Leaving Herald Forum - Wing, P4350 General

Yes. After reaching a state where I was content with my phone, and happy with the way it functioned, tragedy struck. Alas, a student in one of my classes could not resist the temptation to make a getaway with my wing. It was stolen on Monday. This, after getting used to the fact that it had all these memory issues and performance setbacks. Master chefs like itje, ttran, aserg and finally, my favorite, ivan, made the phone truly great.
I always used it to play music during my martial arts classes. I teach Capoeira, and music is an integral part of the class. After two years using it in this manner some kid absconded it. I was so disappointed
So here I am. I know newer technology exist. And I know that to go with the wing again is not very prudent. I can get a used Tilt or Hermes for 200 on craigslist. If i wanna get fancy there are dudes in my area selling diamonds for 300. So alas, I must upgrade. And no g1 for me , thanks.
Bye guys. Its been a great ride. I joined for my lil chicken wing so heres to the memorys and headaches

yeah get a tilt on eghey. i went from wing to tilt and i have been so happy other than the battery lasts longer on the wing.
sorry to hear about your tragic loss.

wow. i was thinking of getting the tilt. for a hundred bucks more i can get a touch pro on craigslist in nyc. im in a dilemma.
crazy you say the battery is worse on the tilt. i had to charge my wing mid day quite often. i was hoping not to have to carry around a charger anymore.

I am Back.
The phone was found by me on a child in the school. Unfortunately he would not admit the error. I matched the imei numbers, I couldn't believe some of my co-workers wanted proof, to show it was the same phone. I half started thinking it might not be the same phone from being second guessed. But after more than a year you know what your phone looks like.
So i guess I am Back. I am actually thinking of selling the touch pro I had to recoup the money in this bad economy and stick with my chicken wing. I am going to post in the XDA marketplace and see what turns up.

New Refurb from ATT. Unlocked and you pick OS.
golly wow me! another BIG contributor divesting himself of his 8525! wonder whats going on..
is the kaiser out? been out of circulation for awhile..
The auction end tomarrow. 1045ish AM EST.
I'll bet wpbear got an iPhone
Code:
toddjg ducks and runs for cover
Funny, but while waiting for the Kaiser I have grown to like a device that I thought I would never like.....The BlackJack.
Other than wifi, the BlackJack is actaully more stable than the Hermes. Also if WM6 with internet sharing ever comes out from ATT (It has been delayed AGAIN) for the BlackJack there may be more reasons to stay with the BlackJack. But when I get bored I want something to play with so once the developing gets going I will get a Kaiser for fun.
Also....keep bidding all proceeds go to the savings account for future Kiaser fun

I'm definitely tossing my Unlocked 8525 on Ebay or offer it to a friend once the Tilt comes out. Hopefully it lives up to the hype and ATT doesn't kill everything good about it to me GPS.

I wouldnt wait too long if you want a decent price for it. I sold my original one in mid August and got $365 easy and definitly couldve gotten more but I priced it low since the device was a year old. Now I am having a hard time getting $300. On Att website refurb with 2 year contract and SIM locked they are $200. So I would say the market is not as good now for the seller and will get worse at the Kaiser goes mainstream.

I have a Blackjack but I use my 8525 instead. The only real problem I have with the Blackjack is the lack of screen real estate.
I haven't found it to be all that stable compared to the 8525. However I have only recently started using these forums. Are there any better ROMs for the Blackjack that I should look at? Seems the AT&T standadr install on the BlackJack is pretty plain, nothing special. Suggestions?
Again, it still is lacking in screen. I wish they would have thought that one out. It's a nifty little device but doesn't compare to my 8525 as far as I have seen.

