How to find headset adapters?

I would like to use my Sony headset on my XDA II, but a normal adapter 2,5 => 3,5 mm does not work.
Could someone help me to joy of my mp3 albums :wink:

try your local electronics shop, radioshack, tandys, maplins or whatever there is out there in italy.
just get a stereo 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter
maplins sell them for 75p each

i use the retractable adaptor with the removable headphone; from there you can plug in any headset with a 3.5 jack. it already comes with a microphone so no worries about answering a call while listening to the tunes.

I bought this one about 1mnth ago, works perfect with my B&O headset

do all 2.5 stereo converters work as in do all 2.5 stereo adaptors have the mic part too ?

not all 2.5 - 3.5 mm jack converters have the mic; before i purhcased mine from the website i mentioned i saw a converter selling rather cheaply here in thailand. it was a very simple converter; plug the 2.5 jack to the xda's port and then plug in your headphones with the 3.5 jack. no mic; so if you received a call you could hear the person on the other end but not necessarity talk to him. you'd have to remove the jacks and answer the phone.
that's why i like the one i bought; the wire is retractable and thus avoids tangles. i can unplug the single headphone and put in my sony or b&o headset. if i receive a call i simly pull on the mic (extend the wire) and answer the call. as long as your headphone as a 3.5 mm jack it'll work with the converter.

I bought a converter for xda which allows stereo speakers/headset use however when I saw it I realised it is a very cheap adaptor that can be got for pennies, the reason I sent for it was because when I tried a standard 2.5 to 3.5 stereo adaptor it appeared reluctant to go into the socket, when the expensive adaptor came it said "this adaptor may appear reluctant to go in the socket, give it a push", so I spent enough to buy halfo a dozen and still got the same item

I just went back to the ebay sale that I got that adaptor from, even though it is being sold as xda/xda2 compatable, he has now put an addition to his ad saying that it dont work with xda2, doesnt make sense to me because the old xda1 headset seems to work ok as far as I know on xda2.

i use the xda2; but the converter i bought from the hk site i also used it for my xda1. when i bought the converter for the xda1; no problems with the plugs into the units port. when i then switched to xda2; i WAS worried that the plug of my converter wouldn't go in. it seemed kinda tight and snug; thus it did crossed my mind that i wasted money on the convereter. i studied it for quite a while and found out that it does work with the xda2 as well. i was a little reluctant about it at first; the customer service guy from the site said that the plug is used for both the xda1 and xda2. so i went ahead (and crossed my fingers) and pushed the plug inside the xda2's port. it went all the way in; and it works quite well. the present port of the xda2 is a little more pushed inside having the rubber cover and all. for the xda1 the port / plug was more exposed. but essentially they are the same and thus both work work with the same converter.

The standard 2.5 to 3.5 plug adaptor does not work with xda2, the size of the moulding and the rubber bung on the xda2 will not allow insertion, I have ordered one of the flying lead type, "link above", I will let you know if that works when it arrives.

Not yet a perfect one for XDA2
I have just received my pc-mobile.net retractable one. It fits the XDA2 socket nicely, no problem, and I can talk thro' the mic, I can plug in my favourite headphones, the volume control works....
The only problem is, the "Pickup" button on the Mic does not work on XDA2....

I bought the flying lead type of converter and although the end looks exactly like the end on the xda2 headphones and the moulding is small, it still does not work, it has to be pulled slighly out to work, I am giving up on this because I have a feeling that the socket will eventually end up banjaxed from all the insertions and withdrawals.

Do you think it is safe to hook up XDA2 to amplifier and thus play MP3 music on big speakers ?

Hi there, I am looking for a mini-usb to 2.5mm headset adapter for this lovely new thing. I snagged an adapter at a truckstop that said it would work with razr et al. however it doesn't work with this, are the pinouts different perhaps? If so can someone recommend where I can get an adapter for it? Two reasons why I am searching. First my workphone is a nextel i265, which means no BT, and second because I would prefer to have one headset and swap between both phones, and given that statement, I absolutely LOVE the Jabra wired headsets. So please and thanks in advance for any kind of help that can be provided.

