Need some help, can't get into bootloader - P3600 General

Hey everyone.
I've followed the guides on trinityguides, installed Olipro's Hard-SPL 1.2, installed new radio, and then proceeded to install a new rom with WM 6.1. Since it hung on startup, i've tried a different rom, but with similar results. Then i tried to make a hard reset to see if it helped, but still freezes.
I've wanted to restore the original rom, but now i can't get into bootloader!! I can get into the hard reset menu, but if i hold the buttons to get into the loader, nothing happens!! I've searched a bit around the foruns, and read to leave the phone without battery for a week and try again, just did that and didn't help...
I'm really out of ideas. Did i kill the device? Is there anything that can be done? All i can do now is turn it on, shows some windows loading screen and nothing happens.
*EDIT - When the screen dims down, does any button work to light it up? I've noticed that when i press the camera button it doesnt light up, but it does with every other button, including the screen... Maybe its just the camera button that got stuck/broken? Anyway to "unstuck" it/check it?

I opened up the phone, and the camera button was indeed broken. I soldered it back into the motherboard and it's working.

Locked up, please help

Hi,
I have a tmobile MDA (wizard). I attempted to install some software on it, but disconnected and rebooted before it was complete (it appeared to be just spinning).
Now after a soft reset, screen shows only 'Windows Mobile' after booting, and none of the buttons work and I can't advance from this screen.
Is there a way to hard reset that doesn't involve using the OS (ie, I can't click on anything because it's not getting to that point).
Also in this state activesync isn't detecting device.
Thanks in advance! - Chris
Hold down (and keep holding) the camera button while depressing the reset button. Hopefully it boots into a tri-color screen. If so, plug it into the USB port and, at the bottom of the screen, it should display "USB". If that happens, flash it with a *known good rom*, such as a stock T-Mobile rom. Don't try to be clever, the object is to get the phone working. Once the flash has started, *get up and walk away* for 15 or 20 minutes. Don't check in on it, leave it alone, It takes some time. When you hear it's little chime, it's done, rebooted and ready. If any of the above doesn't happen or the flash outright fails, then you may have trashed it permanently. It doesn't sound like it's beyond hope yet, however.
i have the wizard and im having the same problem after installing a ROM from this website...it just goes to the windows mobile screen with the numbers then shuts off...id really like to save my phone is there anything else i can try because that hard reset thing isnt working

Well same thing happened to me a few days back.. I had to Cold Reset [which restored it to factory defaults], but hey I got it working again..
Press Communication Button [Top Left] and Record Button [Top Right] at the same time and use the stylus to soft reset..
You will get a black screen, asking you to press "Send" to reset to "Factory defaults"
Press "Send".
Hopefully you should get your MDA working again ...
I read the "Above" in the HTC Wizard Service Manual [PDF] on the *last page* under the "Cold-reset" Section..

I'm in Deep Trouble

I need some help...I'm freaking out...
I cooked a ROM with dcd's version 1.6.9 for BELL a few days ago and it was wonderful and worked great.
Today, I tried to upgrade to version 1.6.10 and I f___ed something up.
It starts the htc boot up screen as usual, then the Bell screen comes up as usual, then a Sprint screen comes up briefly and then the Windows Mobile screen comes on and HANGS........
I have tried cold reboots, and nothing. I cant connect to it with USB.
I can kick myself for making an error because I was rushing......
Can anyone please help............................
Search the forums here, there's a way to have to phone boot into the bootloader where you can reflash the phone.
Cheers,
Tom
P.S. Have you tried hard reset?

If I recall correctly isn't it power, camera reset button????
Hard Reset:
With the Sprint Mogul I believe its holding the 2 soft buttons, the ones with dots on them, above the Red and Green phone buttons. Holding these down, push the reset button with the stylus and hold the two soft buttons for a few seconds, until something comes on the screen, which I can't recall at the moment....

update trouble: bad usb connection?

Hi all,
I appreciate any help here as i'm relatively new to this.
I have a hermes with the sprint rom update and that's it. I was recently trying to update to a different rom and I keep running into the same error. I don't know what my bootloader version is, and the ok power and reset button doesn't bring me into that mode. my camera button does, and I also don't see any of the spl information that's asked to be picked. However I just do the force, and it almost works and It brings up the screen where it actually should start loading...however here comes the problem. it keeps telling me that theres a usb connection problem.. I have several chords and tried them all and nothing seems to work. I checked other forums for this problem and found none..although I am horrible at looking. any help would be much appreciated. thanks!
Did you HOLD the three buttons (ok, power and reset button) in until the phone reset?
I'd say to try the sd card method but 1st you need to install Hard SPL to make sure you CAN FIX it if something goes wrong then upgrade your rom. If you haven't flashed any other rom before I'd bet my bottom dollar you have a "dangerous" SPL to try flashing with.
Try the three buttons again like I said then, if your SPL isn't 2.10 olipro (yeah, right), read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
It will provide you with the right tools to start flashing.
Cheers....
thanks for the help. however the ok button still isn't doing it. is this common? I can only assume the mode where the three color bars displayed on the screen is the boot loader. and I see nothing about olipro. I hold the ok power and reset button and it boots upp like a regular soft reset. but with power camer and rese, then its colored screen. I'm not sure if this makes any difference...

