Can anyone make this very simple program? All it would have to do is set the following registry values:
Disable:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
Enable:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"
"Ime File"="eT9Ime.dll"
This would be alot easier than running cabs or editing values all the time.

I made .cabs that can perform those functions. What I'm looking for is a GUI so that I can just hit enable or disable without installing cabs
Hi,
Search for KforTouchPro. I haven't tested it on a diamond but it might work there as well. It replaces the keyboard driver and then uses a registry key (that can be toggled by KforTouchPro's UI, or by a script or any other program you can cook/think of yourself) to see if it needs to activate the xT9 or M$ keyboard driver.
Cheers,

i'll try to make it for you... but tomorrow... okey ?

Thanks but I can't open the zip

Does this work without soft reset after toggle?
And I too can't open the zip...
Thanks,

sorry it's rar... but i've renamed the file because only zips are allowed as the attachments ... try with winrar...
Yes softreset is needed after toggling... - WM have to re-open reg file...
If this version works, i'll make a console version - it will be lighter (without form), and faster in use: without need of pressing "toggle button", it'll be like well know wifi_onoff.exe... running it, turns wifi ON, another run turns wifi off... without any buttons, forms etc.
in attachment there is zipped application ... with implemented softreset option... (under right softkey) ... try executing application without importing any other files (only cichy3000_T9Tog.exe)
now in zip there's only exe... (i've rearranged some codes + added ico )
Actually... the XT9 toggle switches off the autocomplete of recipient name and disables the sym-key on the hardware keyboard... I dont like it.
Its weird that when I uncheck all the automation boxes from input options, advanced etc. It is STILL there.

I have the 20 Key Touch Dual (nike) and XT9 works great, but depending on what program you are using some applications start in "abc" mode by default. This seems dependant on what feild you are in; Subject feilds like a new calendar item always starts in "abc" mode, where notes and message feilds start in XT9. If you change the settings it will default back next time you open that application. Is there a way to change the default keypress settings to always start in XT9 for all feilds or a way to remember your preference inside each feild.
Anyone have a suggestions/tweak/fix?
Thanks-
Jcostanza4
i also need to fix this it is really annoying
I think you are right and that it's determined by the field or the application. I've noticed that it defaults to "abc" in fields and applications where non-standard (unusual) language is often used; i.e. calendar entries, phone book, connections settings fields, etc.
There must be a workaround though...
Does anyone found a solution to this??
It's really annonying to have to change everytime for having the xt9 enable. I found a sort of shortcut: long press on the button "*/xt9" and then press "1" but you have to do it each time...
Don't we have a good programmer who knows how to make cab to get rid of this??
i tried this, you can change the keyboard to the normal one, non new htc, this it will be of.
Guys it's simple use file explorer and go to Window\xT9Settings and click to launch settings menu there you can check on/off the following:
-Spell Correction
-Next Word Prediction
-Auto Substitution
-Word Completion
-Multitap Word Completion
Don't know why HTC have hidden it in the windows directory!! it should have been placed in the systems menu in any case you can always create shortcut for it in the programs menu.

But the is no option there to disable or enable xT9 in all applications.
I think this is the same issue as being discussed in this thread - maybe they should be merged.
Even though this thread is the 20-key version the way it reads to me we are all looking for the reg key(s) that set the behavior of xT9...

Im not looking to disable the XT9, but to enable it in every feild by default or ABC mode. Right now certain feilds default to ABC or XT9, so knowing which feild defaults to what is always a pain. If I get used to typing in one mode only everything would be smooth.
This is one of the biggest things that is bugging the hell out of me at the moment with this device. Everything else has been smooth, Really hope HTC fix this in the next version with either a user option to enable the mode you want to use. I am pretty sure that a registry edit could also do this.

I think you are looking for a program like "action screen". Try searching for it! Its from Fabliv and the newest version is the v6.

Yes,
You must soft reset.
Thanks a lot,
I did a soft reset (turn off-turn on). I also see the changed name (from Telefon into Kalender; it's a german version).
But:
If I press the soft key I get a warning, that the program has a unvalid security certificate or could not find or parts of the programm are missing (if I use \Windows\calender.exe). Further ideas what my problem is?
Thanks
Turn off then turn on is not a soft reset. Remove the back cover and poke into the reset hole is one way to do it.

