When I send/receive an MMS message my GPRS connection stays active, is this normal?
I'm concerned because my phone often sits unattended at work and a friend sent me an MMS message at 10am but due to meetings etc. I didn't notice it until about 11am and the GPRS connection was still active which I'm concerned was costing me money???
Can I set it up to automatically disable the GPRS after the message has been sent/received.
Thanks
Stoogman.
Ok do you have GB-Soft Tweak? You can turn GPRS always on!!
Heey all.
I can't seem to install the Arcsoft_MMS_Composer_3.5.1.5.cab on my WM6 installation. The former version, 3.0 worked fine on WM6 but i was unable to receive mms contents and send them. So that's why I decided to install this one.
Anyone?
I have two MDA phones and have never been able to get either to send an MMS message. I am using them on carrier Suncom.
I have achieved some success. I can now send MMS!
The secret was apparently entering the url for the gateway with no leading zeros.
Here is what I have entered 66.150.33.115
This now sends the MMS and I have a confirmation that it was received.
I can still not receive an MMS. I get the notification, but can not download the actual message.

Suncom MMS
Where do these settings go? I can't seem to find MMS at all. I'm using an unlocked T-Mobile Wizard on Suncom.
On the Start menu click Messaging. This opens Outlook. Click the Inbox menu on upper left, this opens a Show list of all messaging accounts you have set up. Mine has one Inbox labeled MMS. If you do not, click Menu in the status bar at bottom of screen, then Tools, then New Account. There is where you put in your MMS information.

I can send MMS
I can recieve and download MMS from myself
I can receive MMS from someone else - I can see sender name, MMS size etc. But when I tap - download I can see receiving notification icon at the top. Then it is disappeared and MMS still not downloaded. I tried many times but there is no success.
Smb can help?
I have a problem with any MMS! I can't seem to send or receive! Settings are as indicated by everyone but though it connects to WAP (UK O2 network) ok and WAP-able, MMS is no-go. Think you could write a few notes on what your settings are? I have a feeling it's the configuration of the MMS server, tia.

i cant receive pics or send them to any one, im on o2 contract, any help? before i ring o2.?
Have you been able to send and receive pics before? Or have you had this prob since owning the device?
If the latter, I believe you have to first send a MMS (on o2) before your number is configured to receive them. You need the following settings:
servername: O2UK
gateway: 193.113.200.195
port number: 9201
server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
find it in: messaging > MMS > Menu > MMS Configuration > "Servers" tab.
You should see "O2UK" listed, if not click new and create an "O2UK" account using settings above. If you do have O2UK listed then tap on it and check the details as above.
hi im using a new sim card with my exec so could it need activating?
i can get on the net ok, when some one sends me a pic it comes as a normal text and says log on to o2 to view your pic.
I think o2 are a bit like vodafone on this one. Until you've sent an MMS, they don't know you're phone is capable of MMS, hence you get links to your pics on their website.
Obviously you say you are having problems sending, so check your settings for MMS as posted above (you can also try port number "8080"). If they are correct, it might be worth giving o2 a ring, but in the meantime, if you have another MMS mobile, pop the sim in there and try to send an MMS. Once you've successfully sent one, the ones you receive should come through as intended.

