I just bought a headset adapter on amazon to go from mini-usb to 3.5mm...works fine for listening to music etc. The problem is that the phone detects it as a headset w/ microphone so I have unplug them to talk. Is there a app to select mic source (or a registry key that I can change)?

I bet there is a registry tweak to do it like the tv-out bypass. I don't know it, and I have an adapter that does the same exact thing. I'm going to go with keep searching and you might find a tweak for it.
I gave up on mine, I just use my Jabra BT620s because it never has a cord to tug or rip out and it let's me answer my calls. They were only 20 bucks at newegg when I got them.
Before I forget, if you use the headset/multifunction adapter from HTC, the mic still works, I don't use it because it's too bulky. They are pretty cheap on ebay.

Hey everyone, I have been looking around to find an adapter that will allow you to charge the device, and has a plug(s) that allows for an external mic and ear phones. I have seen the ones that allow for just the 3.5 for music but don't have another plug for a mic input... Or they have a built in mic which will not work for me. The reason for this is so I can put it in my motorcycle helmet. I need to be able to attach a wind resistant mic. Also want to use my ear buds so I can actually hear people and music. Any ideas? I don't think there is currently anything that will do what you want out of the box. You are probably going to have to get a soldering iron out and come up with a homebrew solution. You could wire up your wind resistant mic to replace the built in mic in either the standard headset or an adaptor. You are still going to need something like 11pin to 5&6pin or 3in1 adaptor to allow charging and audio/mic.
You can use the y-cable and stereo headphones w/ built in mic from the AT&T 8525 to do what you're asking.

I have a question that I've been trying to figure out for a little while now. I've been looking for a bluetooth receiver that has a 3.5mm stereo out to connect to an auxiliary port for a car. The closest thing I have seen is a nifty little piece of equipment put out by sony, model number MBR-100. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this with our phones (AT&T tilt), if it worked straight up, or if there was some tweaking that had to be done in order to make it work. I've been lurking around the forums and found a little info, but very mixed responses, so I figured I would ask.

Jabra BT3030, i know someone who actually uses this and they love it, plus its got the music controls and phone controls as well. its also got a mic built in so you can use it as a headset.
hm..........I just went ahead and got the mbr-100, however, god forbid that one doesn't work out, I'll give this one a shot. I somehow missed another guy's thread on here that had about 5 or 6 of em listed. Thanks though!!!

I use an Itech Bluetooth that has a 3.5mm jack, and bought a shortened (4inch) 3.5mm male to male jack. Plug it in the car when driving, now i have music and speaker phone using car speakers and just unplug and take it with me when i leave the car effortlessly.

I recently had purchased an adapter for my Fuze in order to use a headset for listening to music as well as asnwering/making calls. The headset is an over-the-ear headset (not bluetooth earpiece) and it has a mic on it. But unfortunately, when I used it with the adapter, the mic does not work.
It works with the adapter that came with the Fuze, but that one is a bit too bulky. Anyone know of one that works with the mic on a headset?

Is that the only one? I rather have one that is just an adapter and nothing extra. That one looks pretty nice since it has volume control on it, if I can find another like it. I have a microphone on the headset, so a regular adapter would be fine a well.

I like to buy a headset for listening music in the gym.
I like to buy one, which is 100% working on ALL the newer roms. It do not have to had a remote, it just have to work fine.
It could be a whole headset or just the adapter to plugin usual headphones.
I would prefer the second choice.
Can you please send me a Link of a product,so that I can order it on ebay?
What do you think of bluetooth headsets. Are they better for just listening music? It have to be stero...

I am using a Motorola S9 stereo bluetooth headset for listening to music. I have even used this under my helmet on motorcycle rides. You can control music, next/previous/pause, volume up/down/mute with the headset controls. When you get a call, the music automatically pauses and one speaker acts as a microphone (?), when the call is done, the music starts again.
There are a lot of them on eBay, search for 'Motorola S9', they go from $15-$40 USD.
I also have a 3-in-1 adapter like this one : eBay Item # 270447310297
It plugs into the htc jack and lets you connect an htc headset, usb connection, and a 3.5mm stero plug for connecting regular headsets. I use this on place with a set of noise-canceling headphones, works great, but a little more to carry. I have also seen more streamlined adapters on eBay for connecting a headset with 3.5mm plug to the htc phones, like this one: eBay item #260438648187 and #280399218984

I definitly need an adapter for normal 3.5mm jack headsets that works, I once bought on ebay one for a motorola razr phone, but audio was too low, can you confirm those adapters do give high enough audio levels from the kaiser?

I just purchased this adapter (Item# 400080682350) on the bay and almost have to turn the volume down as low as it can go, works great.
I've used the 2nd & 3rd adapters that JJHiemenz listed from off of Ebay. The 2nd one got a short after a while, and the 3rd one works Great because up to now I still use it on my TILT. Better investment if U ask me.

I bought two of these objects and then discovered it was a set of three, so I have SIX adapters now very cheap and very well working, so, being them so small, I took one at office, one in the bag, one at the desk and so on

Jabra BT620s is highly recommended, and pretty affordable. Pairs quickly and easily and works reliably with A2DP on my Kaiser. Just don't try to do heavy WiFi surfing and Bluetooth listening at the same time, it can't handle it
I've got the Motorola S9 and its been working great for almost a year now with many different ROMs. Got mine off ebay, but look out for the chinese ripoffs, the work for a little bit then crap out (learned the hard way).

Has anyone experienced the following bug: Make or receive a call using a bluetooth headset. A2DP or not, this doesn't matter. Then, use the voice command feature or try to record with Tape Machine, while your headset or car kit is still conencted. The microphone won't activate. This is quite aggravating if I try to use the voice dial or map finding capabilities while in the car... anyone else experience this?
i have the same problem when my phone is plugged into the aux in my car. the mic just stops working :/

It's annoying - my EVO didn't do this before I returned it.
I ordered a few inline microphone adapters for $2 each on ebay with free shipping - they're the things that allow you to use any pair of headphones with a cell phone as a headset. That should solve that problem, but it'd be nice to be able to use the phone mic when it's connected to my car stereo, as a speakerphone.
I guess the way Samsung saw it if you plug in a headset with a microphone(like the one included with your phone) you would then have 2 working microphones and get an echo. We all know this ends up being a problem in scenario #2 where you plug it into the AUX port on your car, but I guess Samsung did not consider that the most likely usage.
The best solution would be to have a software toggle to pick if the microphone is turned off or not.

I wonder if, on the Epic, this is a hardware thing we're stuck with or if there truly is a software fix.
If the hardware wasn't built to detect when there is/isn't a microphone by checking out the connector, we may be SOL.
While I'm sure the rationale may be the same, please note that this thread, though similar to the 3.5mm headset thread, specifically references bluetooth. The issue happens even if the headset is paired - independently of whether or not it is in use. That's the problem.
just unpair bluetooth when you want to use the speech. only work around so far.
