launches Speed dail. You do not need this in the start-up folder, as it is started as soon as you enter into the phone mode.

Are you talking Windows or Windows Mobile? If standard plain windows then Notepad should work just fine. It's included in all windows versions.

I'm talking about windows, and is there a command line usage for notepad?
What exactly are you trying to do? You can start notepad.exe from the command line, but that's about it I think. If you want to automate search/replace, save, insert etc you'll have to find another tool.

to be specific: I am trying to create a batch file that I plan on using daily that replaces a line in a .txt file with a particular line I want, and I'd rather not use notepad because I have this batch file set on startup
OK, now I understand what you want.....
Have a look at SFK (Swiss File Knife ) see here
or FR (File Replace) see here
Both are freeware, neither are "native" to Windows, but either should - with a bit of trial and error - get you to where you wanna be
HTH,
Mark.

I don't think thats possible... but why don't you use mortscript, maybe that works (they have a pc version), otherwise M$ has a new version out of an application that should replace the bat language...just can't recall the name...
-=Google Time=-
PowerShell
If that also fails I could write you a small exe which should be able to do what you want it.....

Here you are!!!
you need to open pocketrar from the programs folder and resign .rar files to pocketrar. then it should pick them up when in file explorer.
Try Resco File Explorer version 7.05 from www.resco.net. Could open ZIP & RAR format. The best file explorer yet!

You could try 7-zip for WM. It's alpha, but it's incredibly functional and works fine for the most part. Just make sure that you associate it with RAR files in the settings panel. And FYI, I've gotten PocketRAR to work by simply using a hardware OK button during the part where the OK button is inaccessible and the menus don't work. After that, it's fully functional again.

In that case the only options left are resco explorers built in zip software or pocket rar if it will handle 7zip.
The world of file compression would be simpler without 7zip !
The 7zip app is crap. It barely functions. I think that resco file explorer will handle 7zips.
You might want to have that verified before you shell out for it though.
