Hi All,
I got 2 HTC Dream Android (Google G1) devices. One was already simunlocked and I managed to activated it (register to gmail account) with my vodafone sim. I have a business phone number so I used office.vodafone.nl, if you have a personal (private) number you could try to use live.vodafone.nl instead.
The APN settings I have used are:
Name: Vodafone Office
APN: office.vodafone.nl
proxy: 192.168.251.150
port: 8799
username: vodafone
password: vodafone
MCC: 204
MNC: 04
I have ordered an unlock code for the other G1 from a commercial service for 19.95 euro, and am awaiting process and delivery of the code.
Update: After 2 and a half hours I got an email to collect my unlock code online. Works like a Dream on vodafone now
I have a private number. i also set:
mmsc: mmsc.mms.vodafone.nl
mms proxy: 192.168.251.150
mms port: 8799
Haven't tested mms so i can't confirm if these are correct. i looked these settings up from another device.
By the way, i have a question. it seems when using the browser i can't make a https connection when i'm on 3G. When i'm using WIFI it's works just fine.. any idees?

I believe some vodafone APN's are restricted to http traffic only (port 80).
On the Vodafone Live! APN I can't get https either.
Stuff like gmaps, gtalk, msn, ssh also doesn't work.
lol it works here .... also in the netherlands with vodaphone maps works everything accept myfaves but i don't know why you wanne use myfaves

Is mms also working? If so, what settings did you use?
I haven't been able to get it working...
APN: live.vodafone.com
Account Name: vodafone
Password: vodafone
the rest is like default
i don't know if i can mms but i don't have anny credit so i can't test.. sorry i have prepaid. i let you know if i have
I am also using Vodafone NL my mobile. The APN for the personal is: live.vodafone.com not .nl.
I know I am in the wrong forum, I have a AT&T Fuze aka Rapheal, aka HTC Touch Pro.
But, I also cannot connect to https, but only in Internet Explorer. I can connect to all websites in Opera. I can connect to Skype, GoogleMaps, OctroTalk and TomTom traffic. Outlook works, Weather works. Just not https for Internet Explorer.
It must be something with Vodafone. I have been searching the internet and other forums for help, and this is the first tiem I have seen other people having the problem.
Any suggestions?
Hey,
This is driving me crazy. I have the dev unlocked G1 and I can't get it to work with Vodafone. (I live in Holland)
I have a prepaid sim card with the Vodafone Blox unlimited internet for 9:50 EUR.
I editing an existing APN with the following (word for word) :
name : vodafone live
APN : live.vodafone.com
Proxy : 192.168.251.150
Port : 8799
Username : vodafone
Password : vodafone
Server : <not set>
MMSC : http://mmsc.mms.vodafone.nl
MMS proxy : 192.168.251.150
MMS port : 8799
MCC : 204
MNC : 04
APN type : <not set>
But I can't access the data network.
Can anyone see any problems with this ?
Is there something you need to do after setting up the APN ? like selecting the APN
you want to use ? or is that automatic ? Do you need to reboot the phone ?
Any help would be much appreciated - before I have to send back the phone and try to get my money back .............
Sorry for kicking this older thread but did someone actually figured out what was going on?
We seem to be having a similar issue on the HTC touch pro running the XDAndroid build. Only the phones on Vodafone NL seem unable to get an internet connection on XDAndroid so this might very well be related to the issues posted here.
XDAndroid thread for Touch Pro is right here:

hello i have just got a xda 2 it was locked on on all networks except o2.
since then i managed to unlock the phone to all networks but.....
i need the settings for t-mobile so that i can use wap and the internet.
can somone please tell me the gprs and wap settings for this. Also i am on payasyougo. please help i am new to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Im not sure if T-Mobile's Pay as you go is the same as the one in the states, but if so you cant get on the net with an XDA if it is, unless you switch your pay as you go over to a Sidekick 2 pay as you go plan which will take a daily fee from your balance but you get unlimited access that way, the american fee for this is $1.00 not sure what that is in your curency but i expect that it would be diffrent any way.
but here are the settings i use here in the states
set 3 new GPRS connections and for the accesee name put in these
wap.voicestream.com
internet2.voicestream.com
internet3.voicestream.com
probally it will be tmobile.com instead of voicestream T Mobile bought out voicestream here in the states and they never renaimed ther accsess methods.
if that helps great if not sorry

thanks very much settings work great on my HTC Universal WM6
These are for TMobile USA.
I have these for TMobile Usa. Enjoy and good luck. I did notice that mms will not always work for these. A network configuration may need to be ran. I also added a text file that will teach you how to increase the mms size.
I guess you guys haven't heard about tmo's new apn there rolling out: epc.tmobile.com enter that in your phone's apn address and you wont need a proxy even with the 5.99 plan
Thanks for all your post, I have the same problem and now it has been sorted!
Levelup what did you do?
can anyone find t-mobile uk internet settings for htc touch hd? Because Im thinking to buy one and it might be locked on orange.
how do i download the aim by text message?

