Hi,
I keep on suddenly losing phone connections.
When I try to do an automatic network selection, I received Network error message:
Cannot register on selected network. Choose another network, or disconnect your data connection and try again.
After I disconnect my data connection, it can connect again.
Does anybody knows whether this is a problem with my phone setting or with the network?
I've never encountered this kind of problem before. I have lost signal in weak/no signal area before, but the phone will usually find the signal automatically when the signal is available.

Try re-running the Connection Setup application under Settings->Connections...and let it re-set up your Operator connection settings. For some reason the Touch HD seems to loose the Cellular network settings, but keeps the Data network settings.
This happened to me this morning and re-ran the connection setup app and works fine again for me.

I have the same problem. I tried to instal different versions of ROMs but nothing. NO SERVICE!
I have the same problem on my HD a tryed to change some rom and radios but still have the problem HELP

tried radio flash etc but nothing , most annoying thing is i cant fgure out how to trulyl trun of dat conenctions . ther eoff in coms manager but it stil gives the turn off data conenctions message !

I'm in the same boat. The funny thing is that if I try a T-Moblie sim, everything is fine. When I put in my O2 or 3 SIM, no signal whatsoever (but I still get Internet connection).
Has anyone found a solution for this yet?

Sounds like your sim is locked to a pacific carrier and you'll need to unlock your sim card first before it will work.

First of all thanx for this great site, and second my english is bad sorry for that.
My problem like many other people like i see around google is that my HTC TOUCH HD suddenly lost connections and calls. I can´t receive og send messages. everything else work fine.
Here is what i did
Unsigned hardSPL

and from Miri wm 6.5 23017 manila 2.5
I also run blackstone_unlocker
and try´d diffrent simcarts
No matter what i do i get this error "cannot register on selected network choose another network or disconnect your data connection and try again.
My provider is TDC Mobil in Denmark
My phone is second hand so i dont have garanty
Is it af hardware og software problem? can anybody help me please if it´s
software problems.

I did all that with re-connact with no result i run blacktone unlocker suddenly it work. when i activate 3g i return back to same problem. when i do exactly the same thing with blackstoneunlocker i cannot open radio again. This time whatever i do it comes up with radio cannot unlock. Dataconnection cannot turn on. My simcart is unlocked also security is unlocked. So there must be a problem between 3g and dataconnection. i did also try diffrent radios but cannot open them with unlocker.
Anybody know where i can find a unlocked radio?
is it possible to flash on the Raphael with radio 1.08.25.20M1 Raphael?
right now i have radio 1.4 can i go down to 1.09.25.14 Blackstone?
I hope it´s not to many questions this thing with radio really get in my head.

i found af place where i could get a serial number and downloaded Latest Official ROMs from HTC.
ROM version: 1.57.831.1
Radio version: 1.14.25.24
For Europe based Devices here are a list of a SNs to download the ROM directly from the official site

Just put the serial number when asked and flash your device and id should work.
For Device that were bought from Hong Kong (English Version) use the following S/N to download the latest rom from the official HTC site.. current ROM

I also have the same problem (Malaysia,KL). It only happened on auto-3G, if I switch off 3G, the phone is OK. BUT some times it is ok even on auto-3G. The problem normally start when I move out from my area. The problem can be partly solved by using Ongkolog Superlite version 6.1 -- meaning sometime it ok and some time it is not
Same F*** problem, nothing works!
IMEI may be, can't change it so can't test it.

Edit: Looks like the phone is bricked.Will send to warranty.

Hello, my hermes has frequent disconnection ( 3G to edge - edge 3G - etc.. ) from mobile network and i cannot to receive/send call . Even when the signal seems good my phone cannot receive call. At times, when i receive a call i cannot to answer.
I have upgraded to official ROM: 2.11.258.1 ITA but the problem remain.
I have upgraded to various WM6 ( LVSW, BlackMajik, 3DES ) but the problem remain. My SN begin HT628F.... I dont' know if it is hardware or software problem.

First and foremost, upgrading to various WM6 ROMs will not help you.
Try and upgrade your radio instead. Look into the wikis for the various radios to try.
But before you do all that, I hope your device is HardSPL.

Dear Leo, thanks. I have upgraded any radio firmware placed in wiki but the problem remain In this moment for example signal is strenght in edge but cannot receive call . My actual ROM is 3.29.707.4 - Radio 1.27.00.00

Have you tried switching off WCDMA and forcing the phone to GSM only. It may be a set-up problem with the higher speed network.
Start\Settings\Phone\Band
Then select from the dropdown menus:
GSM
and/or
select the relevant bandwidth.

Do you have the official ITA rom on your phone now? and also did you have the same problem when you used other roms? The only thing I can think is that maybe the ITA rom disables some functions. Maybe you can try another rom, or hard reset then soft reset before the customisations start to see if you get the functions back.
I'm guessing you want the ITA rom for the language - I can't help here unless you get in touch with schaps to help him translate his great rom into italian http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312604
radio problem
hi all
i think i also have the same problem. but mine's with text messaging. i can't send or receive messages flawlessly, especially when multiple messages are incoming. i can't receive all of them.
at other times, i can't send when a message is incoming, and vice versa. i'm currently using Black Majik and my radio is 1.43

Can anyone help me they said that it could be a software problem with the unlock

try a hard reset if a soft reset does not fix it
sounds to me like a radio flashing went wrong

Did you try to install anything ?? or did you try to do any ROM upgrade (if you are familiar)
How did all these started ?? give us some details & we might be able to help you
Also can you turn phone on at all now? Can you enter bootloader screen? What does your SPL say?

