GB Tweak does not work on Windows Mobile 2005 Does anyone know of a hack that will keep GPRS on as "connected" like GB Tweak can do for BA's, Alpines, and Hemalaya's? Help!!!! It sucks that gprs disconnects when you are not actively using it.
Mike
Use phone alarm 1.22 .Tested working on WM 5.0 on Himalaya and BA
To KCA
I use AIM (This AIM switches the Taskbar to bottom)
Install, Run, go to setup and select Keep Connection Alive, Sign-On
I then press the Windows Logo and hit today and have AIM in the Background to KCA The longest I stayed on so far is 26 hours. It bumped it off cause I hit activesync
Doesn't work. For windows mobile 2005
?
I have it running on WM2005 Sx66

Hdubli,
I couldnot get the latest version of phone alarm to work on WM5 on my BA. Or do you mean to say that only 1.22 is working on it and not the newest beta.
Thanks.
Hemant.

Is there any other fix?
For those of us who do not have (or don't use) AIM accounts, is there another fix to keep GPRS always on?
Thanks,
Fernando
i have installed GB-SOFT Tweak but i want the GPRS to turn off when i disconnect. I cannot do that though. Does the GB-SOFT Tweak really work?
aim download
tried to download the cab direct to jasjar but the filename is download.php even if I change filename the ext .php remains.
any ideas ?
I'm curious about this as well.
I miss the fact that you could manually connect to gprs. Now you have to launch the application and let it connect.
If anyone found a way to manually connect and stay connected please let us know.
Thanks
has anybody found a solution for this ? to keep GPRS allways on ?

GPRS Monitor lets you connect, but yeah, I'd love something to keep alive. The GPRS-On Tweak did exactly what it said on the tin.

aim for mobiles
i just got a pocket pc how can i get aim on my phone?
i installed this AIM onto my phone but whenever i try to select sign on it tells me an unknown communications error occurred. i use agile messenger and that always connects me so i wonder why this won't work. i'm using t-mobile MDA with the latest update from their site
Ok, so since T-Mobile and Cingular (here in America) want to ban the use of AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC, and instead, use their service (which charges 10cents an IM), I was wondering if anyone has worked on a hack to fix this.
Basically, both companies have done something to the software, in which when AIM is installed, it will not allow you to sign on. Please note... I am NOT looking for a replacement suggestion for AIM, I am looking for the AIM program itself. There has to be SOME sort of way around this tweak, and I am truly hoping one of the many genius minds that browse this forum would be so kind enough as to help.
do you some sort of error or it just doesnt send
have you tried agile..? it has all the instant messengers
Hello!
This is what I use, and I don't seem to get 10 cents a IM.
Just unzip the cab and transfer it to your device and install!
*Edit* I am in the USA also, just so ya'know.
Agile messenger would be your best bet.
It acts a service and send text messages to your phone instead of the actually message. Just as long as you have a text plan you should be fine.
I prefer Verichat to Agile. The only draw for Agile right now is that it's free, but it's beta. The beta version of Agile likes to crash a lot. Verichat is on th expensive side, but I think it's worth it.
Go here, aol.co.uk and download the aim version for mobile. It's free as compared to installing the EXACT SAME VERSION from the U.S. aol.com which they want $19.99 for. The installer has capabilities for installing on a wide range of pocket pc's, as well as ones with MIPS and ARM processors.
The link once again is aol.co.uk
Good luck!
They charge $20 for that chunk of crap?!? That thing barely functioned under 2003 3 years ago.

i thought agile uses internet?
I was under that impression also. Then I read around on the internet and people were saying that it does indeed act as a gateway to thier servers and sens txt messages back and forth.
Now after your reply and I checked to make sure, I'm finding both answers...So I'm not sure anymore.

Awesome!! That works amazing!
Is the start bar inverted to get it to work here?
Because I remember trying aim before and the thing wouldn't work right but the start bar wasn't on the bottom like this one.
Is it hacked or something?
Very nice though. Thanks!

My son and I both use Agile on our 8125's with a data plan. Agile useage goes against the kb/data, NOT the text messaging. You have to be connected to the internet to use Agile -- either through WiFi or GPRS.
We've NEVER been charged for text messaging using Agile.
Great! I can cancle my text message plan.

