Led indicators - Wing, P4350 General

Hi everybody,
I am following xda developers a couple of weeks, and I saw that wonderful people came together in a spectacular site I have learned many things from you, thank you.
I own a Herald (I guess ) and trying to learn cooking my own ROM and I am still a beginner, rookie, junior whatever you call There is one thing I want to learn how can we control the LEDs of Herald. I mean I want to use i.e. the wifi LED as a SDCard read/write indicator like pc's hdd indicators, or the orange one for the internal storage access indicator. I searched everywhere found a couple of software like nueled, aksoft's LED Control etc. Any of them worked also I found the Allledmgr.dll tried with it and nothing. So is there a way to control these LEDs?
Thanks.

You can get LED activity using WM5torage.
It is just a simple check box. Of course the is only when you are using your phone as USB storage for your PC.

I see, thank you so much for your help neiltoe

Dead XDA

A realy surreal thing happened and my machine reset itself 96% into doing an upgrade to the latest rom. I have done this upgrade twice before with no prob (many thanks for a great rom and all the work involved writing and modifying it). Now the xda shows the upload screen at 0% with slight corruption on the display and I cant get it to poll for active sync to find it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Use the bootloader method. This requires a Windows NT/2000/XP PC and an SD-card reader/writer.
DEAD XDA
Many thanks for your reply, What unbelievable support from a non profit forum/individual.
I will try it tonight and keep you posted.
Last thing is the power switch on the XDA, it`s faulty, do you know if its just a two pin switch arrangement with two sets ganged together. If so can I assume that its the top set connecting to the bottom set for the power on pulse ?
Once again thanks for the excelent support.

Not a clue what the power-switch setup is. Haven't ever seen info regarding that, so please investigate and post your findings here...
N.P
I know its a daft question but,
Im having trouble writing to my sd card to update the rom image, Has anyone got an old image that I can upload first, that is already with the right extensions for the upload.
While your thinking about that one i`ll sort out the switch and keep you posted.
Many thanks.
Leonard at PPC Techs just replaced the power switch on mine, the pin portion had broken off. He might be willing to tell you the pin arrangement, or could replace it for you. He charged $45 for the job.
The switch arrangement seems to be far more complicated than my first thoughts suggested, and now one of the pads has lifted making it almost impossible to enter bootloader mode. I am still looking into it with the rework station warming up as I speak, I am hopeing that tenacity and now pure bloody mindedness will prevail and I will get to the bottom of it.
Anyone know where I could get a circuit diagram for the little bugger ? (Not a block diag)
Many thanks BORIS.

XDA-developer press-release. For immediate release.
Eternal gratitude of an entire community, a life-time supply of drugs, a suitcase full of dollars and 72 virgins on E await the HTC employee that liberates the contents of the PW10 development directory. The same goes for the TI-Berlin employee that liberates the source to the modem part. Daring Microsoft employees that have access to specific Phone-Edition sources are also eligible for interesting rewards. Ask on this forum for details.

Pointers required for removing slow O2 software (please!)

Hi guys, great forum.
I must admit to being rather nieve and lost in all the technical stuff! Im a newbie to the XDA world, and so far Im loving it!
I bought my O2 XDA mini s on ebay, at just over 2 months old. Its in perfect condition, but when I try to remove the O2 software, it's not on the list... but its definately still on there!
Should I let my battery run out and reboot it?
Also it wont link with the outlook on my pc (installed from the cd) so it looks like its gonna take me 3 weeks of typing to put all my contacts in to it!
Can someone point me in the right direction for a thread? Or is there a good site for newbies to look at in layman's terms?
Any help would be extremely well recieved!
Cheers
Hi Gary
sorry mate can't help but noticed your post had no answer. Like you I am not a techie. Most of the posters on here seem to do nothing but experiment with their XDA's all day There is a wealh of info and help but sadly only useful to other techies.
There doesn't appear to be anything geared at assisting casual users and non techies that have neither the time or inclination to fiddle with ROM's and software etc .
I reckon that would be a useful sticky for noobs- like how to change/ customise the desktop and install various A/V software and remove o2 software etc
Suggest you get the full manual and wade through that.
I bought my o2 mini s at xmas and haven't made a single call on it yet . Its far too complicated for me and working 12 hour days I've no time to play about with it.
I'm no techy either but I do know that if you do a hard reset and choose corporate install the O2 stuff is not installed. There's some good advice here too - it's maybe a bit less technical than this site.

