HD waking on shaking - Touch HD General

I don't know if i did or something else happened but when i shake the HD it wakes up (it turn on) - and i want to turn that off because it turns on when i just a little bit shake (and that's not good when it's in my pocket)...
I have on it: HD tweak and a theme for HD (black theme) - the rest is by default (fixes, .net 3.5)....any sugestions (besides hard reset - after soft reset same thing)
EDIT: I restarted several times and now is ok....i just love MS crap......

It's a pretty ignorant statement to say it's a Microsoft thing since our devices don't do that.
You must have installed an app to cause this.

Actually, this happens also to me and almost every day. It happens by just shaking the phone. As a result, many times when I take it out of my pocket I find it dialling, messaging, etc by itself. I believe it is an hardware issue, and not the only one I have as I also experience sd card not being "read" anymore (soft reset or re-inserting needed to have it back).
Anybody else experienced this?

Hmmm - my first thought is you have an application doing this.
But, reading your comments further suggests a possible hardware fault. If for some reason the SD card connection is not right then the shaking might start up the device.
Try keeping the SD card OUT for a while and see if that helps. If this stops the problem then it looks like a hardware fault.

I am so confused by this problem, as it almost seems impossible with the reasoning that when the device gets suspanded, it was rumored that the accelorameter gets turned off (to which I agree, as my Gyrator does not work when the device gets suspended, only if just the screen is turned off, however the top 'power' button normally suspends the device). This brings us to a post from about two months ago, when people WANTED a program which would suspend/wake the phone up with shaking, but it was said impossible with the reasoning above (as there is a program which lets you switch silent/vibrate/ring profiles by shaking, but the phone has to be on for it to work). In the end, glad you got it worked out (though I'd still like a program that would do just that)

Just a thought... could have something to do with a looser stylus. Don't forget that whn you pull it out phone comes out of standby. Worth checking the stylus.

my hd doesnt do this :S must be a loose stylus or smthng..

man! this 'cking device is doing my head in! I think it's the worst I had! my list of gripes are:
1) the 3g (umts) connection sucks balls! drops after about 5 minutes! ony way to fix it is a soft reset (see below)
2) if I do a soft reset, any sms or pushed email disappear!
3) after using some website forms, the pull out keyboard is on caps lock constantly meaning I have to soft reset (resulting in lost messages as above).
4) no matter what settings I use (backlight and power) the device is constantly powered on, even after specified time for backlight and power off.
I'm sure there's more but can't think of them at the moment!
anyone else getting the same trouble as me? if so, what did you do to fix it?

Sound like you need to look at what you have loaded closer. Do a hard reset and figure out what radio and Rom versions you have loaded. Then someone may be able to help you because your problems are not normal.
lol. sell it to me for $20. glad to take it off ya hands.

"Don't know what build etc but it works"
I beg to differ - it obviously dosen't work.
I would suggest calming down and doing some ligical trouble shooting. These issues are specific to you so it is obviously not the device (don't blame it). You have given no info on your setup so don't expect too much help.
Ditch any cooked rom you might be using and go back to std manufacturers rom. A hard reset fixes most things - then install only necessary apps, one by one and checking that things are still OK. Cooked roms are only for those who are good at/have the time to/inclination to, trouble shoot.
Caps lock is probably related to the way you use the Shift and Function keys. Experiment with double cliking those keys - it can be confusing but there is a logic to it. Experiment and you will work it out.
ok...
rom version: 1.18.255.3
rom date: 22/07/06
radio version: 1.03.03.10
protocol version: 32.34.7010.01h
It's completely standard (didn't have the balls to try upgrading the rom). I've hard resetted a billion times. experimented with no apps installed and still the same kind of things happen.
apps i usually install are:
skype
spb backup
spb insight
tom tom 6
pieplus
lingvosoft japanese dictionary
lingvosoft japanese phrasebook
So not alot installed (and all on sd card, so plenty of room on the device).
Hope this gives some clues!!
Cheers guys

I'm making some assumptions...
1) This could be your area, but might be worth looking at your Radio ROM?
2) Don't use the reset button at the bottom of your device. Hermes uses some caching and if you hit the reset button it doesn't get time to flush. What you need to do is hold the power button on the side for awhile until it asks if you are sure you want to completely turn off your device, which of course you do. Once it's powered off (it takes a little while sometimes while it saves everything) you can press the button if you like then power on again.
3) On the slide out keyboard, hit the round circle button on the very button left of the keyboard, then press the caps button above it.
4) Do you mean the screen is lit up (the backlight) all the time? Or that the backlight goes out but you can still faintly see the today screen? The Hermes is always meant to be on, just like any other phone, or how else would you be able to get a call?

