Hi guys im still very new to flashing and ive googled it a few times and couldnt come up with anything. So here goes:
I flashed to adp 1.5 the newest one out and did the radio update first etc. Then after some reading realized it doesnt have myfaves. So i need to go back to the JF Rc33 untill cupcake officially is modded for the RC version.
I was worried about the radio update, if i do a wipe and then update to 1.42 (or 1.43 i cant remember) will it screw up anything since i did the radio update to upgrade to adp 1.5.
Sorry if im not making sense let me know and ill do my best to explain better?!?!
really do search carefully before you post. somebody has posted a very detailed downgrade guide on the second/third page.
i think the new radio works with old builds. even if the radio is not compatible, you won't get a bricked phone anyway.
That and not having the [email protected] 5 app on your phone is not going to stop you from calling those 5 people for free. I'm actually glade jf1.5 doesn't have it on there i could never stand it
Im sorry i read quite a few of the radio threads and googled most of the keywords i could. I'll take a look again so much info here i easily could have missed it.
I didnt know that those 5 people are regardless of the app. So if i wanted to change them do i just do it online at the tmobile website?
is there any danger then for using adp instead of the RC besides i guess some of the messaging apps arent there?

Can I by not going through all the other firmwares?
yes rename it to update.zip and home+power and alt+s
A related question: it may be too early but has anyone tried going from the OTA 1.5 to RC29? Any reason why that wouldn't work?

People have been upgrading and downgrading since the birth of time , there are no issues when it comes to this, im assuming by RC29 your wanting to unroot??

That's really what I'm getting at, like say a person gets the OTA 1.5 and wants to root it. They would have the stock SPL. I don't think the stock SPL is a problem as I was running the lucid JF1.42 for a while and just loaded the hard SPL recently before I upgraded to the JF1.5 ADP. Just wondering if new customers and/or unrooted 1.5's will still be able to root their phones by flashing to RC29.
I know some people have unrooted their phones and loaded the OTA 1.5 just to check it out. No one has said if they were able to revert it back to a rooted build yet.

I have to agree. Shouldn't be a problem to upgrade or downgrade no matter what build its on.

The only thing I can think of is the radio. I know it was causing some problems with one of the SPL's, and reflashing to RC29 has nothing to do with that. But I also read that reverting back to the old radio had caused problems, and I don't know if RC29 will boot with the new radio. This is assuming RC29 doesn't have a radio update of its own, I honestly don't know.
Yes you can. I had the RC33 and updated to the CRB17 the UK1.5 cupcake.
I lost myfaves and amazon. I gained a program called "web n walk"(T-Mobile's UK mobile store). Well, after that I received the 1.5 OTA CRB43 update I didn't get myfaves back or amazon. So...I downgraded to the RC29 then to a file called RC29 to RC33 update, finally to the US 1.5 CRB43. Now everything is the way it should be. No problem with the downgrade to RC29. From what I understand if you can get to RC29, everything from there is as it was.
Here's the link. It's about half way down the page in blue.

If you have UK 1.5 and want to update to US 1.5,
you can simply install US 1.5.
No inbetween steps required!

I was able to revert back. I my phone was rooted and before jf made the us 1.5 rom I went back to original spl and rc29 just to install the US Tmo OTA update. And earlier this morning I just went back to rc29 to reroot so I could update to jf's 1.51us.
I didn't go straight from rc29, I at least flashed JF's rc33 before going to JF's 1.51-US.

Hey Guys,
i recently got root on my dream and updated from RC29 to RC33 1.1
which one should i be following to get to 1.5 CRB43 which is the latest US update right? can anyone link me to where i should go to do this.
Thanks guys!
im wondering if i could get the non "raped" version of the 1.5 firmware for my dream and actually have a google phone... and not some half assed rogers mess.
right now i have a brand new HTC dream with 1.5 rogers, build 1.85
easiest way to unbrand it?
I wouldn't exactly call it a mess...Rogers hasn't done a lot to "brand it". 3 icons and a splash screen? I have seen way worse.
But to answer your question, check the developer forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=448
You'd need to root it, then you can flah any Google source based build you want.
You'll want to start here
Don't be doing what is in that link, it involves writing a phone-killer spl to it.
You don't need to change the SPL or radio.
Root it, write on a boot.img with a kernel built from HTC's kernel source, and install your most preferred system.img.

Do you know where we could find this file? Also, if we already installed the danger spl and updated radio how can we go back? My radio locks up sometimes so maybe the new radio for the rogers dream will fix this issue.