Cheers for the replys Dave and Peanut.
I managed to find something useful here... http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287641
if theres anyone else thats confused about this stuff.
I'm really happy with mine, on the whole it seems pretty simple to use. I hate that it doesnt close programmes when you click the x though.
Im gonna have a little play, but I'll need to get my mms and gprs info from orange first if i install the corporate profile.
I find that if the phone is on for more than 5 mins ifI press the green call button it doesnt bring up the phone screen, even with the normal power setting! I'm hoping this new profile will speed the bad boy up a bit too!
WiFi is a godsend on a mobile! Yey!
Without going through all the palava of flashing a new Rom the easiest way of really removing the O2 crud is to do a Hard Reset of the device (hold the Com Manager and Voice Command buttons the poke the little reset hole on the right hand side of the unit.
When you get the option select corporate installation option and then if I remember correctly you get a count down, press the reset button (without the other two buttons) again briefly to do a soft reset this should then start Windows in its regular non O2 sullied form.
Hope this helped.

Disabling the annoying green-phone-light

Hi there y'all,
my xda neo / Prophet is always blinking green while he has got an telephone-connection with my provider and i hate that blinkin light, especially in my bedroom.
Has anyone got an idea how to disable this? Is there any possibility via Registry?
Thanks for any help!
a piece of black tape perhaps?
Try
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr\Index
change the value to 0

I used LED Toggle which I attached. It works fine.
You do have to watch out though: disconnect your phone from power or your computer before you activate it. Using it once stops the light and using it again turns it back on.
It looks like the effect is gone after a softreset.
And another thing: some hours after using it my phone didn't respond at all for a few minutes. The only solution was a soft reset. This has happened several times now and when I keep the light on it seems to be working normal again. I don't know if it's just my Prophet but if you encounter the same problem we know where it's coming from.

Thanks Jay, your little program works perfect. I'll see if i'll get the same problem and report it here
niketkumar, thanks for your help. I first try Jays Software, if i get the same problems i'll use your registry hack.
Thanks to both of you from my girlfriend, too - cause now it's less greener in our bedroom
So? Any news?
I stopped using the software and my phone hasn't crashed once. How's yours behaving?
Had the exact same problem, when using LED Toggle my device occasionally hangs. Since I stopped using it everything works just fine..
Man, that just sucks. I was so happy to be rid of that stupid light.
Now about that registry hack. I can find everything up to "\builtin" but the rest (AllLEDMgr\Index) doesn't exist. Do I have to create a new folder with an index file which has the value set to 0 or what?
Don't remember if I've tried the registry hack mentioned above, but I followed the thread about this issue in Modaco and tried numerous registry hacks before ending up with the only solution (that I'm aware of) that currently seems to work.
Which, unfortunately is the LED Toggle attached above, which in hand makes your device quite unstable..
So, back to the drawing board guys - hope someone finds a solution!
Just checked the corresponding thread on Modaco (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=243948&st=0) and indeed this solution is not working flawlessly on our beloved Prophets..
Why not just place it face down on your dresser at night?
this has to be one of the dumbest hack request on the site!!! do as blunt man said and put it face down if it's that annoying!

this has to be one of the dumbest comments i ever got in an professionals-board.
Jayxz, any of the workarounds i found generated problems so i just painted the light black. Not really the best solution but it sucked so badly
I find the green light annoying too, but i'd still like to have the orange warning when i received a msg or missed a call....
I hope that somebody could find a working solution for this
You can try the attached File i found at the MoDaCo Forum.
It works on my Prophet but some Users told that it drains the Battery

enabling led blinking
Hi to All,
my HTC TYTN II always blinking green while he has got on phone-connection with my provider, and i love that. But now i have xperia and...no blinking on phone connection. It is possible to made it blinking when phone connection with provider is on

