Hi guys, i need a bit of help for all of you, i recently bought a Belkin F8T012UK dongle hoping to do sync and internet over the Bluetooth, first thing i notice is the driver is not Vista Ready, so i went to their site and download the latest driver, it gave me a hell of the time to install, and i wasn't 100% it install ok.
Anyway, the main thing is the sync doesn't seems to work, my Athena can pick up my computer, but if you click and check what servers it provide, it provide none. so, no sync, no file transfer, nothing.
Any idea guys?
solved!
nvm got it working finally..........
remove connection icon from tray
btw guys, after i sync my DOPOD U1000 with my computer via bluetooth, there is a connection icon appear in the system tray, how do i remove it? I have search the entire forum and couldn't really find the solution.
p.s. I have already remove battery and rotation icon.
Just a thought Wu...try turning on flight mode to break all wireless connections and then switch phone/radio back on.
Did that do it?

Go to Start>Settings>connections>USB to PC and tick on enable advanced network connection.
For my work pc, I cannot sync with this feature on, so if you have problem syncing, go back and untick.

what is that suppose to do? to hide the icon or enable me to sync via bluetooth? At the moment, i can sync no problem, it just everytime when it's connected, a connection icon appear on the system tray, which takes up one row of space on my screen, all i am trying to do is disable this icon, so the system tray won't appear to take up my space. Any idea?

Hi i have just recently hard reset my HD and something weird happened everytime i try to go onto the internet. Before when i set up my device it will automatically set up the internet setting for me and i can go online without a problem. and now after i hard reset it will connect to the internet but it will bring the connection setup page up saying new connection setup database found do you want to install it? If i press yes it will start downloading but it wont complete. if i press no then it will just bring me back to the browser which i can still connect to the internet. is there any way to stop this popup from happening? Thanks
so no one knows why?

Hi marktang - this looks like to me the connection database update from several weeks back. That makes sense if you do a hard reset - once you connect to the internet there is a HTC application or operator application in the background that does this connection database check.
It should be harmless to say download. I did it early in the morning and got a full download OK.
If you search here in the forums you will find a long thread about this subject. At first when everyone got the new database notification it was hard to get a full download.
thanks i got it.
usually when i connect my phone to PC a dialogue will be popped up on the phone's screen and ask me if i want to choose 1 of 3 modes of connection, but now sicne a day or 2 that option doesnt come anymore, i already tryed resetting the phone but that doesnt work.
anyway that i can do that via an program ?? cause i dont care that it doesnt popup but i would love to have that option.
Sorry if this has bee nasked before, i used the search.

hmm strange, on my pc i get the dialog, but on my laptop nothing happens
Thanks for the quick reply
Check:
Start - Settings - Connections - USB to PC and then click the "Ask me ..." option at the bottom of the screen.
lock
don´t know if it´s your case, but if you use the lock option of WM, when the phone is locked with the "password" screen and connected to PC it will use last choice automatically (either ActiveSync o Disk drive) withou any popup...
Hey guys,
i've got a very big problem.
I dont know why but every time i connect my Blackstone to the Computer it always open the "Internet Sharing" thing. Ive changed it over "Settings" back to Sync (and in settings/connections/USB to PC, check "Ask me first about USB connection type when I connect the device to the PC" also), but no change.
Then i canged in the registry the following key "HKLM\Software\HTC\USBToPCPopUP\" DWORD: OnlyTwoChoice=1
now the HTC Popup with the option "Sync" and "HDD" show up, but when i choose Sync it doesent connect and sync.
I want my three Options back and want the option that i can choose out of "Sync" "HDD" and "Internet Sharing"
Thank you
greetz
I started getting this problem when I used the Internet Sharing option for the first time. From then on it would automatically try IS instead of Activesysnc, no matter what I did.
I solved it by unticking the Enable faster data syncronization box in USB to PC tab, but this results in a clunky pile of tabs that come up when connecting to the PC.
Unticking the "Enable faster data syncronization" box in USB to PC tab, doesent solve the problem
Hello
I got the same problem where I did not get the "3 choices" screen while connecting to usb, and IS by default...
I just deleted all keys in the registry under //HKLM\Software\HTC\USBToPCPopUP\
and it went back to normal....
Hope it will the same for you..
I have the same problem since a while, but haven't found a solution yet... starting to get a little desperate...

I guess you mean the registry on the device itself?
I been looking for that, but it looks i don't have this //HKLM\Software\HTC\USBToPCPopUP\...
in fact, i'm facing the exact same problem as described in this htcforum.com post:
"http://www.htcforums.com/post5958.html#p5958" (yes, i posted there too )
i'm pretty sure the problem is NOT pc-related, the data-connection fails at every possible system i tested it with (ranging from xp to vista to ubuntu to osX), at least the usb-diskmode worked before on all these systems before... not anymore...
the answer of HTC support wasn't of much help either:

You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with your device. To clarify your issue, you stated that you were unable to connect your device to the PC. . i suspect them of not even reading about my problem, and just firing some default answer back... not really helpfull.
so i keep looking around for possible solutions for now.
I'm seriously thinking to make use of the warranty, but hate to lose the device for a long periode... anybody has experience with that?
another PCtoUSB problem, i get all 3 options, HDD and Internet Work perfectly, ActiveSync however doesn't. Vista recognizes it as a USB Pocket PC, but Vista Sync Center and WMDC do not, nothing. On HTC i get the charging icon, but not the Sync icon. Also in the ActiveSync --> Connections menu i have "Sync all PCs using this connection:" ticked, however the drop down menu is empty, nothing to select.
in the ActiveSync start screen there's just the fake Microsoft Exchange account, nothing else
Everything was working fine till few days ago :/

I tried this but still get ICS opening when I connect my device up. It is driving me mad now trying to sort this - I may even resort to a hard reset before the end of the weekend.
The only way I can get sync to work is to disable the faster data sync option.
hmm, every system i test with gives the same result:
the htc device does charge, but the usb data-connection never works...
could it be a faulty connector?

I have the same problem and the above method solves the problem
Hope it helps.
Sorry about the bad title!
when I got the td2 and plugged in the usb cable
it used to offer me the option on a screen to either
connect to active sync
use as a hard drive ( or something like that)
internet sharing.
with a little rember this action type button.
I obviously pressed that button as now it defaults to internet sharing
I would really like to get the options screen back
any one got any ideas
Thanks in advance
Andy
Settings > Connections > USB To PC and mark that thing on the bottom.
Thanks for the quick reply,
should have said that I have already done that and it doesnt make any difference still goes straight to internet sharing (which stays open)
only a silly thing but its winding me up!!
I had this issue too....
Looks like you disconnect the TD2 while you were sharing the internet....
What i did, connect, tu USB, connect the sharing (the TD2 always shows it...) click the disconnect softkey of the sharing, disconnect the USB and then reconnect it.
And voilà, the screen is back
BRILLIANT !!!!
THANKS so much
all is well now in my world apart from my tomtom issues
hey ho
