Solution for power off at 40% battery on X1 - XPERIA X1 General

Hi I'm new to the forum and have search related issues wrt the battery problem I'm experiencing, in X1 thread as well as in universal search. There is nothing on it in the X1 specific threads but it is mentioned in threads elsewhere that the battery needs to be changed.
Anyway my problem is when the battery bar reaches 4 bars or 40%, my X1 will eventually goes power black off. I plug in the charger and battery start charging from 0% (ie. it has completely discharged to 0% power). As battery abruptly goes power off at 40% there is no power low warning. Troublesome having to manually monitor battery bar occasionally to avoid surprise power off.
Could it be battery calibration problem? Hopefully someone can assist to reset calibration on the X1 if it is possible. Thnks & hoping

battery issues
You may need a full software upload by doing a full customasation on your mobile that will refresh the bios of the phone but you will need a emma program acess that can be done at your repair centres for sonny ericsson but you will ned to request it from them otherwise they will only do a software upgrade witch might not fix your problem. Hope this will help you

Thanks for the suggestion. However is there anything i can do with the devise myself to resolve this problem.

JasJar crashes at 35% battery power

Hello,
I need your help with the following problem:
I have been using my Jasjar for 5 days now and I have a problem with the battery.
As soon as it gets to 35-40% battery power the unit switches off without any notice.
The only way I can turn it on again if I put it on a charger, and than it turns on again like after a soft reset.
I installed the latest ROM from the clubimate but none 3rd party applications.
Please let me know what can be this problem.
Thanks,
Zsolt
same problem here
Hi Ronaldovic,
Have you tried with another battery or just the original?
I was advised to change the original battery as that might be faulty but I couldn't get a new one yet.
Zsolt
For the O2 XDA Exec the battery has a 6 month warranty. You should check the situation with the JJ
battery issues..
I had similar issue and also where on switch on the screen light goes off and back on. This seems to be linked to battery chargin "top-ups" therefore sometimes the supply from the battery is not continously smooth. Try fully draining your battery and charging fully
I have same problem with my Exec. Any solution ??
I buy new battery but...when it gets to 25%, still switch off. So I dont think it's error of battery, may be it's bug of ROM for Exec???

1 month ago I have same problem. I think is not battery.
I make upgrade by all the ROM (JAS JAR, QTEQ, MDA PRO ecc.) but the problem I have not resolution, and 2 week ago my pda (MDA PRO T-Mobile) go in htc warranty.
Sorry for my bad english.
I have also noticed this problem a few days back. My Jasjar switches itself Off when the battery goes down to 22%.
I never used to have this problem when my Jasjar was with the original factory installed ROM version which was 1.13.53 WWE, Radio 1.03, ExtRom 1.13.137 WWE. When this ROM was installed I used to get the first low battery alarm at 20% and when the battery went down to 10% the screen would dim out and the SD card would deactivate, but still the unit would not shut itself out.
I installed the updated ROM when it became available in March which is 1.30.76, Radio 1.09.00 and ExtRom 1.30.164 WWE.
I am not too sure if the problem is linked with this ROM as I usually never allow my battery to run that low. However a few days back when I forgot to charge my battery I noticed this problem. I repeated this deliberately a number of times and each time the Jasjar shuts itself off exactly at 22%.
Just wondering if there are any solutions yet.
Regards
Same here, device just dies @ 26%. Was going to buy a new battery, but that might not resolve it?? *sigh*
RE
This battery issue has been discussed in two other similar threads.
In my case I just changed the default battery to a OEM one and everything works fine
Isn't the default battery an OEM battery? I'm tempted to buy one of the 1750 mAh batteries off of ebay (original JasJar battery is 1650 mAh) - is that a bad idea?
Try overnight charging of the battery for one or two days..this will solve yr problems...
Hi,
hard reset to your device, don't forget to get backup contacts, sms and data.
battery issue
I've had similar issues. Screen goes blank when battery low, plug in to charger and all is ok. What I've found is sometimes, not always, the battery screen brightness has gone to 0, but on-mains is set for full brightness. I never changed it, so maybe the device is trying to save power itself.
MNB.
Same here. My Jasjar dies sometimes when the battery is on 60%, 50%, 30%, 20%. etc. If I use the internet or camera or something then it will go dead, but not everytime.
Sometimes I can use anything and it will last till about 10% when the SD Card disables, then I charge it.
Don't know what to do. I don't want to buy a new battery if I'm not sure that is the problem.
Yes the same on my O2 Exec. Crashes at around 32% no matter what. Only remedy is to put it on charging again.
This started after I upgraded to the lastest O2 Rom; prior to that there was no problem whatsoever and I could go down to single digit battery percentages without any issue.
Is it the new ROM? Is there any work around to this malady?
Thanks to all who reply, in advance.
Cheers.
Well judging by the number of threads on the subject this problem is very widespread, check out the threads below:-

So can we say that downgrading does not fix it, or removing certain software combinations?
has anyone actually proved that replacing the battery works or not?
With the issue this widespread (and across carriers) has anyone tried to contact HTC about this? I still have my doubts that this is ROM related, seems more likely to me that many of the initial batch of batteries have gone bad.
My battery is on order with expansy. Expect it in the next 4 to 5 days and will definitely let you all know of my experience with the new battery

