No audio through headphones on XDA II?

Hi folks,
I was just handed an XDA II at work. It plays audio fine through the internal speaker in all applications until I plug the 2.5mm headphones in - a little crackle on the headphones on insertion, but nothing. I've tried 2 XDA headphones that came with it, and a standard mobile headset. Nada. It seems to have the latest ROM etc. Any tips?
On a related question, assuming I can't fix the 2.5mm plug, I would appreciate any tips on good bluetooth headphones that will bond with the XDA II just for listening to mp3s, watching movies.
Cheers,
B
Try inserting the plug all the way then pulling out slightly while listening to music.
Thanks - I've tried variations on this tip, but I think the socket must be quite dead :-(
No sound through XDAII headphones
I also have the same problem tho I can hear a crackle as I push the jack in and out.

VX6800 to mp3 speakers

Wow I thought this would be easy.. I have a VX6800 Verizon that I enjoy listening to indie 103.1 indie stream through TCPMP except the speaker blows. I thought I would get a usb to mini headset adaptor so I could plug into my mps player speakers, but the adaptor I got from Radio Shack dosen't seem to work? Do I have to change some setting or something to get the audio to go out through the USB jack?
TIA,
Chris

You have a better chance using the Bluetooth speaker set. You get better quality "stereo" and you can increase the volume way louder.
Also try searching for the SRSWOWHD CAB. This enhances the volume in your phone with some modifications in the program.

The adaptor you got from radio shack probably is not wired correctly for the type of connection on the phone, even though it physically fits there it is kind of a propietary connection and has extra pins that are not standard. Many of the phone accesory websites have the correct one. Here is a link to one that works in our phone http://www.elitextreme.com/3stauadforht3.html
jjlwork is right, our phone has 11 pins where typical miniusbs have 10. You wont get it to work right, or you will mess up your phone.
Try this too, I have an extra in case my other breaks cause I use it in my car. I will have a writeup in accessories later today.

Should check... there is some change in 3.35 that causes some of the
audio connetors to not work. Happened on mine. The oem headset does
continue to work.

Vibrant Sound Out + Car Aux In

Hi guys, my 328i has a built in Aux input. And it works great with my Vibrants 3.5 output jack. The only issue I have is, the volume is just not as loud as It is listening from the mp3 CD. The volume for both the phone and car is at full volume.
When I usually listen to mp3 cds, the sound goes up way louder. Is there a way to hack the phone to output louder through the 3.5 jack? Or if any of you have the 328, is there some option to do that?
I don't know about mp3 cds but as for official cds bought from the store, they are definitely a lot louder that the phone through aux jack. Same deal with my g1 before I got the vibrant.I'm sure once the rooting and custom recovery is all sorted out and we start getting some custom roms, the devs will include volume hacks just like they did for the g1.

I'm quite satisfied with the volume. If you need to blow your ears off boost up the EQ.
Actually, it's really weird. Through headphones I can equalize my Vibrant and iPod to sound the same, but through AUX, the vibrant is quieter (Same volume settings). Really makes no sense to me. It has to be something with the equalizer...
Edit: But it is in no way quiet. I have to turn up my car stereo by like 4.
Try a different cable or a higher quality audio file.
I play songs between 192kbps to 328kbps and have no problems. The volume is at the same level since I used my mp3 cd.
appreciate the inputs, i'll look for the equalizer on the phone.
Have you guys tried sending the audio thru bluetooth audio enable car radio? Pretty cool no cables needed
I can even listen to pandora and send the audio to my stereo

whoa, i'm going to have to try this out. any advice?
I have the Pioneer Z110BT Navigation and it has bluetooth audio. Just pair your Vibrant to the Pioneer then play any song on your vibrant using the music player. Click options then "Via bluetooth".
Then go to your stereo and click on bluetooth audio. Voila! Streaming music from your Vibrant to car stereo. The sound is also great!!
Not to hijack this thread but my one complaint of the phone is how low call volume and audio volume are.
Everythings turned up to max and this phone is roughly half as loud as my MT3G is set at 50%.
I have a Sony xplode and play through Bluetooth, I get great sound.
I have no issues with call sound or ring levels. I actually have to turn it down sometimes because its to loud.

