Hi,
Apologies in advance if I'm being incredibly stupid here, but has anyone successfully taken video clips using the xda2 camera and played them on the desktop? I've upgraded media player on the desktop to 9, I've installed the latest divx codecs - nothing. Both apps just complain at me.
Many thanks.
Spike.
i have the smae problem but i get video but no sound ????/
Hi,

Editing the Video Files from i-mate
Does any one know how to edit the files, as mentioned above you can play them no worries in Quicktime player from Apple but I want to edit them and plus I need to rotate som of them. there must be a program out there, but which one.
codecs
www.doom9.org
I got Quicktime Pro, it enables me to edit and rotate the moves as I wanted to. But when you save after say rotating the video it save the file as a Quicktime movie file which does not play on the i-mate. Any one know how to play that file on the phone.
Window Media player doesn't recognize.mp4, you could change the capture format to Motion-JPEG AVI. WMP does recognize this type of document. I have experieneced the same problem b4, since i change the capture format, it works perfect on my PC. Regarding the movie making, you could use Window XP's window movie maker. It also recognize the .AVI type of document. Once you import the document to Window Movie Maker, it will automaticall save it to the WMV format, which could be played on your PPC. Hope that helps your guys.
Hi,
I'm a newbie developing for PocketPC. Can anyone point me how to start developing a video recorder using the built-in camera on a XDA-III? I also need to have access to individual frames to perform some image interpretation such as motion detection. Any help is usefull. I use Visual Studio 2003
Thank you,
Miguel
the easy way would be to get some code as to how it's don on pc because
how you access frames from the streams are the same if you use a pda or pc
the files are still mp4 or avi or ...... what you set them to
if you grab and then work with the ripped file
if you want to do it real time you face 2 issues
1 the camera API is not public from HTC
2 the cpu's in pda's even though they are fast Mhz are much much slower then even pc cpu's of the same speed so real time checking the stream could be impossible
Hi Rudegar,
Thanks for the reply! On the PC i usually use a wrap library for DirectShow i don't think it's available for the PocketPC. Do you know where i can get the camera API?

Hi All
Hope you can help me - few quick questions about music & video on Wizard:
- what software can you recommend to listen to the music?
Please add info about price, version and supported formats of the software.
- what software can you recommend to watch the movies / clips?
As above...
- what is recommended and best format to store and to listen the music on Wizard? (file format, sample rate etc)
- what is recommended and best format to store and to watch the video / clips in full screen mode? (file format, resolution etc)
- what PC (workstation) software do you use to convert audio / video to the desirable formats?
- any advice about: how to effectively organise and store MM files or any feedback about best software to manage and format the memory card?
I know I can find almost all of the answers on the forum but they are in separate topics and your opinions are hard to compare, analyse and organise...
I think it could be interesting not only for me.
Thanks in advance
The best software for viewing video is TCPMP.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
By the way - it is free.
I agree, TCMP is a safe bet, it can play about anything and it's free. As for encoding, I guess PocketDivXEncoder (http://divx.ppccool.com) is as good as it gets (also free...) But you can also use VirtualDub or windows media encoder. The good thing about PocketDivXEncoder is that it's very user friendly and the output is really optimized for the ppc
Thanks!
Thanks Guys!
TCPMP (with few extra codecs) is really great!
I can say exactly the same about PocketDivXEncoder - really handy and user friendly, re/scalling - cutting only choosen area from the source - recoding is working perfect! You'd understand my enthusiasm if I tell you that I used to use few command-line tools for WinXP/Linux... It was a little bit faster but simply nightmare
Any other comment or advice?
Is anybody there?
Cheers
