Official UK upgrade is here.
Rom 3.14.13
Radio 4.16
http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgrade/0,,170,00.html
very dissapointed really
No promised MMS, no signal improvements, and although I have yet to install, it looks like there is no fix to the following problems either
1 - SMS name fix, althought the patch on this site does that so feck em!
2 - Switching to phone app after sending sms AFTER a call has been made/received
3 - O2 CS in general, look at all the other international releases, yet O2 are still waaay behind.
4 - Action update is beyond a joke!
Kevin
What? 3.14.13? .... I am expecting a new rom with MMS fuction...
Is it just me or are people not bothering to read the O2 site properly.
They didn't actually promise the MMS update in March. This is due "later in in the year", along with modem capabilities and other stuff.
MMS or sms name fix is not built into any ROM available anywhere. I know somebody who works for O2 and has the next ROM/Radio being tested and apparently this doesn't have this either.
I agree, lets kick their ass on how long it's taken to release this, but lets get our facts straight first.
Lets be realistic. A lot of the stuff we want is not going to be available until PPC 2003, so we will all have to buy new devices by then.
absolute disgust !!!
this is a shambles I wonder how this company continues to exist ?
how can they promise items in an upgrade then basically take 4 months longer than anyone else to put out this "upgrade".
Seems to me like they have the attitude "we have your money so [email protected] you"
I WILL NEVER purchase another XDA from o2.
the idea was fantastic the way they treat people is an absolute disgrace.
could you imagine the rebellion there would be if you bought a telly that kept on losing the channels you had programed when it felt like it.
this was a total waste of money on my behalf.
I will go back to my ipaq and nokia combination.
does anyone want to buy a pretty ppc with a half functioning toy phone built in.
 :x
THIS IS CRAP!
radio 4.16 still has the unable to re-aquire signal unless plugged into the cradle.
****e ****e ****e I gave O2 the benefit of the doubt for tha last 6 months with the promise that this radio version would fix this problem but it does not. I repeat NOT !
now my blood is boiling time to start a campaign.
The problem with not reaquiring the signal is SIM card related. Get a new SIM card and the problem will disappear.
Atleast this is what I found.
amarko5,
So you have been waiting 6 months for an upgrade to fix your xda not picking up a signal unless in a cradle? And it never occured to you that you have a broken xda or sim?
Well done on winning the completely stupid 2003 award. How do you not fall over more often?????
Unbelieveable.
Now, now, settle down or there'll be tears before bedtime. It is ****e though isn't it? How many people do you think O2 have got working on software? Could it be as many as one? Do you think he(she) works full time, maybe he has a day job as a plumber, very busy time of year this! The nokia/ipaq option is looking good.

I have contacted o2 on many occasions and it is a "KNOWN BUG" so keep your simple minded comments to yourself.
i have tried 3 sim cards in the phone and all are the same.
I have 2 friends who suffer tha same complaint and there are also many people reporting the same problem on the official source o2 website.
it occurs if the phone loses signal for any extended period of time and if the battery is less than 3/4 charged.
when dropped back in cradle the extra power seems to kick it back up.
if signal is not lost ie local in good area then the phone functions normally
even with low power.
get your facts straight before making childish comments.
P.S. i only ever fall over when i trip over idiots like YOU !

Being in the UK never helps
Why is it that we in the UK have some of the best engineers in the world. But we can't get a simple thing like a bleedin phone to work!
People come from all over the world to get education in the UK. We are a great nation. So O2 UK get yer arse into gear FFS ! ! !