The 50% Magician

Hello guys... I have a problem in my O2 mini. every time the battery indicator goes 50%, my O2 mini shuts down, and I need to recharge the battery again to at least greater than 50% to turn it on. Can somebody tell me whats wrong? could it be the battery ? I already performed hard reset but still the same phenomenon occurs over and over again.... Meaning I could only use my O2 mini as half the time as the usual xda mini... Kindly help me please...
I had the same problem. My device started shutting down below 70%, so I knew it had something to do with the battery.
I replaced the battery and now I can still make calls at 4%!!
Try installing a new battery and see if it works..
Good luck..
ITS A MIRACLE!!! no father... its Coat Saver
Its just so mysterious... I was charging my xda 2 mini thru pc usb.. suddenly there was a blackout of power ... then it turned on again... i checked my mini... its not charging but the thing is...... it can now be operated below 50% ... it doesnt shuts down below 50% anymore... WHAT A MIRACLE!!!!
Same problem with mine, below somewhere around 50% puff!! Maybe it's the hardware battery indicator that is stuck and returns values fairly optimistic about the drownage of the battery.. and maybe traumatise it like joysonx had done would make it right. Who knows!!
same to mine
me too, mine can't work below 60%.
Maybe I should try joysonx methode to shocked the battery.
Cross ur finger hopes it work.

Thanks all guys so much !!!
have a nice day!!!
I have the same issue. Read this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432337
You can't fix it. I think it's a battery issue. If you have warranty go to the HP service center and insist they replace the whole unit or the battery. Does it happen all the time? Tell them to try with different battery charget at 15% and
with bluetooth and wi-fi on try to make a call - if it doesn't switch off it's the battery.
yep
yep, thats your battery dying. mine was in the same condition and i've bought a new battery. everything is o.k now.
Have you tried this update ?

Here comes the long answer
The updates fix the signal strenght but there won't be much improvement in battery life. Install them anyway as they might fix some other problems and some users report that they worked for them on the battery issue. For me they just fixed the signal strength. It's better to instal the patch for power source monitoring (1mb), then the whole firmware upgrade (53mb) and after that some of the custom wm 6.1 roms posted on this site. I get the shutdown issue very rarely because i keep the phone on a charger most of the time. It's good to have Xcpu scalar installed and when you want to save battery just put the cpu at 204 Mhz or even 100 Mhz. You'll be surprised that the device is still fast enough and this somehow prevents it from shutting down during phonecall. My guess is that the main cpu+bluetooth+Wifi consume too much energy per second (Wats/S) so the battery can't supply the power needed and turns off the PDA module. I think there is a separate qualcomm chipset that deals with the phone features so that;s why you still talk after the shutdown. So the problem must be the high power consumption. The solution is either new battery that would hopefully works better or "underclocking" the device when not watching video/playing games/browsing the web. That's it. Or you may try to get your device replaced at a HP service center in case you have a warranty.

Always power off without low power alert

If my HD has 20% power left and is running program, it will always power off without low power alert after a few minutes. Then, you must recharge it for power on.
In addition, I found that the refresh interval of power indicator looks slow, in other words, after it has been charged and run for a while, the power indictator is still 100%.
Can anybody tell me the reason and how to resolve it? Thanks!
Are you using the original battery?
Battery level is rather inaccurate, especially with 3rd party batteries, so don't take it for granted.
The battery is certainly an original battery.
Is there a possibility that the issue is relative to ROM version?
I have a experience that I flashed a rom of version 21109 into my HD, the issue occured every time. Afterward, I reflashed a stable rom of version 20769 back to it, the issue has never occured. But, several days ago, I flashed the newest radio into my HD, after that, the same issue occured anew.
I'd blame the battery, if it dies when your unit reports 20% charge, it must be in a pretty bad shape. If you can find a spare battery, give it a try...
was anything more found out about this? I also find my battery indicator very slow to update....soft reset my device and lost 5% power according to the battery...I have even had the reverse effect after a charge,....soft reset after a charge and seen MORE power than indicated.
This is making me paranoid and search for every last tweak to save power but it might be that the indicator is wrong in the first place - ideas?
Charge the battery full and let it drain to zero, and one time again.this should recalibrate the powermeter.
or your battery is old and broken...if you often charge your device when its not even required the battery will loose power and be dead in a very short time.
i know my english is not the best, hope you understand what i mean

Omnia Pro battery problem

Hello all, I would submit my problem to the community hoping to get useful information in that this completely undermines the use of this phone ...
The level of charge is shown to me is different from the actual charge left ... It takes a lot for you to come down around about 70% despite put "stress" and then usually the phone turn off .. after a few seconds of charging still shows me a nice load of about 80% .. in fact, completely wrong values
someone can give me a hand? this problem has made this phone unusable ...
Thank you in advance
problem solved guys ! you have to restore the battery chip following these steps:
-use totally you battery
-remove the battery from your device for about a minute
-put the battery into the device and charge it without powering it on
-when the charging process is complete, remove the battery from the device for about a minute
-insert the battery into the device and start normally
hope can be usefull for the future, enjoy !