Hermes wont boot - 4 color bars - help please

Hello everyone. After some researching, this seemed like the best site to answer my question, as I have not found an answer yet.
Yesterday morning, I was running my ATT 8525 (which I believe you refer to as "hermes") just fine. I was using the internet sharing feature, and went to reset the phone. I "believe" I pressed the power button while pressing the "ptt- push to talk" - button. The phone turned off, and when I turned the phone back on, rather than loading like it normally did, I got a new screen.
The screen has 4 color bars. A red bar at the top, then a green bar, then a blue bar, and last, a white bar of color on the bottom. Each bar takes up 1/4 of the screen and runs horizontally. At the top, the phone says, in white text:
HERM100
1PL-1.04
HERM100
SPL-2.03
At the bottom of the screen, in the white bar of color, in black text, it says
SERIAL
Now, when I press the power button to turn the phone off, nothing happens. I have to remove the battery to shut off the power. If I plug in a USB cable, the SERIAL text changes to USB. If I press the top two buttons, the one above window and the one above ok, while pressing the stick in to reset the phone, that screen works ok. I believe it is called a "hard reset" It asks if I want to erase all data and restore factory settings, and if so, press r. I press R on the keyboard, and the screen then says reset complete, press space. I press space and then I am back to the screen with 4 color bars. Nothing else I have tried works either. I have been stuck on this screen with 4 color bars since yesterday.
I took my cell phone in to ATT to be looked at and the sales people at the store say that I am 7 days past my warranty, and that they can't/won't repair the phone, but they would be happy to sell me a brand new one... for several hundred dollars.
So, the folks on the internet are my last hope =( If anyone reading this knows anything, even if it is a link to another site or something, that may help me resolve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I at least thank you for your time reading my post.

Oh, as an additional thought, if it helps, I have not used any of these :baked: roms or any such thing. I bought my phone and used it as is. The one and only change I ever did to my phone was I followed ATT's steps on upgrading from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6, if I remember their names correctly. Hope this helps.
Bootloader. This is the name of the screen according to my research.
"Is your device able to boot Windows Mobile OS?
This one is easy: If can you see your today screen and use your phone as a PDA means you can boot OS. If you only see the splash screen, bootloader screen (tri-color) or windows mobile splash screen you can't boot OS."
Got this from the thread at
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
So, I guess I am stuck at the bootloader screen.
Try a Hard reset - hold both soft keys and reset with stylus. Hold in until it asks to reset to factory (whatever). Press "r" on the slideout keyboard and then space. You should go back throught the setup PPC steps.
YOU WILL LOOSE ALL INFORMATION ON YOUR HERMES...This is unescapable as you would any other way you tried to recover your Hermes too.
I suggest if you get it working to install Hard SPL V7 (makes recovery easier) and also pim backup so you can restore all your contacts/messages if something goes wrong again.
Cheers... & good luck.
I have tried hard resetting many times, and it does not work. It says that it succeeds and that factory settings have been restored, and then I am back to the bootloader screen. I have been to the wiki on bricked hermes phones and recovering from a brick. From that, I ascertain I have a type 2 bricked phone (goes directly to bootloader screen). I tried the MTTY tool, and it says that the NAND write was successful on both commands, but, I am still stuck at bootloader screen. I have since tried installing a few different roms, even in SSLL and HARDSPL modes, and nothing has worked.
What I have not tried is the JPIN fix, as I am not an engineer and don't have the tools or knowledge on how to do that. I also don't know how to do the microsoft operating system download fix (using an emulator?)
** UPDATE **
I think it might have been the mtty commands, but I took the battery out overnight, and when I put the battery back in to try the KITL attempt, the phone booted up and started to do the config. I was happy and thought that the phone was fixed, but when it was done with the configurating the phone, it reset back into boot loader screen -_-
You may need to check for bad blocks. This sometimes causes the problems you descibe as well as spontaneous Hard Resets and occasional soft resets.
Do a search for "how to fix bad blocks hermes" and you should get the info you need...
Hope this helps...

So i think ive bricked my iMate Jasjam but im not 100% sure spent hours reading...

Hey Guys,
Although this is my first post i have been reading and reading up about my iMate Jasjam and all of the other stuff that goes with it... Now whats happened is ive gotten this phone/pda for nothing with a sound issue that ive now fixed , it was running a rom with windows mobile 6.5. It was fine for almost 4 days but out of nowhere it wouldn't come out of idle or sleep mode where the screen is black and you just tap the power button to wake it. So i turned the phone off and on and managed to get it to boot into windows mobile but it froze, after this it wouldn;t go past teh load screen. I then removed memory card , battery and sim , still no boot afterwards... I then attempted to use the SD card to boot an original rom onto the phone but it comes up with "loading" for a few seconds and then just sits in the tricoloured screen and won;t budge.
Unfortunatly it appears the phones never had the hardspl done on it so if i can revive him ill definatly do this so it doesn't happen again... If i turn the phone on now it just hangs on the first load screen , ive still got GSM but im not very able with utilising the table to solve my problem... i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the best way to try and revive it! it's a great little phone and i was using it heaps and heaps , had and did everything i wanted and would be such a shame to see it go as i got it for nothing, repaired it etc..
Thanks in advance and my appoligies if this is a stupid noob question.
Mick
You could try a hard reset, hold both "soft keys" (above windows and ok keys) while hitting reset, then the "R" on the slide out keyboard then space.
You should also be able to flash it from boot loader. Hold the power and side ok buttons while hitting reset, and you should end up in the tri colored boot loader, flash the at&t stripped rom from there (found in my sig below).
Then you can load hardspl. Then you should be ready for some flashing. Just make sure to flash the stripped rom between the custom cooked roms, it will straighten out odd memory issues (no need to let the stripped rom configure, it seems just flashing it is enough).
Welcome to the world of playing and bricking/unbricking your device!
