Hello!
Below is the today-screen(also said sliding panel homescreen) display of the actual WM 6.1 on Vox.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fezBXRE5AuI&feature=related
Though it was officially released yesterday as it was supposed to be released in Feb.
Can anybody initiate making a Trinity ROM based on it.
I like how that looks. I like the today plug ins.
It is really beautiful.....Why don't we have that with our WM 6.1 Custom ROMS ? Would like to see it on my Touch Dual too
it's smartphone version. there are no panels in wm professional.
Just one word.....WOW. Its amazing.

okay.....thanks for the answer
if you check the startrek forum they have actually had the 6.1. for a bit. And they managed to flash 6.1 Pro to a smartphone!
startrek FTW!
next week I will have one to play with for a while.
It's such a shame that the panels aren't available in the professional roms, they realy seem like they work well and of course, it looks nice!
Got a review from PocketNow
man the standard version just looks a million times better than the pro version
Just as the title says. As Microsoft has just release Windows Mobile 6.5 is there any hope that we will get the improved UI to the Polaris?
May HTC even step up to the task themselves? They released 6.0 for a lot of 5.0 phones...
Or are there still cooks active on doing Polaris roms?
probably...yes...

Thanx for replying
Wow, the wm 6.5 looks very great for the moment!
I'm intrested in your advance!
fantastic!! i hope it will come soon!!!
feels normal...bit faster in some areas (scrolling)...slower in others(startmenu-the honeycomb-due to drivers as far as i've tested)...but overall its good...if you consider its a leak from chinese beta and seems to be incomplete...
i'm waiting for a better leak wm6.5, for now just finding how new things work and making them better (its gonna be goodbye honeycomb menu for me, at least this one, way slow for me )...

I really do not know what the strategy is with launching 2 WM versions in such a short span of time. May be MS was just paranoid of losing market share to iPhone and Google - so it launched a band-aid solution until WM7 is launched?
Any attempt at 6.5 now is mainly for some chef to try and be all cool and be the first one to come out with 6.5 rom. I've tried it, and see no point in releasing something like this as it's buggy (beta) and in all truthfulness, 6.1 w/tf2d is better than 6.5 homescreen. The whole honeycomb screen is quite a waste of screenspace as well. It's all quite the gimick to me, and people would probably end up going back to another rom after a week of using a 6.5 beta rom anyways. The only good thing about 6.5 is the revamped IE.

being the first isn't all that bad i think...would you have some of the things you have now if someone didn't take the 1st step? think not!
yes, you are right, releasing such a rom is still very early, some have, and thanks to them people Now can taste a bit of the Future (some forget its very beta, so lots of bugs)...
i have to desagree, sorry , when you say...only good thing about 6.5 is IE...i would say more...who needs IE? haven't used it since i've had my device...opera or any other good browser (opera mini) is the way to go...
pc experience tells us so
now here are some of my findings...
the new homescreen has lots of potencial...its light and fast...got all the info one needs and only 45% of 101MB of RAM is used...plus it will be customizable (till its limit)...
there is more speed in the wm6.5 rom...or lets say less lagging in some areas...scrolls faster, i see that when i scroll my 4gb memory card using standard explorer...had to disable touchflo cause it was slowing the device down...
skinning of controls will bring a very nice add to customization...i personaly like that...plus they are more thumb friendly...
honeycomb wastes space "as is" but i have already rearranged it in multiple ways (X:Y; 4:Y; 1:Y just to name a few), i dont like it much but its okay...
only major problem here is its current speed that i hope will be better in final release...
its seems a good step ahead...one good thing...i haven't had that "oh, this is so slow" phrase yet as the (programs folder) is not there anymore...so no more laggy icon update...that is always nice...i have a nice fix for that (youtube) but now i will not put it out since 6.5 is comming so its delayed till further notice
there is also a very nice lockscreen too...
lets just see where this goes...
keep up the good work...

Punishment for bringing out an Android phone?
Sorry, didn't see your posts above that you were releasing a 6.5 rom. Hopefully with tweaks by someone knowledgable, the beta will be closer to decent. And you make good points that maybe more than just IE is good, but I'd still rather wait to base a rom on official 6.5

cheers
humble begger....
will you be letting the hd rom go in the days to come pcarvalho ?
will htc hd get windows mobile 6.5 officially or not please who know any information even if he wasn't sure tell me
There is no information about that, in official information from MS is only three devices at the moment, see http://db.msmobiles.com/Lists/p/windows-mobile-6.5-upgradeable.aspx, but HD is not listed...
I thought that htc officially said that they will not upgrade any phones either released before some date or before the touchpro2/diamond2. Either way, I believe they said that no official 6.5 for htc HD. (I think this was either during CES or GSMA....or some other large congress). Either way, I remember at the same time that they announced that there were already cooked ROMs of wm6.5, which doesn't get released till the summer...lol, that's just how good xda is.
(PS, wm6.5 doesn't impress much, seems like just a filler before 7 comes out. Looks like it got pushed back so they wanted to relase something quick...and hence 6.5)
and take all of the above with a grain of salt
There are some THD users with WM6.5 already. Anyone care toshare with me where to download that?

