Woohoo, we finally have Paid Apps here in the UK.
I'm running the JF v1.43 RC9 and can see them no problems.
They are all in $ though .... anyone in the UK seeing them in £ instead?
Damn, after all the wait .... I can't access te paid apps with my GAFYD account!!!!
You can do it with google apps but it's a hack. If you also create a gmail account on your account, disable pop/imap on it, and forward everything to an alias* on your apps doman you can tell marketplace to use the gmail address and it'll work with (apparently) no issues.
* You need to forward to an alias because it won't let you forward to the primary address, as it thinks it's forwarding to itself.
hehe woke up this morning to see paid app's in the marketplace! was kinda happy till i looked through them all and found nothing of interest... I'm sure some nice things will be released in the near future.
I have an unlock g1 and i can still see the paid app's i herd all unlocked one's cant acces paid app's??? do u have to use a credit card or can i use a debit card?

Pacman FTW
(That's a free app but didn't appear until all the paid apps appeared, possibly because it's 'on offer' rather than being actually free).

It uses Google Checkout, so will work with whatever works with that. I use a debit card here but different countries will have different rules.

I've had pacman since day 1
But yeah, got access to paid apps now, some are in $ some in £
The price depends on the location of the dev. Google checkout should automatically do the correct exchange rate for you.
I can't believe it ..Finally in UK

Just a heads up that later on tomorrow an application will be released to help people outside of "authorized" areas purchase applications for the G1 on the market. More information can be found at http://strazzere.com/blog/?p=249 or the italian version at http://www.androidiani.com/applicazioni/applicazioni-a-pagamento-sul-market-da-ora-si-puo-2169.
Basically it ended up being easier than we originally thought, though Andrea threw together an application to make it easier for people to do.
The program should be released early tomorrow with the source and an explanation of how it works and what not.
Enjoy! Ciao!
That's fantastic news, especially for devs of paid apps. This could bring them a lot of new customers.
Application has been released, more information is available here;

Wow, it works flawlessly
I am seriously impressed!
Nice!
By reading the descriptions, I can't tell if this just enables paid apps, or if protected apps are also enabled by this. Could you clarify?
Worked very well on my ADP-JF1.5 in germany

This enables PAID applications which previously could not be viewed outside of authorized areas.
Paid applications can be protected or unprotected, just as free applications can be protected or unprotected.
I'm stuck on "Authorizing credit card..." and cannot download any more paid apps (even though I paid for them).
What could be the problem? It worked before.
double post
Try adding your credit card here https://checkout.google.com/main. It works flawlessly with my Inteligo credit card.

I did and it worked... for some time :/
Ok, I cant thank enough the guys who made this WONDERFUL application !! I mean I was using the Moxier Mail app. for my exchange email untill it expired on 31st April. I couldnt buy the full version off Android MP. I was literally stuck with no mails!! Now im back onlineee )) This is really great ! Thankssss.
I tried it on my JF ADP1.5 and it worked flawless !! everything perfect from the first time !.
Are protected apps those that are located in app-private location, while non-protected ones in apps folder?
Ok, it works again... It must have been some bank related problem
I know that. You're still not answering the question. Do the PROTECTED APPS get enabled along with the PAID, or are they STILL DISABLED?

are you having troubles with it too?
No, since I'm new to this market. But, I saw somewhere that apps not working (or just updated to work on the mkt) w/2.1 are not showing up for the N1...
happened to me when i first rooted my phone. note that i rooted it before i ever even put in my sim card, but i think it had to do with that.
fixed it by wiping/factory resetting with my sim card in.
How does it work in Nexus market place? If you've already paid for an application, and have uninstall it say temporarily, will you be charged again when you re-download it?
If you bought it from a different market place, how will it know that you're already a paying customer in Nexus market place?
Doesn't matter.. if you've bought an app you can download it again for free. Apps I paid for a year ago on my G1 show up.
Tony, thanks for your reply. Good to hear that info on ownership is shared across the various markets.
if you mean the top paid apps tab in the marketplace app i was missing that also. i had started using the phone without a sim in it, so i wiped everything and restarted with sim in it right away and the top paid tab was back

That would be quite lame otherwise!
Paid apps tab
I had the paid app tab before. Today I just used the phone without a sim for the first time then put the sim back and now the paid app tab is not there anymore. Anyone having the same issue?
For whatever reason when I try to buy Beautiful Widgets off of the market, it has all payment options greyed out.
I can't use a credit card, I can't bill to my account, nothing.. It has done this for about a month now and I figured I'd finally ask.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Last I heard, HTC threatened the maker with legal action due to the similarity between the Sense weather/clock widget and Beautiful Widgets'.
That might have something to do with it. I dunno.