Ok, I thought turn off and turn on is like a reboot of the phone. I use the reset you suggest but I got the same error message.

please check the path andprogram that you have linked to the softkey. Try running that program from start/program and see if the problem is there.
Thanks a lot eaglesteve!
Your advice to put the program into the program tab of tf3d was the solution. Thus I found the regestry entry and also the correct link I have to use. To my surprise it was linked to \Windows\Startmenü\Kalender.lnk and not to the direct exe file in the Windows root folder. After using this path it worked immediately. Btw without any reset!
Change Softkey zu "Sync Data"
Hi,
in TF3D - settings there is the first item "sync data" (in german Daten synchronisieren - Acticesync und Internetdaten), which start directly the synchronisation whis my Exchange-Server.
I would like to put this on my left Softkey instead of "Telefon", but I don't know, which *.exe oder whatever I have to chose therefore.
Does somebody have an idea?

Hello,
try this one for the Pathvalue: \Windows\Startmenü\Programme\ActiveSync.lnk
Good luck.
Thank you very much, but it is not the right Solution, yet.
This opens the ActiveSync Screen, but starts not automatically the synchronisation process.
Maybe there's missing an additional option like ...ActiveSync.lnk -option ?
Just wanted to thank you all for the information; worked perfectly (linked the start menu .lnk item).
Hi!
I'm looking for the aplication or registry tweak which can swich sip keyboard depend on stylus action (in or out). For example, I want to have microsoft keyboard when stylus is out and compact qwerty when stylus is in. Solution from diamond/pro forum doesn't work.
Use HtcExtFun
when I tried to use it I received the information "can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status" and doesn't work for me
Have you edited the .reg file before importing it into the registry? You have to write the EXACT name (case sensitive) of the SIPs you want to use
yes, I've edited but the same information is appear...
Dunno, on my HD works a charm
I don't find the name of my sip keyboard in the registry to update the reg, any idea about it ?
why do you search it in registry? The name is exactely the one written in the popup menu when you change SIP within an app. In french i can only guess: something like "Récoineisseur elaboré", and "Clavier Téléphonique" and so on?
Here is a link: HtcExtFun
It doesn't seems to work on french touch HD : Nothing change when stylus is in or out. I tried v1 and v2; I tried differents keyboards : no error message, but nothing happened : always the same keyboard.

Works fine for me, I got my HD from Singapore though, but it shouldn't matter.
Here is what I did:
- I downloaded HtcExtFun version 0.2 from here.
- Unzipped it
- Modified "HtcExtFun-OnlyStylusSip.reg" with Notepad++ and changed these two values:
"StylusInSipName"="Full QWERTY"
"StylusOutSipName"="Keyboard"- If you want to use different SIP, goto Start Menu > Settings > Input, you'll find there the different SIP possible and their names.
- So once you changed the wanted SIP, you create a folder "HtcExtFun", and copy "HtcExtFun.exe" and "HtcExtFun-OnlyStylusSip.reg" that you just modified in it.
- Then you put that folder into your SD card.
The rest is done from the Touch HD itself.
- Copy the "HtcExtFun" folder under ProgramFiles.
- Run "HtcExtFun-OnlyStylusSip.reg" from there (you need an installed registry editor such as Resco's otherwise you'll get an error)
- Then you can Run "HtcExtFun.exe" and it should works.
But as soon as you Soft reset your device, you'll have to run again "HtcExtFun.exe", unless you want it to auto-start, here is how to do that:
- Using Windows Mobile's file explorer, you copy "HtcExtFun.exe"
- Then go to Windows/StartUp
- then "Paste Shortcut"
Et voila!
The problem is that I'm not sure how to remove the values from the registry if we want to uninstall that hack. But I want to keep it anyway, it's quite practical.
I'm sure we can do all of that automatically using a CAB, and have the possibility to uninstall as well, but I never created any CAB yet.
It would also be nice to have a little program to change the values of the chosen SIP directly from the settings of the Blackstone.
Dis moi si ça marche pour toi.
Im using SIP Change to change the SIP by application. Works nice! You have to use SKSchema to detect the opened window and then launch SIPchange.exe with a parameter (f.e.: Full QWERY) . not hard to configure.

Right & left SoftKeys can be changed using CERegedit while synced to PC, or PHM Regedit directly on your phone.
The keys in question can be found here:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila
I have mapped
HomeLSKPath to \Windows\tasks.exe
with a corresponding link name at
HomeLSKText of Tasks
There are ways to map to other Manila shortcuts like All People.

