Hi EREZYAD, thanks
Landscape support will be part of next version.
Probably the first app, anyone should install for his WM. Once you get used to it, you can't live without it.
great job!

need a bit help
I've been searching for quite some time for the program for searching contact and handling its information, (I have over 1200 contacts), and then yesterday I found O3Touch. Though I'm still only at the start stages, I find that searching is extremely fast and resembles nothing I've seen before. What I am still having trouble understanding from the manual, is how to find a contact by its company name?

Hi Sigal
First go to settings page 1, press Search mode button until you get "Search mode contain " then close settings. Now type the name of the company and you'll see the first 4 contacts of the same company, if you have more than 4 press on what you typed on the top and you'll get all.
Greetings
@ Arie

Hi Sigal and welcome,
As a person that use this wonderful dialer (and much more ), for quiet a lot of time, I can tell you that you won't replace this app with any other dialer. In just 3-4 days you will be at the end of the learning stage, just use it (you don't have any other choices )
As for your question - Just search regularly as you search for names, but be sure that you are in CONTAIN mode, otherwise it will only search in name/family.
(I will explain as a TOUCH PHONE user not SMARTPHONE)
This is done in 2 ways :
1. Settings page 1/8 line 4 (touch logo button and goto Settings)
2. Start searching and touch to the right of the search string where is say "Start with", and it will change to CONTAIN, and from now will search in this mode.
If it finds more then 4 results, just touch the SEARCH STRING to list all the results.
And... if you would like to be updated in Hebrew and see whats new, goto the Freak forum at:
http://www.pocketpcfreak.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Himalaya;action=display;num=1233437360
Enjoy!
I can say that the three of us should go to sleep now
That's what I am going to do now.
Good night everyone....
many thanx

SMS Function update
Well there was a reasonably sized discussion about the SIM Contact update but it looks like someone's deleted it and the SMS Function update is from Decemenr and was probably discussed when it was new.
Thanks !
Thye instructions say to copy the SMS Function update to your device then execute it from there. It's not designed to be run on your computer. It worked for me last month when it was published.

I too have installed it before, but why is it suddenly gone to the top of the chronologically listed updates?
I just looked at programs installed and the hotfix has a different number from the other sms fix
Dunno, it's third from the bottom, fourth from the top when I look at it, with the original date but HTC seem to have been showing how bad their web management skills today.
Europe support
I can confirm that the hotfix number is not the same as the previous one. Though I am doubtful that it will resolve the issue still....
I have set this up on my Leo - it acually installs new radio from 1.61 version
Yes, that was discussed in the thread that some unhelpful moderator seems to have deleted. Apllogies if thread just disappeared into another dimension tho.
Sorry I now realise that Pympster was referring to the product indepedent listing which does clearly show that the SMS functiona ppears to be new. This isn't carried over by the publication date when you get to the HD2 updates.
The "old" sms update has a filesize of 8 832 680 bytes. The "new" one has the same... Would have been weird if they made an update without telling about it? Or maby they dont want to release another sms hotfix, like.. "try it now then, does it work now?"
Checked with HexCmp, these files are the same.
I may have missed the point here but it looks like theres a Radio update on the back of the SIM card update as well.

I have a problem,
purchasing a program, I get asked for id or name of the phone synchronization.
I thought it was the name I put myself, but I already bought two software that I'm not saying that the record code is not valid.
What is my mistake?
I attach a screenshot showing the name I post
You have to put your first and last name inside "Me" (My Contact Card). Phone -> All People -> Me.
The picture you have shown is related to the name of your phone when its verified inside a network.
but the software I bought with the wrong name, can I use it or I have to re-Own with the correct name?

As long as you are using the standard HTC Sense (rather than a cooked ROM) as has been explained above, all you need to do is fill in the 'Me' card in HTC Contacts.
This automatically creates the old 'Owner Information' data in the registry.
volitans: you need to establish which ID is being asked for. Sometimes it is Owner Information, sometimes it is your Email address and sometimes it can be a system generated ID. The help files for the program you are trying to install should explain what you need.

I had the exact same problem when I tried to install Resco Explorer. I used the bluetooth name of the device. I emailed support at Resco and was told (as has already been explained) to go to my contact card in my contacts (all people) and change my name to the name that I had registered the software in. In your case VOLITANS_1. It is case sensitive
Try putting the whole name in just the first name field of sense 'me' card

The CAB archive (1103 Bytes) contains 2 files, "_setup.xml" (696B) and "HD2BEN~1.000" (243B). I assume "install this *.cab" means double-click the "_setup.xml", but where and how must I do this? On the desktop PC while the HD2 is connected to it through an USB cable and ActiveSync, or on the HD2 while it is disconnected, or else? If on the HD2, is it from an SD card, or from a folder on the HD2? If on the desktop, under which OS does this work? Sure it won't work on my W7 Ultimate laptop, but will it on my XP Pro 32bit sp3 Multilingual with ActiveSync 4.5 (which works OK despite the "ActiveSync works only with Windows XP SP2 or earlier" warning)? On which HD2: any ROM, or HTC original only? TIA,

Instead of taking the time to write your paragraph, you could have just googled "How to install cab HD2".
I really wonder why not so many people try to figure stuff out themselves.
To install: copy cab to HD2, run from within WinMo using any file explorer.