Normal stereo headphones are 3,5 mm, I guess you'll want those.. In this case check this out: 11 pin to 3,5 mm

Actually looking for the 2.5, not currently caring about the stereo capabilities of the headset, if I want an mp3 player, I will carry around the much less fragile ipod Nano. I am looking just for a normal headset for hands free use while driving a car, and unfortunately, it just doesn't look like, at least first glance, that I am going to be able to use the same headset for both, and will just need two different physical headsets *sigh*

Hey everyone, I have been looking around to find an adapter that will allow you to charge the device, and has a plug(s) that allows for an external mic and ear phones. I have seen the ones that allow for just the 3.5 for music but don't have another plug for a mic input... Or they have a built in mic which will not work for me. The reason for this is so I can put it in my motorcycle helmet. I need to be able to attach a wind resistant mic. Also want to use my ear buds so I can actually hear people and music. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't think there is currently anything that will do what you want out of the box. You are probably going to have to get a soldering iron out and come up with a homebrew solution. You could wire up your wind resistant mic to replace the built in mic in either the standard headset or an adaptor. You are still going to need something like 11pin to 5&6pin or 3in1 adaptor to allow charging and audio/mic.

You can use the y-cable and stereo headphones w/ built in mic from the AT&T 8525 to do what you're asking.

I just wanted to share this as it may be helpful to new Tilt owners -
I stopped by a T-mobile store the other day and found that they sell a mini-USB to 3.5 mm headphone adapter for $9.99. It's made by HTC and is meant for the G1, but turns out it works flawlessly with the Tilt, too. It even has a microphone and a phone answer/hang up + voice command button on it, so it is quite neat- as long as you don't mind the extra length the adapter adds to your headphone.
Wonder why AT&T wouldn't sell such an accessory for the Tilt at their store.

I just bought a two-pack of these on eBay from some Chinese seller. I'll let you know how they work out once I get them.
$7.98 for two shipped. I have a friend with a tilt as well, so it works out.

because AT&T are a CHEAP organization when it comes to their wireless business. If you noticed, the original HTC Tilt phone comes with almost all the accessories and the stripped down version by AT&T comes with nothing, thank them for sending the phone at least

I bought the mini-USB to 3.5 mm headphone adapter by HTC from the T-mobile store...and it works amazing....

The product discussed in this topic is good, but the drawback is once the charger and headphone (or Aux input) is connected while driving you wont be able to answer a call unless you unplug the headphones, cause there is not mic access. This is where the mini-USB to 3.5 mm headphone adapter by HTC comes into play. It has a built in mic with the little answer button which will let you talk to the person on the other end.
I bought a 3.5mm audio splitter and audio connector cable (bundled package for 10$ from Walmart) and connected my phone (using the adapter) and my satellite radio to my auxiliary input. Cables and all tucked in nicely and clean. Now I can listen to my radio, video & audio files in my phone, make calls etc etc and enjoy all these through my car speakers. The satellite radio output dims when I get a call or make a call (or when ever there is a output from my phone). I noticed that there will be slight interference from the radio no matter what, so I just mute my satellite radio when I get a call. Excellent quality...
Still cannot charge my phone at the same time. Guess I will still have to visit the radioshack to buy a mini usb splitter...

Just bought the "G1" adapter at the local Tmobile store. Works as advertised! Great find.

Does the HD2 work with external microphones?

I've was on the market for a high quality audio recorder but they seem way more expensive than they should be (£100+) yet the only difference between price ranges is the options offered to the consumer.
I was wondering if the HD2 works with a microphone such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-ECM-DS70P-Microphone-Stereo-Plugin/dp/B00005QBV2 If so, it could probably equal the high end recording devices. 200 bucks worth. See I have the above microphone and I'm trying to record in notes but despite the microphone being read and distinguished by the headphone symbol in the HD2, it's not picking up the sound.
Does anyone know if the HD2 can support external microphones? If maybe a certain program needs to be used to activate it? It could be a great solution for high quality gig recordings and dictations.

The HD2 uses a jack plug with 3 rings, which you can see on the stock headphones, and the mic is wired to the "inboard" ring your mic doesn't have. That's to keep compatibility with any standard headphones.
So yes it can take an external mic, but it needs to be wired correctly to such a plug. And can obviously only be mono.
Then, whether it can record full quality or applies a "telephone" filter to the input needs testing.

Mono would be suffice, but as there are two mics on the external device, wouldn't there be any way to allow stereo?
What kind of plug are you talking about in regards to wiring it to one?

Just look at the headphones you received with the phone, and compare the plug with the one on your mic, you'll quickly understand
No way to get stereo as the HD2 only has a mono mic input.

For the Axim X50 / X51 PDAs there was an adapter that took a 3-connector mic jack and rooted it to the correct ring on the 4-connector Axim socket. I tried to find an example with not much luck, but here is a link to start with:
(I am not allowed to post a link; sorry) go to mobilitysite and look up "seidio-audio-adapters".
Unfortunately, the seidio product does not seem to exist anymore... Anyway, would an adapter like this work on the LEO? I would think so, same concept.
Another alternative would be to use the USB port with sthg like the griffin imic but with a micro-USB adapter. Any chance for this?