So many purchase problems, now I am thinking iphone

I have tried unsuccessfully to purchase a Wing twice now. Last night I made a bid on a third one, however so much time has passed since I have been trying to get one that I am now out of time. I lost my phone last week and need a new one by Wednesday. In order to get my phone I will have to overnight it for early arrival on Wednesday. The total cost now puts me close to 400 which is the neighborhood of an iphone. When the iphone first came out I swore it was the phone for me but I wasn’t going to spend 600 for it. They have dropped in price to 399 for the 8 gig phone. I am going to have to unlock the phone though for T-mobile service which scares me a bit. I kept pretty close tabs on the whole unlock the iphone saga when it was first being done and it seemed that there was a pretty high failure rate at that time. A quick check on eBay reveals that there are a plethora of unlocked iphones for sale which tells me that they have perfected the process. So now I am at a cross roads. I can get the iphone tomorrow from an Apple store or AT&T’s stores. The Wing will have to be sent overnight if I can convince the seller to drop everything and run down to a FedEx office. So given the pros and cons of the purchase I see a pretty close match. Maybe I should be looking at the phones themselves. The processor on the iphone is way more powerful and so is the storage space. The thing I don’t like about the iphone is that it’s a mac which means I may have issues getting software for it on the open market. Then again it’s a seriously popular device and people may be writing all sorts of tools and software for it. It doesn’t have a dedicated keyboard either which I liked about the wing. So given the choice, should I seriously stick with the Wing or should I make the switch to the iphone? Opinions count but I would like to hear some concrete facts about the differences if I am to make a logical decision. Thanks in advance.
Have you considered you can walk into a Tmobile Store and get a wing for $349?
You talk about walking into an Apple Store vs. having a Wing shipped to you.... and that seems to be the deciding factor on which phone you're going to get. If you walk into a Tmobile store, you can get a Wing for $350 plus tax .... and if you walk into an Apple store, you can get an iPhone for $399 plus tax.
actually I cant get the wing for 349. It's a real pisser and if that was true I would have done that a week ago. I lost my phone (V3 Razor) about a week ago. The first thought that came to mind was go to T-mobile and get a new phone. My second thought was to upgrade into something like the Wing. I didn't know it existed at the time, but I thought that it would be a nice iPhone substitute at 350 since I believed the iphone to be 600. As it turns out I am 10 months away from my contract ending with T-mobile. I am 8 months away from qualifying for any T-mobile phone rebates. The Wing is 499 retail with 100 instant rebate and 50 mail in all of which require 2 additional years of contract. T-mobile will not allow me to extend my contract until I am 2 months or less from my current contract expiration. So to that end and to your point, the phone is not 350 to me it is 499 to me. That is why I started my search on eBay. I thought then as I think now, I can get a better deal on the Wing through eBay. However, I had the damnedest luck on this particular auction. I bid and won my first auction about 5 days ago and have not heard 1 word from the seller regarding the close of the auction. I believe he died and luckily I hadn't sent him any money. Maybe someday I will hear from the guy but at this point he wont respond to any emails nor has he complained about me not paying for the auction. I decided to try again and won a second auction for 255 on the wing. Great deal I thought until I actually paid for the auction only to find out that he already sold the phone to another party as well as collecting payment from me too. Now I have to deal with that big pile of crap but I still need a phone. So here I am needing to win yet another auction for my wing or I can just go to an At&t store and pick up the iphone.
Tough decision to make, one that i considered also. A couple of things to note first is:
Longevity: Remember iphone 2.0 is already in the works and might drop by the end of next year. Also remember T-Mobile's 3g service should start seeing implementation beginning next year. So now the question is, how long are you planning on keeping this phone? Another thing to consider is resale value if you opt to get another phone next year. I would assume an iphone in great condition should have a higher resale value over time than the wing.
Specs: iPhone is more powerful than Wing and also has more storage, has a multitouch display that is larger and with higher resolution.
UI and OS: iPhone beats Wing hands down for STOCK UI and OS, athough it is an unfair advantage. Apple made OSX on the iPhone from the ground up. It only has one platform to work with whereas WM6 is created to be cross-platform and work for different SP, PPC, and PDA that all have different specs and components. Although the dev comm definitely did an outstanding job of making wm6 more user friendly, and with upgrades to wm6 like Shadows's UI and Android around the corner, we'll see how this develops.
Dev. Community: Apple is releasing a SDK for iPhone early next year, so you should start seeing software for iPhone given enough time. Wing has an established dev comm as you can see - xda (The best!), modaco, howardforums, and others.
Apple vs. Microsoft: Which is the lesser of two evils?
Warranty: unlock your iPhone and you just voided your warranty. At least with wing something happens to it, you should be able to have T-Mobile help you in some way. At least, i would think.
Personally, i'm happy with my Wing. It might be no iPhone, but then again no other is. It's the little device that could, and while there are more powerful phones on the market, it still holds it own. Plus i like the idea that i can abuse it more than the iPhone. I feel HTC makes quality phones and i can't wait to see if T-Mobile releases HTC Touch Cruise for its 3g service (please, please, please). Plus, it's not a F'ing Sidekick! lol.
Unless you are in dire need of a pda phone right now, i would buy a cheap phone for the time and wait until the next round of pda phones come out. Take a look at the ATT tilt, for instance, much more powerful than the wing and im sure we'll see a price drop pretty quick.
Have you considered this?
http://www.fatwallet.org/forums/messageview.php?catid=18&threadid=733578
This is where I bought my wing, when the price was $49 after rebate, now it's $79 with free bluetooth headphone. You do need to sign-up another one year contract (no activation fee, free 2-day shipping) with Tmobile though, but you can combine your twon lines to a family plan and save some $$.
contract
unless you are within 2 months of your current contract expiring, you can not renew your contract with tmobile. Your account must be 60 days to contract expiration before you can get any rebates or discounts applied to your phone. I have mentioned that twice so far. It's a very important tip to pass on and to keep in mind with your own upgrade decisions in the future. If I qualified for any sort of assistance I would have bought the wing long ago.
FYI..I ended up with 3 failed auctions for the wing. Very strange situatation to say the least. In the end I went with the iphone but I am starting to wonder if that was a wise choice considering all the trouble I have had with it over the last week. I attempted for 48 hours straight to hack the iphone for use on t-mobile service. Apple has released an update sometime last month that pretty much locks the phone down for the next couple of weeks or months. Someone will surely figure out a way around it but for now its damn near impossible. I decided to sign up with att service and only after a week of fooling with this phone did I finally get it working today. About 6 hours after finally getting the phone up and running did I discover that it doesnt have VOIP support. Now at first glance that might seem like a meaningless attribute but this was the primary reason for me starting this little adventure of phone upgrading. I am going to start a new thread because I have more to tell and need help in making a choice.
if you use your phone almost like laptop then you won't like the iPhone. You will for for a little while till the wow factor wares off. It's definately pretty and very nice with all its tricks but the simple things it cant do. Some 3rd party apps attempt to fix this but it doesnt work all too well.
You'll take things for granted such as browsing to a site to download something and email it as an attatchment to someone or yourself.

