I had a search and couldn't see anything relevant...
I just updated to the latest UK generic firmware and I'm having a bit of a strange problem. The phone will gradually slow to a halt, it mainly affects the start bar at the top and the soft keys at the bottom. For instance, at first I can get into the Start menu with no problems, then after opening and closing a few windows the start menu will take a couple of seconds to appear, then it'll just highlight but not open at all. Strangely enough the backlight will still dim but doesn't switch off as it's set to. At the moment I'm getting a few minutes of usability out of it before it freezes up.
Installed at the moment I have:
SPB Time
SPB Phone Suite
SPB Backup
Chartcross GPS Test
XperiaTweak
Advanced Config
Batti
Facebook panel
Total Commander
I used XperiaTweak to put the glyph cache up to 32768 and filesystem cache up to 8192, I have put them down to 8192 and 4096 but it hasn't made any difference. Other than that I haven't made any changes that I can think of.
I'm hoping that you clever people on here can spot what I'm doing wrong! (which hopefully won't involve a hard reset because I've just managed to get the GPS working for the first time!)
mine is slow after update too. everytime I hit settings, the phone hangs.
Strange
I'm on latest and have mostly the same stuff except or the SPB stuff. I havn't really got any GUI customisations excep HomeScreen++ and it all seems to work perfectly. Doesn't hang on me, runs pretty snappy, no problems really. I'd say try without the SPB stuff.
my problem ended being the sprite backup... sigh.... Sprite never worked that great on my Kaiser either.

Sprite did a hard reset after I used it! then I switched to SPB backup and it works well.
I don't have hanging problem with R2A(Generic_SE) and i think it works better than R1A and very faster.

I am thinking about doing a hard reset because I noticed that Spb diary, weather and pocket plus cause my BT icon to disappear whenever I have all 3 installed and do a soft reset. I also keep getting an error message with my bejeweled 2 game. It keeps saying the game cannot be saved. I have the super Jam w/128 megs and did the bigstorage hack. Does anyone else have these problems-and do you think a hard reset will correct these issues?
entirely up to you..you may want to try uninstalling them one by one and see if performance improves...otherwise hard reset and start again is good too..it will TRIM some FAT off RAM now that you know which apps you want to install.
Good point. I guess what I am really asking is if anyone successfully has all SPB products - DIARY, WEATHER, POCKET PLUS - working on their Imate Jam or Magician without any problems, such as major slowdowns, BT icons disappearing, etc. I am doing my clean install now, but just wanted to know if it is even worth installing DIARY since I would prefer Pocket Plus and Weather over Diary if I can't have all three working well with the Jam.

I've used PocketPlus and Weather before on my handheld..it works pretty well...only starts to lag when I have installed too many today plugins so I removed the PocketPlus but kept the Weather. But generally you'll find PocketPlus is a very popular plugin.
Well, so far so good. I have all three working now and when I did a reset, my BT icon showed up as well. It seems to run fairly smooth on startup. I unchecked the Pocket plus "fix 2003 duplicate alarms" and "suspend mode." I also did not install any of the extended rom files, except my tmobile settings. I made a backup using Sprite, just in case something goes wrong.
Oh, I forgot to ask if you received your Transcend 4GB card? I wanted to know if it is working well. It should be a good card for you.
Not yet...hopefully Monday or Tuesday...once I get I'll straight away test and post results
Aquired my o2 exec 2 days ago. After installing Spb software, Today screen is very cluttered, scrolls very slow and occasionally freezes for a couple of seconds. any advise for a fix please?