Touch Response Problem

I have a Sprint Touch [Vogue]. It has served me very well up until recently.
One day, I was using my phone normally when the battery died. No big deal right?
Well, I charge my phone and reboot it. For some reason, Windows is EXTREMELY slow and unresponsive. I figure that something vital had been corrupted by the battery's death, and that it was nothing that a hard reset couldn't fix.
I performed a hard reset.
I let the utilities for the first boot run to customize the phone. Everything seemed pretty much normal. I configured my settings, re-added my contacts, etc. Then I turned the screen off [with the power button].
I turn it back on later to do something. I touch the screen. It immediately and accurately detects the touch's location, but it continues detecting a touch. For 20-30 seconds, after the input has stopped.
It was strange, so I soft reset the device. It booted, with the same problem. So I performed another hard reset. I did some configuration [the response acting normal at this point], and then turned the screen off. Turning it back on brought the same problem back.
This problem still exists on my phone, even after numerous hard resets and even ROM flashes.
A better description of the problem: When the device is first turned back on [meaning brought out of standby], its touch response is messed up. It will immediately and accurately detect any touch input, but it will continue to detect the input for up to 30 seconds AFTER it has been released, as if you were holding it the whole time.
WHY is this???? My phone is almost unusable because of this!!!! I can still place/ receive calls, using the navigation buttons and the red and green buttons. But the touch response is screwed!
Can someone please shed some light on this problem I'm having?
Phone specs: Windows Mobile 6.1, HTC / Sprint customized. Minimal third party software is currently installed.
[I've already determined that third party software is not the problem, because i haven't installed any!]
Possible solution
Hi,
today I experienced something similar to your description - no touch response when I tried to pickup a call. The strange thing is that last night everything was working and no settings were modified nor programs were added/removed. The screen suddenly 'died'. At the moment I am using it through a program MyMobiler which brings the mobile display to the PC and I can use the mouse to control the phone (it is like VNC for the phone screen, the phone is connected with ActiveSync).
This is temporary solution untill I finish my backups of files, programs, settings. I didnot performed hard reset yet, hope this will solve my problem
In the following link there is a 'magical' solution - to remove the screen protector:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1112981/LCD+or+Touch+screen+not+working
P.S. I had removed the screen protector and voilá - the screen is now touch responsive. The root cause of the problem obviously is the dust between the screen and the protector which results in constant screen pressing - and as a result no accepting my finger presses.
I hope this will work for you and others with similar problem.
I had a similar experience with an old Vogue.....In my case, there was no battery death precursor, but it just started acting up. Not too long thereafter, I noticed the screen/digitizer was forming what looked like an air bubble between the digitizer and the LCD on one place of the screen. The screen was becoming defective. I eventually had to buy another Vogue from a friend who didn't have a clue of the 6900's potential, and didn't want his anymore, so I got it cheap.
Sounds like your screen/digitizer may be on it's last leg.

Leo Screen freeze crash Issue

I have been having some problems with my leo where i cannot unlock it after coming out of standby. The screen just freezes.
And sometimes when i press the END button to get it out of standby, the key lights come on, but nothing else happens.
Apparently others have this issue too! - check out u-tube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqJw5omurLA
Has anyone else had this or still having this? Do i have to return my phone for another one?
Have you tried a hard reset?

