PocketShield

I ran across this, not exactly sure where, but it's sick man:
http://pocketshield.netserver01.com/
It should be perfectly compatible with the HD because it does indeed have an ambient light sensor and obviously an accelerometer.
Check out the videos:
http://pocketshield.netserver01.com/demo.aspx
It's pretty damn nice.
I think it will make a great add-on to a beautiful phone, it does cost $10.90, but as far as I can tell it's well worth it.
Give it look!
On the Touch HD you now have to slide to pick up the phone. So I really don't see why we should use this app. It will be handy for the Diamond or Pro.

But what about announcements? Fpr example SMS alert, notification alert etc.. Do you have to slide also to unlock the Device in those cases?
Hi!
I'm still struggeling to find the right way to lock the phone. The ideal solution would be to:
1) Have the phone unlocked when I switch it on with the Power button (so that I can immediately use it after deliberately turning it on)
2) Have the phone automatically locked when it wakes up due to a phone call, SMS or warning, etc. (so that I don't press anything by accident when it is in my pocket).
This seems to be the only really logical way to use device lock. Obviously, PocketShield can not do that, neither can S2Us or any other locking app I've tried...
Regards!
I had it installed, but removed it quite quickly again. For some reason, it did not suit me. I did not see any use of the lightsensor and shaking it to unlock was impossible...
All it added for me was a slide to unlock, for which there are other progs. It also replaceed the default slide to anwser, without enabling it myself...
I am sticking with the default lock or the s2u prog...

As a matter of interest, where in the manual is that documented.
I tried a search but could not find it.
Beards
Try this for locking the Phone correctly.....

Idea: Clicking sound when typing on the keyboard or other apps?

I don't know if you guys saw how the Blackberry Storm when you click the keyboard it makes clicking sounds to enable the fact that you clicked each button. I was wondering if something like this is available for our diamond. Never really considered this as a option but after I saw it in use its actually pretty cool.
Thanks

Hehe thanks should have kown better been using win mobile for like 3 years. Oooh well thanks.
Except that enabling the screen tap sound is universal for anytime the screen is touched, which is horribly annoying when panning and scrolling. I would love to see an option where the SIPs (including the dialpad) are modified to click (and preferably vibrate) whenever a soft key is pressed, but not for anything else.

Exactly.
Universal clicking is so annoying and useless.
I second this request!
Hi Keyboard always had typing sounds, and I've gotten used to it.
That's the only thing missing from the great HTC keyboards...
Haptic feedback...
Someone here at XDA is already working on something like this. It's in its very early stages, but sounds like it may be what you're looking for.
Take a look here.
Hope this helps.

Looking for audible clicking, not vibration. The same result as "enable screen taps" but with the application control of this guy's vibrate program. That would be ideal.
Some 3rd party keyboards have an option to turn on clicking sounds.
TouchPal definitely does and it's also the best keyboard I've used.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm in love with the tiny, stylus-necessary "keyboard" layout on my Diamond.
Surely there is a simple reg hack for this?

TouchPal has 3 layouts including full qwerty and it works better than the HTC one, smarter T9, etc.
Otherwise, I'm sure it would be very easy to modify the vibrate software mentioned above so that it makes noise. Worth asking for help from the author.

[Q] Keyboard Click Sound

Is a soft keyboard out there that click when you type a key, like the iPhone?
or
Is there a way to make the HTC keyboard do that?
I believe this would make typing much easier on the HD, just like the iPhone
I know people are working on haptic feedback, but I'm just not a fan of vibrate on every tap
Try SPB full screen keyboard. It has keyboard taps, skins, landscape mode et all.
thank you for your suggestion
i did try it, but i'm not completely happy with it, so i don't see myself paying for it
i just ended up enabling screen tap notifications
(in settings > sounds and notifications)
it does make a sound every time i touch the screen,
but i think it's worth it to have the keyboard 'click'
not a perfect solution, but may be someone else is curious

Try fingerkeyboard 2. Easy to use with a clicking noise after every push of the button.
I second FingerKeyboard2 much much better than the original keyboard. Typing is now a real joy and so much quicker.
Nice clicking sound too.
I tryed your suggestion and now I'm a happy user of FingerKeyboard2. Thanks!

hd or td2?

hi all,
i would like to ask hd users if it has a haptic feedback or if it vibrates whenever i touch the screen. is it built in? i am thinking of getting either the td2 or hd.
thanks everyone!
It does, but not for every touch you make, only for certain buttons etc.
I've only had a quick go on a Touch Diamond 2, but it felt pretty similar to the HD with a Topaz based ROM installed to me. From what I've seen though the TD2 has been faster than the HD in many benchmarks so if you don't mind the slightly smaller screen then the TD2 might be a better option in the long run, especially with official WM6.5 updates.
true. so if i text using hd it does not vibrate when i press the keys when i text? problem is it is still not available in our country. and i am really eager in getting a new device this weekend! plus the 3.5mm jack cant be ignored. the thing i hate the most with td2 is its back cover which gets scratched easily.
The HD vibrates when you type on the keyboard. Or not. It's up to you since it's a setting of the HTC keyboard.

You can install a free app called TouchResponse which I've attached for your convienience which makes every touch you make vibrate on the HD. Once installed go into its settings and activate it for vibrate response

Go to Settings, Personal, Input and click the Options button (not the options tab).
You've got an option there to 'Vibrate when keys are pressed'.

[Q] Want Keyboard sounds on, dialpad sound off

I have searched this question, but haven't found an answer yet.
I would like to have the phone dialpad sounds disabled, but have the Swype keyboard sounds enabled. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks!
settings/sound & display/untick "audible touch tones"
good day.
Tried..
Thanks for your feedback. I unselected "Audible touch tones" and it silences the phone keypad, but unfortunately also silences the Swype keyboard presses.
Aha. I had to unfreeze swype to see what you were talking. I see what you are saying and thats quite a dilemma. Yes with that selection off it grays out the sound selection in swype but yet with the android keyboard or touch pal you have the option of on or off with the touch tones disabled. Swype was too much for me and thats why I had it frozen in titanium. After years of winmo and using Touch Pal I can type like a mad man on that thing. Hope someone else strolls by to shed some light on your issue.
good day.
Thanks
Thanks for your feedback and thoughts.
