Enable Chinese and Japanese Regioanl Settings & Fonts to PDA/PPC - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Enable your wwe Chinese and Japanese
a year ago I just have my PDA Phone and I had to go study abroad to China, I had looked every where for a packet that could make my PDA able to read and write Chinese. I found a solution package from "PDA Mobiz" solved me out of this. Now I learned some thing new and I learned about Registry I found a font that make the Characters more Clear and more beautiful from the Official Chinese Dopod ROM. So I made my own package! and it works! (although the font file is a bit big - I still like it (^^) )
So, I want to share with any other who need it!
Download:
Simplified Chinese
For Chinese Keyboard I am using...
Handwriting:HWPen Olympic Version (Freeware)
Pinyin Keyboard:ZTA4 (Freeware)
All Regions
Vivi - All_Region

Is this Chinese Font included in your ROM WM6.1 M2D?

actually there's another one IME called MeiHua
It's much better that A4 !
Using it you can input number, english or chinese easily
and you can also diy your own word library with tools
supplied by the offical website.

Thanks for sharing,
Ricky, are you going to edit and compress also the bold YaHei?
The name of edited normal Yahei is MSYH while bold is Microsoft Yahei, so they can't be used together the way it's generally used (likewise Tahoma & TahomaBD, their internal Windows' name for both is 'Tahoma', so when you make font bold in applications like Word, it's ok; with different internal names, you need to change the font itself).
Please can you add bold font with the same system name (MSYH) as the one you've edited.
Also, what is ChinesePlus.exe for?
thanks Ricky, your fonts is always so good.

How do I display/input Chinese?

I had thought WM could display Chinese characters natively (I guess I'm too used to the iPhone features). Are there language packs that I have to download or something?
Or is it like Nokia phones where I have to flash to a specific firmware first? (God I hope not).
Install korenchithai.cab that will display Chinese, Thai, Japanese & Korean. I have already & it works a treat
install ce star 2.8r3c. and your device will support Chinese cheers
I'm sorry but where do I find these cab files? Sorry I guess it's been a loong time since I used WM and I'm a complete noob when it comes to the WM platform now..

(Dutch) Language Settings baked in

Hi,
It's great to see the Nexus is already been rooted; great job!!! Would it be possible for you master chefs to bake in some more languages, especially Dutch? Don't really care about the system language, but it would come in handy with the onscreen keyboard...
The Nexus currently support very little languages en More Locale doesn't seem to work for me...
Search the forums.
1 - If only keaboard - install HTC_IME and adb shell -> edit /data/data/htc.ime.android.htcime/shared_prefs/com.* and change number of keyboard to dutch (search for correct, 9=swedish)
2 - Install More Locale
- Install morelocale 2
- Install better keyboard
- install language pack for better keyboard
- set language to dutch in morelocale
- Enable better keyboard in setting
- Use long press in text input field to switch to better keyboard keyboard
- Enjoy dutch corrector
Werkt prima
The HTC_IME doesn't seem to be working for me (I didn't on my G1 as well), but better keyboard does the job!
Would it be possible in future ROM's to include additional languages or is a official release in Dutch needed?
I thinking on importing the Nexus One from US to The Netherlands soon. This because our provider "Vodafone" does not mention a definitive release date... only that they will release the nexus one "later this year".
By importing the Nexus One I hope that I can change the language of T9 of the keyboard to dutch so it suggests dutch words. Is this possible? Are the dutch language files already baked into the Nexus One stock ROM?
What do you guys suggest me to do? Wait for official release or import it from US and install additional language (if required)?
Thanks!

Flash it with the Cyanogen ROM (or another based on the AOSP) then that includes dutch (& many more).
Original ROM only supports english en some other ones but no dutch
How to get Dutch is explained in different thread

arabic support needed

I have HTC HD2 from T-mobile USA, Is there anyway to add arabic to it?
or just swich the rom the saudi rom that has arabic on it
easiest way is to switch to an Arabic ROM if you can find one.
I found this a friend left on my computer: C:\Users\George\HD2software\hd2\MOBiDIV_Arabware_454_AR_6.5_ALL_TSD_2010_Jan_28.cab
I believe this cab added Arabic support to his device. I don't know what it is or where it can be found (and I've never tried it obviously), but I think it did what he wanted.
i have the files.
you can search it aswell
'Mobidiv' is the way to do it.It's just like any other cab file you can easily install it and unistall it at any time and it's the same software used on the official arabic roms it will give you arabic support on your HD2.You can search for it here on the forum, or if you want you can pm me and i can provide you with the cab file.

[Q] Is there any guide for changing the language of the ROM??

Hope flash english to chinese.Anyone can offer a guide about how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

It's quite easy, but it depends on the ROM you are using. Some ROMs support specific languages (locales). To change the locale go to phone's "Settings" app. Tap on "Locale and text" entry and then tap on "Select locale" entry. Select your desired locale and reboot the device.
Sadly I have not seen Chinese locale in SG3 ROMs (probably because I was never looking for it). There is Korean locale in most of SG3 ROMs. Try flashing a couple of stock ROMs to see if they have Chinese locale or wait if someone replies which ROM is he using to get Chinese locale...

Thank you all the same……
Maybe my description is not clear enough ,I mean how to make the ROM support chinese by modifing some files of the ROM.
My english is not good enough, hope you can understand……

Oh, that's another matter...This would include translation of the corresponding files in the framework, and the OS itself. All .apk(s) need to be translated, which considers decompiling and the recompiling the whole .apk, hunting down the GUI .xml(s), adding the translation and so on...Isn't there Chinese Android translation/localization?
...and I forgot one very important thing, the Chinese fonts and grammar! This can cause many compatibility issues. As I understand, Chinese characters cannot be translated respectively from Alphabetical characters. This would involve coding/writing a new/separate module for decoding and encoding Chinese characters. If Chinese is similar to Korean, this is the place to start. Word prediction and autocerrect software would have to be written also - for the keyboard, new keyboard layout etc...A lot of work (assuming there is no Chinese localization for Android).

Thx a lot.
There are people who do the translation work on the Internet. But they are not able to turn every ROM to chinese version, especially when i find a ROM which i like from xda. I think i should try to find out how they do the work and learn it……