Haven't had the issue. Vaguely read about this somewhere else, might be related to the default WM 6.5 lockscreen. Disable it and try something like S2U2 and see if u still have the same issue.
I have same problem with my device. Is this software or hardware problem? I have to do hard reset, and after that display can be stack. So I have to do soft reset, and phone working. It happens to me 2 times in one day, both times after I have been in room with very bad signal. Maybe that can produce problem. Symptoms are same as on YouTube video.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
i face this b4, it happend few times a day. but after i do hard reset the problem is solved. i think should be installed something conflict with the phone or inproper amended some registry
i used to have this but now it is less common after I have installed WMTask to Close applications when I hit "X" (instead of WM just minimizing the app). In effect it frees up memory and hopefully does cause your HD to struggle for memory when waking up?
guys,
for your info, I installed a new ROM and this didnt help. So it is NOT a SOFTWARE issue. I returned my phone for a new replacement unit and no more issues.
Sorry to say but if u have this problem u need to send your phone back.
I now have no more issues!
Mine has been doing this a lot. Turning it back on just results in the keys lighting up and nothing more.
Work around is to turn on so keys light up, hold down power key until lights all go off, then press power key again ... it will come back to the lock screen.
Thanks for your prompt answer.
It is not seems as memory problem, because if I remove and return battery problem stay. Maybe it can be problem with display driver. Also it is a little strange that after hard reset, I have to do soft reset to get it work again. I not like to change rom version, because it can void my guaranty, and maybe it is hardware problem.
Mine does exactly the same thing once it gets warm. Decided to return it after trying multiple hard resets. ROM changes and S2U2. Made no difference.
As I've joked on this forum before (although it's true), I had to put mine in the freezer to get the screen to work again so it sounds to me like a hardware issue.
Mine's going back for a replacement next week...

Well thanks for the solution so if we get that bug , just put your brand new HTC HD2 on the freeser lol
I had similar problem four mornings in a row. Hardware keys would light up but screen dead. Soft reset got it going again, and a hard reset made no difference, even without reinstalling my softwares (I had a clock alarm set for each morning, maybe this is just coincidence). Someone on another forum with a similar issue suggested installing MemMaid, and for me this has worked. Running a regular 'clean' has meant that the problem has not returned, for three days now. So far! I notice that every clean finds many duplicate or invalid 'notifications', not sure if these somehow accumulate and cause the device to crash? Maybe worth trying? So problem for me at least is software related. HTC need to sort this as it is really annoying, and MemMaid is only free as a trial.

I am not quite sure that is software problem, if you done hard reset, and display still not respond on touch.
Soft or hard reset could clear the problem, I just mean that a hard reset didn't avoid the problem coming back. My current ROM is the official 1.48, didn't have this issue on the previous official ROM.
I got confirmation from service today, that it is hardware issue with phone display.

How do you know if youre phone should be replaced? Does it happen every time?
This happens to me every so often.
ya, I'm experiencing this as well. real drag!
The same thing happened to me aswell.
I recieved a message and when I tried to unlock the screen, nothing happened. The hardware keys worked but the screen didn't register my touches.
Tried soft reset, didn't work. Removed battery for a while, didn't work. Hard reset, didn't work. Flashed official ROM from HTC, didn't work.
It's been sent for repair. Hope I get it back quickly
I actually don't. But I insist to get phone replaced. I wrote appeal to company where I buy phone. Also I wrote down S/N and IME so I can check if I get new one.
Got the exact same problem, have been complaining about this in different topic here.
Sometimes couldn't unlock screen for many hours... then suddenly works again.
I've tried everything : decreasing/inscreasing screen sensitivity with reg, removing the screen lock, stopping the weather animation as suggested, putting a second finger in a corner while touching the screen : NOTHING WORKS
The only thing i'm convinced : it IS a hardware problem.
When the screen didn't react at all for some hours, sometimes playing with its humidity could help for a few minutes only ( by cleaning the screen with some special wet lcd cleaner or cleaning the screen with some humidity from my breath).
Also i'm travelling a lot (several countries a week)... and noticed THE PROBLEM APPEARS IN COUNTRY WHERE HUMIDITY IS HIGH. (that's also the reason why freezer could help. in a freezer, it's so cold, that the humidity is not in the air anymore, but is in ice state).
MAYBE SOME GOOD NEWS:
I recently bought the HTC screen protection for the HD2 (5 days ago).
Thanks to it, Air humidity doesn't touch the screen directly anymore.
And the problem hasn't appeared, not even once!
I just arrived a few hours ago in the country where i always had the problem (cause of its high humidity), and guess what ? Screen is still working great
I'll keep u up to date if problems come back.... but for now, i really think this is the solution (with logical explanation).
Kaemon.

my hd2 go in deep nap

It's a known issue. Sometimes a long press of the end-call button will bring up the display, but that's rare. It normally needs a soft-reset/battery out to reboot the phone.
It's obviously a software issue as the buttons light up when you press them, then turn off when they time-out, and then light up when pressed again, so the OS is still running happily in the background.
during my search and tries for applications and tweaks for the device, i remember i saw something that assign a display wake up on the long end press, and something that wake up on shaking the device, is there any confirmation if these tools solve this issue?

