and im not sure which one to download
im not really sure which is the country code for taiwan. any ideas?
there are ways to flash without using hard spl?
can you please tell me how?
Read this for flashing without Hard spl: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347
Why would you want the country code for taiwan? You dont need it when flashing another ROM.

Its not very hard to be honest
You must flash HardSPL first to be able to flash any rom and hardspl will work for blac100 and blac120
More info and instruction about HardSPL
Tips about flashing the rom
Use fully charged device
* Switch off your device by holding the Power button untill a menu pops up
* Go to bootloader by holding Volume down + Power button at the same time
* Connect your device to your PC
* Start BlackStoneCustomRUU.exe and follow the onscreen instruction's
There are countless ROM's out there and everyone has different tastes so there is no point asking any questions on which is better etc etc etc.
I am curretnly using Duttys 2.3 rom and would recommned it or Laurentius26 V9.0
Hope this helps!

I got mine from hong Kong when I was there in Feb, it was in chinese too. then I went to the wiki page, downloaded the Hard SPL, once that was done I just picked any ROM on the wiki page, I chose Dutty 1.7 at the time. copied the NBH file to the root of the SD card, made sure the name of the NBH file was BLACIMG.nbh and then used restarted the device with the key presses mentioned in the wiki and flashed it to english. MAKE sure you have at least 50% charge before you start.
the WWE versions are the english roms. I believe its mentioned in the wiki too.
Since then I've maybe flashed like 10 or more times and tried different roms. it doesn't matter which rom you pick. its a matter of personal preference. just take the time to read the wiki in detail and you'll be fine.
if you are getting a retail touch HD it will come with an 8GB SDHC micro SD and the usual accessories.
as of now I'm on dutty's 2.3

Instructions
Download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder.
Unsigned_HardSPL_for_Blackstone_OliNex.zip
You must Have Phone Sync'd with PC in Windows Mobile!!!
Run HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe on PC,
make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.).
if you are on vista, launching as Administrator is recommended,
Follow steps in the RUU
check device for prompts after PC shows loading bar
press Yes on phone if asked.
Some notes: When RUU says it will hard reset, do not worry, it is not going to do that. also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes, ignore that, it will only take a minute or so.
Device should go to a tricolour screen now that says 1.07.OliNex, the SSPL version, which is temporary.
In a bit unusual way, it will take a few seconds for the RUU to detect the device, but do not worry, as soon as the "USB" text on the tricolour screen shows up, RUU will see device.
SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
To confirm you got it installed,
go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) (Switch off your device by holding the Power button untill a menu pops up > Go to bootloader by holding Volume down + Power button at the same time)
verify the screen shows 1.14.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.
I just got my Touch HD over the weekend and I used USPL so that I don't void the warranty:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347
However, you need to have XP. Tried it on Vista but not successful. Luckily I had an old XP laptop stuffed away somewhere

oh really?
when it says
"Execute blac_uspl.exe;" do i just find the file ont he computer and double click it? or do i have to like install it using the phone?
and " If everything goes well, your device will restart and SPL version label should read "1.14.USPL" indicating that USPL was loaded successfully."
once that is done then... am i done?
this next part is when i want to flash a rom right?
("You can then start RUU update to flash RUU_signed.nbh. Once RUU update is completed, device will restart using regular flashed SPL.
If you want to flash from SD card instead, make sure your SD card is not inserted when you enter the bootloader originally.
SPL will try to install it and would fail if blacimg.nbh is not signed by HTC. Insert the card after "USB" label comes up in SPL but before running USPL.
You can run "blac_uspl.exe ?" to get command line parameter help. Only 1 parameter is accepted and that is the name of an SPL file you want to load. You can load an MFG SPL or HSPL. USPL automatically takes care of allowing unsigned/cooked ROM flashing with any SPL you use.")
man. i dont have XP
thers no way on vista?
thanks for the inconvenience.

Yes, you need phone sync'd to pc using your usb cable before running HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe?
What I mean by local drive is your C:/ drive or local disk and not by using other drives you may have i.e. G:/, H:/, J:/ etc
When you run HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe a screen will appear on your pc and it will have these steps on it for you to follow. i.e. just follow these steps

Yes you need to extract it from zip as it will not run from within zip folder
Personally I ran it just from the desktop, i.e. I put HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe on my desktop
when you have your phone connected and in bootloader mode at the bottom on the screen it should say 'usb'.
then launch HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe, follow steps, then your done.
As I said put phone back into bootloader mode afterwards and verify the screen shows 1.14.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.

