Prompt for lock screen without waiting the preset time limit? - XPERIA X1 General

basically i got the password set to be asked for when the device isnt used after 1 hour but sometime i want to be able to lock the device instantly and then be asked for it without setting the time limit to 0 mins - when i just hold the lock buttn it doesnt prompt for the pass either - thanks

Any one got any ideas? or maybe some sort of different lock system entirely?

I used the lock feature today for the first time and had exactly the same thoughts. I'd like to be able to lock it at will too.

Throttle Lock seems to be a good alternative to the very annoying built-in function.

wow thanks alot !
just what I was looking for!

Tiny app does this perfectly
Found this a while ago right here in XDA Devs ... works perfectly on my Xperia
It does exactly what I wanted -immediately locks the screen when you run it (requiring password to unlock)
I use Slide 2 Unlock, and have my default password set to come on after an hour like you ...but sometimes I need to be able to lock it straight away
I have this little app as a shortcut on my today and thus can lock instantly whenever I need to -give it a try!
Thanks to slow23
Enjoy!

ZOMG. This is definitely a step in the right direction.
I'm going to contact the developer and find out if I can get the code to the lockscreen disable portion of the app. Would love to see if I (or someone with actual Android programming experience) could tweak that into something that disables the swipe lock but can keep the pattern lock enabled.
-edit-
Email sent, though BIP's developer is out of town this weekend. If anyone knows of any other apps that accomplish this, I'd be interested to know.
lock 2.0 disables it, as well as the app "no-lock".
problem is, even with the new version of battery indicator, every app ive tried the stock slider still manages to come back someway somehow , battery indicator seems to be the best solution so far, and im wondering if its lock 2.0 that somehow brings back the stock slider.

Hey have you ever been able to receive a response from the dev?
If you are seeking a "new" lock screen, or the "no slider" look.
I highly recommend Widget Locker.
It has a root bypass of the lock screen "5 second rule" which starts up the "old" lock screen.
I bought the app, used the root bypass option, and i havent seen my old lock screen yet.
They even have a keypress unlock, if you want a very simple lock screen, and you can hold your back button down for .5-2sec or so to unlock.
Though, I dont use the pattern lock, so i have no idea if it works in combination with this or not?
Edit: Disregard, I didn't realize the age of this thread D:
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread. Funny thing is that I actually did start using WidgetLocker and I DO sometimes get the stock lock screen before it starts, so I was looking for a way to completely disable the stock lock. There are some apps out there that remove the stock lock but it causes every hardware button to wake the device up, which is no good. (This includes battery indicator as I just found out)
Yea, thats no good, it kinda defeats the purpose of having some sort of alternative lock screen when it wakes up on key press like that
I'm not sure why, but i have never got the lock screen to pop up again, unless i kill widgetlocker myself.
Well, if you indeed find out how to get rid of that lockscreen, i would love to know, it would be nice to not have a app constantly running pretending to be an alternate lockscreen, you know?
I am using the Extended Controls app from the market.
With it you can enable & disable just about everything the X10 uses (including the lock screen).

Swipe Lock & Pattern Lock

Normally I use Widget Locker, so I'm not sure how this all works...
I've set a pattern which comes on if the phone is off for 3 minutes. When that happens, first I have to swipe down and then also put the pattern in.
Can it not be set to one or the other? Simple down swipe if before 3 mins, just the pattern if longer than 3 minutes?
I've looked through options but I can't see any way to set it this way
Same problem here, my samsung galaxy s doesn't have this double lock issue
Yeah, me too.
I mentioned it to HTC Support, they said they'd pass on the feedback.
If they get enough comments they might do something about it!?

If you enable the pattern lock, you need to go through with 2 locks...this is the way it has been since 1.6. If you disable the pattern lock, its just the Swipe all the way.
looks like the Swype will stay ON whatever you do.

Nope, not on standard Android. On the N1 you press the power button and get the pattern lock.
Maybe it's always been like that on HTC Sense... not necessary though.

Get rid of lock screen?