How long do you plan to keep your Hermes?

i assume everyone here on XDA is a gadget freak who constantly upgrades over and over again and again.
Hermes should be fairly "old" by cellphone standards and as the current batch of cooked ROMs mature w/6.5 kernel coming into play it should be more stable and even more mature. winmo 7.0 is a maybe at this time, or it might require all new hardware.
how long do u plan to keep it. i expect most answers to be:
-until XYZ model/gadget comes out.
as for myself, i'm either;
-waiting for my contract to expire end of this summer and replcacing it w/the June iPhone
or
-waiting for NVidia's Tegra-enabled smartphone to debut. it will finally match my expectations of speed for a mobile device. hermes is really slow =( even if i use a bare/naked no app build.
Waiting till it breaks i guess. I have nothing against the phone.. Compared to my Co-Workers Phones' Mine is Pretty much a Beast.
Or if i find a good 8925 (Tilt, Kaiser) or Possibly a Sony Ericsson X1 for pretty cheap, I might consider it.
probably as long as it works, I'm saving up for a Kaiser right now but I will still be keeping my 'bankie' even if I get a Kaiser.
Suits my needs... Have a 2nd Jasjam spare for when my current one dies...
I have five 8525's that I have flashed with WWE ROM. I ll keep them till I can't canibalize them anymore, Then I'll buy somrthing with the current WMo os.
2 weeks or less if im lucky i have the white screen problem and the fix doesnt work with it.
i have a touch pro but the screen wont align due to a dead spot so i am just waiting on the new screen coming from hong kong then bye bye hermes you did me well
Still a strong contender - Like a new phone with 6.5
To be honest, none of the WinMo successors have really wowed me as anything more than small upgrades to this phone , which was an absolute milestone in terms of funtionality when it was launched (just consider that, 2.5 years after launch it still has faster data transfer speeds than the current iPhone).
I was lusting after the Raphael until the 6.5 ROMs came out for Hermes. I had no idea that the TyTn could run a 6.5 ROM so smoothly. It's basically like a new phone. At this stage, I'm no longer considering the Touch Pro and will probably wait for the Touch Pro 2 to come out or for my Hermes to break...
X1i
Though, I already have my X1i (Xperia), I will keep my hermes until ... i dunno as long as it is still working...
I too was wating on the TP2, and saving my pennies....
But, then the Amazon deal for a <$100 Dream showed up, and that went out the window!
I sold my Hermes to my brother, and got a white G1.
I will rock the G1 for a while, and keep an eye on Tegra & used TP2 prices. And watch the WM6.5/7 & Android tango to see what's working well.
-bZj
I keep my Hermes until the end of June, when my contract gets renewed and i own the Touch HD
But i will keep my Hermes further on for testing/development purpose.
And because i got so used to it and love it
for as long as it will run i dont really care if new models are out
Until it dies.
Or Someone gives me a t-mobile g1
i already keep it more than 3years, still like it
Hope this is ok to post this here...
Could anyone help me make an educated decision between the TyTn and the TyTn 2? (Or even a better phone) I've been cruzing ebay for an unlocked or att phone and i came across the TyTn in my searches. It looks like a great phone and HTC makes some of the coolest phones I've seen.
I only want to pay about $100 to $150 (maybe 200 if its worth it). I wont have a data plan but have access to wifi a lot. And I would like to make use of windows mobile. The TyTn is going for about 150 or less on ebay. I'm just worried that its too old of a phone or maybe that the new TyTn 2 is better? I'm leaning towards the old TyTn. Any thoughts would be great. As far as I can see the TyTn 2 is hardly different other than GPS and tilting screen, but you guys are the experts! Any help would be great.
tytn2 is better... but it's still basically tytn1. i, too, was also checking out tytn2 for the longest time... until touchpro 2.
personally, i've been looking at TP2 for longer and longer times and the more i look at it, the more i love it!!! if it ever debuts here in the US on TMobile i'm definitely pulling the trigger on it. my hermes is clanky compared to the thinner TP2. it looks beautiful and has more processing power. and it's time for me to renew anyways and i've wanted to transition to TMobile for the longest time now. so here's a hoping =).
Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm pretty much set on the TyTn 2 now. But people keep saying i should get the Fuze. I dont really like the fuze though. I saw it in an ATT store the other day and it felt flimsy. And for me, the price to performance ratio isnt worth it. The only cool thing i see is its faster, better screen and its slimmer. I think I'll enjoy the TyTn 2 better.

Well, I just picked up a brand new 8525 from AT&T for $100. I did extend my contract, but I'm not changing as I have been very pleased with their service. If I don't like it, I'll give it to my wife who does and get a Fuze. This thing is very fast. I just don't like the lack of internal memory or GPS. I have a GPS mouse that I've used with my Wizard for 3 years, so there's no need to spend more than that at this point. For kicks and giggles, I tethered it to my iMac this morning and there was no difference in speed between it and my cable modem connection. I'm probably going to do a direct port of the HTC Kaiser official 6.1 ROM if I can get a little spare time, so I'm sure I'll be holding on to it for a while.
Ive had mine for several years now (its been shelved since I got my Kaiser a year ago), finally gave it to my counterpart 3 weeks ago - and now its a brick. lol..
She needs a new phone - im happy with my Kaiser.
I have a Fuze now but am using my 8525 with no sim, a powered mount, i-Blue bluetooth GPS and IGuidance as my motorcycle GPS device and in a pinch could still put the sim back in.