Manage to solve the problem ...thanks WIKI !!
Go to Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus
Then Flash to any ROM you want !!
Thanks .... But
Thanks for the reply ... but i have no idea how to do what you tell me, I am new to all this phone "stuff" as a matter of fact this is the first time that i am ever using one of these forums. I have read till i am cross eyed but dont actually understand what you are talking about ... now don't let that scare you away as i am willing to learn and i am not braindead ... you all had to start sometime in this, not so. I get that i need to try and reflash my rom...
so is there some type of rom update software that i need? ... what is a hard SPL?? ... and who is Schaps?? .. sorry guys to do this to you but i would like to get into this game and i need some ( well maybe a lot ) of pointers.
Thanks for your time.
1. Search for "mr vanxs guide" so you have an idea on what you're doing.
2. OK, as Asfarizal said "Go to Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus". If you cant work out what the buttons are, go to the manual. it will tell you.
3. type in "hard SPL" in search on the forum & download the .zip or .rar file. this should have 2 files inside when opened,
a). RUUWrapper.exe and
b). RUU_signed.nbh
sync Hermes and double click .exe file. follow prompts.
4. find a rom that you want (would suggest TNT SE as a fairly good rom for noobs... good and stable, no problems...) Again download, then (and this is personel preference) format an sd card fat 32 and copy RUU_signed.nbh into root directory. Rename it Hermimg.nbh. Put into Phone and put into bootloader(make sure the battery is more than 50%) follow prompts. This should get you out of trouble. You can also sync your Phone and double click on the RUUWrapper.exe HOWEVER, if you should reset your computer, pull out the usb cable or have anything else happen to the computer that interrupts the flashm, you could end up with a worse brick than you have now. try to read up on flashing (search for "mr vanxs guide") and this should help you a lot if you have other questions. Good luck and happy flashing......
Thank You
I will follow the instructions you gave and try to get it going this weekend.
Thank you so much for your time

Looks like you've got a lot of reading to do, and a problem to sort out. Firstly a couple of answers...
Schaps is a Rom Cooking guru (makes custom versions of WM5, WM6 etc). When you get your phone sorted out I'd recommend trying one of his roms.
Hard SPL. The SPL is part of the bootloader which effectively dictates how a rom is flashed and what roms can be flashed. HardSPL is a custom version of this which allows you to flash any rom from any carrier. It also protects against a bad flash in many cases. It is recommended before you try flashing any new roms or radio roms. Use Hard-SPL-V7 at the bottom of the first post here.
The Rom upgrading software is contained in any of the cooked or carrier supplied roms. It is normally a .zip file which cotains 2 files: xxxxxRUU.exe and RUU_signed.nbh. You run the .exe file from your PC when connected to your phone via USB. More details of how to do this are in MrVanx's guides. Also other resources here.
Now to try to sort your phone out...
What is displayed on your screen when in bootloader mode? It should be something like this:
HERM200
IPL-1.04
HERM200
SPL-2.10.Olipro (This is HardSPL V7)
If you don't have an Olipro SPL then you need to get HardSPL onto your phone. If you haven't done any upgrading and have had the phone from new then I guess you don't have hardSPL.
Now you need to fix your USB Malfunctioning problem. I can't help too much here except to suggest trying a different cable, different USB port or different PC. Also, if you are running Vista try an XP maxhine. When you connect to the PC does your phone show Serial or USB on the screen? If you can't get a USB connection, all is not lost - you can re-flash your rom using an SD card, method here.
There is a thread about un-bricking phones which may help.
There are various diagnostic tools (which can also screw your phone if used incorrectly). The favourite of these is MTTY but you need a USB connection to use this.
If your phone is in warranty I'd recommend getting your supplier to sort it out, but if not I'd try to re-flash an ORIGINAL supplier rom (Cingular I guess). You can get links to the official supplier roms here.
I think (might be wrong) that sometimes when stuck in bootloader you need to flash an official rom, not a cooked one to recover your phone - then you can run HardSPL and then flash cooked roms again.
Cingular 8525 stuck in bootloader
Thanks for the reply ... lots of great input.
Now to answer some of your questions.
1) When I power up the phone (only pushing the power button ) it goes straight into the bootloader screen without pushing any other buttons, and it displays
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.06
Then at the bottom in the white bar it says "Serial"
The only way that i have found to power it down again is to remove the battery, there is no response from any single buttons after it is in bootloader
the soft reset and hard reset work but it just goes right back to the bootloader screen after.
2) The USB malfunction. This only started after the phone "crashed" and before that it worked great ... well i only used it to sync up to my work pc for the contacts and to get pictures onto my hard drive.
all the PC's that i use are running XP. I have tried my home PC and my Laptop
and the work PC and all of them have their own cables and they all say the same thing ... "the USB device is malfunctioning"
I am sure that when i get the phone going again the USB will start to function again.
3) Phone warranty ... I bought the phone off e-bay from a store in new york about 10 months ago as a "new unlocked cingular 8525" it was new and unlocked, but i have no idea how they unlocked it. I would assume that there would be no warranty now and in any case i live in Canada and would have to ship it down to the states to an AT&T repair center and that sounds like a nightmare to me with the customs and so on.
I will give you a little more background on the problem. the phone worked like a charm without any problems at all for the 10 months that i had it, then the morning of the crash the phones alarm did not go off in the morning and i was almost late for work ... i did not pay it any further attention untill at 3:26pm
that afternoon the alarm went off ??????? (it was set for 6:05am) so i checked the main clock time, it was right. I then checked the alarm time, it was right ??? So i figured that something must have just got confused, so i powered down the phone with the power button to just restart it and while it was powered down i removed the battery to take the oportunity to to clean all those fuzzies and dust that collect in the battery compartment out and put it all together and powered it up again (just by pushing the power button) and this wierd red, green, blue and white screen appeared and that is all that i have seen since ???
I hope that answers your questions and i will start going through the links that you sent and get to reading ... will there be a pop quiz ... lol
Thanks again for your time and i very much appreciate all the time that all of you have spent on me and my phone ..... I know that you all just feel bad for me because i now have to use a Motorolla V551 ... lol
Great Work