Is there any way of getting rid of the lock screen? I have a good case so i really don't need the lock screen. I have tried several widgets and apps that is suppose to disable the lock screen but it keeps popping up from time to time.
noLock free in the market, worked perfect for me when i was testing it out, but i like having a lockscreen now that i can make widget locker look like my home screen
lockscreen is important for security. Especially on a corporate enviroment (comapny forces me to lockscreen with code to prevent sensitive info on my tab getting viewed).
Also helps with tampering kids.
Im using nolock but lockscreen keeps popping up from time to time anyway. Its really annoying. As for security there are many ways to mitigate risks, one in this case would be to keep the gt out of reach of my kids (3 and 6). I see a bigger risk in one of them dropping it to the floor or something. ;-)
Check out an app in the market called Killswitch.
It's designed for use with tablets and cases. It removes the lock screen and turns off the screen when you close the case.
The dev of this app is active on here and is quite receptive to feedback. Name is 'ftgg99'

I actually already have killswitch, i like it, i just never used the no screen lock functionality in it, it was actually worse when i tried it out earlier. But i have now uninstalled Nolock, thinking that it might have been a conflict between killswith and Nolock when both where active. I activated the no screen lock functionality in killswitch and it seems to work ok.
Thank you for reminding me about the no screen lock functionality in killswitch.
Grrr the lock screen just popped up again, and i have activated the no screen lock functionality in killswitch!

LOLz don't blame me blame Samsung for not giving an option to cancel lock-screen. Besides 3 seconds to unlock a screen by simply sliding your finger across isn't much of an effort is it

I use my stock euro tab with my corporate exchange mail wich usually forces a password in addition to the screen lock which makes the thing useless for the family members...
I got myself the touchdown mail app and apart from being ugly and very advanced it actually only demands a password when using mail and calender app which is clever - stock 1 sec slide is the only thing needed to use everything else!!
Brilliant!
I had the same issue too as was using the corporate email on my tab. And found out a few weeks ago about touchdown. That resolved the problem. The issue with using corporate email is that you have to key in the security lock password all the time, and its really annoying.
To disable the lock screen just install "Battery indicator pro" and press "disable lock screen" on the main interface of the app, woks for 3 days without any issues.

Nahh. . . That did not work at all. . . Lockscreen keeps popping up, . . Does anyone know how to break it or something?
I wish I could remove the ugly lock screen, especially that I use the tab in landscape mode almost all the time.
I wouldn't mind the lock screen if it can rotate to landscape, is there a way to do that?

In killswitch select the 3rd lock setting on unlock on activation and it will skip the lockscreen it worked the best for me. Also do not kill the kill switch app or it might stop working.

Hmm. . . It just hit me that it might be the exchange sync that keeps enabling the Lockscreen through pushed security settings. . . Ill have a look into that tomorrow. . .

[Q] Smart Lock enabled but temperamental in Lollipop / N910FXXU1BOC3

So after a bit of digging around and research, I managed to find and enable Smart Lock. For those of you who didn't know, it's hidden under Security > Trust Agents. After you've enabled, a new 'Smart Lock' menu appears at the bottom of the Security settings menu where you can manage your Smartlock features. Interestingly, it also features the new 'on-body detection'.
So I set it up about 3 days ago but it doesn't always work for me and I'm questioning if it works at all. My lock screen is set to re-enable after 10 minutes of inactivity so it may just be that I logged in during this time and thought that it may be working. I have 3 differen't ways of using smart lock, all of which are enabled: 1= Bluetooth devices including my Moto 360 which is always connected 2=Location, my home address and 3=On-body detection.
But yeah, as I say, it doesn't seem to be working as 90% of the time, I still have to enter my pin to access my phone. Anyone else tried this or willing to test it out? I'm running the first N910FXXU1BOC3 release from Netherlands/Samsung Experience stock.
bumpy - Anyone!?
Went out of the country and decided to try it out, was working great, but here and there I noticed that the phone gets unlocked in the pocket on second day of using this feature, my pictures and music folder has been deleted, I suspect that it happened accidentally in the pocket... Don't have any other explanation. I would avoid this feature while traveling or if you have to pull out phone quite often.
I'm also having the same issue, mine doesn't work when using Smart lock with my Moto 360, it keeps asking for my finger print to unlock...
I have used On-Body Detection and I can say that it worked great from my point of view. One thing to mention, i don't keep my phone in the pocket of my pants, always pocket of my jacket so did not have any issues with unlocking by itself and performing random operations.
But on BOC3 i did notice that the phone was constantly awake and one of the things i tried was disabling on-body detection i can see now that the wakelock issue was resolved and i'm getting a estimated 3 Days left on 80% battery. From my point of view this is more important that unlocking the phone easier
And regarding the trusted devices part and pairing with a smartwatch, i don't see the security benefit of that as the Bluetooth range is quite big. From a security point of view, trusted devices based on a Bluetooth link is not a good idea.
Its not working at all for me with 'Trusted Devices' - I use my Motorola 360 as a trusted device and it all confirms its set up. The only change it actually makes though is that when I wake up my phone, I have to swipe up to access my pin entry screen. Whereas if I disable smart lock, I get straight to the pin entry screen! This was a completely clean flash of BOC5 (Lux) all data, system, cache, etc was wiped and formatted before install through ODIN.

