MMS Messaging - Wing, P4350 General

Does it cost it money to use MMS Messaging? When I send a picture to my friends, it connects to GPRS and that E logo shows on top my reception bar.

I'm pretty sure if you have a sms package mms is included.

just went to a tmo store and they stated that there is NO charge even though it connects to GPRS when I send pic messages. The pic message just counts as a text message in my account.

i think with the tmobile proxy hack you can get around the sms charge as well and theoretically have unlimited mms for 5.99 a month

Picture Messaging w/ a wizard? Why won't it work?

I have an MDA that will not send picture messages. Text messages work fine, but I've tried all the ways to send picture messages and I can't get picture messages to work!
Specs: T-Mobile MDA. I did the soft-reset trick to keep the customizations from loading. I then ran the cab file I found here to restore the MMS settings.
Server Name:T-Mobile MMSC

Connect Via: My Work Network <---- I don't have a data plan, but I do have a text messaging package from Tmo that apparently includes picture messaging. Is this my issue??

I have the K-Jam with a Tmo plan and I have wondered about the same thing.
You can only send MMS messages through the wap APN. Thus, you must create a dialing connection to wap.voicestream.com and then specify the MMS connection to connect via that APN.

Go to Settings, Connections tab.
Select Connections
Under 'My ISP' select 'Add new connection'
For name, select T-Mobile WAP
For modem, select Cellular Line (GPRS)
Click Next
For Access point name, enter 'wap.voicestream.com'
Click next
Leave all fields (user name, etc) blank
Click Finish
Go to Messaging applet
Click MMS Configuration on Menu
Select Servers tab
If you have not already entered the T-Mobile server, do it now. (covered in other thread)
Under Connect via: drop down, select 'My ISP'
Click OK
Send an MMS message.
Also, if you have a T-Mobile family plan as I do, right now you can get unlimited messaging (text messaging, mms, etc) for 9.99/month. Our family shares a plan with 4 phones (two teenage daughters). That comes to 2.50 per phone for unlimited messaging. The best deal I know right now!
JonnoB,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, picture messaging still doesn't work. Since MMS requires transmittal over a GPRS connection, wouldn't that imply that you must have a data plan to use it?
I did exactly as outlined in your post and my phone even says "T-Mobile WAP (GPRS) Connected". However, I have no IE or picture messaging functionality. Thanks again for your input.

Yes, I think it does require some sort of plan. At least T-Zones because while the message is received via SMS, the rest of the data is downloaded from the WAP server afterward. If MMS is important to you, you should consider the $20 unlimited plan for data... or if you find yourself in hot spots, the $30 plan which includes unlimited wifi as well.
Oddly enough, T-Mobile customer care claims that a data plan is not required for MMS. Their solution was to hard reset the device. I'm not sure I want to hard reset with all the T-Mobile bloatware.

Data plan required to receive mms messages?

i recently cancelled my T-zones plan and ever since than i can no longer download the MMS messages i get... all i get is the message notification.. than it says the download failed...
Is a data plan required to receive mms messages? or is there another setting off that is not allowed me to receive my mms messages?
thanks.
A data connection is used to download pix and the like. I'd assume some minimal data connection would be included with an MMS package but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work that way. Ask tmo. We'll guess, they'll know.

Can't send MMS messages... help!

I got a T-Mobile MDA with a Cingular ROM running on Cingular with the correct MMS settings. Every time I try and send an MMS, it will attempt to send it then go "Unable to send the message, message will remain in your outbox"
I have the MediaNet unlimited plan so all should be good to go... anyone?

MMS Question

When I send/receive an MMS message my GPRS connection stays active, is this normal?
I'm concerned because my phone often sits unattended at work and a friend sent me an MMS message at 10am but due to meetings etc. I didn't notice it until about 11am and the GPRS connection was still active which I'm concerned was costing me money???
Can I set it up to automatically disable the GPRS after the message has been sent/received.
Thanks
Stoogman.
Ok do you have GB-Soft Tweak? You can turn GPRS always on!!
Heey all.
I can't seem to install the Arcsoft_MMS_Composer_3.5.1.5.cab on my WM6 installation. The former version, 3.0 worked fine on WM6 but i was unable to receive mms contents and send them. So that's why I decided to install this one.
Anyone?
I have two MDA phones and have never been able to get either to send an MMS message. I am using them on carrier Suncom.
I have achieved some success. I can now send MMS!
The secret was apparently entering the url for the gateway with no leading zeros.
Here is what I have entered 66.150.33.115
This now sends the MMS and I have a confirmation that it was received.
I can still not receive an MMS. I get the notification, but can not download the actual message.

Suncom MMS
Where do these settings go? I can't seem to find MMS at all. I'm using an unlocked T-Mobile Wizard on Suncom.
On the Start menu click Messaging. This opens Outlook. Click the Inbox menu on upper left, this opens a Show list of all messaging accounts you have set up. Mine has one Inbox labeled MMS. If you do not, click Menu in the status bar at bottom of screen, then Tools, then New Account. There is where you put in your MMS information.

T Mobile MMS question
