For SDHC to work:
1. Install SDHC_v071227.cab
2. Install to device and press cancel when it's finished. Don't let it reboot.
3. Install Certs.cab. Won't prompt you for where. When finished press reset button on bottom of device.
Tested on Kingston 8gb SDHC card and Pharos 619 running wm6.1. Firmware 1.1.5 Build 9.
GPS:
Press Start -> Settings -> External GPS ->
GPS Program port = COM9
GPS hardware port = COM5
Baud rate = 9600
Manage GPS automatically = checked
Also included a cab so you can use any dialtone.
For better battery life make sure Recieve all incoming beams is not checked under Settings -> Beam
Bluetooth also seems to suck battery life fast on this phone.
If you tried any other SDHC hacks you may have to back up your data and do a factory reset. Start -> Settings -> Factory reset.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I will give it a try tongiht...
Thanks,
I try it with 8G patriot and another 4G card. It works.
But the problem is:
When 619 go to suspend mode and wake up again, I need to re-insert the card or reboot it. Otherwise 619 is very easy to freeze when I visit the miniSD card from file explorer.
Figured out the problems with the hack. Needs an extra step I found in this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=299148
It's far better now. Just as fast as with a 2gb card.
Thanks a lot.
I try jasjamming's SD card fix.cab. It does not make much improvement.
It seems my SDHC card is too slow to be mounted . Or I blame it to Windows Mobile OS, or the SDHC driver.
I try with non-SDHC miniSD card with HTC sdhc driver installed, the bugs also happen.
After I remove HTC sdhc driver, everything is normal again for non-SDHC miniSD card.
It seems to be the SDHC driver issue. Hopefully Pharos could release the official support for SDHC card later for 619.

Tried today and it worked. When I used the HTC version, for some reason, it could only see 4 of the 8gigs. Installed this one and now it "sees" the 8gigs.
Thanks dvdivx!!

It's not perfect. Sometimes you have to pop the card out and reinsert it. At least it is capable of SDHC with the right drivers.

I decided to remove it.
The bottom line for me is that sometimes it read the complete 8gigs, sometimes only 3.5gigs… then there is the need to pull it out and put it back in order to re-access it, which has become annoying, it was just inconvenient, now is frustrating since when it stops accessing the card, everything is paused until one remembers to pull the card out and put it back in.
Not worth the frustration, anyone else had a better experience to share?
It may be that jasjamming’s registry patch needs to be "tuned" to the M619.
Worked on my phone
Thanks! I followed the instructions and it worked on my phone.
My settings are:
KINGMAX mini-SDHC 4G
Windows Mobile 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1437 (Build 17944.0.3.1)
Firmware 1.2.1 Build 2
BTW, how does the NoRingtonelimit work?
Thanks! Works Well!

I purchase a new Sandisk sd WiFi card off e-bay, and it worked okay in my Compact the first time, the second time it failed (no lights).
After a lengthy support call to Sandisk in the US (via UK number), the diagnosis was that the card had died.
Fortunately Sandisk have a couple of UK companies that can handle warrantee claims and my card was dispatched in the post.
I have just had an e-mail from them saying that the card had indeed failed, and that they would be dispatching a new WiFi + 256Mb card instead of the WiFi only card because this card was now obsolete.
I quess i can live with that!!!
Thumbs up for Sandisk, i just hope that my Compact has not caused the failure of the card somehow with a faulty SDIO slot? Memory cards work fine so I hope that the card failure was a one off.
Mike.
Hi,
Wait until you install the driver of Sandisk 256+wifi on compact.
The driver provided by Sandisk is not compatible with WM2003SE. It is only compatible with WM2003. There are a lot of complain say that this incompatible driver caused compact to work not as stable as before.
I contact Sandisk about this and they say that they never say their driver compatible with WM2003SE. Sad!!!
Best regards,
Arto.
Yes Sandisk did say to me that the driver is WM2003, not WM2003SE.
I guess i will have no option but to use the WM2003 driver, what other option is there?
Thanks,
Mike.

I use a sandisk card, but use the socket driver. Works a treat. Couldn't get the sandisk driver to work!!
Is the socket driver working with combo memory and wifi?
If "yes", I will try socket driver. Headache with Sandisk driver
Thanks

Sorry this is only wifi not combo but I think the Socket drivers are better.
I did read that the combo may not work in certain devices not sure if this included the jam.

