Hi i have the blacksone, and this is my first WM6 handset, i'm impressed so far, however each problems i have come a across i seems to have found a solution so far .........
Here goes,
I use the free windows live mail, as i can use mutilple mail accounts, and keep an eye on each accounts with seperate mail inboxes etc etc, however how can i sync my blackstone with this microsoft mail client......or can't I. I use the mail client on the blackstone, however one can only use 5 mail accounts + outlook ( which i have not configured yet, as i now do not use outlook ) and the sms account.
Any help or push me in the correct direction, is there any syncing software i can use without useing M Activesync, i find this quite difficult at the moment, however i'm not used to it !!!
Thanks
Andrew

Is anyone here managing their contact or calendar via an online solution such as Kiko or Gmail?
I've tried many different solution and none seem really convenient. Gmail contacts won't sync with the universal unless you go through outlook as an intermediary, losing some of the data in the process (gmail groups are not recognized by outlook).
I'm just looking for something that's convenient and works. I intend to use my universal as the only 'offline' source of info + an online repository, but no desktop solution (as I'm always on the go and don't use a desktop).
TIA!
I'm going to partially update my own post:
This tool:
http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=sync&dir=wm
seem to sync plaxo contacts to a pocket pc. That's a start. Does anyone knows anything similar?
I use Airset for my online calendar, but I sync it to my desktop outlook. They do have a java thingy for mobiles though, and the tmobile MDA Vario and SDA.
I've not tried that, but I'd imagine it keeps everything in the applet, rather than hooking up with wm5 calendar. Could be worth a look though.
I think I might have found a solution to my problem.
Apparently Yahoo Mail supports intellisync, which syncs straight to the PDA from the online repository (notes, calendar and contacts apparently)
That's exciting stuff, especially with the new Yahoo mail beta that's going on (much better interface, 1gig of space).
As an extra bonus Yahoo mail also supports plaxo sync (gmail doesn't)
I'll give it a try and will let you know.
Right, didn't work either. Now I think my last option is a hosted exchange service with a web interface.
... which I did and it works wonders. Seems to be the only solution out there for the people looking forward to rid of the dated 'desktop-centric' paradigm.
So now I got gmail address -> 4smartphone , using gmail as a spam filter. When replying the emails I send appear to come from my gmail account, rather than the forwarding address (brilliant!).
So far I've only tried to sync over wire, which worked great (minus a few quirks here and there but nothing dreadful).
It's brilliant and cost only a few quids a month.
I can not get my Outlook Email to sync or operate at all. I don't know how to attach my hotmail account to this. Can anyone help? I was unable to find any solutions in this forum.
I'm very new to pc phones & data access (have had my AT&T wireless data and 8525 less than 2 wks.) and I recall having to do a little poking around to attach my hotmail account. But, what I did to get things working initially was to go to http://mobile.msn.com, enter my username/email address and password, and then hit the 'Hotmail' link whilst signed in to see my hotmail email.
Thanks Jefson, but on the device under Messaging, you can view Text, MMS, and Outlook Email accounts. This is the method I want to view my emails because it provides a little more options in sending and receiving emails rather than going to the mobile MSN account through the IE browser on the phone. Thanks though
I should add more information on my phone. I have a Tytn phone and I just recently upgraded to the Dopod version of WM 6. It's great so far, but just the Outlook Email is giving me problems. I was able to sync this with ActiveSync and my hotmail account on WM 5..???
outlook - contacts sync
I have the same problem. Using active sync I can sync everything apart form my contacts - (Im guessing this is because contacts are sync'd through outlook which is also not working). I took my HERMES to the orange shop where I baught it and they said to download a newer version of active sync. Although I cannot find active-sync for download anywhere.
Do you sync to a company server or is it only to your local PC?
hot mail
if you install msn it will ask you if you want to associate your mail account also
click yes
hey presto
off you go
rwcozens - I sync to a local PC, my own laptop
blowfeld - Is MSN avaliable to download to non USA users? Where do I get it from?
thanks
scot
Here you go.
msn
its actualy the windows live that comes with the schaps 54b rom
initialising that will set up the contacts and email for hotmail
it works in uk
mobile messenger / mobile msn live ??
I have not found a place to download windows live or messenger that will allow me to transfer my contacts from my HERMES to messenger/hotmail. Can someone post a link to the appropriate download?
thanks
Scot
Great stuff!!! Just what i was looking for and nicely set out too love the the today page !!!!!
Hi. Im new to WinMo completely, and there is one thing i dont get. I cant sync e-mails as it says it does. For example, in my phone there is this Outclook E-Mail account which has nothing and cant be configured ot nothing. Why is it there!? i can configure other account individually like, from Gmail. But then what is this email sync that doesnt sync my emails, its nonsense! (Im pretty sure im the nonsense one here, but thats what i want you to plaz explain to me)
Ive read guides and searched on internet but nothing. I really thought that Outclook email would be reserved for the config account on my PC Outclook, but nothig happens!
Need heeelp!! Im really stressing out. Forgive my ignorance hehe
outlook mail == the mails the pda sync with outlook on your pc
activesync settings deside how old mails it sync to save space
it can't be removed
it can only be filled with mails from your outlook mail
You can use this for syncing mails with a Microsoft Exchange Server too. I use it for getting my emails directly ("Microsoft Direct Push") everywhere. If your Company (or your Administrator) doesn't provide this for you, there are some hosting provider which are providing these accounts for everyone.
In addition it syncs contacts and calendars too. With these abilities and the special features like Remote Desktop Client, Putty and VPN the Xperia ist my real mobile office .
But one thing is weird: too many people have my tel-number, so often the X1 gives strange sounds out and i have to break my relaxation...ähhmmm ...work
Hi
I was just wondering if it possible to sync my contacts from my home PC using Outlook and my calandar and mail from my works Outlook exchange server on the HD2.
I am a current iPhone user and am interested in moving over to the HD2 as it looks like an awsome phone. I can do the above on the iPhone but can't find any information as to wheather this is possible on the HD2. Searched the forums but can't find an answer!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.
You can select to only link (via Exchange) your calendar and mail, I've done this. Then you just need to configure Activesync or Mobile Device Center to sync your contacts with Outlook.
Yes you can, a friend of mine has it set up that way. As Nighthawk said, it's just a case of configuring the sync right (you just have to tick boxes, so nothing challenging there!)
Dont know whether it helps, but I use an excellant app called Chronobis which allows me to pull (one way) my calendar from my work exchange server. It will also handle email & contacts.
I'm using this as I dont want to mix my home outlook contacts & calendar which I sync with Active Sync with my work stuff.
So I sync normally with Activesync and then download my work calendar which merges with my HD2 calendar... when I do an activesync... both work and home calendars are then together in Outlook.
I think in your situation you will be fine as you are not trying to "merge" contacts and calendars from 2 places at the same time.
Brilliant, thanks for your replies guys.
Yes this can be done, i do this with two exchange servers, one from my work and the other my gmail account.
Basically i sync my calendar and contacts with both and only sync my email from work.
I did this on my polaris and now on my hd2. Initially i wasn't too sure if the the hd2 would do this natively so i went with the regitry hack i used on my polaris. Perhaps someone could confirm that this can be done on the hd2 without the registry hack.
Here is the link to what i did with my polaris (and now my hd2).

