Rhodina69-Thanks for the hint! I didn't notice the reset button before. I have had three lockups this far where I had to remove the battery. I'd prefer using the reset button, even though I really have no clue if it would make any difference.

Procedure to hard reset xperia:
1. Holding phone in your right hand (suck it lefties!), face East with arms extended in front.
2. With sacred dagger of Ericsson upright in left hand, trace the protective pattern in the air (The pattern looks like a PS3).
3. Bring in the sacrificial goat...you DID remember the goat, right?
4. Use your overheating/exploding xperia to light the fire of purity (for details, see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487852 )
5. Sacrifice the goat with the sacred dagger and BBQ on the fire of purity...high quality BBQ sauce is a must.
6. Now gather your minions into a circle, stand at the center and invoke the favor of Beelzebub...offer him the bbq goat (he loves him some goat).
If all has been done to perfection, Beelzebub will erase and reset your phone...and probably sleep with your girlfriend/spouse/pet...he's kind of unpredictable.

Not quite as dramatic, but you hold the 2 softkeys down while turning the phone on.

lol hahaah u guys are funny
Or you can drill a hole on the metallic cover above the reset hole. It is practical as WinMo needs that hole and someone did it for a Touch HD back then.

Maybe I'm too smart, but I noticed the hole in the shop before even buying Xperia.
As for SPB softreset .. it's the same as turning the device off and on again, and if I can go to SPB menu, I can turn it off too, so I really don't see point of 'soft reset' application.
Anyway did you know (I didn't):
- where microphone is ? It's the small dent on bottom edge just below OK button.
- there is red led under power button ? Remove battery, plug the Xperia into power (USB into computer is just fine), and turn it on !

Hi Champs,
the Keyboard on my MDA Vario (T-Mobile) is very loose.
Meaning, that it slides out nearly by itself
Is there any way to make it harder / tighten it? Has someone done it and can explain on How To (maybe with pictures)?
Thanks in advance!
Oliver
Sorry that I do not have any solution for you and share your concern.
It is unfortunate that HTC did not learn anything from the Blue angel. I had the i-mate pda2k (blue angel) and it too had similar loose keyboard problem. Now we have the brand new Wizard and the same loose keyboard.
In the end I think it is our fault (myself included) because whatever they make we are prepared to spend our hard earned money on it
Just my views
Kind Regards
Noone has any tips or tricks to help on this?
It is getting worse! And T-Mobile claims that this is normal and will not exchange it :-(
Oliver
I did it once
Hi Oliver,
I did it once, my wizard wasn't to loose and in fact I didn't wanted to tight the keyboard but I feel it more tight after I disassembled my wizard (trying to fix the center-not-working problem of the touchscreen) I think that what did the trick was to tight the srews that support the screen when you open the keyboard (you won't be able to see them without disassembling). I whould advise you to search for some pics of the wizard disassembled and look for those srews.
PS: I see is a old post, wish it helps or already fixed =)
See the little bumps in this picture (red circles around them)?
Build those bumps up with some very thin coats of clear epoxy, or even with a very hard clear nail polish (allow to dry over night, either way, before closing the keyboard). That should keep your phone shut.
It'll still slip like a sweaty whore on a greased air mattress once you clear those bumps, but it should keep your phone shut until you want it open. You can do the same thing at the other end, but you'll have to disassemble for that, and if you're doing that, you might as well try Edgar's suggestion first, anyhow.
get this: when i use the **** button on the keyboard, it keeps locking in to shift mode. i then would have to hold shift to typ normally then relase shift to type a symbol. so one cone say the shift function is working in reverse. is there a fix?

Start a new thread, this one is about loose keyboards, not stuck buttons.
But to answer your question: Disassemble your phone and clean it thoroughly. Use cotton swabs or lint-free cloth, and isopropyl alcohol, and keep at it until you don't see any streaks or debris on anything. Blow completely dry with canned air, or allow to air dry overnight before applying power. Any streaks mean you still haven't got the dirt off (you just smeared it around). Once it's super clean, reassemble and test. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised by the improvement in the performance. Some get by without disassembly just by hitting the gaps in the buttons with canned air, but that's only a temporary fix.
Hello, does the macro function (the switch near the lens) really work? I tried several pictures and can't see any difference between normal and macro.
I notice that I can't put the switch fully to the top (to normal mode) but easily full to the bottom (to macro). Maybe it's dispositioned and therefor it doesn't reach the macro function internally?
Works extremely well for me. You are trying to use it in a macro fashion right, ie trying to focus on something say < 15cms away?

This is sheer carelessness from your last repair. There is nothing broken on the camera zoom just that the back has been placed on and the catch on the casing has missed the toggle arm on camera. A simple 20 sec job which you could easily do yourself if it weren't for that VOID sticker. Give your last repairer a good talking to.

If you mean the little sticker on top of the screw next to the camera on the right, this is already broken, by the HTC repairer I assume...
When I unscrew the back (4 screws) then I will be able to repair it myself you think? (first find the appropriate screwdriver).

Yes it's an easy fix as there is nothing broken inside. Get set of phone screwdrivers from maplin or such like. Open phone bottom end first needs just a little bit of easing out as there are pop in connections all around. Tilt bottom edge up and with a bit of judicious wiggling it will pop off!. The problem will be immediately obvious. There is a small "arm" on the camera that fits into the movable macro switch on the case.
Easiest wat I've found to get them to match up is move both lever and and switch toward top of device and place back on by moving it straight down onto phone (not at an angle). Before putting screws in check switch moves fully and in good light you'll actually see lens and black ring moving in an out. Once full screwed up (forgive expression) you may need to press a little on top edge to get case to return fully into position.