I have a Jam running ROM 1.06 WWE. My Sandisk 256 meg is working great with the LATEST dirvers from Sandisk.

It may not specify that it works with SE, but it works fine on my Jam. I have access to my home network and do file exchanges with no problem. The only problem I had was when I tried to connect to my network when my router SSID was turned off. So I turned it on and then set up my security settings on my Jam and then turned it off again and had no more problems.
Anyone else having an issue where after the trinity goes into standby maybe 2-3 times you are no longer able to access the minisd card? It still shows it being there.. but if you try to open any files it comes up with errors or will hang before finally timing out. The only way to resolve it for me has been to eject it and reinsert the media. The card works fine in my Wizard so I know it's not the card. The card is a 1gb Kingston Tech.
This dosen't help you anything, but just for information; it works fine for me... I've got a 2 GB miniSD from Sandisk

Maybe you are right and it's not the card, but I have lost count of how many messages I have read in forums about problems with Kingston cards!

thanks for the responses.. I'm going to buy a new card and see if that works better

I went ahead and picked up a 2gb transcend card and now my problem went away. Thanks for the suggestion to try another card.

I'm also having problems with my SanDisk 2GB card. Didn't exactly check if the problems occur once it's gone on stand-by a couple of times but yes, there have been times I've had to eject and re-insert it to get it working again.
I'm fairly sure it's a bug and not the card because I've also been using the same card in my HTC Wizard and it's worked fine.
Hope there are some ROM updates soon.
same problem with my 2gb 80x from transcend, the card disappear in file explorer , i have to eject and re insert it too.
I did see it happen once and that was on the first day of use.
hmm.. wierd my transcend 2gb card has been working flawless for the past 4 days.. whereas my kingston 1gb would disappear within a few minutes. Guess it's all in the luck of the draw at this point until we get a rom fix. At least the good news is that Trinity forced me into upgrading to a 2gb card which I wanted to do anyway. So I'll give the phone credit for at least that
Initially I had the simmilar problems with my Sandisk 2GB card.
Then I discovered that PocketMax Phonealarm 1.57.00 caused problems. After I went back to Phonealarm 1.56.10 everything worked fine again. The most recent version of Phonealarm is 1.58.00 but I did not try that version yet as 1.56.10 works fine for me.
To see if your Phonealarm is causing problems just try to uninstall, softreset and use your device for a while without Phonealarm.
Since I have never used Phonealarm I'd go for a bug.
I have a Trinity and I noticed this problem with every program or data stored on my 2gb card.
Here is my conversation with the HTC support team :
Q : "I have a serious problemn with my new p3600 : each time it resumes from stand-by mode, the micro sd card is not recognized anymore. The result is I can't use my GPS software or any program installed on the card, nor any program can access to system files or music.
WHat can I do to fix this rather bothering issue?"
A : "Dear Mr. Simon,
Thank you for contacting HTC Europe support.
With regards to your query, there are no known issues with this device and storage cards. I would however advise you that these devices though they may work with 4GB cards are only tested with 2GB cards. If your SD card is over 2GB i would advise trying a smaller one.
If the card is 2GB or smaller, you may wish to try a hard reset or a different make of card.
Failing that the contact details below are for your relevant repair center."
If anyone has a hint on this issue, please let us know because it's rather disappointing for such an expensive device.

No problems with my sandisk 1GB card.
I have used a kingston 2gb card for about two weeks now and I do not have any problems whatsoever with standby and this brand of miniSD
I had the same problem initially with a unbranded 2gb mini-sd purchased from ebay. I purchased a new 2gb Transcend and no problems yet.

I just bought a sandisk 1gb and haven't noticed any bug since. Therefore it means the Trinity doesn't like no name cheap memory cards.
At last, I can make the most of my little wonder!
Has anyone tried with the sandisk ultra cards?
I have an Ultra Sandisk 2 GB and it works like a charm on my Trinity. However, I recently used the Pocket Mechanic 2,23 and it screwed up my mini sd and warrented a format from my laptop following the defragmentation of the card through Pocket Mechanic. It is reported that Pocket Mechanic screws the sds if you use them to mess/ format or defragment the cards. I reinstalled everything with the exception of PM and now I have no problems.

