How can I increase the number of phone rings during an incoming call?
I just feel that 3 rings is sometimes too short to grab your phone, open it up, and decide if you are going to answer it or not.
call your phone company, they can do it for you immediately over the phone. some have a keypad phone combination that you can use, but they vary, call the phone company make them work for the money
Try this: Settings/phone/services. If you have "call forwarding" as an option then click on that and set the time before the call is forwarded to your voicemail
Thanks guys. I'll try it right now.
I tried it under settings. The longest phone ring they have is 30 seconds. I think it it too short, so I guess I'll give them a call.
I called Cingular (USA) customer support. Sadly the longest they can offer is 30 seconds. The only way I could think of is to disable my voicemail, and that should make my EXEC ring a lot longer. But can't, I need my voicemail.
Is there any sort of log stored on the G1 that records why a call was dropped? I'm having a really bad issue with my G1 dropping calls, but it only happens in my apartment... I have 5 bars, 3G Signal, can hear the person on the other end very clearly and then I hear the dropped call tone and the call disconnects. This will happen within 30 seconds of an incoming or outgoing call being connected and will happen multiple times. I called T-Mobile and they opened a request to have someone look to see if it is an issue on the cell tower.
Mine just skips ringing altogether. Rings 4-5 times for the caller, and then to voicemail. I dont know they called until I get a missed call alert.
Just one more thing to "leave to the programmers" I guess LMFAO
same issue.
i have a lot of dropped calls with the lady. she has att so maybe thats the issue since sending mms to att is like prying out teeth. can receive but cannot send
hbguy
any solution to this ?
go back to your old phone until the next "update" comes out Thats what I have been doing Sucks having a phone that does cool stuff...except actually working as a phone
no matter what ringtones i use they only ring for 17 seconds is there a setting or way to alter this.
and how can i silence an incoming call. id like the option to answer the call or press a silence button so the other caller still
thinks the call is ringing and that the call has not just been rejected.
thanks

Sounds like your calls get diverted to voicemail after 20 seconds (takes approx 3 seconds for the phone to ring on an incomming call). Setting your divert can be network dependant, but if you go into phone settings, there is an option called "divert" which yoy can change. Be warned - if on vodafone or other similar networks, the network handles the call diversion. However if you change this, you may be charged for the phone diverting calls to voice mail.
To mute the phone on incomming call, simply turn the phone face down on the desk. This should mute the ringer. If this does not work, you need to install HD Tweek or similar to set this option.
yes mate your right my phone does get divertd to voicemail but i was getting 29 seconds i think it was on my nokia n95 when that was set to divert. on orange you cant set divert on or of by the phone you have to ring the network but cancel divert.
as for the silence calls on flip if i have the phone in my pocket and someone calls the flip does not work as i have no surface to lay it flt on i just tried it .
so if anyone else has no solution the only thing i can think of is
1 cancel call divert with my network and hope there is a third party software that can manage my voice mail . any recommendations ?
2 any recommendations of any software to silence calls by press of a button ?
thanks
ok i managed to get the ringtone to ring longer before it goes to voicemail .
the settings for that are acually in the phone ardsar says but how can i get the
phone to silince callls without turning the phone over .
im looking for a press of a button method.

Press one of the volume buttons when your phone is ringing
blimey so easy eh when you know how .

or you can dial this number

My carrier is ROGERS in Canada.
Some of us were having this problem for Rogers/Fido.
I tested this two times and IT IS THE PROBLEM (for me)
Call your carrier and ask them to TURN OFF NAME DISPLAY (leave caller id on, if name display did not work for your country then turn off caller id to test. In Canada Rogers allows both options separately).
This is how I found this problem.
I had 2.2 (V20G) problems with caller id or name showing as payphone.
I asked them to turn OFF name display. My 2.2 phone worked fine for months after that, no more payphone caller ids.
TODAY
I now have 2.3gb running and I made 4 calls just BEFORE I called Rogers to turn back on name display.
They turned it on and my phone would NOT ANSWER calls. The 3g/HS symbol would turn into a circle with 2 arrows and the call signal bars would turn off. On my land line the phone rings 2 times and hangs up.
I had Rogers turn OFF name display while on my land line and had the tech call me and it worked RIGHT AWAY without a REBOOT but I also rebooted to test and it WORKED.
Now you all owe me $5
I recently disabled voicemail on my TMobile phone because I found out the hard way that Tmobile charges for voicemails that you receive while on international roaming, even if you don't pick up the phone.
The only problem now is that my phone will ring forever because there's no voicemail to forward to, unless I manually decline every call.
Is there a way to have the phone automatically do this after a certain amount of rings?
