i cant get the new rom update installed on my x1 - XPERIA X1 General

everytime i try to install (volume down button + power button) it says "No image found". It really frustrates the living sh*t out of me! i completed everything untill the last step:
* Uncompress the .rar file to get the .image file.
* Rename the .image file to Kovsimg.nbh
* Copy the Kovsimg.nbh file to the top of the SD card.
* Remove the battery for 5 secs (guarantees the phone is turned off).
* Hold down the volume down button, then hold down the power button at the same time.
* After 2-3 secs you'll see the reg/green/blue stripes, then it will go to a light grey background saying "Loading".
after that it says No image found!
someone able to help me?

Well
I just noticed you created another thread too, I'll only read this one, no need for two.
If it can't find the image it can be a couple of things. The image isn't in the correct format, the image is not an acceptable image or the memory card isnt formatted correctly (FAT32).
I got one ROM from this site it was an R1A UK GENERIC, it had a very short title on the rar and also gave image not found.
If you go to the ROM thread and download the ones with the full title including version number they should work fine.

someone able to help me?
This is a free encyclopedia, not a hotline !!!
(pssst... this is a "developers" forum)
All of your questions have been answered before (tons of times BTW...)
It gets somewhat frustrating to keep answering the same questions once and again and again and again...
May I suggest you both to READ and SEARCH before posting / asking
HINT 1: read the WIKI !!!
HINT 2: Go to the X1 ROM development subforum and check the STICKY THREADS

which hspl do i need

i have stock spl 2.10.0000 which version spl do i need to flash?
I presume with that spl that you have a TMO US 1024 HD2? You'll need to try to revert to spl 2.08.0000 before you can use HSPL_1024.
Flash an earlier version of the TMO US rom (ie the 2.10 rom) from the sd card. You can find it here - http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
hey thx for replying back so fast but when i goto link i dont undetsyand which file to click. also i posted in the mod hack upgrade section and no one answered do u think you could check that out?
Click on the Leo 2.10 folder - inside you will find the rom file (2 parts) - RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.part1.rar and RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.part2.rar
Download these and then unpack them with WinRAR. I haven't downloaded the files, but you'll probably get an .exe file. Right click on this and select "Extract Here", one of the files extracted should be a LEOIMG.nbh (or ***.nbh) file. Copy that to your sd card and flash from there. There is also a RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.txt file at that location, so try download that also and see what instructions it gives.

after you put the file onto your sd card, and rename it leoimg.nbh
, you restart the phone into bootloader and it flashes, , nothing to do with the pc at all.
well now im making some progress. i renamed that file to leoimg. then powered down then held volume down and then yellow button. it did nothing, then i turned it back on. this time i did volume and yrllow button. it came to the green blue red white screen did nothing. so i renamed the file again this time added .nbh. did it again. nothing. what gives? where on sd card does it need to be?

Be sure that the file is really named "leoimg.nbh". Do you have hidden extensions enabled in the OS!? If the file is correctly named and still a no go, try with other sdcard.
if you have a 16gb card you should deff try find a smaller card.
sorry it took a while to reply. the file i got was named romupdate.nbh. how do i enable hidden extensions? and why do i need a smaller sd card?
cos lots (not all, but a good number) of people using teh stock 16 gb card have had problems, , , some have had problems with 8gb, and less have had probs with 2gb cards.
if you can see the .nbh part of romupdate, then you dont need to worry about showing extensions. Just rename it leoimg.nbh and copy to sd.
also.

you dont go near the yellow button to enter bootloader.
phone off
press hold and keep holding vol down
tap and release power
release vol down only when bootloader starts.

[Q] How to run android froyo in kaiser (missing system.img message)

I've been a bit away from the android/kaiser scene, so I think things have changed a bit since then.
How do you start android nowadays?
In the following page, it says to extract haretinstall.zip, but it doesn't seem to be among the files on SF.
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstall
http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/
I then got the the haretinstall.zip from:
http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/project/androidhtc/2010-02-20/haretinstall.zip
I expanded the file, which gives me the andboot folder.
I then got the latest zimage and haret.exe from dzo page:
http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D
I configure the default.txt with the default-kaiser.txt (I have a kaiser), everything inside the andboot folder. (and does andboot stands for, btw?)
I got latest Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo RLS15 All Language.zip (link below), extracted the androidinstall.tgz and copied inside the andboot folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712310
When I boot android it says "fail to reach system.img on the SD card". From what I read somewhere the system.img isn't part of the installation anymore, right?
Where can I find instructions to start from scratch? Step by step, with links for all the needed files?
I found something here, but not sure if it is updated, and also it isn't complete either:
http://www.androidonhtc.com/wiki/Installing_Android
Opps...
Seems I made the mistake of not reading carefully the instructions
I missed the install system part, pressing the central button of the dpad.
I'm in the installing process now, will get back if have more problems.
update:
it finally boots, but the screen seems to be reduced to a 1/4 on the top left corner, and I can't actually click or run anything, with the exception of the call. It asks if I want to use the launcher or the laucher pro. Using the launcher I can actually see the programs available, but most of them don't seem to work.
The console also keeps showing now and then. After the camera seem to be activated and failed, the console got enabled and the mobile froze.