Hi, I'm having problems with the 2Gb Dane-Elec mini SD card in the Trinity (original; did not flash it or something...)
The card just cannot be accessed after a while, or after I run a program off it. For example: I have TomTom Navigator maps stored on it. When I run TomTom, All works fine, but when I close TomTom, the card cannot be accessed anymore. In the explorer, the folder list is all garbled and shows strange symbols. When I remove the card and re-insert it, all works ok again. So, after I do something with the card, I have to remove it and re-insert it in order to get it working again.
When I then re-insert the card, it shows up in the Explorer with the name "StorageCard2", because apparently when the card cannot be found, a folder called "StorageCard" is created on the device.
I'm trying to figure out if this is caused by the storagecard being faulty, or perhaps an error / incompatibility in the device.
Any ideas? many thanks in advance!

It seems that the Trinity has this problem with some memory brands more than others. I have a 2GB sandisk and I don't have this problem. Another possibility is that problems lie in how the memory card is used: I use the card only to store music and other documents, but I don't have programs installed in the card.... maybe that's the reason why I am spared this problem?
I'm having the same issues with a TakeMS 2GB mini sd card. I've tried different formats (FAT16, FAT32) with no success. I sent an email to HTC and they told me they didn't know of any incompatibility problems with mini SDs.
same here in greece with mini sd 2gp sandisk and take ms !!! only 1 gb work perfect
Same problem with TakeMS 2Gb miniSD. Works fine on my girlfriend's nokia N80.

You've probably already tried, but formatting the card with XP with a card reader in FAT 32 might help.
Mine is starting to have the same problem too! I have a Kingmax 2gb minid-sd card. However. I didn't see any problems like this until a few days after I flashed to the new gps rom. A soft reset will bring everything back for me.
My SanDisk UltraII 2Gb works perfectly so far, both in FAT32 as in good ol' FAT format.
I don't think this is a card compatibility problem, more likely a bug in the OS somewhere or a conflict with some program. I have an SanDisk UltraII card like oVan (don't smile too long oVan ). Everything was fine for two weeks and then I experienced the problem, only the card got corrupted. I did a hardboot and reinstall and it seems to be fine for now.
It did happen after I did a restore created by SPB Backup (latest version). I noticed after the restore some things weren't as they should be. Not sure if it caused the problem or if it was just coincidence.
I think it would be helpful in figuring this out if people posted their Rom versions in case it is a bug in one of the roms, no?
Mine is
Rom: 1.15.405.5 10/23/06
Radio: 1.20.00.11
ExtRom: 1.15.405.101

Same problem here... and i am using a 2gb sandisk minisd card... occasionally I won't be able to see my files... and it will sometime give me weired characters when i open in the explorer... a soft-reset will bring it back to life again, but this is very annoying.... I remember the Magician had a similar problem with the SD card until finally a ROM upgrade became available that would fix the problem.
Early adopters have all the fun
Same with Kingston 2GB
Same here with the Kingston 2GB card. Happened to me both before and after the ROM upgrade. A soft-reset (or ejecting/reinserting the card) fixes it, but it's quite annoying!

Can't wait to see what they do with the info...
I have some new information regarding this issue.
I formatted my Kingston MiniSD with another PC and so far so good.
When I used the phone or my home desktop to format I keep getting this problem 4-5 times / day.
But 2 days ago I reformatted my MiniSD with a laptop and since then everything OK.
Maybe you can try the same (try to format another memory reader) and we will see if it helps.
I've tried to reformat the card with a laptop, with a desktop pc (both with card readers) and in the device using storage tools with no success. The symptoms are similar to the ones reported by sdhc card owners. Does anyone made any progress with this?
I had an Apacer 2GB card and I had the same problems. I also first thought it was the card but now... Actually I'm afraid of buying a new card because I alread lost some great pictures/videos.

@Ivsw,
Is this fix a global fix for mini sd, or is it just if you have a SDHC card? In other words, will it mess things up if you just have a standard 4gb card? My card is pretty reliable right now (with a couple of exceptions here and there) and I don't want to make things worse. Thanks.