Today was my turn to have that issue. Unfortunately :-(
I 've been looking for an answer, but there is no solution. Just a thread that talk about that the issue is caused by SD-card, corrupt files, formatting issue...
Please, do we have any solution for that issue? it started this morning and I have it 4 times today.

hmm. happened to me today. don't know what caused it.
I had this problem today as well for the first time. I thought it was to do with having the animated weather wallpaper and having rain. Today for the first time I had it predicting rain and my Leo kept saying "Loading touch sense" when coming out of lock. It's never done that before.
Then after an hour of lock it refused to wake, despite the physical keys lighting up.
I had this problem also today as well for the first time! But twice, so basically the first time and second time
First time phone wouldn't go on, touching the screen, hitting the spot where the lockslider was (in the dark), pressing short or pressing long on hard-buttons. The phone didn't respond at all.
Second time the hard-keys would light up, but phone refused to wake.
I had this problem.
Solution: Download an app called MemMaid and use the settings in post #75:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596484&highlight=settings&page=8
For me it was the Disable Auto Device Lock.cab (in combination with windows exchange server) that caused the frequent HD2-doesn't-wake-up problem.
I uninstalled it and it is working fine again.
Have a look here, the exact same problem was discussed :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5386344#post5386344
Aaargh. Just happened to me again. So that's twice today.Locked it with Opera open. Went to toilet. Came back and Leo wouldn't come back. Again the physical keys were lighting, but the screen stayed dark.
I'm running standard ROM that came with phone, 1.48.405.2 and then official hot fixes on top. Only using apps that came with the phone too.
Not done any tweaking besides cosmetic through the standard phone options.
guys let's try to focus here, we all have/had this issue. So let's try to remember what's the last things we dis so we can find the common cause so we can identify it.
Well I said in my post above, I read (don't remember where! ) that the problem is related to the microSD card.
Was logical for me, because I kept copying, deleting, copying tow large files large files in parallel, I mean I stressed my microSD. By the way it's the one provided by HD2 with the copilot in it.
What I've done, is that removed the microSD for a while and there were no freeing again for like 4 hours, and it was with screen off for like 1 hour and half, come back from the fitness, and it's ok.
Once back home, I backed up all my MicroSD to my computer, then formatted it with HD2. After that I copied back all my data to my micrSD. So far so good.
hint: what's the official SD Card Storage Cards hotfix from HTC for?

Display not responsive

Hi,
all of a sudden, the display of my HTC Touch HD doesn't recognize any taps any more. Also the soft-keys are not working. However, what is astonishing for me: If the display dims after 1 minute or so, tapping on the screen will bring full light to the screen, hence: the display recognizes at least some kind of fingertaps. Hardkeys (power on/off, volume) are still working, also the device at itself is working like always.
Hard-reset didn't solve my problem, I am stuck on calibrating screen which doesn't recognize my fingertaps... :-(
What I also recognized the last few days. When I activated the phone from standby (power-button), at least 5 times I saw the power-down-selection screen, though I never selected it before... Strange (in my eyes).
Has anyone had similar experiences, is this a hardware failure??
I use energy-rom WiMo 6.5 release. If it's important, I can add the release version.
Thank you for your replies

I had the same problem one year ago, it's like somebody is pressing and holding a point of the screen, so u cant do anythink.
I tried to hard reset, to leave it with no battery for one night, also i tried to put back the stock ROM, but nothing helped, so i just chaged phone.
This year the new phone broke and i tried again the HD and it was working again, but sometimes the problem was coming back.
So i descovered how to fix it...
U have to bend the phone a little bit... REALLY
U have to bend the phone holding it with 2 hads and pressing with your fingers on the side of the camera in the middle of the phone, I know is not so nice but solved the problem for me.
So remember, bend it pressing on the back of the phone, NOT ON THE SCREEN
Good luck
OMG don't bent phone! You might destroy motherboard! Probably your digitizer is dying, replace it as they're cheap. Motherboards are not.