yesterday i try to flash by micro sd but in gsm stage its gets hang no progress after extrom stage
IPL - OK
BOOTLOADER - OK
SPLASH1 - OK
SPLASH2 - OK
EXTROM - OK

PLEASE help me
tell me which it the right rom to chose? step by step procedure..
how to rectify imei?
thanks and regards
kirtibas
kirtibas, sorry it took so long to reply, 1st thing I'd do is upgrade to SPL 2.10 olipro. This is safer to use than others. then I'd suggest reflashing a stock rom to see if that works. After stock rom works then use a cooked rom as your heart desires... Cheers...
Hi,
Does anyone know how can I restore the original SPL from bootloader ? I try to do it, the progress bar goes to 100% but when I restart it, I still have the HardSPL installed.
Any ideas ?

I tried that. Unfortunatelly it doesn't work for me. The progress bar goes to 100% and after restart I still have OliNex loader. I don't have the step which says "Unplug cable".
Some other ideas maybe ?

That message appears on the device (on the colored bars screen). Maybe you thought it should appear in Windows.

I know it's on the device. It did, when I did the hard spl. Now when I'm trying to get back to original spl (device stucked in windows boot screen) I don't have that message, but the process goes through. Unfortunately without any result.

Stucked windows screen is a different problem. This method is ok only for working device.
In this case this is the only one idea:

I did try to put back a french ROM. I don't know if it was the original because unfortunately when I first flashed it I was kind of beginner in flashing HTC's, but I tried with the only original french ROM that I found on this forum. The process goes through, but yet the result is the same. Is there any kind of command to fully erase (format) the memory (beside the bootloader) and then try to load a ROM ?
Same for me with restoring SPL ...it doesn't work.
And my device is almost at the same state of damage as yours. See my thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402765
Also the mtty and task8 just restarts my device. Nothing more, nothing less!
So there is no way of restoring SPL with entering the bootloader manually? Not even a mSD-Card Trick out there? I need to get it done because of warranty ;/
You stucked in Olipro hard-spl, this is why restore spl not works...
And unfortunatelly you can not flash spl with micros-sd.
But you can try to flash rom with micro-sd card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384084&highlight=guide
Or ask Olipro, maybe he can help you.
Well I am able to flash my Rom the usual way with USB connection.
But no way of restoring the SPL ;(
"So there is no way of restoring SPL with entering the bootloader manually? Not even a mSD-Card Trick out there? I need to get it done because of warranty ;/"
I do not understand exactly...
Did you try restore original spl with manual bootloader?
you run SSPL from Windows Mobile, then flash a stock SPL NBH, job done.
the whole *point* of Hard-SPL is that it can't be overwritten when it performs a flash so that if anything screws up you don't end up locked out of reflashing in the event something screws up.