G1 stilll worth getting?

I'm considering jumping to T-Mobile here in a few days, as my Sprint contract is ending. A friend of mine is selling his G1 for pretty cheap in good condition. That combined with the Even More Plus plans sounds like a better deal than being stuck in a contract again for 2 years.
I know the phone is crazy old, but it still seems to have great support for roms and such. I have no problems with rooting and flashing at all.
Also, for the people who are with T-Mobile right now, if I start a Even More Plus plan right now, would I be able to "upgrade" to contracted phone down the road, which would prompt me to the more expensive plan, should I ever get a real itch for a Vibrant or things coming out later this year.
I just got mine today lol i love it
My other phone is a tilt 2 tho
Really no point. On CL in my city g1s are 60 used 120ish new. It still has awsome support but remember, its close to 2 years old.... With technology going at the pace its at, think of it like comparing a 2010 mustang against a very well maintained 1985 mustang. Its definately a usable phone and will make you pleased, but won't compare with the advancements in speed, fuel economy, safety, etc...
If you asked this question 7-8 months ago, I would have totally recomended it. Now, not so much.
P.S. download the APN on/off widget or APNdroid to turn off data, so you can qualify for cheaper talk/text only plans. Data is roughly $20-30 more expensive, plus your phone will be functional under wifi. Plus battery lasts longer
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using XDA App
i would say the same as mej,
but totally.. now.. its not much worth. I would totally go for a nexus one if i had to buy a new phone
T-Mobile don't even sell G1s anymore, do they?
Anyways, if you're getting a contract, don't buy an old phone! Get a myTouch slide or wait for the Sidekick Twist.
I would just get the Vibrant right now, because I think if you come into your contract with a used G1 you can't get a new phone till you're up for an upgrade. Besides, the Vibrant(along with most of the other Galaxy S lineup) is top of the line right now. They are benchmarking higher video framerates than a EVO 4G. Plus it has 720p HD video recording, and HD video out so you can play back what you recorded on a hdtv. Also has a accelerometer and gyroscope, giving it a 6-axis g-sensor for epic gaming. Oh yeah, and it's the baddest phone T-Mo has right now, period.
I purchases my G1 2 months ago, best buy ever (paid 100 uk pound, around 130euro then, with 8GB microsd, ...).
Still no phone with a tilt keyboard yet (had a tilt, htc kaiser, much better then htc pro, but the G1 has a nicer touch screen (the tilt was also running android 2.1).
If your stuck on Tmobile, don't want to spend too much, and want a new phone before your contract ends, then go for it
Nowadays with a new contract you can get some pretty good phones for really cheap prices
I've had my G1 since I received it after preordering it. It's an EXCELLENT phone. However, it's age is showing. There are some things it simply cannot do and many things it cannot do well.
If you're going the as-cheap-as-I-can route in the short-term, a G1 may do the trick (And, if it were January of 2009, I'd say get the G1.). But, as it's been said before, if you're going to be locked into a 2 year contract, you'll really want to get hardware with enough power to last you those two years and not leave you wanting more.
Personally, if I were buying right now, it would either be a NexusOne or a Vibrant. Something with enough processing power and RAM for Android 2.2+
Good luck!
I got my G1 this past January... and while I don't regret it, there's no chance I'd buy this phone now. Every day I wish this thing had a Snapdragon in it. If you're really worried about contracts go with an unlocked phone for more money upfront - at least with T-Mobile, the plan will be cheaper, so it'll even out.
Again, the G1 is a great phone and I love the design/form factor, but for this day and age it's just not fast enough.
I don't believe you'll be able to take an Even More Plus plan and then go to an Even More plan right off the back, at least not with your same number...but, If you sign up for google Voice at the same time as getting the g1, give out that number to everyone as your new number, when you upgrade your to a contract(if you do), that GV number will still be the same and you'll just have to change the number under your GV settings.
Would I buy a G1 right now? If it was 0-50, maybe 75 with an 8 gig sd card. We've got 2.2 running on our phones now as a daily driver. it makes/receives calls, what more you need from a phone?

