Hi to all,
the only way to update the AGPS setting (for fast fix in navigation software) is GPRS.
Why if i try to use the current ActiveSync connection the update fail ?
It's possible to update AGPS with ActiveSync or Wifi ?
Thank you!

Hi,
The A-GPS function is hardware related. If using TomTom, TT6 will read out the ephemeris from the satellites directly, it takes much time but no need for a dataconnection there.
Dirk
Updating with wi-fi works for me. Maybe you have a mess in connection settings

HI!
I have been using wifi Companion in all my previous devices, but when I have moved to Trinity it seems to either interfere with other programs (Pocket Controller? O2 suite?) or maybe with AKU 3 itself.:
- Network listing dissapears randomly.
- It shows no connection while the MS icon in topbar says it's connected.
- No WWW etc simbols in the connection page...
Any other experience about it?
Any suggestion in case you solved it?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I got the same problem as well. I just gave up using it :-(
There are other tools mentioned here, that do work to detect wifi networks... please use the search function...
Try using GPSGate from franson. I know this fixes issues with WiFiFoFum on the Artemis. You need to output the GPS data onto another port. There's a free trial available, although I purchased it because it keeps the GPS running permenantly which provides near instant GPS fixes in applications such as tt6 etc.

thanks for answering, but I'm looking for an integrated solution to Wi-Fi management: changing networks, IP-profiles, and so on.
WifiCompanion suits most (not all) of my needs. I don't see any program so complete.
To saminegm: I did research, and tried (in other threads in this forum) with ministumbler, wifi fofum, hitchhiker, Wifi Knife, and -believe me- many others.
It's just that Wifi companion seems to fail in Trinity, that´s the reason for asking especifically in the Trinity forum.
Thansk anyway

Doesn't that use up the battery much faster to have GPS on all the time?
Wrong issue?
BTW weren't we talking about wi-fi programs? What is the issue with GPS? I don't even have a GPS enable ROM, they are not available in Spanish... yet.
Regards.
Hi all,
I have encountered a strange problem on my IPAQ 6915.
I am using the IGo GPS spftware and it suddenly stopped detecting satellites.
The really weird thing is that when I set the IGO to find the GPS on com7 with 57600, the IGO program starts going haywire and it it looks like it is clashing with another program.
I have removed all the latest software I installed (mostly SPB utils) but that didn't help.
Another issue may be a registry cleanup I did with SK tools.
I am not sure how to solve this - any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Danny.
Hi danab11 !
Did you try with Quick GPS Connection and download the newest satelite location files ? You can Try this. You just go to Start -> Settings -> Connection and there is an Icon with name: Quick GPS Connection -> click on that Icon and then press Button: Download Now (Before that Turn on your Wirelless internet connection that software can download this files)
Best Regards,
Drahtman
I think the problem us deeper then actually detecting satellites.
I think the problem us deeper then actually detecting satellites.
I think the IGO software is conflicting with another program.
The strange thing is that it only happens when I set the com port of IGO to 7 (which is the only correct port).
Any ideas?
Same here!
I'm having the same problem, anyone figure this out?
It just stopped detecting satellites, using TT6.
Is there a way to set my Diamond to turn on the 3G connection when I use Tomtom? It turns on when I go into IE and Opera, but when i go to Tomtom it doesn't activate.
Thanks for the help
as far as I know, you dont need 3g or any internet connection for that matter when using TomTom. As long as you have TomTom and the proper maps installed, you can just get all the data you need via your internal GPS reciever.
Ive been connecting to 8-14 gps satellites with the nodata cab installed and all toggled to off, as well as schap's advanced config tool with all network settings to off.
im using 3g connection to get traffic update, you cant receive it with the internal gps receiver!
just try to do traffic update and be sure that the settings are correct ,wap or something instead of your isp
Tnanks for the replies. I could be wrong here and totally off my rocker, but I thought that I get faster signal lock when I have 3G on.
Again, could be way off and I was just seeing things.
djcedric is right about the traffic update. Cvrle1, as far as i know, you are wrong about the faster signal lock. If you use the QuickGPS app via 3G or wifi or whatever data connection you use, it downloads the newest satellite data to your phone, giving a very fast signal lock. After I have the QuickGPS settings it takes me about 1-3 seconds to find all the satellites.
Note that the quickGPS settings are only valid for a week, when it expires you have to run QuickGPS again, otherwise it takes considerably longer to find the satellites.
Hope this helps.
Hi folks,
I'm new to a WinMo device with build in GPS.
But does the Xperia's GPS work as a normal Navigator GPS? or is it just (simple) A-GPS?
I'm confused with this
And if this is a true gps, why can't I use Google Maps or wayfinder without Wifi or 3G connection?
I hope someone can explain this to me :-s
Thanks
X1 works as a normal GPS but he has A-GPS function too
Google maps and wayfinder are Offboard GPS. They have to download maps each time you use them
If you want to use you GPS without wifi/3G connection, you must use an Onboard GPS software like Tomtom Navigator, GarminXT, iGo, ...

Oh that's the reason
Thanks :-D
I thought you can point your location via Google Maps with A-GPS
Like on iPhone 3G ...
Anyway, was planning to install TomTom
Thanks for the explanation
Yes you can point your position via google map but if there is no map to download, it will ask for maps first and tell you it is not working.

I did that yesterday.
Via PC transfered my area into my phone.
but it keeps asking about connecting with..Something..not sure it asks for GPS or Wifi
the icons on the titlebar show if a connection is don using gprs or wifi
the manual have pictures how each connection display as icons
Somehow I can't get my GPS to work on MapKing. Almost made me wonder if X1 only had AGPS.
hey guys I really need your help
I have installed IGO for Israel, and once I upgraded my rom to the latest orange rom I keep getting this annoying message once I start my IGO GPS.
"there is a problem connecting to gprs service in your registered home network"
Please guys help me get rid of this knowing that I don't use the gprs connection at all, and don't want to do that, since I only want to connect to the net via wifi only since using any 3G or gprs is really expensive on my plans
thanks
It just means that you may have Agps (assisted gps) enabled...just disable it and it should solve your problem.