Sounds easy *hehe* BUT i can't access Windows Mobile anymore, that is my big problem. So my device will be picked up by O² in a few days, so i have to get the original SPL back without accessing Windows Mobile ;(
Any suggestion?
@fktsndr: no, thats why i have put a question mark behind it I just need a way of downgrading to the Original SPL without access to Windows Mobile. Maybe i should be sorry for my english

So...
You have hard-spl on your machine
You can not restore spl followed the guide in post 2 (WITHOUT manual bootloader)
You can not access your windows mobile (WM does not boot)
You freeze on startup screen
You can not start you phone with steps in post 6
Am I right?
If yes, you stucked in bootloader. And unfortunatelly I can not help you...Maybe Olipro.

Well seems like something like this.
See I have no error because of invalid flashing. I had slight water damage. But some days later my device was working again for a whole day.
Next day it didn't work anymore.
When i startup my device and the WM-Splash shows up it makes "bring" and device turns off.
When i plug in the AC charger i can't even get beyond the O2-Splash.
But I can enter the bootloader and flash what I want, it works ;/
I am also able to connect with MTTY, maybe there is a way with repairing it through MTTY?
Full description of my problems here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402765
But if i cant get rid of the problems i have to send it to warranty by tomorrow or monday and i think they will notice that i don't have the original SPL on it. So they will screw me ;(((
So, as I am not a noob to computers I would try ANYTHING to get it back on my own!
Is there also no way of restoring it by using the microSD-Card? So is there no way without Windows Mobile? Not even the holy MTTY? Or any way of debugging it by MTTY to see whats going wrong?
I'm screwed!
P.s. I have also tried another battery in the o² shop....didn't fix it ;(

Yes but on "task 8" my device doesn't behave as it should be. It just restarts doing nothing.
Seems like i just have to hope the guys at the service center will not recognize my "not original" SPL. 1% chance ;(
Well thanks for now fktsndr.
Seems like there is really no way of restoring it without Windows Mobile ;(
I thought there would maybe be a "Low Level"-Method of accessing the device and restoring SPL.
Can't think of that there is no way of formatting the device on its lowest level (mtty) or transferring the original SPL per MTTY. Hmm...there should always be a way
Olipro, no way? ;(
if I remember right, the polaris hardSPL is based on an MFG bootloader.
this means you can use mtty commands (mw) to unpatch the write protection then flash the stock SPL.
if I don't remember right, and it is not MFG, then you can still use another mtty command with a special file, but this is more complicated and was not fully tested. you can contact me in PM and we can see.
(you could transfer SPL via mtty, but that is also blocked in hardspl because the mtty transfer uses same code to flash the SPL in this SPL common base)
by the way task 8 is exactly designed to just do a soft reset. nothing wrong with that command.
they really meant task 28. this does a hard reset. you can try that. I guess you already did, but just in case!
edit: I just remembered another way if task 28 doesn't help. ifyou don't mind that the device will stop booting SPL, then you can just do task 2a command in mtty. this will erase SPL, and because of hardSPL overwrite protection it will fail to flash it back from the temporary RAM backup.
the result is that the device will not even boot SPL, it will be black screen. it will boot to the radio bootloader only and O2 won't know what SPL was on it before erase.
Long story short my phone worked fine for months. Went to a 1.56 Rom active sync stopped working. I have already tried everything associated with AS problem, everything. Went to get it repaired at HTC America in Houston, TX there gay and dont support T8285. I have tried flashing via memory card but I seem to be retarded doing it that way. Engineer said mini usb slot works fine, cooked rom may have corrupted AS. Customer service would not let him fix my phone because it was an "aussie version". I just want the phone to sync is that too much to ask? Anyway $100 bucks to anyone that can make it work paid via paypal immediately.
moved out of development
Personally I think your mad offering $100. I'm sure most people would have hepled you for free, including myself. I'm not after your money but offer my assistance.
Have you tried doing a hard reset? uninstalling activesync & reinstalling it?
Flashing different rom. If you can't flash through SD Card, have you tried flashing again via usb. You don't need phone sync'd
Put your phone into bootloader and then connect to pc via usb. At bottom of screen the text should change from 'serial' to 'usb'. Now flash phone by running rom (cooked or stock etc) you downloaded. Put .nbh and ruu file into same folder and then open ruu file and follow instructions.
I severely doubt cooked rom affected activesync.
EDIT
As bonesy said below, you'll need either USPL or HSPL to flash 1.56+ based rom.
Full tutorial or dummies guide to flashing 1.56+ based roms can be found in cRaCKwHoRe's guide. See my signature
Turn off your phone, Take out your memory card, Plug the miniUSB in then power on (Hold volume down press power holding volume down still) This will bring up a coloured screen. Run the ROM Wrapper package exe (BlackstoneRUUWrapper) This SHOULD now install the right ROM.
Please make sure you are using a 1.56 rom with the HSPL or i think it has problems with GFX.
When windows loads go to start>settings>connections>USBtoPC
this is on 6.5 rom not sure about 6.1 :/
Untick Enable faster data synchronizaion, I had to do all this on works computer to update a ROM god knows why but this was my fix.
ROM Should load as should activesync now.
Please let me know if this helps
Tried to post in ure original threads but mods were moving to trash each time BAH!
Thanks to both of you guys for your suggestions. I thought I was not a noob when it came to flashing roms but once I could not do it via usb I was a whole different story. Yeah I am offering the $100 just to get people to help. I know you get slammed if you ask a question so I figured I would make it worth someone's time. I am going right now to pick it up from the repair center so I will try during my lunch in about an hour.

