Maybe I do something wrong. Doesnt work on Aoto or Manual. Pls help.
Thx
Saar
Did you check the keyboard settings ?
(in Settings/Personal/Buttons see the last tab called Backlight)
Is it dark when you try and use it? the light won't come on unless the ambient light level is low!
Thanks Tekflow,
Yes I did in both positions, auto and disable auto.
It pisses me off.... the JJ is brand new out of the box, I kindda hoped I'm stupid and I just don't know how to handle it...:-(
Best,
Saar
KB Backlight
Hi Tintoy,
Yes tried it even in complete darknes, but if you disable the Auto KB backlight sensor, there is suppossed to be a KB BL manual button (user manual pg 10, button # 5). Tried both sits. Nada.
Thank you,
Saar
Is it a hardware defect? On my MDP Pro it works very well.
Sounds like a hardware problem, doesn't it? Off to the service centre...
KB BL
Hi guys, faulse alarm, I'm standing in the corner.... It does work but in its own logic, ...only when you actually press a key. I've expected that it should be on/off once the sensor dictates it's dark. Probably my own logic is faulty as I guess it could suck up the battery juice.. anyway, all's OK, thx .
Best,
Saar
that's good news ....
What I did is the following: I unchecked the "Enable Keyboard ..." and put the time to 10 sec for "Turn off if not used...".
So each time I press a key on the keyboard, it illuminates: I found this useful even in full day time in order to see clearly the signs in red. On another hand I did not notice really a significant difference in battery life.

What would be preferable to losing the cool auto-sensor altogether is a reg hack to adjust the amount of darkness that triggers the sensor. It's set waaaaay too dark at the moment, and needs to come on in less dark surroundings. Any ideas?
I to have a exec, and have the keyboard back light set to come on when i push a key, but what is the button next to the voluse slider for as it dose nothing
Thanks
John
If the screen backlight times out, pressing that button turns the backlight back on again. This avoids you having to tap the screen or press a key thus accidentally selecting something you didn't wanna do!
OH! thanks for the info on the button, But i have my screen and backligh both set for 5 mins so asume this buton would be needed if you set the screen to turn off after say 5 mins but the backlight to go off after 30 seconds?
Thanks
John
I'm getting an xperia, I used to have a tytn II and now have a touch pro.
When I moved from the TYTN II to the touch pro I really missed having hardware keys and the LED blinking whenever the phone was on.
I could only tell if the phone was on by pressing the power button on the touch pro, which meant on a night when I wanted to switch off the phone I end up pressing the button, only to see the phone was already off then have to wait for the phone to start only shut it down.
Can you make the light flash every so often when it's on on an X1? If not is there a way to tell if it's on or off (without turning it on if it's off)?
- Anthony
you could briefly press the power key to see if the screen immediately lights up, if not then it is off
or you could allow waking up the phone with any hardware key and click one of the other keys to see if it's on
I'm sure, with all of the apps and mods on here, there is a way to make your lights blink every so often as well
however, I've noticed the lights aren't very bright, even at night time
You can slide it open to check if it is on
OMG I've been going nuts over this, I didn't think about sliding the keyboard out!
The any key wake is an even better option, thanks.
I'd still like to get the LEDS lit though, as I used to remeber to switch off the TYTN II when it lit up after I turned off the (ceiling) lights.
Thanks for the help
- Anthony
A workaround:
Set SMS or Mail notification lights to "unlimited"
Send yourself a SMS or Mail and keep that one "unread", then you have your Xperia blinking as long as its turned on.
Hello.
I have my desktop dock next to my bed and I'm wondering how to trigger the screen where I get the green clock moving around the screen?
I dont know how its triggered....
I have tried docking the phone while in sleep and while active. And even putting it to sleep while docked but no luck.
(I know there is a button on the clock screen where I can dim the display but I'd prefer just the green clock instead.)
I hope you know what I mean and can help me figure out how to trigger it when my phone is docked.
Thanks.
Long press the dim button on the clock screen will trigger the green/black mode.
Love you!!! Thanks. =)
Hmm.. Another follow up question.. The four navigation buttons at the bottom. How do I turn those off, if possible?