[Q] newb trying Dextermod 1.3

I downloaded the Dextermod 1.2 without issue to my sd card, but applying mod didn't not show android market but did erase any apps loaded from appoke market. So I found and tried to download 1.3, but it does not ask to change file name and then says download unsuccessful in the notifications bar. Tap it and get popup, "Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone." So I try the 1.2 mod again and get the same message. Anyone else with this problem or can help me with a fix?
Downoad it on a computer and put it on your sd, android webkit browser doesnt like zip files.
Rename it Update.zip before running.
Looks like your new like me. I downloaded to sd card. (make sure card is clean. I had a problem with that first-no windows files) Also I downloaded file from my pc to the card in a dongle Then transfered card to the A7. went to file manager. found the file on the card (elocitymodv13) under sdcard\sdcard-disk0 and then press on it until menu came up and hit rename and then renamed it update.zip. finally go through the routine of powering off A7, then hit power key for 2 seconds, let off, and then hit power button again until message comes on screen about entering recovery mode.
Then use the menu key on side of screen to enter recovery menu once the android image shows up. you then need to use search key and back key on side of screen to move up and down the menu. First move highlight down to "Wipe/factory reset" and hit menu button to apply command. (Dexter recommends wiping the slate clean to ensure proper function of his mod.) When that is done, you will see the menu again and move down to "apply sdcard:update.zip" and hit menu buttom to apply command. this will then put the new mod. on the system. The only other thing that will be neccessary is to go back and download the "ElocityMod v1.3 bluetooth fix" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890042 . This update gets applied the same way as above except you dont obviously need to use the wipe/factory reset command again. This will give you bluetooth function back. I hope this is clear enough.
I have been trying since I got the thing to tether it to my windows mobile phone. Good luck with that. I still haven't found an answer. take care.
file name
as stated
download the file to your computer. then rename it to update. Just
update
You don't need to put .zip at end because its already a zip file. Then transfer it on to your sd card. Easiest way is to open your My computer drag and drop to the dir that is sd card on your computer that way it automatically goes into the root of the sd card.
then do the as stated flash update procedure.

Jesus, this just doesn't stop.
The file NEEDS TO BE Update.zip
Please read the writeup I just made this morning describing why people are getting screwed up on this, how to fix it, and why I rag on people like you who put out misinformation.

[Q] So I think something bad just happened...

G'day,
I was about to flash the new CWM and thus hit VOL+, VOL- and POWER to get to the purple screen.
When Windows detected the sdcard, it threw up a message saying something like 'scan and fix' because the sdcard was faulty. Because Winamp keeps popping up asking me if I wanted Winamp to manage the sdcard as a portable device, I was already mid-click and thus accidentally hit 'scan and fix' instead of cancelling out of it.
Now the sdcard contents is nothing but a directory called FOUND.000 and a file called 'FILE0000.CHK' (4.90MB).
I suspect this is a very bad thing.
I can still read/write to the sdcard, and I have a backup of "amss.mbn" and "EMMCBOOT.MBN" as recommended a while back before flashing things.
Whats the best way to proceed from here?
maybe you can ask someone to send u the files that are suposed to be on it...
Things are simple, as long as you can still access the bootloader (pink screen).
Format the partition with FAT32, create a folder called "image" and copy the following files on there.
EMMCBOOT - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb6ifvgk72iru4a
AMSS.MBN - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6r45q6p5gew59v
Recovery.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?57njygc8oianjac
Boot.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?6d5i0714a7o9z97
Remove the battery, then boot into recovery by pressing Vol+ and Power. From there on, you should know what to do...
Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
That worked perfectly
For my own future reference, I rehosted those files here:
http://www.filedump.net/Uploads/Library/Android/Huawei/U8800/internal_sd_contents/
... other people may find those useful too. I rehosted them mainly because those download sites have a horrible habit of removing files randomly, or suddenly deciding you arent allowed to download any more today just when you need the files.
Thanks again, I'm back into MIUI and breathing a sigh of relief. Though it would have been a good excuse to get a Samsung Galaxy Note