My thanks for this timely and helpful phrase. And my indulgence for"taking the time to write" your rant. Ridiculously irrelevant BTW: how did I find this thread, if not with an appropriate search request? Once found this, what is the most useful to me and to others: start a new search and find other threads that also require more Qs and As before concluding? or more directly ask the one (here ox_eye) who brought the 1st helpful step?
My conclusion: please concentrate on what you do right (here your "copy cab to HD2", but also your "How to install cab HD2", for once a condescending self-appointed guru deigns to provide a search term, a right one in addition - even if here obviously useless given the context).

Apparently, you misunderstood the rule that says "Search before posting". That, or your definition of "appropriate" is different.
You're not supposed to just "search", but rather to find what you're looking for without the help of others.
I will not guide you further, just search and you will find answers.
P.S: Which translator are you using? So much vocabulary without much sense (at least to me).

The point of Marvlesz is to search before posting (one of the most important rules on xda).Cabs for windows mobile existed at least for about 10 years or so, so how to install them should be very easy to find on xda or on any search engine.
And PLEASE use less intense vocabulary as simplicity is the best way to go and to let others understand your ideas. I wasted several minutes of my life D) trying to understand the first paragraph:crying:

Yourselves as well don't search for every phrase or question. You perfectly understood (if ever you read before posting, that is) that I did search for the various issues involved (about Owner Information, and about Editing Registry). OTOH about installing CAB, the answer was apparently right on front of everyone and available with a simple question - assuming this forum had civilized manners, that is.- so you would probably have asked here as I did (while probably spending less time than I did to make the question clear, forthcoming and easy to understand). Now be sure that I understand well that XDA Forums don't want to get populated with fresh people bringing something new or liking helpful and pleasant circles (and in addition tolerant with visitors who didn't learn English at school). Don't bother, I already refrain from visiting here, and your recall will be very efficient for the follow-on.

Hi Everyone,
Found this great site looking for forums for the HD2, seems every other leads to here in some way another.
Got my HD2 on Monday with Virgin, so in 5 days I've come to find it an amazing piece of kit yet ultimately annoyed.
I've already got a list of problems and annoyances:
Having to double tap and go into the email fully so it appears read
Tapping to reply to a text yet nothing happens
When using the 'phone' keypad it types in numbers
The phone screen basically crashing so when you press a button it doesn't show the unlock screen. Thus having to take the cover off then the back, then the battery
Pressing the x in the corner of an app yet going to task manager and its still open
The over sensitivity when typing a text and showing words that don't make sense in the predictive text
Having to f**k about for ages to get wi-fi off grrr!
Having to install 3.5 compact .net. I still don't know how to do it
I understand there is a cab for the text and app for the wi-fi but surely it shouldn't be like this. I'm not a technophobe or whatever you want to call one and like to think I'm pretty clued up on tech, (That's why I bought the phone) yet I haven't a clue what a ROM does nor how to install them. I can just cope with cabs ha.
It seems Windows/HTC slogan should be 'There's a cab for that'. (not good)
Anyway rant over and Hello! I'm sure I'll be doing more learning over the next few weeks!