Hi,.
I'm the first Guest who replied about it being the SIM card. I had the problem and I found that my friends O2 SIM fixed the problem. I ordered a new SIM card and it did the trick. If anyone else has the problem and their friends "NEW" SIM card don't fix it, then I too would suggest that it is your XDA that is at fault.
O2 say that it is a known bug which is true - but a bug that can be fixed with a new SIM.
Trust me or not, I was only trying to fix your problem.
@amarko 5
i have problem that may be same as you reported. phone frozen and does not load the radio on a soft reset ? impossibe to use, turn off radio etc. didn't think the power was low to be exactly the same as your problem tried putting back in cradle and on usb hot sync cable - nothing was running radio 408 and 3.14.13. only possible was a full hard reset reset which cured and reloaded radio. have now upgraded to radio 416 as per new o2 update. is this ongoing problem from your knowledge?? will an upgrade to 3.15.xx eng (dutch o2 i think ??) fix it as mentioned in earlier posts??
The Problem still existed after the upgrade (well several re upgrades as well)
I appreciated Guests suggestion of sim card but I have tried 3 simms now 2 of which are just a few weeks old.
It didn't solve my issues.
At present O2 support seem to admit they knew about it and have agreed to take my XDA back to fix (I really hope they do)
so at present i am without my XDA as it's in the post back to O2.
I really didn't want to mess with any unofficial upgrades as you suggest as it may have invalidated warranty.
I may have been a bit slow in getting this sorted but at first O2 just denied a problem it is only recently they seem to acknowledge it.
BTW this BUG seems to affect a lot of people of you read the newsgroups on O2 source newsgroups.
I hope you have better luck with the upgrade if not then i suggest a visit to an O2 shop or call the support line to return it.
dont suffer like i did.
I also hope they compensate me for the useless functionallity of the sp called phone but i have my doubts maybe i will have to consult trading standards or watchdog
time will tell and i will keep you informed of progress.
Is there some kind of matrix available showing which country is at what ROM/Radio thing? All very confusing for amateurs like me.
Also, would it not be more productive for HTC to do the updating, make it a universal download, but with localised add-ons available
If I'm hopelessly out of my depth here, throw me a lifebelt...
soft reset
Hi,
My xda have the same problem but after a few
soft reset or adjusting the power settings
it now works fine.
same problem

I had exactly the same problem. They suggested that i get a new sim card because the sim is 2 years old but i couldnt be arsed with that. i phoned XDA fault centre and they said i could send it back for repair. 3 days later, i got it back, and it was working normally again, with a couple of hickups.
Hi!
A few days ago, my Jasjar's display started to become horizontal mirrored after I resume from standby. The screen flickers from normal to mirrored several times per second :-(
I can temporarily fix it by applying some pressure on the display border and doing a few stand-by/resume cycles but after all, that's really annoying. I'm quite sure that there's some kind of cable broke inside my Jasjar but unfortunately, my warranty's gone and I have to repair it by myself.
Has anyone done something similar? Which spare parts might be needed? How much might it cost if I'll send it to an authorized Imate dealer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated ...
Greetings,
.ox
Mine did exactly the same thing and was replaced under warranty from t-mobile, my guess was it was dry solder as opposed to a broken cable.
Not much help I know, but you're not alone in having the problem
Oh, if it's a dry solder, I guess I'm out of luck and the mainboard needs to be replaced :-(
So I'm going to find some very small screwdrivers and take a look inside.
.ox
this was a failure that was common on early pocketpc. i guess somethings never change

sorry to ask but how come you're already out of warranty? your device can't be 1 year old yet.
My Jasjar did the exact same thing. Unfortunately, I bought it from a betch on eBay who did not tell me they were having problems with the unit. The device did the flickering for about a week as I was trying to get in touch with iMate and the seller (which I was unsuccessful with both), and then quit flickering. Unfortunately, the device has other problems now, as the screen is unresponsive for the first few seconds after startup.

it definitely *should* be enough but I've found no i-Mate service point here in Germany willing to do it for free
But now I've found a company which told me to repair my jasjar for about 30 EUR plus spare parts (which, I hope, doesn't involve a new display for about 200 EUR )

OK thanks for the details in advance.
The mirror fault is due to over driving the display unit more than 180 degrees. Flex cable is damaged.
As such I understand they wont cover this in warranty since this is caused by the user twisting the display 380 degrees or even more.
Seen one particular unit which had one (1) cable left out of the whole bundle this flex consist of!

Okay, now I've got my Jasjar back (about 6 days after I've send it) and it's working great 8)
They've charged me 39 EUR (and 6 EUR for shipping and handling) which sounds really fair to me. Their address is http://www.handy21.de but unfortunately, the site is only german.

hey dude, sorry to hear your phone's dead. It must likely be truly dead, seeing as you've tried all the repair shops, but I thought I'd type this out anyway, as I just saw some of your old post on the topic to do with "I got into boot loader by connecting wires directly to battery pins and now reflashing"
You were asking
Do U know that trick of stripping the wall charger and than short the pins ...
Which is the 1st Pin from bottom or from top..

...did u ever try it? The other thread I used to look at had this:
Default wires
NO need to i will explain in detail.
1. Take ur phone and put it on ur table =)
2. Turn it so u can see the camera
3. On the right u see 6 Pins.
4. The Pin 1 is nearest to Camera
5. Pin 5 would be far away from camera.

it worked for me with the sixth pin to by the way but that might be why it doesn't work without the wires for me yet.