Have you installed the corporate install rather than the personal/basic option?
I had the corporate settings and couldn't send or receive mms. When I rang O2 we went through all the possible settings before trying a hard reset and a personal install. After that mms worked fine. Unfortunately the engineer couldn't tell me which extra software was installed, which enabled mms.
Ah yes, forgot about that option. If you don't have any MMS folders under messaging it's likely you've set a corporate install (or has been preset for you).
If you have no MMS folders then you need to install another part of the rom.
First get Total Commander (good file explorer lets you access device rom files) from here:
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
you need the "tcmdpocketarm" download. Download, connect your xda to the pc then run & install.
Run Total Commander on your xda. In the top line of the progam where you see a "\", delete it all and type "\extended_rom\"
A list of rom files will appear.
Select one like "CAB_Shortcut_O2..." and select open, or run.
This will install the MMS folders and the nicer O2 phone dialler screen (and a couple of other bits, but still not *all* the o2 cr*p). Follow all prompts, then soft reset.
Under messaging you should now find an MMS folder along with "Text Messages" and "Outlook Email".
This helped me get back the MMS folders and settings, after which all was ok.
ok after talking to o2 3 times i get some one else on the phone and he said the mms had been removed from my sim card so he has set it up again, if some one now sends me a mms msg it comes in to my mms inbox and says downloading but after a bit it says my msg could not be received, same if i try to send a pic it says sending but after 3 times it says your msg could not be sent and puts it in my outbox.
the settings in the mms configuration/servers are the same as wot has been posted on ere.
wot box's should i tick in the preferances ?
I am having the same problem. I am in corporate mode setting but do have MMS in my Outlook section. The configuration is as stated above but it fails to download after 3 attempts.
Anyone have any other ideas?
enigma_uk even though the guy who asked the question, his query had nothing to do with your reply, MAN I THANK YOU THOUGH!!! i needed that info!!! lol
cheeers mate!
I just got off the phone with Cingular and they show my MMS service as enabled just as it should be. However, I got a MMS message today and all I get is who its from but it wont download the picture. I get this notification:
"In order to send/download MMS, the current active connection must be closed (this may affect other applications in use). Do you want to continue?"
I select YES and nothing happens.
Can anybody help me out? Thanks
What are your mms settings??
(Start->Programs->Messaging
Navigate to MMS Folder->Click Menu->MMS Configuration
Choose the tab that says "Servers" and then click on your settings, mine says Cingular MMS)
Same here. I also went through Cingulars setup guide and everything matches...
Hi there,
I have set up my POP3 email account on my HD (though have set to leave messages on server) and it works fine on Wifi (checks, downloads, sends, etc). However when I'm not on Wifi and I'm on TMobile data (HSDPA, 3G, GPRS, etc), I get an error when I try send and receive. It comes up with "error synchronising" and a popup appears at the top saying...
"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap settings." If I go into settings, I get the list of connections, but can't see anything in there that needs changing. I'm on T-Mobile in the UK, and it lists "T-Mobile Internet" and "My Work Network". If I go into the T-Mobile Internet settings everything seems fine in there. And it all works when I go into the web browser, or Youtube app, etc.
Its almost as if the mail app doesn't have access to the data connection unless its over Wifi. Is there something I'm missing, or an area where you can tell it when to use the data connection? I've even tried manually enabling the data connection through the comm manager (rather than it starting when an app needs it), then switching to mail and clicking send/receive - still the same error.
Thanks,
Dave
Can anyone help me? I'm not sure whether its connected but I also have a problem where another programme (Lotus Notes Traveller client) doesn't seem to be able to get access to the internet connection on the phone, regardless of whether its Wifi, 3G or anything else.
Thanks.
this may sound odd but bare with me! i can get on the net and emails but my hd would not check emails when in standby no matter what i did. I then realised i couldnt send or receive mms messages! all the settings seemed ok. Anyway in my mms connection i changed the wap setting to 1.2 from 2 and my mms worked! But since then my phone now checks email in standby! I didnt realise they were connected but may be worth checking.
Gav
How do you change that wap setting. I have the same problem, but on T-Mobile USA
Hi,
I found I could sync emails using Wi-Fi ok but got the dreaded "failed to sync" message when using the GPRS method. I am also on T-Mobile.
The problem is T-mobile only let's you send emails using there smtp.
You need to go into the email options menu and keep clicking through the settings until you get to the send using smtp box, here you need to type smtp.t-email.co.uk
This will send mail using the T-mobile network.
Please post back if this helps

Thank you - works perfectly for me! Good call!
Hiya
Ok so ive had my x1 a couple of weeks now and love it to bits, however im really struggling with mms and wondered if anyone else has the same problem or if theres a tweak for it
Im on three network in the UK, and have got all the right settings on it .. I can send sms, and can connect to the internet via my network, but when I try to send an mms it will let me compose it but wont send. It just sits in my outbox looking pretty but refuses to go!
Any help would be greatly appreciated .. thanks
Mella
Go into you sms\mms folder (where your sms's are)
Go Menu. MMS Options
Goto the Servers tab and check that it is using the correct mms server
You have to create a new connection for mms, and set it to default for mms so it changes connection when sending mms messeges
Hiya
Yeh I have the three mms settings and they are set as default, but it still wont go .. any more ideas guys?
Check the following, but change telstra to three:
Go to Start, Settings, Connections, then Connections again.
Go to the Advanced tab
Choose Select Network
Change the second drop down box to Telstra MMS
Make sure you soft reset after making these changes
If you are still stuck give the x1 support hotline a call. They have fixed a few problems for me.
Most operators have a service that sends you the mms settings through a text message. The phone can then automatically pick that up and config it.
Some operators don't support the X1 yet though.
Hi buzz, thanks for getting back to me again!
It doesnt give me that option in that box unfortunately .. I debranded my phone using the uk rom
I dont get how it will let me browse the internet using three internet settings yet not send an mms through them, and ive checked my mms settings so many times. Aggghhhrrr its driving me crazy!
Ooooh wheres the help line number? I think thats going to be my next option ..

Yes unfortunately three dont support this phone so will not send me the settings, but ive found the settings online aswell as checking through my previous phone so im 99% sure im doing it right
Ok, you need to make a new connection in that menu for the second drop down box.
The first drop down box should say Three Internet (or similar).
Click the "new" button below the second drop down box and use these settings:
3 MMS settings
Access Point Name: mms.three.co.uk
Username: blank
Password: blank
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 217.171.129.2
MMS Message (Relay) Server URL: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
Then go into your SMS/MMS inbox and check that 3 MMS is your default mms server.
Last of all... soft reset and you should be right.
Woohoo it worked it sent it!
My last phone wasnt half as technical as this so its taking me a while to learn the ins and outs, but im determined to perservere as I love it so much.
Buzz your an angel .. Thank you so much for your help
Mella
No worries.
Make sure you keep these settings somewhere (especially if you are flashing new roms).
It took me a while to get my mms settings working (no thanks to telstra), but I'm always happy to help.
