I have a very annoying issue with my Touch HD. It takes ages to receive a picture message and once it has received the message the data session then stays connected. Is there a fix for this?
I did a search but couldn't find any info on this.
Thanks
Andy
while i'm on my home wifi, i have to use the edge data connection to send/receive mms messages, and the session stays connected, and for some reason it kills the next mms. i have to manually disconnect in the comm manager after each send/receive for the next one to work...

Hi guys,
yesterday I configured my Jam to receive TIM MMS....
Seems to works pretty good but... I tryed to send one MMS to my own number.. I received the MMS but seems that GPRS connection still alive after the sending/receiving.
I just terminated the connection manually but I don't understand very well if I'm wrong or if this is the normal way...
I received one more MMS and when I tap it up a screen with a MMS detail and download button was appears....
What does it mean?
GPRS will stay active after downloading MMS. You can disconnect manually. Not sure if it's really active or just a bug.
If you set your mms client to download messages automatically then you won't get the button when you click on a new MMS message.
This is covered in the manual or the built in help of your ppc. Check it out.
I've noticed the same after getting MMS's and wasn't sure why it stays active.
Found that if I just hold the red button for a tic it seems to shut it down (symbol at top changes back).
Hi All,
Hopefully someone may help with my query.
I have the HTC Wizard running on O2 UK latest ROM, the cell is unlocked and running another providers card.
The email is configured to check for new POP3 messages every 60mins when I am away from the PC.
The problem is that when it connects the GPRS and checks for messages the GPRS stays connected.
Other cell phones I have used will connect and autodisconnect after checking.
Maybe the GPRS is connected but not sending/receiving data during the idle period?
Can anybody shed some light on this?
Cheers all.
True- This also happens after you send/receive an MMS!
Any way to auto disconnect would be good.
GPRS
After more research I find it doesn't matter if the GPRS is active, as long as it is not sending or receiving data no charges will apply.
Still worrying though and will need to check bill!
thats is a big problem, the baterry life go away....
there no 3ยบ program to do this? no one knows?
disconnect script
Maybe something like this ,modify the script to check and disconnect the GPRS say 5mins after checking your email.
chalky.
Solution
after the send/receive of mail or mms, if you hold the end call button the GPRS will disconnect.
On basic t-mobile vario II - 'out of the box' wm5 rom etc etc
I have set up one of my pop3 accounts.
Everything works find, can receive mail, send mail etc etc.
However, when I set this to polling for email every 15 mins, it will only work, if email is open or running in the background and gprs is already connected.
Is this normal?
I was hoping that the way it worked was that it would get to minute 15, open messaging, open a connection to gprs, send & receive, and alert me if there are unread messages.
What I've found is that gprs has to be on or it doesn't work.
Also, that if messaging is not already open, nothing happens, when I turn power on the device and go and look, messaging is not open, if I open it, it says 'disconnecting', but never does.
If I send & receive after this, the new message will open, but then semi-crashes the device in that I can see the message OK, and scrolling works, but nothing else. Soft reset cures this.
Now, is this 'normal' behaviour, or do I need to hard reset to regain this function.
All advice welcome

Click to collapse
There's nothing wrong in keeping a GPRS/3G connection open... you only get charged by data transfer, not connection time... if your worried about this, why not add on Web 'n' Walk to your package!
It's not that I'm worried about the data, I do have web & walk, it's more battery life. I've already swapped to gsm instead of 3g for most of the time, but it still uses up more battery than not having it on at all.
So, with bandswitch, I thought I had a really cunning plan, set up polling, and then use banswitch to turn off the connection when finished. But it's not working out like that, as none of it works without gprs connected to start with, and messaging open in the background!
I'm just trying to find out if this is normal behaviour, or there is something funny going on on my device.
My Wing randomly reset yesterday, deleting all my contacts, texts, custom settings, etc.
After re-syncing it to my Outlook and personalizing my settings, i tried to set up emails. I usually connect to the internet using the wifi because i dont have a plan. I successfully connected to my network at my house however the phone doesnt recognize the internet.
I can't set up an email or use IE. Webpages pretend to load but it just stays at the tmobile default homepage.
I somehow managed to receive a picture text last night but since then I have not been able to send or receive any.
Before the random reset, if wifi was not on and i tried use IE, the edge would try to connect. This doesnt happen anymore.
In the Comm Manager I can not enable or disable the data connection. Tapping it is unresponsive
Ive been messing with all my Connection settings, but nothing seems to work, even when i soft reset in between changes.
Another problem i ran into was when i tried to follow steps to set up the MMS, under MMS options>Servers I had T-Mobile MMS there however under the "Connect via" drop down in the settings there is nothing selected and nothing to choose from.
Anyone know what i can do?
Hi there
in the wireless controls the data connection (set up datta connection) seetings always stays on. When i manually turn this off i have no problems recieving and sending MMS but this only lasts for a minute and then i cant send mms or receive, i then check the wireless controls again and notice the data connection set up tab has been switched back on!!!!!!....... i have to keep going back and forth to turn this off each time i rec or send mms??
I am on T-mobile UK with an unlimited data plan
The data connection is whst is used to go on the net... MMS uses a separate connection, and AFAIK both can't be active at the same time.
So yes, that's what you need to do. When you turn data connection off it will turn on by itself again as soon as any program wants to access the net, be it auto weather/facebook/twitter/mail updates or something you check yourself.
Interesting, I've rarely seen people using MMS regularly... you seem to be a rare species
ok mmmmmm so how is this going to make things simple for me to be able to send mms as i though the hd2 was all about communication....lol......so what u are saying is that i need to go back and turn the data connection setting thing off everytime i wanna send or rec mms!!!!