You could always put your phone into bootloader and flash a radio

You flash a radio the same way you would flash a rom. First of all you need USPL or HSPL on your device. I recommend you read these threads for guidance:

I would start with radio 1.14.25.24 as this is latest blackstone radio

You have a vast choice of roms to use, either stock roms direct from HTC site or from the wiki here or cooked roms from this forum
Would be impossible for me to recommend one as everyone is different and your tastes may well be different from mine. Also you have different windows versions, i.e. wm6.1 & wm6.5. All I can say is try a few and make your own conclusions. At present I am currently using Throys WM6.5 R9 rom

ok if I was your support guy for your problem I'd need more info like
1. What unlocking software and from where did you get it?
2. what network are you on?
3. where in the world are you? (geography can be a problem)
4. what rom did you flash to?
5. (this is where I check in 6.5) in settings, connections, connection setup what does it say?
6. in settings, phone information what model does it say you have ?
with luck giving us this info might give us an idea what has happened

The original one from HTC the last one(1.57.831.1) i tryed aother ones 2. but the problem started before i tryed to flash any rom for first time.

You may find that the phone is stolen and phone networks have blocked the IMEI Number this maybe why you donot have any reception
Try asking your Network phone company if this phone is blocked
I Already call and no its not blocked by imei

I've tried to install new ROM with win 6.5 few days ago. So I've update my radio rom at the same time with the version 1.59.46.12.
No problem with the installation, everything seems to work fine...
But since, I've got trouble with my 3G connection... If I stay in EDGE everything work fine, it connect to internet etc.
But as soon as I have an HSDPA connection, I lost network connection and I never get it again... I have to turn manually in GSM mode only to get a signal again...
I've tried radio 1.65.30.09 but it's the same thing and I've downgraded to the win 6.1 3Lit3 VIII and I've got the same
I don't know what to do... I've got the right radio version for the ROMs I've tried so I think it'll be stupid to try a 1.58xx or 1.64xx but I have no other idea :/ Maybe I'll tried this tonight but with no much hope...
I'll tried again with an other ROM too, but if you have an other idea, I'll take it...

Install your original rom and try again. Downgrade your radio first to 1.59.xx.

I've tried to reinstall the official HTC ROM... It's the same...
I don't know what to do... That sucks (a lot)

This is strange ..maybe your gsm provider has the problem..It happens some times.
Hum, yes but I've tried in different places and I have the problem for few days now It's a long time for a provider problem I think.
May the flash of the radio break something? Like the 3G receiver in the phone? :/ I don't know, I have no much knowledge in this domain...
Or maybe it's the sim card? I will try to find an other sim today to try with it...

Reinstalling the official ROM and associated radio of my provider (orange) doesn't change anything...

I had exactly the same problem.
I'm sorry to say this, but the only way to fix it is by replacing the motherboard.
Don' t spend any more time flashing roms or radios, it's useless.
You should find those guaranty papers as soon as possible.
They replaced mine with no cost.
Remember to remove hard-spl and then
flash original rom before visitng service point !!

I'd like to add, the Polaris has a very weak gsm antenna. I've done a test, with all possible radios on my polaris i get max 3 bars and a GPRS icon. While on the exact same spot, when starting up my nokia 5800 XM gets full bars and 3.75G.

My problem its goin me crazy..
Cause I have a Diamond, works perfect, and my friends have a ELf, and told me she having some problems with the phone cause, when she turn it on works perfect but dont receving any calls or something like this.
Just the cellphone works perfect but she cant make and receving calls or msg anyway...
I know the cellphone its original, so I think i gonna update de signed RUU .. and I think gonna be better, so I make this.. update perfectly and now Im using a ROM : [05 Dec 2009] [ROM] WM 6.5 21876 + M2D 2.0 + Default WM 6.5 CHome
So the new ROM found my OPERATOR NETWORK, install and tell me to restar the phone, I make this so when turn it on again, my network can't be found... the signal, always try to find and nothing...
In older version appear a msg: "We have problem to connect to your network Wanna found a new one? If not try to update your system"
Something like this, just found crazy operators, cause im from Brazil and only if find a operator, its TIM / OI / VIVO / CLARO
no exist any others.. just this .. and I try with TIM chip and OI chip (chip = SID)
And apper the same error now on New version using new rom?!
Somebody knows how i fix that? Just need connect to local network of my operator ?!?! all the rest from cellphone works perfect..

I have HTC touch HD and a really need some help. My phone don't want to run without 3G, don't find any network on GSM. I tried to download from the official web site of HTC the ROM updates, there they want to type the serial number of the machine but the system says that this update is not for my phone. like it's not my serial. this is the number HT92PKD00252. I REALY need help to run my machine on GSM network without 3G because i live in Bulgaria and we don't really have good 3G network ))

have you made sure that the hd supports the gsm frequency from your provider?
i've seen another HTC Touch HD working perfectly on GSM network.

Maybe updating ROM to cooked one or radio to newer one will help?
Or just disabling 3G in phone settings?

i can't update ROm because it won't starts instalation, it says that ROM is not for my Phone. In the site of HTC when i start download the ROM ot want from me to write the serial number of the phone and next says to me wrong serial .... i think my machine is not right
Try upgrading ROM with USPL... [USPL] - Blackstone USPL, or how to keep your stock SPL and flash cooked ROMs . It works at least with Miri, Topix and Cloudy ROMs (I tried that). Also works with any stock ROM.
If that doesn't work, try HSPL... [HSPL]Hard-SPL Unlocker for Blackstone - Released for 1.56 ROMs too now
Make sure you set "Auto" for both network type and GSM/UMTS band in Settings > Personal > Phone > Band
