I recently bought the AV cables for my tab and i absolutely love it. Only issue so far is the fact that i have to keep the screen on while the video is playing on both the TV and tab. If i turn off the screen then its replicated on my TV. I know with some video players you can adjust the brightness right from the app. But some apps, like the youtube player, dont have this option. Is there an app out there that can dim the screen so the screen almost looks off? Even if video is playing? That would be great. Please let me know if such an app exists. Ill keep searching.
Edit
This was kind of a dumb question because there are plenty of dimmer apps on the market. Basically i want the screen to be black and yet output a signal to my TV. Is this possible?

I have bought an excellant stand for my Note so that I can watch movies but the maximum screen timeout in settings is 10 minutes which is not long enough. So I've downloaded a free application from Android Market called "Screen Off Timeout" by "MTU Group" which allows you to keep the screen on permanently or only permanently when plugged into a power supply.
Here is the stand link:

uhh, not too sure what youre talking about. galaxy note screen timeout doesnt affect movies or videos.
i have my timeout set to 1 minute. 4 minute videos play in their entirety without the screen turning off. 2 hour movies play in their entirety without the screen turning off.
its not just the default player. most video players have the 'permission' to keep the screen on when running. you dont need a third party app.

Thanks for your reply. My timeout occurred whilst viewing a Web page which the app. fixes. I assumed the app was needed for movies too which it obviously doesn't and I stand corrected.
KeepScreen in Market is what you need. You can select the apps you want to keep the screen on.

Thanks for your reply. I will check out KeepScreen.
I was searching for this function, I had it on my N900, so I could keep track on i.e. a website while the phone is charging on my desk. On the Note this option is not available in the screen settings.
Be careful when displaying static images/text on the screen for prolonged periods of time. AMOLED screens can burn out. Each color in each pixel as a life span and will get dimmer the longer it is used. During normal use this would will have little effect. However if you leave the screen on for long periods of time without changing what is displayed you will compound the problem. In certain cases "burn-ins" have been noticed in as little has a few months. Others have gone years using their devices without any noticeable issues. Its all about how you use it.
Using the phone for long periods as a desktop clock or having it display a webpage with minimal changes in display, are bad ideas.
Hi,
somehow I cannot switch the camera between movie and still picture mode any more. Tapping the little icon in the top right above the zoom controls which is supposed to do so, only causes the screen to dim for half a second. But the camera stays in movie mode. I tried resetting the camera settings to default. That didn't work out.
Thx in advance for your suggestions
Hi, I was watching 'straight outta compton' on my mobile and I noticed that whenever there is a dark scene (mostly black background), the background goes fuzzy. I also noticed it on many other videos on youtube/BBC iPlayer whilst playing 1080P. I also played straight outta compton on my other mobile and I didn't have this issue. When the background goes fuzzy in the videos it is very hard to watch and is annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?
Is there any way to screen record and use my Sfilter app at the same time? Screen recording wont allow me to start until Sfilter or any other blue light filter related apps are turned off. But I have a V20... Which of course means I have terrible screen retention with filter turned off which also causes phone to get hot and slow...
Any ideas for me?