I do have one question... why not stay with Sprint? Their plans are competitively priced with T-Mobile, and they have excellent Android devices. The Epic 4G is due out soon, which should be an amazing phone by anyone's standards. And it will have a hardware keyboard, like the G1...
If price is the most important, don't go with T-Mobile. Get an unlocked T-Mobile phone and take it over to Simple Mobile at mysimplemobile.com. They use the same 3G bands as T-Mobile but you get unlimited talk, text, and internet for a flat $60/month.

He is not interested in a contract. He wants to get a used G1.
Well I Just bought one to hold me off until the "Project Emerald" phone comes out. It's better than using a non android phone. I think that using it as a temporary phone it will do the job.
Still an awsome phone but :] mTS 2 for 1 lol
If you don't care about having a fast phone, go for it. I just went from g1 to vibrant, and the vibrant is everything I wanted the g1 to be. The g1 is gonna give you a taste of what android can do, so you may end up wanting something better.

well ive gone from a blackstone (WM) to a G1 and I love it. If you get the right rom it isnt slow and android is just great I love it....also devs are still making stuff for it all the time its great....

[Q] (Q) Any friends switched to WP7 after seeing yours.

I've been using my Focus for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. WP7 obviously needs more features and settings, but MS will be cranking those out soon.
A friend of mine really liked the phone and bought the LG Quantum WP7 and she is very happy with it. When she upgraded her phone, everyone at work was telling her to get an iPhone. Talk about peer pressure! I was surprised that she said no way and wanted a WP7 phone instead after seeing mine.
I've even got some compliments from iPhone users, mainly on how quick and smooth the OS feels.
Time will tell but WP7 is definitely here to stay.

Same happened to me, even Iphone 3GS users felt very tempted to switch to WP7... I have a Focus.
I traded for my Focus (iP4). I have a friend that says they are going to WP7 when their upgrade comes around.
My boyfriend got a Focus after I got mine. He said because, "You look like you really are in love with that phone" (with an eye roll)
But I don't know how much it counts because I let him use my get-one-free from AT&T, so he didn't pay anything for it.
I was following WP7 for 4 months before it came out. I got the Focus the first day and the O/S has exceeded my expectations. Second day I had one sold to my lady friend after she saw mine. A friend of my friend saw hers and bought one the 3rd day. My wife has never had a smart phone and use to be intimated but now in 1 month will buy a Focus after using mine. I believe we are some of the best salesman and women and showing others the smooth O/S sells units. If Microsoft was smart they would give owners incentives to show the phone and compensate people in some manner. I exactly felt the sales initially would be slow but the more peeps that get them in their hands the more friends that will be exposed and that will drive a faster and sustained market share
Also, I have found that turning on Birdy Bounce and passing the phone around does wonders. My whole family went retarded over it this weekend. Dad had problems accidentally activating the capacitive Bing button, though.
We are passing them around to Android and iPhone users at work for test runs. After they use the phone for the day, we're having trouble getting them back. We've been using the Focus and the HTC Surround in that testing. The Focus is far and away the Favorite. If Verizon comes out with the HTC Trophy like they are targeting in January, we may start rolling WP7 out to users who want it on Verizon. I can't roll out the Focus until we get a few SD cards that are certified to work. 8GB isn't enough for folks who have music. 16GB in the Trophy should be enough to start. it would be great if Samsung came out with a CDMA focus with at least 16GB on the phone or a certified SD card preinstalled.
On the SD card thing, I have used Sandisk 16gb Class 2 and 4 and they both work somewhat. After two weeks or so i started having some minor issues. Nothing like the 32GB gave me but I would see perhaps one or two soft resets a day. . that is why I can't recommend the Focus yet for my users. Focus ran great with only the base 8gb in the unit. No resets at all. But I need the extra space for my music library.

