Hello everyone..
I'm a newbie, i just bought my prophet (xda neo) but havent laid my hands on it yet...(waiting for delivery)
I have a question, what happens if i do connect an external HD via an usb to IDE interface to the mini usb port of the prophet?
(the hd is autonomously powered.. )
Will i be able to read and write to the hd??
Thanks!
A.
Most probably nothing will happen...
Windows XP, or earlier versions, can recognize the hd only because they have preinstalled drivers in their system. PPC's are unlikely to have such support built in, and I have not heard anyone using this.
Why would you need it?
You could always connect your hd to your pc, and connect to it through setting up a network folder over wifi to it. That way you could read/write on it.
Cheers.
'USB Host' is not supported on the Prophet, i.e. it cannot host USB devices such as HDD, card reader, etc.
Hi forum,
Simple Question:
Is it possible to get the wizard (QTek 9100) act as an USB host to get access to external USB devices (HDD, MemoryStick, Digicam, etc) or is the needed hardware physically unavailable?
Sample USB Mass Storage Driver (not yet tried):

Does someone know the details?

btw. this board really kicks ass - keep on
no, hardware limitation to slave.
hey guys just wanted to know that is it possible to connect external harddisk or a pendrive to universal ( exec ) ? i want to connect my external harddisk to universal and want to see harddisk data on universal is it possible plz rep .. thanx
Could well be possible , for this your WM will have to work as USN HOST .
Will search and let u know if i find anything
No, it is not possible.
The number of WM devices that actually have USB host functionality can be counted using fingers of one hand and the exec / Universal is not one of them.
USB host is a hardware matter (not just a driver) so you can not install a patch.
Yup, impossible. In addition to levenum's post, let me also state that, as there're no USB host cards in the SD format, you can only use Wi-Fi (or the sloooooooow BT) to access external hard drives.
There're some access points that have this kind of functionality; for example, NetGear's WGT634U. See http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13738 for more info.
I hope it wasn't asked before... tried search but nothing came up for Droid in HD2.
So is there a way to enable the Host-Mode on HD2 with Android?
Would be great to connect my selfmade external HDD which i use for travel to view some videos or to ahve more music without buying that expensive 16 or 32 GB cards.
Don't know if it works on android, but I read in ubuntu it does. You need a special cable with power supply though. You should try reading this
Android was not made for supporting USB host mode. So, although the HD2 is USB-host capable, you won't find an easy way to enable it on Android
You've got other solutions : if you don't mind using Windows Mobile, you can try Zeno USB host drivers on your HD2, or if you are a Linux fanatic, you can use Ubuntu, just to play your music & videos from you hard disk.
Hi,
Anyone tried connecting nubia z17 to an external Monitor? If so Please advice what usb type c hub or cable used, cause i have tried several but no luck.
anyone care to comment...
Hi all.
Just want expand on this.... This awesome phone is snapdragon 835... Along with all the other hardware..
Microsoft has already released the Windows 10 Arm OS.... Which has minimum spec of the snapdragon 835 processor. Very soon someone out there is going to be able to run full Windows OS to be able to dual boot. So we can go to our office and put the phone into type C hdmi hub and use it just like a desktop pc with external monitor with keyboard and mouse. By the way processor is powerful enough to run Microsoft word.. Excellent and all the packages we use on a day to day basis. Not only that it can run Adobe Photoshop. In design etc.
All I am asking at this stage is..... has anyone out there tried connecting the external monitor via the USB type C.... I have tried various hubs including mhl hdmi, the Samsung dex with no luck. Let's discuss the possibilities.
I searched many other forums and found that other phones having the same issue. The issue is that when usb type C is connected to the hub or hdmi cable the notification is says the phone is in charging mode only. It does not let me change to MTP mode. Tried going to developers mode "select USB configuration" and changing it but it does not change. This same problem is happening in many other phones. It may be many things but after reading many pages it may be.... The cable or hub or android 7 it self.
I think it's a matter of wait and see.... Unless of course someone has tried and it is working. By the way we are talking about WIRED CONNECTION and NOT wireless miracast. Please post your comments.
