I have sadly broke my screen but it looks fine, it's just the touch not working. Im new at this and I have no clue what the difference is between the lcd and the digitizer. I need to know what to replace on this. please help.
screen and digitizer
the screen is the actual lcd display while the digitizer "touch" part of tthe screen. now i havent replaced the screen on my wing yet but most units the screen and digitzar are one complete unit sometimes the digitizer can be seperated with a razor blade (not recomended) personaly i would replace the entire unit (lcd and digitizer)

Hi, i broke my Elfin display (T-mobile unlocked) my screen looks like this: (touchscreen is still working):
. I think i need the entire screen+digitizer thing and not only the digitizer? therefore this ? http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-screen-p-1900.html
Unlucky
The touch screen has 2 parts. The plastic outer screen is the digitizer and the lcd screen is the one underneath. When you take it appart the digitizer stays in the top of the housing and the lcd is attached to the middle bit.
Looks like you broke the LCD for sure but maybe the digitzer is ok - you will see as soon as you take it apart. The post here about how to disasemble a touch has clear pictures so check it out its quite easy to take apart if you follow the guide.
Yeah that definitely looks like you broke the LCD which is underneath the digitizer. Either take it to a service rep...or if you think you're up to it.....you can attempt to take the phone apart and replace the LCD yourself.
Hi,
The touch screen of my HTC elf doesn't work anymore.
I am going to order some parts to change the digitizer myself and also the casing to make it look a little newer.
Anyway, I'd like to understand how the touch functionality works exactly. Is it a pressure on the digitizer itself that make a "touch" or is it a pressure on the digitizer that press the screen and this action make a "touch" ?
When I power my disassemble Elf, a pressure on the screen itself doesn't do anything....
I'd like to know if I need to order a screen as well
Hi,
just replaced my own elf's digitizer a month ago... and the phone is like new.
To answer your question it's the digitizer that reads pressure and sends the data to the system (if you already disassembled it you should have noticed a flat cable that connects the digitizer to the board).
So if the screen on your elf is working you should solve the problem by replacing only the digitizer.
You rock, I order now
Hi
Yesterday I Replaced my Speaker, when I opend my HD2 I accedently lifted up the Glas from the LCD. I think the Glas is the Digitizer too. So now when I use the Touchscreen it clicks Randomly or slides randomly. What could cause the Problem and can I repair it?
thx for your help
if im not mistaken the digitizer is attached to the lcd glass facing down. might need to replace
you can replace the digitizer without the lcd panel, but it isn't easy to replace it because you need to seperate the digitizer from the lcd and the lcd can breake. it is easier to replace the digitizer with the lcd panel in one peace.
unfortunately it is more expensive than only the digitizer.
if you replace the digitizer you have to stick it to the lcd panel and it must be in the right position(as before)
After a few tests I found out that not the Digitizer is broken. Its a little tape like thing on the side of the screen(digitizer). Is this possible?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I still have my broken lcd and digitizer, it worked fine while i didnt replace it, the touch screen works, and no problems with the lcd, it is only cracked. The question is, can I do something useful with it?
Hi
I've dropped my HD2. Everything is working, including touch screen, I can unlock the phone, I can answer the call, but screen is black, not broken.
What should I do? Does the lcd screen replacement will be sufficient? In that case, could the screen be ok, but some other display "processor" could be dead? I'm asking because I'll try to this on my own.
Could simply be the lcd cable has slipped slightly but probably more likely an LCD replacement needed.
You need remove rear housing & have a look & make a decision from your findings/testing.
hello
I've got a little update - lcd screen is working well - I mean it displays the image, the only malfunction is backlit. Right now when i use flashlign I can actually see whats on screen. Do you have experience or think that backlit connection can be repaired? Do You have any schematics for hd2' lcd ?
I suspect new LCD required by sounds of it. LCD can not be stripped for repair so after basic inspection of external connection replacement is only solution & not expensive due to falling cost of HD2 parts.