Unified email
Hey everyone! my friend and i have hd2's but he has 6 email accounts and he was asking me is there a way to make all his emails come into one inbox like on blackberries...i suppose its called "unified email"
ive been using windows mobile for a year now and i cant seem to find a way to "unify" the emails..is there a way for this to be done?
thank you
btw he has the stock tmobile rom,
which would be windows phone 6.5

I don't know of a specific way to do this on WinMo; however, a work around would be to setup a GMail account (or Hotmail, Yahoo, whichever) and configure that to download email from the six accounts.
Once you have done this, you would only need to setup the Gmail (or other) account on your phone and everything should all come down in one place.
Not really a cure, but a solution nonetheless.
Re: Unified Email
I've used Flexmail for this purpose. It can integrate yahoo, gmail, hotmail, and other types of POP mail accounts and send them to you via imap push. With Flexmail, you can set rules for incoming emails so that they automatically sort into folders on your phone. I like it a lot.

Flexmail was excellent when I used it on a Treo Pro. I've installed it on my HD2 and found it was not at all useable without a D-pad. I just couldn't get it to work right.

Gmail does everything you listed as well via pop, imap push, and exchange for free. If you use the exchange setup you can sync your calendar and contacts as well, works great.
Great recommendation by Franwella.
Hi,
I use Gmail for this too, works well.
using Gmail is the right solution. I'm using it and it's a lot confortable.
