Multiple Cellular Numbers per Contact - Touch HD General

Somebody Knows if can I add two or more cellular number to same contact ?
Maybe with registry edititing?

would be interested in that as well. but I think that's not supported, as there is no such field in MS Outlook (desktop) as well... If a contact has more than one cellular number, I always store it as "car number", but a "real" second cellular field would be helpful...

Maybe someone is able to rename "car number" to "cellular 2"
Let's waiting for a solution

the name of the field is for me not as important as the functionality... E.g. when you open a contact, you have the "send sms" feature only for the mobile number, not for the car number... and when you get an sms it's not possible to find out from which number it came, if the contact person has a "cellular" and a "car number", as only the name without number is displayed in the sms header...
this wouldn't be solved by simply renaming the field...
regards jan

I experienced the same problem, since "more than one" mobile numbers for a person is getting very popular nowadays, and it is expected to be even more popular in the future. The operating system (both in device and desktop Outlook) must notice this issue and resolve it

Call radio?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I tried searching for radio in the forum and had so many hits I didn't know where to start!
I have noticed that on some of my contacts I now have a call radio option, which contains the mobile number!
Can somebody explain to me what this is please. I cannot find any mention of it in my manual or on the O2 site.

In Outlook, each contact has many different fields in which you can place telephone numbers. One of those is the "Radio" number; scroll down on any contact display in Edit mode and you'll see that field.
If somehow that Radio number field has information in it, then the PPCPE will give you an option to "call" that Radio number ("Call Radio"), just like it will allow you to dial any other telephone number by tapping and holding on the contact name.
The term "Radio number" goes back to older days when people had separate numbers for their "car phone" and their "handheld radio phone"; the latter was the "Radio number".

Caller name instead caller number in SMS

Hi folks,
TIM Brasil send me ans SMS with all calls I've lost. useful when I flying, at arrival I saw who call me.
The problem is the SMS contain the caller number, time and date, so I need to search at Contacts to discover the caller name.
Someone know a piece of software able to look at phone number inside of SMS and scan the Contact to match it, showing the name of the contact?
Best regards
Any ideas?
Here in Italy vodafone sends a similar SMS but sets the sender name to the one who attemped to phone you
In this way the phone shows automatically the name (if it has been stored in contacts)
To quickly discover who's the owner you can do two things:
1) if the message contains "This number +xxyyyyyy tried to call you..." press the down key (the number should be selected by a square box) click and your phone should start dialling that number (doing a lookup in contacts and showing the name)
2) you can remember the first numbers (excluding the international prefix) press "red phone", "green phone" (to quickly start the phone application) and use the hermes' smartdialer to quick find who's the owner.
Try using SPB Diary...
Make sure your numbers are in the international format.

In fact this work, but is not exactly what I want, because after a airplane trip the SMS has 3 or 4 numbers. So I need to call/abort 3 for times... It's not elegant way.
thanks.

WM developer
Hi Guys,
I'm trying again... Is there a WM developer here who could develop a little plug in to do it?
I think is not complicated, but I don't know WM development to do it.
Of course this could sold to the community.
i had once a siemens sl45 and when i had a phone number in a sms it replaced it by the name in the phonebook... i so miss that feature..... i haven't seen it on other phones since then...
I'm not alone
Finally someone understood what I'm saying.
It's very useful this feature. I'm wondering if someone could develop this.
Anybody as a volunteer?
Maybe this is what you need?

Thanks Moe,
It's exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you.

Where do i find the function?