So I got my phone and this is what it says.
BLAC120 32M
SPL-1.56.01Olinex
MicroP-Blackstone (LED) v6
and it's just red green blue and white no word on the bottom. Ran BlackstoneRUUWrapper with the nbh file that I wanted and it gave me a connection error. Now it says Seiral in the white.

Well I get it into bootloader no problem but then plug in the usb cable and nada, it says serial. So then I tried starting bootloader mode with the cabe and still nada, it does not even say serial. If I unplug it then it says serial. I have tried both ways to run the RUU Wrapper and I keep getting the usb conncetion error
serial?

ok, that looks pretty normal,so to recap you fully powerdown the phone by taking the battery out, put the cable into both the phone and pc and the turn on holding volume down and it just sits there?, what happens when you press volume up at this point?

Yeah I have been trying on my latop, home pc, and work pc and nothing same result. I have tried different usb cables, os, reinstalling, everything. Only thing I have not tried is flashing via sd card yet.
brick
its sounds like you have a corrupt spl, it is definately worth trying the sd card as it may allow you to activesync but it may then fallover when it reboots and goes into boot mode. This i where user viperbjk (see android dev thread) may be able to help as he has successfully managed to unbrick a phone.
I had this same problem but powering down and simply triggering the and spl reflash resolved it. your problem sounds different though.
Hello all,
There are many new users who want to install/upgrade to a custom rom but totally don't know from where they should start. So, they ask the same question again and again in irrelevant threads. Here is a very short guide which will help you to install/upgrade to a custom rom and will hopefully prevent newbie's from asking the same question.
@All New users: There is no problem in asking question and everybody is ready to help you but many ppl just don't go through the pages even tho the question has been answered several times in a single thread.
Things to be known:-
1. Flashing The term flashing means installing or upgrading. When we say Flashing a rom that simple means we are installing the rom. But sometimes you would have seen in forums ppl saying flash Hard spl or so. Here too flashing simply means installing.
2. Basic information On powering up your phone the basic information displayed on the screen are: ONBL version, SPL version, GSM or Radio version and OS version.
For flashing a custom rom we only need to know about SPL for now.
3. SPL Here is the description of SPL by krazy_about_technology,
SPL or Second Program Loader is a part of your phone's firmware. Its responsible for both loading of operating system and it is also used by operating system for some low level tasks. By Default, HTC and Other Manufacturers too, design it in such a way that it does not allows custom ROMs to be flashed in the phone. It does no by checking for the Digital Signature of HTC on roms. So it need to be patched in order to flash custom ROMs made by chefs in this forum.
4. H-SPL As you can see in the above description that SPL are designed in such a way that it doesn't allow you to flash custom roms. So we need a H-SPL ( Hard SPL). When we flash a HSPL it simply patches the current SPL or in other words it unlocks the device for flashing custom roms.
The flashing process
1. Flashing HSPL First flash HSPL, head over to this thread ( here ) for all the instructions and downloads of HSPL.
2. ROM Now after flashing HSPL choose a custom rom. Almost all the custom roms are compressed commonly with winrar or 7zip.
So, if you dont have winrar or 7zip to uncompress the package get any one of them. My suggestion is get 7zip from here.
After uncompressing the custom rom package there are two cases,
Case 1: There is a single *.nbh file, generally the rom file is named as RUU_signed.nbh ( but remember it may be of any other name too, just it will be of *.nbh format ). In this case you need some additional tools to flash this file into ur device.
How to flash the nbh file (this only guides you to flash nbh not unlocking ur device (hspl)
Here is a short method.
1. Download this Installation package (295 kb). here
2. Extract the above downloaded package anywhere on pc (say desktop)
3. Copy the downloaded nbh to the extracted folder. (Here the extracted folder name is Installation package)
4. Double click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe
5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Thats it!