New to the whole scene, getting started

I have just aquired an xda ii from a friend and am very eager to get started but I have no clu eon what exactly I need to do.
First off I have read the FAQ's and what not and understand what everything seems to do.
However I beleive my xda is locked as when I try to put in my 3 sim card, it just says invalid sim or not recognized. Searching around the forums I have located the various unlocking tools but am not sure which one to go for. Also is there even any chance of it working with my 3 sim card?
Secondly, do I need to upgrade anything with it? Ideally what I want is to run tom tom navigation on it aswell as all the others features of the xda. (Im still searching around on how I check my version exactly >.<)
Thirdly, there appears to be a problem with the sound. Sometimes it beeps and such as normal, other times it dosent. Is there anywhere that can repair these sort of faults?
Thank you in advance for the time!
EDIT:
After playing around I found the information
ROM Version - 1.72.00WWE
ROM date - 03.15.04
Radio version 1.17.00
Protocol version 1337.28
ExtROM version 1.72.181
Is there anything I can upgrade it too? Or worth doing?
"However I beleive my xda is locked as when I try to put in my 3 sim card"
recall 3 blocking their very simcards to be able to work in no 3g phones
so it's likely that it's not your phone which is locked
you can upgrade it to wm5 if you like

Ah I see now, thank you.
I will just get another sim no problem.
I am interested in going up to wm5 but have a few more questions.
I see there are many different ROM versions, any particular one to go for? Will I still be able to use the camera & phone part? And also is there anyway to keep the ROM I have now and restore if anything nasty happens?

I have a himalaya just like yours, I've upgrade to a lot of ROMs here in the forum, and currently, I decided to go to helmi AKU3.5 SP2. But this ROM lacks of software you will be needing most. But as helmi said, you can install softwares as you like, and i bet this is really fast. You can also try C_Shekhar's Rom, it has softwares built on it. But helmi's ROM is faster. you can also adjust your 15mb storage to 30mb storage so you can install more software you like. Unlike WM2003, it uses RAMdisk for the installation of your softwares and it uses 128mb. At first you will be having hard time to understand the flow, but you of course you can learn from it.
Nweiz, what country are you from?
Okay so all I got to do is install this rom, and go searching for the software to pwoer the phone, camera, etc?
Is there anyway to backup / restore my current ROM and all the other parts I should need incase the worst happens?
I only just got this and I really dont want to break it because I have wanted one for ages
"phone, camera"
is a part of the rom
Brilliant! Looks like things should be alot easier than I thought.
Still playing around, I found my bootloader version is 1.03, does this matter much?
And I have found some backup tools by searching through the wiki pages, but they dont seem to work for my smart phone?
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=62
Big help! Thanks!
Okay looks like im all set, back this up. Download the rom, install.
Hopefully all should go as planned.
Just one small little off topic thing, I noticed the problem with my sound is that when its in the cradle, all sounds work. However when it is out the cradle, sounds are intermittant. Software or hardware fault would anyone say?
Okay upgrade went without a problem and its now running fine.
However the only problem I noticed is that it does not detect the backup battery, im guessing this means the battery needs replacing?
I literally just noticed a problem with the charge socket too, looks like the pins on the right are slightly bent yet it still fits and charges.
Could this explain the sound issues? As when its in the cradle and on charge it works fine.

man, i think its bcoz wm5 is designed for not using the back up battery. Bcoz wm5 uses storage for installation of your application (default), and even if the battery drains, it will not hard reset. i guess.

Indicator Light Question

I used to own a Hermes about a year ago and since have parted ways with it and used a few different phones, but now with the cost so low I'm looking at getting another one to have around and I'm collecting cabs for the occasion. Theres one thing I can not remember though, does the indicator light flash on the phone flash when you have a new notification or is there a 3rd party cab required for that? Thanks in advance.