Uhhhhhh......
another question...how do you keep it from going into sleep mode with the green clock...i like the clock with the weather all the time, but it goes into sleep mode after a few minutes..
You can't... nor do you want to. That "green clock" is the screen saver mode. IIRC, it moves around on the screen so we don't get burn in.

Step 1: Put on pants and root.
Step 2: Download 'LEDs Hack' from market.
Step 3: Profit

Date does not change on Screen Saver mode...
Hi,
I'm not sure it's the CM Mod, since I only ran the stock ROM for 1 day.
When on desktop dock and screen saver is on (green screen), say it's 11:00 PM Thursday April 29.
The time stays current, but the the Date does not change on screen saver.
So 3 hours later, it's 2:00 AM, Still Thursday April 29.
The date only adjusts if I leave screen saver mode and go to dock mode.
Um... For my N1, the green/black clock turns on automatically after about a minute or so of the "clock" screen showing. Perhaps the light-sensor triggers it, not sure.. but I just launch the clock app, tap the "dim" button and in about 1-2 minutes it switches to green clock.
P.S: I don't use the google's dock, I use some chinese one with micro-usb, not the 3 "dots" connector.
I've been doing the same as darkdvr...launch the clock app, tap the "dim" button and in a few minutes it switches to green clock.
I've been using the ROM in my signature for about a week, and it never goes to the green clock automatically, which is kind of annoying. Anyone know why? I've asked in the thread for that ROM twice but no one even seems to acknowledge my question.
led hack
I had been using LED Hack on enom's 1.9 and it worked great to dim the 4 lower bottons. When I upgraded to Froyo 2.2 I wiped everything before installing and the 4 buttons at the bottom still dim when I put the phone in the doc. I just figured it was one of the improvements with Froyo. It's not that way for everyone? I never redownloaded the LED Hack.
I pointed it out weeks ago on the "Froyo changes" thread but no one seemed to notice. It's about the only major thing I wanted changed on my N1. ;-)
The clock app has 4 modes
Full with weather (default)
Dim with weather (press the sun symbol)
Green "LED" bright (hold sun symbol, or wait) <- this mode has the 4 leds lit
Green "LED" dim (press sun, then hold) <- on Froyo the 4 leds are off
The green led mode may timeout, to stop this just plug in a power source.

Maybe your buttons are always off because you have it disabled in settings...Go to Settings/Display and wallpaper/Touch key light duration and set it to whatever time you like...

Well then I don't see a problem here...unless your capacitive buttons turn on even though you set them to "Always off" ? The lock screen lag is there, but it isn't that noticeable to me.Sometimes it is, but rarely...
Our you referring to the faint flicker of the captivate buttons even with the setting off,I turned mine off but can see a faint flicker when waking phone up.
I take it no one else has this issue?
@alexowen @Raver27 @Ashatar I have same problem guys, captivate button flickers even when it is turned off when I wake my phone and second problem on LP is lockscreen lag which irritates me, when I lock screen first brightness goes down and then screen turnes off, this is hardware problem not software
I like the capacitive button lights, like it so much i set the time for: 6seconds before dimming. Tho i can understand if it flickers on n off instead of just an on, i would want it off too. The lag on the lockscreen must be like 2-3 seconds? i dont have ir on mine. It's like 1 seconds, which is nothing.
Hello.
I have an S7 Edge. I have the following problem:
During the day, when I press on power button the display won't light up. Only a pink link on the right appears and after 3 seconds it disappears and that is it.
I have that pink line for about 3 weeks now. The phone I bought was a second hand and at first there was not that pink line.
But at night, after the start of the night clock, when I press the power button, the screen does the same at during the day but after the night clock appears and after I press once again the screen appears and I can use it normal.
I discovered that during the day, even if the screen is black it works. I have installed Airdroid and I have used Airmirror and even if the screen is black, on Airmirror I can use it with the mouse and the keyboard.
Does somebody know why is this behavior ?
Also, I found that is the AOD is on when I press the power button the screen appears and I can use it. So it has to have night clock or AOD so that the screen is on and after that I can continue to use it.

Your display has gone bad, you will need to replace it.

yes I know. But it's interesting that it works if it's powered first by AOD or night clock