not to worry mate, this community is all about sharing and helping each other.
Hi there. I'll try to give you more "readable" info about the issues you mentioned. I'll just change the order of the questions...
Having to install 3.5 compact .net. I still don't know how to do it
You can use the official Microsoft link provided by 27firesnake, but you'll have to do some reading... The simplest way is to download a cab and install it directly on your phone. You'll fine one here (item #18). You should do this first, as many great applications (including BsB Tweak) need this system component in order to work!
I haven't a clue what a ROM does nor how to install them
Well a ROM is basically your operating system (Windows Mobile) + HTC Sense (homepage and tabs). You are currently an official RO (usually called "stock ROM" in this forum). What we need to know is what version you use? Most likely 1.43 or 1.48, which are not the latest from HTC. The most recent released ROM is 1.66 and runs smoother and might give you better experience overall, even though there no major updates (just a compilation of fixes). Anyway, some people manage to get "not yet released official ROMs" (usually called "leaked ROM") and are able to install them on their devices. The latest leaked ROM is 2.07 (that should appear on the T-Mobile HD2). Anyway, I would not recommend installing a leaked or cooked ROM for the moment, since you're still a newbie and just received your device...
Simpler answer: you should install the official ROM 1.66. Try to go on the official HTC website to do so. If your serial number is rejected, you should contact your carrier (Virgin) to know when you'll be able to download it. People here will advice you to install HSPL to be able to bypass this protection, but as I said, you should wait a bit more, when you know Windows Mobile more. To learn more about that subject, go to the link in my signature.
Having to double tap and go into the email fully so it appears read
Well this doesn't seem to be a problem, or I don't understand? The email appearing in the Mail tab are just "previews" of your email and you should tap to get in the "real" e-mail application to read them fully.
Tapping to reply to a text yet nothing happens
I don't understand. You're not able to answer to a text-SMS ?
When using the 'phone' keypad it types in numbers
Again, this doesn't appear like a problem. I mean, you should compose phone numbers when in the phone application. If you write the beginning of a number, you'll automatically see the contacts whose number begin that way. Anyway, if you prefer, you can use the People tab (then "All People") to choose a contact typing the first letter (instead of phone number).
The phone screen basically crashing so when you press a button it doesn't show the unlock screen.
Is it real crashes or just freeze? I mean, I you wait for a long time, like 1 to 5 minutes, the lockscreen doesn't come back? Many people, including myself, reported some freezes from time to time, but the new ROM 1.66 really improved thing on my side. You might look for this thread for more and this one too.
Pressing the x in the corner of an app yet going to task manager and its still open
OK, this is easy to solve. Just install the "Duttys HTC Task Manager". It will install a task manager and enable the closing of any application using the cross. You can find the cab here (tip #7).
The over sensitivity when typing a text
The latest ROM 1.66 decreases the sensitivity of the touchscreen. If you can't install it, the easy way to solve this is to install the (very recommended) tweaking application called "BsB tweak". There are a lot of simple tweaks you can ON/OFF. One of these is called "decrease sensitivity" or something like that. If it's still too sensitive, then you can install the fixes found here. Just to be sure you don't have a flawed unit, check if you touchscreen has the following problems (go see the youtube videos too).
showing words that don't make sense in the predictive text
I don't have answers for that one, but I know the predictive is not the best on this mobile. You have two options:
1 - improve your typing thanks to the less sensitive touchscreen (if you make less errors, the prediction will be more accurate )
2 - install an alternative keyboard like Touchpal or maybe Swipe...
Having to f**k about for ages to get wi-fi off grrr!
Well, there are numerous ways to solve this issue.
- you can install a shortcut on you home page for the (already installed) "Comm Manager". Comm Manager is already installed and was designed for you: it is a collection of ON/OFF switchers (wifi, bluetooth etc).
- you can install an application that simply switch wifi ON/OFF. Then you install a shortcut on your home page, so you simply tap it to enable or disable wifi. You can find an application like that here (along with a lot other more)
Hope this long post helps
Smaberg's WiFi toggle cab (sticky in the apps and themes section) is a godsend (as is the BT Toggle cab). I have the 20 shortcuts cab installed so that on the top row I have shortcuts to each of these on the homescreen, along with my two most used apps and main contact (girlfriend).
BSB tweaks is definitely recommended also.
When you type a name into the Phone dialler, it may show numbers, but it narrows your options by alpha, so providing you can spell the name you're after it works just fine. You'd have to have triple tap letter selection there otherwise, which is just far less efficient than whats on offer.
guy .. i have experience something in my device .. i was wondering why my device keep pop out the error msg like service.exe and the device.exe ..
it is quite annoying because everytime pop out those error msg .. i have to open the back cover and soft reset it .. it is very serious .. happened everyday for 3 to 5 times ..
Tapping to reply to a text yet nothing happens
Yeh, you have to wait (if lots of messages) for it to load above. You can see this by the scroll bar on the right becomming shorter.
Once it has finished loading those messages, you can tap and it will start composing.
But if you tap before those messages have loaded; it does nothing.
Hi there everyone, I'm new here, bla, bla , bla and so On ( You read it on every newbie posts......)
In few words :
I have dying every time I get new SMS messages - each time I must to wait eternity to get message marked as read - it last abut 5 sec.
I use a lot of SMS, and I spend moust of my time to hold still on message three words long to mark it !
My 6 year old daughter can read all sms faster than 5 freaking sec. !!
Who invent those 5 sec.!
I search in registry, in forum, I search in googl... I search every were ( probably not so efficient ) Please help !!
Can anybody change delay time on marking messages ?
I can go "in" on every message and then it's marked, but when I get message "Ok" , "miss You" or similar there is no need to click it and read in details.
If I broke some forum rules - sorry.
Regards,
Afro.

You looked bad.
Install update for SMS from HTC
I've downloaded and try-it
Thanks for reply Petulinek.
I've downloaded and try-it ( HTC hot fix, SMS issue ) Only difference I sow, it is 3 sec. instead of 5 sec. What about free change of this value ? to 1 sec. or 11 minutes ? There must be some kind of registry entry about it or settings ( tweak ) app.
HTC hot fix doesn't do anything with "mark as read" delay in emails.
Cheers,
Afro
I'd like to second this question, has anyone found a way to directly manipulate this setting? It would be great to page through each message in the black screen and have them be read as soon as you slide to the next!
Try this reg entry, dont know if it works cant test it right now:
HKLM/Software/Jataayu/Messaging
MSFTUnreadCountFlag = 3 (Default Setting) Change to 1 see if it fixes it.