So after a day at work (8-4:30) I drove my friends (carpooling) to Severance Hall in Cleveland, OH. We set out at 5pm and arrived at the Hall at 9pm due to the snow.
At the end of the concert (10pm), we drove home and arrived home at 1am in the morning - it made for a very long day and a very long drive that normally takes about 40 minutes.
The crux of the story is this, in the carpool, four of us have an iPhone 4 and I have the Focus. Everyone's iPhone died on the way to the concert (no battery). Therefore, since the journey home was taking so long, everybody in the carpool borrowed my phone to call home and talk to their families. Everyone was extremely impressed at the responsiveness of the Focus and Windows Phone 7 - they absolutely loved it. They commented on the fluidity of the OS, the ease of use (I didn't tell anyone how to use the Phone - they figured it out themselves).
They asked hundreds of questions, used the internet, etc. etc. They were thoroughly impressed with the Phone.
The one thing that everyone agreed on and kept commenting on was ease of use - and I have to agree, it's a very easy to use OS.
Well done Microsoft.
M
ps. My phone died at 1:10am, it was a day of light to medium use (I know that's highly subjective....)
Two friends were due for upgrade along with me (I was due for 4 months but waiting for WP7) and after using my Focus they instantly got one each (surrounds - it was free!).
Both were upgrading from dumbPhones.
all my friends are poor and have no phone upgrades
but they all like the samsung focus
my phone is constantly being borrowed when im somewhere
My wife switch from iphone, and is very happy so far. Her iPhone is not going back to her purse any more.
She enjoy the integration of the social network, the keyboard, the great image and colors of the Samsung Focus
My in-laws liked my focus so much, they bought a pair of of the LG's, cause they wanted keyboards. Btw, they are big mac fans.

...Second day I had one sold to my lady friend after she saw mine. A friend of my friend saw hers and bought one the 3rd day. My wife has never had a smart phone and use to be intimated but now in 1 month will buy a Focus after using mine...

Are you not afraid your wife will either read this post or ask your friend who your (boom chicka bow wow) "Lady Friend" is and you will be in big trouble?
Yes, I keep catching my wife looking over my shoulder. She's on the iPhone 4. I have to admit, the iPhone 4 is a VERY nice phone (after Jailbreaking), but I didn't want to fall into the Apple Trap . I've handed the Focus to her to use, and she's quite impressed also. It's smooth and easy to run. Screen is very impressive.
My girl is now tyring to Bogart my focus. She wants me to use her iPhone 3GS. Now I just traded my iP4 to get the Focus last week. No way is she getting my Focus. Gonna find her a deal online somewhere, so we'll have one more people on the WP7 team!
IMHO anyone who uses WP7 for atleast 10 mins will love it. I just showed it to one of my friends who was lecturing me for not buying an iP4 instead and even he loved it.
I think word of mouth is really the best way to promote WP7. So plz guys/gals show your WP7 device to as many people possible.
Whole family.
My mother bought one on my recommendation (Android to comples for her, iPhone too fragile for her). Loves the integrated voice command.
Father saw it at Thanksgiving and wondered why she got it. Later in the day he was wondering what the Knicks score was, brother stepped up to my mother's phone and said, "Knicks score" and up it came. Bowled my father away, and he bought one.
Brother and sister-in-law loved it too. They are getting one. My son, well, he is a Sprint fan and is waiting for them to carry it. As for me, couldn't wait. Got the Focus - love it.
Since then, showed a friend, and he and his wife got the LG - he loves the keyboard. She's a Mac person, but seems to be warming up to it.