Hey triplejay
How r u dude..I m currently using an old nOKIA 3315
YES i did tried the charger trick ...dint help.Any other trick..
Well I think i shall give one last shot with this trick.(my phone is still in service stn i have to collect it yet)
The repair guy told me that there is some problem with the "POWER IC"..
He told me it will be repaired at a cost of around Rs3500 i.e around 87~88US$.
I agreed to go ahead for repairs and than next day I called him ..
To my horror he said it cant be repaired as he is not able to find the spares..
He told me the entire board needs to be repalced at a price of Rs.17000.00
i.e.425 US $ .I had bought the phone for 2000Rs (500$)
And I had told him not to repair n here i m with a dead neo.
well you should try a fully charged battery of another prophet user like me ,or may be pass me your permanent cell number privately. if this works and you enter bootloader mode and then format wm5 nvid and swear not to touch rom's again . service centre guy scare you off ,its policy wise correct they charge double the amount for battery Rs2500 which u get for Rs1200 at other places . i can understand your pain cause i lost my ipod mini same way , i think battery is culprit here .don't loose hope.but if you have connected reverse terminals then you might have burnt it already.
Some sign of LIFE
To my surprise when I bought the phone from repairs and put the phone to the wall charger the NEO the batt LED just turned RED and than went off after a few seconds...
What Is the problem with this phone
do you sell your device?

Wht do u mean.

i have the BOX with all the acessories including the stylus and HF not used atall.
This is for the HTC
Hi,
can any one tell me what is POWER IC.
the service guy told me its the problem with power IC.
The estimation was around 90$.
But later informed me that part is not available any where on the planet earth...
and the entire board needs to be changed.and guess what he told the estimation "A COOL 425$"
i have some doubt :
why is the spares so expensive??
If the spares are not available than why does HTC manufacture such a phone.
SHAME ON HTC for making such a fragile phone..for which they cannt provide service.
I m as a profession here in INDIA working for a japan based co manufacturing hometheater..we do service the set which are not introduced here in INDIA (obvious at a premium) but it does not cost the set itself.
I think most of you will agree with me on this.
(pls second the motion if u guys agree.)
any ways mean while i mailed HTC but no use i dint get any respond from their side.
I think the company willnever pay attention for a petty issue like mine.
But its admin and moderators guys of the forum who if put a word with the company will take some measures.
PLZ Dont get me wrong and take it in true spirit.
Will This Solution Work.
HI
yesterday I had put my phone on an external charger the phone gave me a RED LED atleast now after eventually giving no sign at all...
Do u guys think this can help me further

I've posted a similar question in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=383319
My HD has packed in. I think it could be a battery problem and I'd like to try a different battery to check. I don't want to send the HD off to HTC for a month if I can solve the problem myself more easily.
Carphone Warehouse don't have a single HD in stock in the country so they're no help. Is there anybody near me in Sussex with an HD who'd be prepared to meet up so I could quickly try their battery please? It'd take 2 mins to discover whether that brings my HD back to life.
I'm between Worthing and Horsham.
Thanks in advance.

That's a fall-back option but it'd a bit cheeky to turn up looking for help with a non-branded phone on an O2 contract. I've just left Orange in disgust after finishing my contract early so the less contact I have with them the better. We'll see.
If it doesn't power on, how're they going to know?
Plus, they've clearly messed you around, so I'd say they owed you

Perhaps I'm too honest.
Riceburner, are we meeting up tonight? Did you get my PM?
Typically, I've just tried turning the phone on and it's working again. (The last time it worked was Thursday.) The unpredictable nature of the problem is half the reason why I don't want to send it away to HTC without doing a bit of research myself. They'll look at it and wonder why it's been sent to them. It needs to be used for the problem to appear. :banghead:
UPDATE
Update
Thank you to riceburner, who agreed to let me come and stand like a mong in his kitchen and try his battery in my device. That short test revealed that the problem wasn't the battery but the HD itself.
I bit the bullet and phoned HTC support directly, who very easily and professionally agreed to send UPS to collect my HD from my home the following day and investigate the problem.
It's just been returned to me about a week later, all fixed. The enclosed job sheet reveals a new main board was installed and sure enough the Wi-Fi MAC address has changed so it looks as though they're not kidding.
Thank you riceburner for your time, and a big thank you to HTC for the excellent way in which they've taken care of the problem for me. This was very good service indeed and exceeded my expectations.
No thanks to the original source of my phone, mobiles.co.uk, who referred me to Carphone Warehouse who didn't have any HDs in stock and therefore couldn't offer an exchange. But then you pays your money, you takes your chances...
I have my HD in my sweaty paws again and it's like having it for the first time again
Glad you got it sorted.