Are you guys sure that you're using the feature correctly?
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Works 100% of the times for me.
Check out this video I made to explain it better:
Smart Lock works awesome on my phone. I have my truck's bluetooth as a trusted device and I set up my home as a trusted location. Both work flawlessly but one thing I had to do was add an additional location for my home along with the preset "Home" location I had set up in Maps a long time ago. It wouldn't work until I manually added the 2nd home location.
It's a great feature.

Thanks!
It's just not intuitive. I didn't think to swipe outside the lock ring.
Is it possible ty by-pass unlock screen completely, when in "trusted zone"? Without root.
I'm currently using KNOX and have lockscreen disabled.
If I enable lockscreen (to check its features etc), to disable it again I would have to delete my KNOX container.

I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, I like the idea of being able to quickly secure my screen without, for example, disconnecting my BT earphones. Plus, it's more difficult to aim for the little lock icon than to actually swipe in the middle of the screen.
I am not sure about your question as I don't use the KNOX container, sorry! It sounds though as a security measure that is not possible to bypass. But I could be wrong.

How to double tap to sleep without require to enter password instead of fingerprint?

I tried nova launcher with tap to sleep app, but every time reopen the phone it will require me to enter the password again.
I think this is a new marshmallow feature. If a third party app locks phone, it requires password. What happens if you manually lock or let time out.

Screen Lock Pro by Prahallad has a setting to bypass security. There is a free app by the same Dev but I haven't tried it.
Once installed you can link Nova's double tap setting to it.

Hi
Thanks for the pointer, I tried the free version of the app, and setup my Nova's double-tap gesture to use Screen Lock shortcut, I am able to lock the screen but unable to wakeup w/ a fingerprint. Is there something special you had to do?
Thanks in advance

It just turn the screen black until it lock itself. Takes about 3-4s. I know the developer wrote there 10s but it only takes 3-4s on s7e. You know it when the AOD comes on etc etc...
As of now, from what I can tell there is no way to use an app or double tap to lock the screen without requiring a pin for a non rooted phone. Apps that turn off the screen but don't lock the phone isn't really an answer.

It is an answer though. You just have to tweak the settings in the security section so the phone locks immediately. There is still a 2 sec delay but to get to lock the screen with a double tap again and get to unlock with touch ID it's fine. It costs a little over $3 though.... which isn't much but is on the steep side for such a single purpose app. There is a marshmallows touch ID workaround setting in it as explained which merely turns the display blank (although for me the edge thing is still visible) then after a really short delay the screen actually turns off and AOD turns on. With the system settings set right it actually locks securely the moment AOD turns on. Max 2 sec delay. No one's gonna get a chance to get in your phone that quick.:good:
So, I did come across this same issue, and it seemed to have started for me when I applied the May Security Update. It happened on my Note 5 and my S7 Edge. But when I applied the July security patch to my Note 5, double tap to lock WITHOUT a pin next login actually worked again, not so on my S7 Edge, after applying. Havent had enough time to research and dig, but doesn't make sense working on 1 and not the other when both are 6.01, both on July security patch, both Verizon models, and both use Nova Prime. Has had me stumped since May....
Sorry. Original post placed in forum for wong device.