Case 2: After uncompressing the custom rom package you will see there are additional files with the rom file. These additional files are nothing but the tools required to flash the rom into your device. So in this case you don't need any additional files and you can directly for for flashing.
Flashing the rom:
For XP
1. Download and install Microsoft Activesync 4.5 (the latest) if you don't have it in your pc. It can be downloaded from here.
2. Connect your Device with PC via USB cable. As soon as you connect you would see a pop up window on your device. Probably there will be three options, you have to select the option which is Activesync.
Now you should see in your PC Activesync connected, if it didn't sync open Activesync go to connection setting and select the port through which your device is connected. Now re plug-in your device.
3. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe remember the flashing tool should be in a folder where the rom file is also present. Follow the on-screen instructions. Thats it.
For vista/windows 7
1. Download and install Microsoft Device centre from here.
2. Connect your Device with PC via USB cable. As soon as you connect you would see a pop up window on your device. Probably there will be three options, you have to select the option which is Activesync.
Now you should see in your PC Device center is connected, if it didn't sync open Device center go to connection setting and select the port through which your device is connected. Now re plug-in your device.
3. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe remember the flashing tool should be in a folder where the rom file is also present. Follow the on-screen instructions. Thats it.
Essential thing to be known:-
1. Bootloader mode Knowing how to enter into Bootloader mode is one of the most essential thing to be known for a opal user (windows mobile users).
How to enter?
There are two way to enter into bootloader mode.
1. If you device is on, open your device's back cover. Press the soft reset button ( red button ) using stylus. As soon as you press it, immediately press the volume down button and keep holding it until you see a tri-color screen on your device's screen.
2. If your device is off, press the power button as soon as the device vibrates immediately press volume down button and keep holding it until you see a tri-color screen on your device's screen.
Uses?
If you flashed a damaged rom, you would be no longer able to use your device. In that case enter into bootloader mode. And flash a different rom.
Thanks
Explain the excellent and easy to understand, good work Thank you
Iam glad that you liked it. I hope now ppl will refer this thread and not rom threads. Ppl can ask all the question that they ask on other threads here.
Nice Guide
You've done a great job with this guide. Thanks. I've already referenced it on another post.

but when i started to put the first rom on mi device...opal v 6.5..i have the same problem...can someone explain how to unlock the phone and to have the first rom on my device(opal version 6.5 d25)...pls...
Ruch0 your question is not at all clear, if you want someone to help you then please make it little more clear.
Is your phone sim locked, if so then it is always said not to flash a custom rom.
According to ur question u say u have done hspl and installed a rom then trying to unlock the rom. Here by unlocking do you mean sim unlocking?
to make a better point i want to get rid off the 260 error...because i have found a lots of programs that will sim unlock the phone...
know i am trying to use this:
1. download hardspl v7 from the first post.
2. extract ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to HERMIMG.nbh
3. copy it to a microsd card, make sure the card is formatted as fat32
4. download sspl-herm from here
5. extract SSPL-HERM.exe and copy it to your phone.
6. insert sd card and run sspl-herm.exe on the phone.
7. you should see the tri-color screen and then it should change to this
8. press power button to start flashing
9. reset when you get the msg that its done.
but i cant start the sspl-herm.exe from my mobile...
LOL, that really made be to laugh. First of all are you sure that you have a HTC Touch Viva (opal) because from your description it is clear that you are using herms and having some probs. Well, my friend this section is ONLY for the device called HTC Touch Viva (opal). So asking here is a total wastage of time.
You should immediately head over to herms section and ask the ppl over there. Visit here.