Hm, I may have done it wrong, but it still disconnects the card when the Trinity goes to sleep.
I installed the driver (upon completion of the install it says it may not display properly because it is for a older system, or something like that.)
Then I opened Resco and formatted the card. I thought there was a difference in formatting schemes, but Resco did not offer an option for SDHC formatting, should there have been one? It seems like it's FAT32.
Am I lost and doing something wrong here?
Thanks!
There is no driver, or any other files, installed by this cab.
It contains registry settings for two keys, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\SDHC and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
The values that are set are the exact same ones that are the defaults in the first DOPOD GPS enabled test rom, with just one exception being a cache size parameter that is changed from 0 to 4K; that's all.
So installing this cab will not cure the SDHC problems that people, myself included, are having with the DOPOD test rom.
Thanks its. Bummer:-( I guess I'll have to shelve the 4GB card until someone figures out a fix for this. It sucks:-((((
so for someone in the market for a 4GB card, would you people suggest miniSD or miniSDHC?
Based on my personal experience I definitely wouldn't recommend a SDHC one for the Trinity right now.
Of course the problems with directories appearing empty and the need to reset etc. could be fixed in a later release; but right now, no.
but this doesn't happen with 4GB miniSD also?
No; I have a 4GB FAT32 formatted miniSD from Moby Memory, and this one has been working for about a month without any problems.
Just be aware that it is quite slow compared to say a 2GB Sandisk Ultra.
I guess I am confused a bit here. My Transcend 4GB card arrived as SDHC, and had the disconnect problems in the Trinity (if the Trinity goes to sleep, upon its waking up, the card does not reconnect and it, and all applications and databases residing on it, appear to be missing, until it's taken out and placed back in, or until a restart.)
I formatted the card to FAT32, once in a Casio Exilim camera (USB 2, great to use as a fast card reader and once with Resco. Neither had any effect on the disconnect problem.
Is SDHC a different medium, or a formatting scheme, and if a different medium, why am I able to format it as FAT32, and have it still show as 4GB?
The 4GB card itself is working great in two cameras, so I don't think the problem is with it, but rather with the ability of the Trinity beta ROM to handle it. Hopefully HTC will fix it in the final ROM, or someone more knowledgeable than me will come up with a solution.
In the meantime, I've gone back to a 2GB card, which works just fine, but it is way too small to hold all the stuff I need it to hold.
SDHC has a different internal protocol, a different microcontroller AFAIK. No different format (format just follows the normal "mass storage" guidelines) or real hardware (in the sense of using different kind of transistors or something).
Why wouldn't it be formated as FAT32 and show as 4GB?

Yes, SDHC is different. It follows the SDA 2.0 standard and uses a different adressing method than SDA 1.0/1.1
Have look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1083860&highlight=sdhc#post1083860
O.K., thanks. I think I get it, sort of.
Would it matter at all to stability, if the 4GB SDHC card is formatted FAT or FAT 32, or any other parameters are changed?
I guess I am puzzled at what might be the causing the post-sleep "disappearing files/card" problem. It seems like a software glitch, and I am wondering if a different formatting scheme might help?

It works! I went to the local camera shop and inserted my Transcend 4gb miniSD card and formatted it. Now my Trinity can read it again. I'm going to stick with my TopRam normal 4gb until this file dropping issue is solved.
I've formatted my card in camera abd this helps. But this card doesn't work for trinty anyway
I have searched on here and read the various threads on SDHC cards and I am still none the wiser
In the Wizard Accessories forum there is a 5-page thread about users experiences with what does and doesn't work - the problem is there is contradicting information. I thought I was getting somewhere with later units supporting SDHC and earlier ones not (serial numbers), however half way through the thread someone with an older Wizard says they have it working.....
Are there any difinitive answers to whether 4GB SDHC cards work in the Wizard, and if so does it need to be a G4, does it need to be manufactured after a certain date etc?
I have two Wizards (s/n: SZ602EE0xxxx and HT544EExxxx), both currently with 1GB SD cards (Danelec I think?). I am reluctant to buy any 4GB cards unless I know they are going to work.
Thanks

ok to clarify this, (im going to get flame at least once for this) SDHC cards will only work with devices that have the drivers for SDHC cards. This does not have to do with the hardware but if we cant get the drivers to talk to the hardware there is no support. we have the right hardware but no drivers and if it was a hardware problem then SDHC cards would not be the same as a SD card.
And can someone test that rom (not hopping it works but it might)

I've got a 4gb SDHC card sitting here, and the latest TNT release (1921 base). Obviously, it does not currently work. Let me know what I need to do to try!