Yeah Thats True But They Cleared That Up.
To The OP I Have No Clue? Reboot The Phone And Try Again? It Let Me See My Options?
I just bought it yesterday. Could it be something with your google checkout?
Same issue for me. I can't seem to make it work. No payment options at all.

My AMEX is greyed out for some reason. I think there are issues with some credit cards not being valid with international orders.
I checked the AndApp store with no luck either, and I don't see any licensing available outside of the market for the app like with some other programs
Had the same problem trying to get Ultimate Juice too.

You are correct. You cannot place international orders with an AMEX. Beautiful Widgets is the reason I added a MC to my Google Checkout account.
If you aren't using AMEX, then you might want to contact them directly. My brother had a difficult time with the order going through for his Captivate and after several emails back and forth with them, was finally able to download it. It was apparently some problem with Google Checkout - but they weren't able to figure out exactly what. I think it was just a matter of trying multiple times over the course of a few days before it worked.

Same here.
Amex wouldn't allow a foreign transaction in Google Checkout. For me Mastercard appended a foreign fee of 0.05.
Last night when I was buying an adw theme for my tablet, I noticed that instead of the 99 cents I want supposed to be charged, I was charged 99 dollars. I checked and apparently there were not one, but two 99 dollar charges made to my account. I'm currently in a dispute right now with google over this. So my advice is to ensure you check the charges made before the fifteen minutes is up to avoid the hassle I'm currently going through
Are you sure you haven't bought 100 ones
Oh I'm positive.... I'm looking at the confirmation email right now where it shows me being charged $99.00.
I'm not sure why I got double billed though.
Just wanted to make everyone aware of this, as I purchase stuff frequently and nothing like this has happened before.

Just go back to the market and take a screen shot of the page to keep on file and send a copy to google with your complaint and check the decimal point ie $099. or $0.99
just could be a mistake.

I am adamant about making sure of stuff like that I have heard about sellers scamming in ways like that on the android/ios market before

The market doesn't seem to work for me since I flashed to 2.2.1. It always says there isn't an android phone associated with the account. That's ok, I've found tons of apps outside the market and use adp to install them.

Screenshots or you read "99.00 USD as 0.99 USD".
Lol this is why credit cards sucks. Pre-paid cards ftw
I still can't figure out why so many people use this unprotected **** -.-

you sure know how to stay on-topic.....
and my poor attempt to stay on topic is this:
There is usually some contact information given with the app you bought. Just contact them, and i'm pretty sure it's all a misunderstanding. And yes, make sure you post a screenshot of it saying 99p

Anyhow apparently it was a system glitch when I placed the order and I'm getting refunded immediately.

logged into youtube for the first time since using my Nexus 4, and it shows that i have 3 new purchases today. I have not made these purchases and can not find any charges on my credit card (that i use for online stuff) or my Wallet account. anyone else see this?
I know this is a stab in the dark, but worth a shot.
well, i found them, loks like my phone automatically snagged them in an update somewhere...
odd but free.
found in the play store order info screen along with some books and music...
Looks like they're doing what they did with the N7 I guess. N7 owners got transformers and some other junk like that for free.
I don't like the idea that the phone can do things like that without my permission. I mean if it can make purcases (that are free) what's to keep the same thing from happening for items that are not free?

Dude, they're just gifts from Google. Items that are automatically added to your account when you register a new Nexus device. The device didn't make any "purchases"--it didn't go out into the store and press buttons behind your back--these are just things that Google gifted into your account, and that's just how these gifts show up in your account, as so-called free "purchases" (they gotta show up somehow, right?).

It won't be able to make purchases without your permission if you tighten your tin foil hat.

How did you access your purchases on your nexus 4 in the youtube app ?
The way I did it was on the computer access the purchases then move those purchases to Favorites, then in the app, click on your profile then it should be there but only thing is that it says unsupported playback or something. What can I do to watch them on my phone?