Exactly two years after the last post my friend, just in case you didn't notice
Will the Xperia be compatible with WM7 when it comes out?
Simple short question, but i am anxious to know.
Short answwer? Nobody knows, but probabl will be ported. Certainly not be official upgrade, but if they are able to put Linux on Experia, just couse it uses same processor arhitecture, that i am 99% sure they will port Windows 7 as well.
It is becomming more prety much like on desktop you can put Windows 7 on computer that came with Vista preinstaled right?
Windows Mobile 7 isn't the same thing a Windows Mobile 7. I am quite sure a version of WinMo7 will come out for the XPERIA when a beta version is available. There isn't a lot of new features in WinMo7 that I know of so for now I will use 6.1.

Wow, not a lot of new features? Have you seen the screens???
So I take back that statement. Screens look awesome.
Those pictures aren't official. Why are you guys making assumptions?
Well you can be sure WInMo 7 will have EVERYTHING rewritten. Every menu, SMS sending everything, no more ugly menus, so it is not that much abaut features iPhone has less of them for example. But if you will be moving through setting or stuff anywhere you won't see one single resemblance to WInMo 6. It will be like TF3D would be made to completly remove any WInMo 6 stuff there is, just different, so WinMo 7 is bringing buty to Windows Mobile, somthing that has been neglected from winmo 1 to 6. And a little tweaked for 6.5.

Because that all we know is that they are leaked pictures so we assume that this is WinMo7, for at least a bit. Can anyone guess the system specs?

seriously you want people to guess?

We should be going fowards...
not backwards
believe me you DONT want wm on your hero......
There I was, thinking that I made a giant leap here and not a step backwards hehe. WM, no thanks
As good as windows mobile is, I got the Hero because of Android,
Why don't you just get the HTC Diamond 2, same screen size, smaller form factor, and the option to upgrade to WM 6.5
Would'n it be nice to have the option to switch back and forth from Android to WM?
I'm about to get my Hero in a few days, but just based on curiosity.
I moved back to Htc (Trinity and then HD) after a brief "affair" with an i-phone, I'm curious to seee if HTC got to overcome the MANY i-phone shortcommings.
Sure! new i-phones should be doing better, but the "all-and-only-finger world" of capacitive touchscreens is not ideal for everyone fingers....
Just my opinion.
Regards.
My English is very bad, I´m from Spain, sorry guys.
I like try how work two proccessors in WM 6.5, how plays video DIVX with 192 mb ram, if TOMTOM is quickly... and then, install Android again. And think if Hero´s hardware was built only for Android, or HTC keep a card, for WM 6.5.
Imaginate that Android not success, ¿What will do HTC with the terminals?
It´s only for investigate. no more. Thanks.

Then it would be an HTC problem and being so, it will be quickly solved.
A different issue is when we, users, are left in the dark...... HTC has proved not to be very responsive, nor MS itself, so you better bet Android will live a long life....
I need to put windows 6.5 on my hero to install work programme
this would also help me massively

There you have your first problem, since wm 6.1 is totally NOT finger friendly, the hero does have a captive touchscreen, making it useless with a stylus and thus with wm 6.1.
6.5 should be more finger friendly so that one may work on your hero, If you look at the hardware only the hero is almost the same as the diamond 2 so yes you are able to run 6.5 on your hero. Just wait until someone makes a rom with it.
Nut as you surely have noticed, most of the people buy a hero because the android system. So I don't think someone's gonna make it... soon

Buy a Touch Diamond 2, chances to get an Android ROM for TD2 seems to be higher than a WM ROM for Hero ...

Yes, I do agree with your opinion, it's "common sense", but still, with the kind of processing power we have -literally- in our hands, it should be nice to have "options", as we do have in the "PC world", so as to be able to try more than one OS, while retaining the design and form factor features we all value at purchasing time.
And yes, touch screens experience is so dependant on the interface, that it makes your point as to 6.1 not being suitable for fingers.
Stilll looking for my "perfect" pda-phone ;-)