The main thing you have to check is whether your phone is synced with ur PC via activesync/windows mobile device centre. If you are sure that it is synced then also not working then there might be some other problem.
About remote access don't worry there is a software called Team viewer it will bypass all firewalls.
Yeah, Jagan sorry, I know the team viewer, tomorrow we can use this,
thank you for ur help.

Need Help
Hi Jagan
I have HTC Touch Viva purchased recently in India.
Software : Win Mobile 6.1 Professional Build : 19971.1.2.6
ROM Version : 1.35.720.2 WWE
Radio Version : 03.37.90
Protocol Version : 4.1.13.74
I tried to update its OS to Win Mobile 6.5 first time.
I followed your instruction in Post 1. But I am unable to do that.
First I tried HSPL 2, but it didn't work. I got 202 error.
I downloaded the ROM from the following Link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629257
ROM update also failed.
While updating, it showed the message like
Current ROM Version 1.35.xx...
New ROM Version : 1.27.xx...
To update the OS to 6.5, I need to do any thing else? Where I am going wrong? Plz help.
ivk: caioofaria has too similar problems that is error 202, its like in some pc its not coming and in some its coming. I will check that out again today in caioofaria's pc.
I will post result of my testing today, if anyone has a suggestion post it here.
For now iam assuming that ivk and caioofaria is not able to flash hspl because of there new default os. I will try to get a solution for this,
But if anyone has suggestion be sure to post it here.
Need Help - Update
Hi Jagan,
Little bit improvement in my problem.
The HSPL completed. Now the spl version : 1.26.0.0
Again when I try to update the ROM, getting Update Error 270.
Tried on different laptops(win 7). But getting the same problem.
Thanks.
No the spl version should be something like this 2.00 cmonex
That means you have done hspl yet. Actually i think i got the prob of the error, when you u try to do hspl and ur screen goes tri color then your pc will or i should say must install a driver it will be something like "Pocket pc syn" if its not doing then hspl will not get flashed. Just one again try to do hspl in windows 7 then when you are in tri color screen see in ur notification area below that some driver is getting installed.

2. flashing
3. hard reset
however, there are a few preparations if your device was never flashed before, you need to install hspl on your phone and make sure you have the correct driver installed on your pc. the driver for the device in bootloader mode might vary from the driver used to sync the device, when switched on.
1. the driver:
if you have windows xp, connect the phone in bootloader mode and look, whether it changes from serial to usb on the bootloader screen, you should be fine by then.
on windows vista/7 you connect the device in bootloader mode, and might actually take some time for it to download another driver from windows update. if it changes from serial to usb, first try to connect using mtty, before attempting to flash, because the connection might not yet be stable and you might want to have a look at the thread (ref updating the usb drivers).
2. hspl
to quote the dummies' guide thread:
(HSPL2a) Place your phone into its bootloader.
(HSPL2b) Run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe from the download in step (HSPL1a) and follow it as normal.
(HSPL2c) If successful, go to step HSPL3. If the flashing process sits at 0% and you get Error [260] connection after some time, go to step (Troubleshooting).
pretty easy, in other words, just connect the device in bootloader mode and run the package on the pc, it will unlock the spl and flash hspl.
if all went well, you are ready to flash, download any rom you like from the rom development section, and flash it using the .exe file that comes with them, might be updater.exe, blackstone RUU.exe or something else. if your rom download only consists of an .nbh file, like ruu_signed.nbh or BLACIMG.nbh, download advanced RUU and use it to flash.
alternatively, if this is to complicated for you as a beginner, you can rename the rom file to BLACIMG.nbh (if it is not already named like that) and put it in the root of the sd card, by then entering bootloader mode, it should find the rom and give you detailed instructions on how to install it.
last step, hard reset, as described in the original manual, switch on, while pressing VOL- and VOL+ and follow the instructions onscreen.

basically, flashing a winmo phone is an easy process:
1. bootloader mode (power on with VOL- button pressed)
2. flashing
3. hard reset

download this, extract all the files, take micro SD out of device, connect device to active sync and then run HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe on your pc, it will now start to flash a new SPL, when complete confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen! {hold volume down and press the reset button under the back cover}) now verify the screen shows 1.56.OliNex, which is the new Hard-SPL version.
when complete you will be able to flash any rom to your touch hd/blackstone
note: if you do not flash a new rom you will have graphical issues with the current rom, however this gets fixed as soon as you flash a new rom
if you have any trouble, click me and go to the first post
good luck