The first page of theloon 7.2 ROM kitchen shows it working. I run this ROM, but I dont have a SDHC yet. I'll post there to see if anyone has had success.
Resurect this thread....
I am desperately running out of SD card space and would like to now 'upgrade' to a 4GB (or bigger?) SDHC card. I would like some testemonials of users who have had sucess with SDHC cards and what Wizard version and ROM you are running.
As I said I am reluctant to just buy a SDHC card and see if it works as it will be a waste of money if it doesn't.

count me in
just bought a 2gb sd card for 25€ over here but i need more space ^^
transcend sells the fastest sd mini cards as far as i tested them..
from hardware point of view the wizard device can handle this SDHC cards
as they use the same slot and hardware a usb cardreader has..
its just a matter of drivers or maybe just a registrysetting..
my guess its a combination of a new driver with enhancements for SDHC
and some registrysettings...
knowing windows they probably allready implented it in OS at least in WM6
and it be just a question of finding the right driver with the right settings..
my 4gig sdhc is coming in early next week, then I can test..
keep us informed on how it works please .. if it works that is ^^
Read this! It is only a matter of drivers and reg settings. Someone has created a cab with appropriate drivers and reg entries for testing somewhere on the xda forum.

So you can confirm this works? That's all I want. There are LOTS of varying reports on SDHC cards working & not working. I don't want to buy one and then realise it doesn't work. It's all right posting drivers and links to MS updates but that doesn't confirm anything. I want hard evidence.....

I tried it and it doesn't work.
• Support for Video over IP telephony calls
• Support for the Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM) and ActiveSync in the VoIP Home Screen and VoIP Contacts applications
• Secure Digital (SD) bus driver that supports SDHC specification 2.00 functionality, such as Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) cards
Support for Extended File Allocation Table (ExFAT) and FAT32 on the x86 BIOS Loader, which provides access beyond 2 gigabytes (GB) of hard disk space.
this is probably the issue with ur 4gb card..
the bios of the wizard wont be able to acces beyond 2gb
but...
now that you have this 4gb card can you do us all a favor ?
here is the thing:
if u have a cardreader that reads the card on the pc just put it in the pc
otherwise put it in the wizard and start wm5torage and connect it as a
non-removable class and write enabled and start the thing and connect it to pc..
when connected goto computer and right click My Computer and choose manage.. in that window goto Disk Managment ..
in there you see this drive which is on the sd card, its shown as a drive
rightclick on the part next to it where it shows the volume on the drive
(it says Healty when correct and the driveletter it got assigned)
choose delete partition
now u have a empty flashdisk
format it in fat16 but.. :-> dont give it a name and set it to 2gb and do not assign a driveletter
now there is a space left of <1gb
format this too fat16 no name, no drive letter, no other stuff but plain format
now if all is correct and these two drives are there you can disconnect it.
unplug the cardreader (with the remove hardwarebutton in systray)
or if u got it in your wizard , shut down pc and take wizard out after it shut down
then release the wm5torage driver and close it and remove card and insert it
back again..
u can check for errors with pocket mechanic professional..
little warning though : do not do this with non branded fake 4gb cards as it
renders it useless probably..( these cards that are 2gb and reformated to hold 4gb)

Thanks for highlighting my point - some Wizard owners say they work, others say they don't. Even though it's only about UK £20, it's still wasted money if it doesn't work.....

it will work if someone can port wm6 r2 to the wizard
and i had it work with a 4gb sd mini card which wasnt SDHC
the site i bought it doesnt have them anymore ..
it seems it is an "out of specs" sd card hence there not sold here,
but maybe we can find a store that has these cards..
one more thought is that it maybe read the SDHC card as well if we
keep its volume space to a max of 2gb..
multiple volumes on a storage card works fine on a t-mobile stock rom
not tried it on others..
nevertheless ur right about the part that no-one is willing to buy something that doesnt work hence we need to test and try...
or as i would say :
Plug 'n Pray ©
guys, just wait until Monday or Tuesday, you will get a full report
let's start a poll, which ROM should be used for testing