So now everytime I flash, I just run this cab to change the registry so I get my preferred home page links back.

In Settings, I couldn't find a way to change LSK All Settings from connection settup to actual settings. Dutty did it in one of his ROMs.
thnx guys...that works
thats it, cool !! thanx a lot. I switched the left homekey on my TP2 in Bxsteez ROM from phone to all contacts. Much better Who needs a "Phone soft button" ??

Hi Xaddict,
Great stuff, I want to change the LSK to DeviceLock. Changing the text was obviously no problem, but do you perhaps know the path?
I tried what I got from total commander as path: \windows\VJDeviceLock.exe, but that doesnt really work..

Hi guys!
I tried to change my right softkey from "Menu" to "BT Toggle" (a bluetooth switching program I've already installed) using Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 but it didn't work on my HD2.
When I restart the HD2, the key is changed to "BT Toggle" but after entering the PIN and after HTC sense started the key is named "Menu" again.
I looked into the registry but all is right there, the changes were saved. But why is the new softkey name only displayed before starting HTC sense and not after?
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Oliver
Home RSK
I wouldn't mess with the right soft key of sense.
Only the left.
How would you edit the quick tabs?
If you aren't using sense, only the WM interface, you can edit those SK's.
Did you get BT Toggle to work?
It wouldn't for me.

My english isn't that good...
Using this post by vovichek62 as a guide I used the following process to change the right soft key:
Download LuaDec from here and extract
Copy \Windows\07c67730_manila from device to luadec folder (and somewhere else as a backup).
Open a command prompt there
Run
Code:
luadec 07c67730_manila > 07c67730_manila.lua
Open 07c67730_manila.lua in an editor like notepad
You need to change two functions. The fuction above "SetSoftKey = l_0_0" sets the text for the soft buttons. This is my modified line:
Code:
_application:SetRightSoftkey(Softkey(Locale:GetString("IDS_CONTACTS"), OnMenuPressed))
I think it was originally set to IDS_MENU. That "OnMenuPressed" is the function called when you press it.
So now you need to change that function - The function above "OnMenuPressed = l_0_0". On mine this is now:
Code:
l_0_0 = function()
_application.Navigation:Navigate(URL("Manila://people/browserlayer/peopleAll.page"), false)
end
Now, back in the command prompt run:
Code:
luac -o 07c67730_manila 07c67730_manila.lua
and copy 07c67730_manila back to your device.
If you were up for it you could probably copy some of the left soft key code to allow changing the right soft key in the registry.
Xaddict is right, once you do this you can no longer tweak your home buttons. If I need to change one I go back in to the registry and find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\0\IsSet (where 0 is the button number) and change the value to 0. If you then restart manila (or your device) you can change that button. It will still show the old text and icon until you do. I also made a simple .reg which clears all the buttons, attached. For me it was worth this hassle as I could remove the People tab.
Tx fot BT Toggle
Nice one.
Thanks very much : )

iv just made a new 07c67730_manila file that reads from the registry
so all you have to do is download my 07c67730_manila file
http://www.filefront.com/16489283/07c67730_manila
then copy it to your windows folder (backup the old 07c67730_manila file)
then in registry at:
HKLM > Software\HTC\Manila
Change:
HomeRSKPath
HomeRSKText
HomeRSKArguments
to anything you like
for contacts:
HomeRSKPath Manila://people\browserlayer\?.page
HomeRSKText anything you like something liek contacts or all people
HomeRSKArguments leave this blank
how to remove quick Links without the menu:
all you do is hold the quick link you dont want for about 3-4 seconds and then drag it away this works on my dutty rom but gessing its the same for all roms
I am using HD2Tweaks - beats the hassle of backing up/copying manila files, editing registry entries - to assign the left and right softkey at the Home/Today screen.
But the available options are a fixed set.
Telephone (default for left), Menu (default for right), Backlight, Contacts, Contacts List, Notes, Calendar WM, Calendar WM (week view), Calendar WM (month view), New Appointment, Tasks, Messaging, SMS/MMS, Internet, Opera, Camera, Album, Comm Manager, File Explorer, Google Maps, Internet Sharing, MyPhone, RSS Hub, Radio FM, Windows Live, You Tube.