Many thanx, it works again!!!
As you said I lifted the bottom, played with the switch and it fell into place!
First I tried to remove the whole cover, but at the cameraside it didn't get off that easy and I was affraid to damage something. But then I solved it without lifted the whole cover. SO I'M VERY HAPPY NOW!!!
(by the way, is there a trick to get the whole cover off? Not that I want to do that at the moment...)

Knew you could do it, congratulations. The back is fiddly, it helps if you have the tool that looks like a flat blade screwdriver with a slightly bend tip - meant for providing a little leverage to pull the case out enough to release the click in clips. A blunt knife could also be used if you want to go down market. Steer clear of a sledgehammer though!

does any have any idea to remove HD Mini's battery.
I tried the way which HTC provided but it's really hard to remove.
i just found a easy way to remove it and guys if you have any better idea please kind share it.
Here is what i found the way to remove cover:
1. Hold the device on hand and
2. slightly press/push the uppper screw (either left or right side )and you will find how easy it is to remove battery from device.
Hahhhhhh....you're a savior...
Thx so much for the tip, it saved me from a painful experience every time I try to open the cover...
Cool

I just slide my nail along the shut line between the cover and the chrome part and it opens itself, easy and smooth

Pushing the designer-screws or the back-speaker are the best way to open the cover without risk of scratching. Thanks for suggesting these methods.

Pushing the speaker works well for me !
I have a good suggestion;
Stand with your feet about 50cm's apart, hold the phone upside down in your right hand, extended arm. Make sure that the surface you stand on is firm, i.e. like concrete or hard wood. Release your grip untill gravity takes over.
Presto, your phone cover is now not only opened, but also you can retrieve the battery easily from the ground.
If you are lucky, the SIM and SDHC card also pop out!

Just confirmed this issue on my Omnia7.
This is retarded. Capacitive screens don't work that way.
not having any problem on my omnia 7...tried everything to try emulate some of the effects reported! not seeing any deterioration in sensitivity!
Not a pickle from my Omnia 7, Still as lush as ever and responsive as it should be, i've been mostly USING in on a pillow/soft surface when it's laying down next to me when i'm home and sitting here for hours on end.
Loving it even more when all these bugs/glitches come out and it's stomping them down.
I feel I should come back to this and apologise as I have found a pillow which messes up my phone's touch responsiveness too. Interesting.

What kind of pillow? This smells of static to me, seeing as capactive screens rely on the tiny electrical charges in your body. Polyester fabrics getsquite static, do they not?
It happens to me when I place it on my desk...

I believe the manual is a load of BS. My iPad works fine when connected to my powerpoint. I've noticed that when the Omnia is charging via powerpoint its screen sensitivity does go down, BUT, when you hold the phone with your other hand, or even just touch part of the rear/side with one finger, the screen starts working flawlessly.... imo it could be some design flaw regarding conductivity
When I place my Omnia 7 on my car phone holder (from Capdase), the screen does not respond at times, and I can't seem to find any pattern why or how this happens. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Once I take it off the phone holder, the screen is working fine again.
I wrote it in the other thread... but I had this problem too and after I flashed the newest firmware it was gone. Now the screen responds perfect no matter where I place the phone.
You should check the thread with omnia firmware out
Another solution I found is that you would need to Hard reset your device not through the settings but turning off and than press/hold volume down + camera and power on. Than press the middle button twice and than you will not have anymore problems with touch screen.

o really?! I thought it was just magic and the magic couldn't work when the phone was placed on soft things! im so glad someone with intelligence could teach me about this capacitive thingy whoever he is!
you have completely cleared this up for me - i now see the error of my ways. must have been having hallucinations or something. sorry for this disruption everybody!
i hope the next version of our phone uses magic because that would be really cool!
on a side note to that, after updating my firmware yesterday this dosnt seem to happen anymore. stupid hallucinations!
Had this before, after the firmware Upgrade the Problem seems to be resolved but after some time ( 1 week or so ) it's back again.
Looks like there is a fix for the laying-flat-issue for the Focus:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11077163#post11077163
Maybe it works for some issues with the Omnia 7 as well. Did anybody already try?
Yes, have the same. If I put it on my couch, or bed. Sometimes also on hard surfaces. Doesn't bother me too much though, but it is weird.
I'm not trying to toot my own horn here...but I was literally the first person (or one of them at least) on Microsoft answers, Youtube and forums alike to raise concern about this issue.
It's a conductivity problem. As long as one hand is touching the back of the phone (sometimes near the top or sides too) then the touch screen will operate normally.
The reason it stuffs up when you have it flat is because you're not touching the back of the device, hence the conductivity flaw.
Check all this, it's a problem with the Omnia 7's, deal with it or chose another handset. I ended up keeping mine, I can live with it.

The power button on my HD2 (LEO) has finally quit working for good. I have set MAGLDR to always run its menu, so I can get at recovery without the power button, but if the phone reboots without my knowing it, it sits at that menu (and gets quite hot) until I notice it and respond.
Soes anyone have any information on repairing the power button without sending the phone to HTC? Or, is there a way to have MAGLDR select one of its menu options after a time delay?

Understood, but the videos I've seen are unclear as to how much you need to disassemble to det to the button strip. Truthfully, removing the screen with a hear gun really scares me! Well, you dont have to seperate the screen. The heat gun is used to seperate the main body from the screen MODULE. whilst keeping the screen and digitizer glued in place. Then, once you seperate the screen module and main housing, you flip over the screen module, and there is the digitizer plug, and the button strip which comes out easily. Here is the video i used. I think its the best one It shows EVERYTHING