There is but it won't work on WM5...
Unless some one can hack it like that above AIM program to move the WM5 start bar to the bottom when the program is active.
Let me break it down for you gentlemen...
Basically what's been happening (here in the east coast of the US at least) is Pocket PC phones have been becoming increasingly more powerful. Obviously, T-Mobile and Cingular are no dummies to waves, so they started to release some of their own. But in an attempt to garner more money, they've been releasing their own versions of AIM, which basically charge the user a text per message (sent or received). In addition, they basically disabled the old AIM 2.0, which was (and still is) highly popular amongst Pocket PCs that aren't branded, or simply don't have a phone equipped in them.
That button on the button that says "Sign On"? It's not there anymore. Neither is the File or Edit menus. There's something embedded in the registry that doesn't allow the usesr to use this version of AIM... which is why I created this topic to begin with.
Now as I stated originally, I wasn't looking for alternatives to AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC... I like this version a lot. Back when I was using my unbranded i-mate Jam, I suppose I've gotten inclined to using this version more. I've tried Agile Mobile, but it is still way too buggy for me to want to use as my end-all be-all to AIM. And it's missing a lot of features I've grown used to with AIM 2.0. Other IM clients cost money for something I think should be freely distributed.
To anyone using an i-mate K-Jam, or a QTek 9100... this post simply doesn't apply to you. You picked up your phone unbranded, meaning you have no restrictions from your carrier. And I envy you because of that. But since I'm cheap and I'm getting my Cingular 8125 for $50, I'm trying to figure out some workaround to the situation. Hopefully someone can figure out a hack soon.
MightyMegit ... how certain are you that the program you posted doesn't use texts? Does it use data? I don't have a Wizard yet (hopefully within the next 24 hours), so I'm not able to test it out myself.
Anyway, thanks guys for your help, but I really want my AIM 2.0 back. I wish all you developers luck!!!
thanks for the clarification. i started using the aim 2.0 yesterday.
No wonder i noticed to menus or sign on options. What i do i select "stock quotes" or w.e and that signs me on.
It looks just like aim on pc and has aim sounds so i like the look of it. There just isnt options
I've been searching for days and cant find any torrent client except Adisasta's that cost 20$. And i dont want to buy a software so i cant download free stuff (And not saying the W-word).
I mean there must be atleast one free torrent client?
Why do you need a torrent client for Diamond?
Why do you need a beer program on diamond?
BarateaU PM me
i'm looking for that too. any ideas?
I hope you have an unlimited internet connection on you mobile tariff
me? i have a 6Gb traffic per month.
Well I just meant anyone who intends to d/load torrents on their phone
The only solution.
A far as i can see thats the only solution according to hours of searching on the Internet is Adisasta's WMTorrent. No free program out there right now. But if this is one of your high priorities program i can suggest to buy the program. I have tried it for a while now a works fine with high speed over HSDPA. Tried to test with a file with good seeders and within a minute it was downloading with over 200 KB/s.
Just being picky here but you won't get that speed witha mere GPRS connection, you'll need something faster i.e. HSDPA
I believe GPRS has a max speed of 114Kb/s which only 14.25KB/s
Just in case anyone with a 2G connection was thinking they might get huge speeds from torrents
wmtorrent the best one there is

sorry my bad of cause i meant on HSDPA. i know this is not that much with a HSDPA connection - can go up to 7.1 mb/s right? but this is pretty high speed after only one minute. and the fact that is was a torrent it wasn't that bad.
so in other words and my point: if you need a torrent program there is no free one. and the "expensive" one is good.
Im not asking about adisasta as i know it costs money, im asking if there is anyone for free? I dont feel like paying for something if there is one for free. I mean its not a spaceship im asking for.. Just a torrent client.

I use Fring, which has AIM/YM/MSN/VOIP, etc etc etc included in 1.
Also allows for file transfers, which I use quite a bit.
i use IM+ but there are other apps out there as well
I use palringo. I find that AIM's client is slow and it crashes after using it for a while.
never had any crashes with aim, it works well with me everyday, no custom rom just the latest SEUS update
i tried AIM's official program before... horribly laggy. But that was with R1A. Maybe the R2A firmware performs better with it?

hmm i soft reset my phone and ran the application with wifi and it worked nicely!!
but now im trying to logg on using edge and its still connection...
if i may ask...wat data connection are u using??
and again, Thanks alot for sharing this!
my location is barbados, i am using digicel as my carrier with an unlimited high-speed data plan, it only takes a few seconds for me to connect, i guess its the speed u are connecting with, maybe your edge is slow, i had the same probs with our edge connection as well before i made the switch. when i connect via active sync, the speeds are practically the same as my unlimited data plan which is nearly 1mbps.
Mobile AIM is terrible. I tried to use it, but it is way to laggy. Use BeeJive, it is by far the best I've tried. Very slick, very clean, and very fast interface...plus its free! In terms of its fluid interface, you could be using the iPhone.
http://www.beejive.com/download/winmo/
hmm i see, guess my connection sucks.. thanks for the info.
imma try the beejive version and see...
i dont know why i am the only person who experienced no problems with the mobile aim, the only prob i have with mobile aim is that it wont allow you to change your display pic

Yes...using latest Energy ROM and all works great...can even tether @ $60/month!!!!
Looking to find a cab to adjust simple mobile MMS settings to max...what that max is I don't know yet...defaults to 300k in ROM.
If anyone has anything it would be great...I remember the old school way to change registry, but, I want to throw something in xda_uc folder. If someone knows the max settings I could try adjusting registry and exporting .reg and make a .cab if one isn't floating around.
EDIT: Just read somewhere that T-Mo size limit is 300k, so, inturn, I am "assuming" that Simple Mobile would be the same? However, I also assumed I wouldn't be able to tether and was able to?
Going to test as I just adjusted size to 614400 in registry...not optimistic.
Edit: 497k MMS Failed. 300k...Energy ROM (Simple Mobile) default. No need change settings as I thought.
....searching now. Any links would be appreciated.