I built a custom cable to connect the headphone jack to my Pioneer's IPBUS connector - it works great, and is very loud. I keep both the head unit and phone's volume on half way, and depending on the song I may have to turn it down, too.

How to listen to FM radio using loadspeaker?

Good afternoon
I have been pulling my hair out over this for a bit.... basically i cannot get my Defy to play the FM radio out of the loadspeaker! When i access the media app in homescreen 2 on the right, it plays radio flawlessly, however i like to listen to it via loadspeaker until i sleep. There is a button for the headphones, i have tried pressing this and it turns off the headphones, if i increase the volume after this it just tells me the ringer volume is going up!
Any ideas?
Am i missing the blatently obvious?
Am i a useless freak?
Am i mildly insane?
any help advice suggestions greatly appreciated
Thanx!

Calm, calm... it's not your fault. The radio won't work without the headphones being jacked-in because they act as the antenna. I believe this is the reason.

Yep. Smartphones don't have a built in FM antenna (none I'm aware of anyway) so yeah...unless you are under the broadcast tower you don't have much of a chance of getting any stations.
I have the touch pro which has the same issue. I think someone could likely make a hack to use the speaker, but you would still have to have the antenna present.
Hi guys... thanx but I don't think you are quite understanding my issue . I have the heaDphones plugged in to get reception, however I would like to play the radio through the loudspeaker...whilst leaving the headphones plugged in I could do this with my nokia 5800

When you plug in the headphones it MUTES the main speaker. I think it's a physical thing. I don't think there's an app that can over come it. Unless you've listened to some other source that plays through the main speaker with the headphones also plugged in -- then there should be a way to over-come it. According to a Motorola tech the radio's designed to turn off when the headphones are removed.
ahh!
so it is simply not possible with stock firmware... i shall investigate how to overcome this

Actually I'm just saying I don't know how to do it. But if it's a mechanical connection then I'm not sure any firmware would make it work.
You could try toggleheadset widget from here:
http://code.google.com/p/toggleheadset2/ or the original version http://code.google.com/p/toggleheadset/
It is on the Android market but you have to pay for it.
It was originally developed for the G1 because sometimes it was not recognising that the headset was plugged in. It enables you to toggle between headset and earphones. I had the same problem on my Hero. Although it says it is for Android 1.6, I had it working on a 2.1 rom, but don't blame me if it blows your device up!
crazy
thats retarded of motorola, the stock radio app should have a button to switch the audio from earphone to speaker-phone.
An alternate solution, if you have a good data plan or reliable wi-fi by your bedside, is to just stream the same station over the Internet. Get XiiaLite from the Market and queue up your favourite streaming station. You can set a timer from within the app to turn off after a specified number of minutes or even to fade out slowly.
Very clumsy but incredibly complete is "Radio Time", which Sonos uses as their radio source. It's streaming though.
There's an app on the market called "Sound route switcher." Anyone try that?

Instead of using the headphones as an antenna, you could try using an FM antenna wire like the ones that came with car navi's. It has four seperate sections at the mini jack; it uses the headphone slot on my navi and does not switch off the main speaker of it (probably bridges the contacts that are unbridged by a headphone three piece jack).
Cannot try it here; I have the antenna but no Defy here.

Actually it`s not a physical thing, it can be routed via software to the headphone or the speaker, you can test it by connecting the headphones and them calling to your phone, it will ring through the speakers not the headphone. The Milestone have a standalone radio app and let you hear fm radio through the speaker.
FM Radio loudspeaker fix
I installed a FMRadio.apk on my T-Mo US Defy and it works fine. Just copy to root of SD card and use Astro File Manager to install. Loudspeaker works fine with headphones plugged in. Hope it helps.

Confirm with 2.2 Pays-ROM
Also since it's possible send audio on loudspeaker may it be possible route it on BT headsed?
More than that - there a lot of phones with radio (samsung, for example) which have built-in radio works with earphones plugged in, and i've used pathces on their firmwares to make radio works WITHOUT headset. Ant it worked. @City with good signal, at least.
I too am interested in this, routing audio through my bluetooth headset could be achieved on a Nokia E51, is it possible to do the same thing on Android?
As I known - FM Radio Speaker is an easy-to-use tool that can turn on the speaker to play when the headphones are inserted.