de-install spb and find another tool to do the functions you need.
had the same thing in several program-combi's and install-order
that bad huh.. i looked around and found Spb connected issues..
thanks
I use all pda soft by spb, I find it great. the problem you mentioned used to afflict also my 9000, but it has been 99% solved after installing the last pocketplus version (should be 3.1.2) which fixes the memory leak and looks like its a lot faster than the others. on the other hand, it is slow while loading the today plugin only after a soft reset or when you modify it, since it has to cache again all the icons, tabs and so on. apart from those events in my 9000 its rare delays are fairly acceptable if compared to an absolutely stable software, which is perfect in my opinion!
My MDA pro was very slow when I had the battery indicator used on my today screen. Removing it solved my problem. Maybe yours too...???
I also use the latest versions of SPB and of course the speed of your Universal will be slightly reduced. You are running some extra programs, but I find it working relativly quick. I still have 22mb of working memory left after a soft reset with all the SPB apps opened. Only SPB diary can take some seconds to load when you haven't used it for a while.
Hi all,
Been following this forum for a while now since the last few windows devices I've had...excellent advice and information!
The query is that now that I have a Tytn/Hermes etc, I wanted to get onto installing my "usual" applications that I've alwayshad.
SBP Weather
Resco: Explorer, Audio recorder, photoviewer, registry, today plug in (but only to show batterystatus as compact).
The delivery report patch by someone in here posted in the wizard forum
Ammar wireless addin to show status on desktop
I myself dont think this is a lot to install?
the phone is an orange M3100 unlocked with the Imate 1.20/1.07 firmware installed.
The issue is that after one of the above is installed, I get a lot of instability on the device
ITs to the point that I had to format the device on 3 occasions now and yesterday finally re-applied the firmware.
At the moment, its just got my contacts and calendar/tasks syncd with no addional software and its fine.
Has anyone got any of the above running without issues?
instability would be usually slowing down or crashing of the device.
I've also noticed that on Wed, I tried to take a pic of a box with stickers for work.
When two guys were holding the box, the cam took a pic without problems.
As soon as they put the box on the floor and I took the pic from birdseye, the cam would take a Black picture (cannot see anything).
after a while, the cam would crash and I have to soft reset to activate again
Take another pic from birdseye and same thing
I know there is a camera patch in the tmobile firmware, is it worth installing this or does the imate firmware have his already?
Thats it for me
Thanks
I'm using the M3100 with the Orange ROM and firmware:
Operator: 14.123.1.614
ROM Ver: 1.23.61.4
ROM Date: 07/13/03
Radio Ver: 1.06.00.00
Protocol Ver: 32.37.7010.01H
I don't have many stability issues at all. Mine is also unloacked so I guess it's not that.
EDIT:
Sorry I know this isn't much help to your question...
Gav.

I have the above programs installed and no instability, however, when using today plugins It tends to be slow and/or stop responding after a few hours of inactivity (mostly nights)
I use: resco explorer/reg explorer not the today plugin right now, and the wireless "on the today page" patch, and a calendar+ plugin.
and this combination works perfectly (no hanging or anything)
try not using today plugins (more than the "usual" ones) and see if it helps
Hi, I don't have an Orange, but I think it would be pretty safe to say none of the resco apps should be givin you any problems, I have the latest of all the resco apps installed, except the audio recorder, and I highly doubt any of your issues is coming from that, I had stayed away from SBP software, I seem to remember early issues with something related to the today stuff..possibly the weather, but I really can't say for sure.
At the moment I have 28 apps listed in the add/remove(not counting the resco today/addins), with no stability or lockup issues, but I only have one today plugin on, its the small todaytime written by someone here on the forum, forget who at the moment.
I'm not sure if your stability issues might be from the rom or not, I did notice on my camera the first 3rd and 6th picture didn't work, the files were real large and they wouldn't show in the viewer, but I just deleted them, and let the number grow, and it hasn't happened since.
Two apps I recommend for trouble shooting are SBP backup and SK tracker, I recently started usin these two, and haven't had any issues yet, where I had to use them..I make backups and snapshots often, but wished I had had them in the past before I tested software.
Hope some of my babbling might be of help.
The babbling does help
Thanks to all 3 of you
I'll give Resco another go but leave SBP out for now
I suppose one thing I missed out was that all those apps would be installed on the memory card rather than the phone memory... I wonder, especially with today screen apps, wouldthat be the cause.
I'll post if I have issues after Resco goes back in!
Cheers