Look in the various community builds to see if they mention having an HTC sourced kernel.... if you can't find one, download the source from developer.htc.com and compile it yourself.
As for going back from deathspl, I think I saw an official rogers nbh floating around somewhere... installing that should put the thing right back to stock and shouldn't be much risk of bricking.
I know you might not like Rogers rom,but I'd highly recommend the Rogers rom you can see in my signature,it's really nice, you can remove the Rogers apps, while you have apps2sd and all the goodies. That's the version I have been using for a couple of weeks and is really nice, plus the Hero theme is very nice.

maybe: don't flash hard-spl on the rogers dream, only 2005
I've been running cyanogen for over a month perfectly on my rogers dream. Absolutely nothings gone wrong, and I've updated it several times (gotten kernel and rom zips then going into recovery and flashing the new cyan rom then new kernel). Up until cyan 2.12 this was working, but when I tried to upgrade from 2.10 to 2.12 I was getting stuck on the Rogers screen. I nandroided back each time and tried again, first flashing the new rom then radio kernel. I even refollowed the entire cyanogen guide getting a new system.img and everything using 2.12 but it wouldn't take. I'm clueless. I've done wipe data and it does nothing to fix it.
im running 4.2.13 right now, ive upgraded each time there has been a new update out since 4.2 started. do you apply the 1.6 devphone before the cyanogenmod?

Not before every upgrade, but when I first installed cyanogen mod I used HTC ADP 1.6 "Recovery" (-ota-) image.
should do that for every upgrade
well atleast i do anytime i flash a new cyanogen rom i always do the 1.6 first.
never had a single problem with any rom, not anything like you see people complaining about in his thread. only the ones that he fix's like contact issue.
rarely get FC's ever

i have not wiped my phone once since i rooted it.
and i leave 1.6 on my sd card at all times. then just download the newest cyan update from cm updater, and go to recovery.
nana backup
flash 1.6
flash cyan
reboot
and then recovery flash theme reboot

I used cyan's method to root, so I need to flash the kernel with the rom.
I couldn't have used hy's method because I need HSPA and I believe that doesn't give it to me. No EDGE coverage here.

have you installed the ebi1 kernel also? try that. (only if your radio is the one that starts with a 3)

It was to my understanding that only cyan's rogers rooting allowed for me to keep running at 1800mhz. I'm on Bell with my Rogers phone here too, so Bell doesn't even do anything else except HSPA. Maybe the one I'm thinking you did isn't the one you really did. Did you use the one that doesn't make you use a kernel for each new cyan?

I don't think using a radio other the 3 one works with hspa for our phones.
so id have to re-root.
thats fine, im pretty much done with rogers.
i dont know if when you install cyangen rom it installs a different radio
cause it says writing radio when installing the rom.

O.T.A. for My Touch 3g Fender/1.2
Okay this thread is for the My Touch 1.2/Fender OTA to be released 1/12/11. If you have any insight as to what we need to do to "catch" this update please post here. I know a lot of people are going to say the Magic OTA has already been released but this is a different phone that was not included in the first update and I'm sure the Magic forum Moderator knows this better than most. Does anyone know for sure if we can just be on the stock Fender ROM with root and still receive the OTA? Any information regarding this topic is welcome please post for the rest of us!

Use logcat (search this forum) to capture the download link(s).
Expecting three separate zip files we collectively need links for. First should be new hboot/radio package. Second will be the ROM package for each device (one for for 1.2 and one for Fender.)
Edit: No more than two files, we already have hboot and a radio update (if any) would be packaged with the ROM itself. - K
Now what I want to know is will this keep my phone from rebooting when I get a Gmail or SMS notification while using Google Nav and Pandora radio at the same time?
Kind Regards,
Kevin

I unrooted the wifes phone to make sure it catches the update. I'll be sticking with CM 6.1. I'm going to have her not do the updates when she gets prompted so I can pull the links. I don't imagine we'll see an SPL update, but I'm thinking we might get the new radio. We'll see, unless its in that announcement from T-Mobile already.

I found a nice one in the market and the best thing about is after testing the logcat won't start when I start the app it will have information from long before the app starting point so this should work nicely.- See the update message start the logcat and it should go back far enough to include when the message was sent and any temporary cache download links (lets hope) This should get me the first one till I get home and hook to my computer-will running the ddms during the update process get any subsequent links?

I'll add some tags in a few minutes.
If you are just using the stock just for the Swype keyboard you can look into SlideIT. Can't remember how much it costs but it's pretty much the same thing. Really. Some may even argue that it's better.
Regarding the update for the rooted stock roms... you should be able to get the update still. My theory is that the rom, spl and radio would be the only thing to get the update. Rom (stock), SPL, (1.33.0013), radio (2.22.23.02) possibly kernel. If any of these are different then you may not get the update. Another theory of mine is that it may require a certain build.prop file. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure that I used the same build.prop file in my rooted stock rom. So either way I don't see why you wouldn't still get the update.
Looks like I need to find a flashable 2.23.XX radio I switched to the 2708 radio when it came out.