Hello,
Could someone please help me out with the correct APN Settings for O2 (contract)?
I have searched the web for settings, but they don't seem to work and all are different from each other. Does anyone have the correct settings so that I can use the internet as well as send and receive MMS?
Thanks
Of course, I had exactly the same problem, took me an age to get O2 working OK.
Set up two access points (Seetings>wireless controls>mobile networks>access point names>menu) with the following settings
1st
Name: O2 Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
MCC:234
MNC 10
APN type: default (actually type in default, don't leave it blank)
All others remain as "not set".
2nd access point
Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
port:9201
username: o2wap
password: password
server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms
Save and switch phone off and on.
It is worth noting that I had an iPhone tariff as I changed my iphone for a magic. I spoke to O2 about it when it didn't work and they enabled MMS, still didn't work. We solved it by changing my tariff to a normal O2 tariff, same cost and freebies, just a different name.
That's excellent! Thanks, it worked a treat!
Would be good if people could start adding these in the APN settings on the new ROMS
hi i have been struggling for a week to sort my mms. have internet but not able to send or receive mms. able to bluetooth pics but not able to receive. called o2 and after trying all sorts still no luck. my x10 was unlocked from orange and aqpparently this was the prob. needed unlatching from orange code to access mms settings. bought phone from ebay unable to reach seller and oeange would not deal with me. did a repair of phone thro sony web site which meant was able to receive bluetooth pics but still no sending or receiving via mms. cut a long story short, just downloaded these settings and all working perfect. to me you are a god thanks so much for this info. searching the forum this seems to be a common prob and you have the answer. seen so many of these settings but all vary slightly. i am a very very very happy bunny. thanks again

HD2
Thanks npw, as above these are the settings that work. HTC Desire HD on O2 contract.
Right, I have a magic from Vodaphone in the uk. Its running an O2 contract sim, the APN settings have been changed over to the O2 settings.
SMS and phone, and web all seem to work fine (showing E OR G in the data connection icon (not 3g as far as i've seen))
But mms will not send or receive.
Any ideas?

You want these settings under a single APN:
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
However see my thread on User Agents, I am on o2 as well, but they don't reconise the Magic, and force resize mms images to the smallest size as they don't ident the handset
Hi all
Had my N1 for a little while now and two main issues remain: Voicemail Notifications (lack of) and MMS (not working). I'm on O2.
Voicemail: I've configured my voicemail number (901) which works when I dial voicemail, but I don't get any notifications through of new voicemails.
MMS: I've got two APN's configured (as per previous discussions on modaco/xdadev). The internet one is working (apn type: not set) but the MMS one (apn [email protected]: mms) appears not to work. Basically I get an error if I try and download an MMS message (download of message was unsuccessful). Doesn't work over GSM or Wi-Fi.
Can someone on O2 confirm what works please?
Thanks

Works for me to send - yet to receive (but this worked on my HTC Magic without any problem).
I also get the voicemail notification icon in my notification bar without any problems.
Have you reset the notification method using the voicemail options menu when you dial 901?
No I hadn't (as it's just worked before on previous phones). I've (re)configured it to display the notification icon so i'll test it tomorrow.
The MMS APN settings were close to what I already had but changing to exactly what you put above doesn't work. Same error.
Do you have the ability to screen grab your APN's so I could compare?
Thanks

No screen grab available for me I'm afraid but I cut and pasted the settings from an archived document I've used to setup a G1, Magic and N1 on O2 without issue. I've also posted them on here and other forums for people with mms problems.
Are you on a monthly contract? If not, settings will be different. Have you confirmed with O2 that your account has mms enabled?
I'll get a mate to mms me tomorrow and confirm that there's no problems for me with these settings.
Reduce the size of the MMS you're trying to send to <300kb... the messaging app doesn't resize them and a lot of networks have size limits.

I found this link on the O2 forum for when i got my N1. Iv used it to set up my N1 and my Wifes Magic. MMS works, although i remember reading a problem somewhere that because the O2 network doesnt currently support HTC phones, the image resizing is a bit pants. Recieving images come through at something like 160x160... terrible
Sorry for posting link funny, but all settings are right there!
These are the settings i've tried before, but i'll give it another go, thanks

Right - fiddled a bit with my settings this morning after running some tests:
These are definitely working for me (receiving and sending) - note small differences from my previous post..

Thanks, still not working for me. In my list of APN's (two, one internet and the mms one), I have a green dot next to the internet one but nothing next to the mms one. Is that right?
Also what proxy do you have set underneath the APN address? There are two proxy addresses for the APN but you only detailed one.
The only other thing that may be different is that my O2 tarriff is a business one, not residential, but from searching around the settings aren't different.

Hi, just found this and it worked a treat thought id share
To use your Android phone on Vodafone or any other networks you will need to set it up like below.
You need to create two APN’s one for connection to the internet and one for the MMS.
Go to settings>mobile networks> access point names and Click Menu then “New APN”
Enter the following to be able to use the internet on vodafone:
Name: Vodafone Default
APN: internet
APN type:default
The MCC and MNC will be filled in automatacly if you have your simcard inserted in the phone. Mine were set to 234 and 15.
Leave all other settings blank and select menu and SAVE.
You now need to create another APN just like above but for the MMS:
Click menu and ‘New Apn’ and enter these settings
Name: Vodafone MMS
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.012 (yes its a 0 in front of the 12)
MMS Port: 8799
APN type: mms
click menu and save.
IMPORTANT : YOU MUST restart your phone for settings to work
Bumped for any Vodafone users in the UK
Excellent stuff whynot66. I was holding off installing NAND android because of this. Now i can do it

What radios do you guys use? I get problems I'm calls of it cutting out for half a second regularly :-/

Settings don't work
I have tried your settings and they don't work for me.
I had problems getting MMS to work on my previous version of Android (Bangsters 1.5), but managed to find some that worked eventually. Not sure what I did with them, but since I changed to MDJ Clean Sense I haven't been able to figure it out.
I use the radio 2.15.50.14 and have never had any problems with calls cutting out etc. Any issues could be down to the build you are using rather than the radio.