Most today plugins must be installed in main memory.
I second that,
install the today plugins in main memory, and also if you are using flexmail install it on main memeory, otherwise you'll lose all settings in flexmail every time you restart
Hi, I'm using SPB Plus, Resco Explorer, SMSDR (Delivery Report patch), SPB Backup, SPB Insight, SPB Time, SPB diary & Phone Alarm .. All Ok. Running fine .. No noticable slow down on device (other than boot up time a bit longer)... So far so good ..
Ok re-flashed imate firmware
got resco audio, expl, reg, photo installed
got the resco batt mater on the desktop but no SBP
stable so far
My gf and I just got 8525's. I've installed LOTS of stuff (resco and spb) on mine, and some stuff on her's. Hers has been locking up like crazy lately, so we took off all the spb and resco today plugins, and that didn't help. We are going to uninstall the PTT fix and the devicelock cab to see if that helps.
But is there any way to see what program is causing the hang!? Like an "event viewer" like windows has!?!?
Cause my phone is working fine, but whenever I go to "phone" under system, it hangs. I'm guessing it happens because I changed my ringtone DIR to my SD card. But I changed it back to /windows now, and it still hangs. I want to be able to get into it, but dunno what is messing it up. I also have SPB Phone suite, so I turned off the notifications and phone profiles thinking that might help, but no go.
PLEASE help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try doing a hard reset.. it's in settings > system > clear storage
I know I could do that, but I'd rather not have to go through and reinstall all the programs. I'd rather just find out what program is causing the problems, so I know to uninstall it....

had same prob. Took out SPB and all is fine. I was running WM5 then ... and had lots of hang-ups ( Phone becomes disfunctional), I just recently updated to WM6 and I am having way better experience with my HTC 8525.
I was hopeing someone wouldn't say that
I have:
Spb Phone Suite
Spb Mobile Shell
and LOVE them....I really only use the Suite for notification reminders (like when I miss a call or sms, it reminds me every 5 mins) I also use resco explorer (today plugin).
But on my gf's phone, we already took out all SPB products, and it's still hanging. I guess I could run MemMaid to maybe clean up the reg or something....
I still don't know why hers would be acting up when mine has LOADS more stuff on it....
Okay, im just curious about this. I've read all over the net (and this forum also) that your X1 is bound to crash one way or another. Sometimes i read that people can have 2 or more crash everyday, which i think is quite strange.
My X1 fortunately never crash up on me. I surf the net, use wifi, listen to music, use the GPS via Garmin, chat on yahoo messenger and even watch a full length movie on it. Fortunately it just never crash on me. Not on a normal use anyway...
Speaking of which, i've tested my X1 also, to see until which point it might actually crash. I surf the net + Activate garmin + chat on yahoo + listen to music + occassional sms in between, and the phone is still doing fine.
It does get pretty laggy at times, but the point is it's still very usable.
here is all the apps that i've installed on my X1 (as in remove program thing):
Astraware bejeweled 2
Astraware Sudoku
Xperia Tweak
Garmin Mobile XT
Google Maps
HTC enlarge start menu
J.S Advanced config
Slick
.Net CF3.5
All the panels
the only bug that i have in my phone is the one where i cant add the speed dial. But this doesnt concern me because i just dont use speed dial anyway.
So im just curious, how does your X1 (if ever) crash up on you?
Oh and one more thing, im still using the R1A original ROM.
mine crashes whenever it sneaks out in the middle of the night and steals a car.
doesn't seem to have got the hang of cornering yet...
I have not updated to the latest ROM.
My X1 crashes when I leave it untouched for a period of time. The battery will be hot and no matter what button I press the screen just won't light up.
I'm trying to update to the latest official ROM now but I have no idea how to use the SEUS thing. -_-'
My R1A crashed about once to twice a day.
What I had installed is pretty much what you had plus TF3D HD as panel from itje, PlumSIP (Chinese input), SKTOOLS, SPB Shell.
It got a bit better when I switched to Daran's TF3D but that had problem of itself. And I started using SKtool's memory reclaim in the back.
Now I'm on R2A and its virtually crash free. I've yet to try TF3D as I'm waiting for a solid TF3D 2 solution as cab.
So al fingers are pointing to TF3D at the moment. Shame because besides being the best eye candy, I've also found it to be the most useful including SPB Shell
im on r2a. mine doesnt crash but hangs occasionally.
ironically its everytime when im showing it off to my frens. sometimes the screen just hangs.
wanted to show a video to my fren today when out of nowhere the video and all other videos cant be played. had to soft reset..

the million dolar question is, do you have TF3D installed on ur phone?
TBH, i'd love to get TF3D installed on my phone, but for some reason i just bound to know that it's gonna cause me problem anyway
Can we safely say that the crash free ROM is actually the official ROM now?
Or maybe someone else use cooked up ROM but still actually run the X1 crash free? leave your experience here...