Hi,
can someone help med to find the place where i switch on the "search names in contact list" when im go to sms or dialer. I know i saw it once but cant remember.
It was so easy to just write the name in the dialer and the contact just popup.. same in the sms function.
/MP
all people
click on "all people" there is search function right on top(with a magnifying glass) to search for contacts, from where you can send call, sms, email so on
or simply type the contacts name in the "to" field of new sms you will get their contact number
if that did not help please be more specific in your request
no , not that kind of search. But it was a good tips.
When go into "New SMS", the coursor start at "TO:" from there i can( or could) i start typing names and it find matchings from the phonebook. Or when i got the dailer up, i did'nt need to know the number, i just start to type the name and it find matching names from the phone book.
I know that i saw it somewhere in the settings, but cant find it again. Or have Dutty Rom not that function maybe.
/M
not sure it works like that in SMS but if you start to type a name then use menue "check names" option it will list all that match.
in phone dialler it seems to check the list automatically but i think it is just the recently dialled numbers?
Yes, you found it, so simple.. wonder how i get the "Check Name" to be check all the time, not only for that sms.
Normally, it should automatically check Names if you begin typing in the "TO:" field.
Or am I wrong?
not on my Dutty 3.9 turbo. I know that on the original rom it was like that.
Weird, my 3.8 Dutty does still have this feature....
Sorry I can't help you

One more thing about this junk...

Did you notice that it's not possible to add a missed call/received call/outgoing call number to an existing contact in the address book using the dialer app?
You can't even copy and then paste the number manually into the address book. So, you have to memorize the number, or write in in a paper, and then editing the contact.
What a piece of crap.

Sorry but what are you talking about?
Do you have the correct firmware actually?
I mean you can perfectly add any number to contacts,
I do it all the time. The dialer is perfect BTW.
And actually all the new numbers from dialer can be simply written in Notes and copied from that.
I honestly don't know what is the problem with your device
but it's certainly not true.

BTW, You can't copy/paste numbers from the dialer app into any other application.
And I've have MR2 firmware.
And in the Xperia X1, you can add a new number from the dialer to an existing contact (a contact that's ALREADY on the address book, not a new one).

Jolo I'm sorry but something is wrong with you or your phone.
I can add any new number from Dialer to Contacts.
I don't see a reason of adding existing contact....
And you can YES copy the number from the dialer to notes.

You receive a call from an unknown number.
You answer it, and you notice that it's Mr. John Smith, one of your clients. You already have the Mr. Smith contact on your address book. But, this number is new because he has a new cellphone or a new cell line.
So, you might want to add this new number to the ALREADY existing Mr. Smith contact.
BUT YOU CAN'T.
It's that difficult to understand?
In other phones, even my old Z750, or the X1, or of course the iPhone, you can do it.
If you can do this, can you please tell me how to do it?
And not, i've tried again and YOU CAN'T COPY A NUMBER FROM THE DIALER.
Jolo.
Yes this is a crappy bug. My phone behaves the same as Jolo complained.
However there is a workaround.
Can you imagine a bug that also has a bug? Well this one has. In Phone app, go to menu>options>advanced and tick add new phone number to Contacts at the end of the call. When this box is checked, at the end of the call you will be prompted to add the number and yes it allows you to select an existing contact to add the number to.

Every WM device has that too.
should you try this?
from dialpas screen:
menu/tool/options/advance = tick to ADD NEW PHNOME NUMBER TO CTC AT THE END OF CALL.
after your phone call - x2 ask do you wanto to add, it will come up default wm6.5 contact and you can easilyyyyyy add it ...
happy trying

It works here fine.
Ok so the fact is you can copy numbers from Dialer to Notes
but only in the space you actually write number, not from the history.
And I usually add numbers from this prompt so I didn't see that adding from the history makes a new contact.
It's interesting if it's a general WM 6.5.3 thing though.

How to un-remember an action???

When I am in messages (for example) and click on a contact then click on call - some come up with several numbers and others just dial the mobile number...
Now i am sure that i have never clicked the "remember this choise" checkbox... but for 90% plus of my contacts (out of the ones with multiple numbers) it just dials the mobile number without asking me what number to dial! - also on the few contacts that do ask me what number to dial they also seem to have a default action of "call mobile"
just wondering if anyone knows why this is happening? or how to un-remember the number that has been selected
Thanks
Kris
