Any A-GPS function in trinity?

Hi guys, was wondering, does D810 / P3600 have any A-GPS functionality? coz several GPS maps i used doesn't have any selection about A-GPS features.
Cheersss
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Trinity
says
"Internal GPSone Chip from Qualcomm, supports Standalone GPS and A-GPS (providing your network carrier supports it)"
Hi thanks for the info
hmmm how do we use the feature?
i used mapking but there is no agps feature. my network carrier told me that they do support A-GPS functionality
that at least needs oem/operator setup, let alone the question if the agps is disabled on the chip or not by htc/dopod.

Assisted GPS Pharos?

The Pharos is supposed to have AGPS. Do they mean QuickGPS or is there really AGPS on it? Where can I find it on the Pharos?
I have the WM6.0 Dutch version.
when i turn on tomtom in my house it says im in the location of the nearest gsm beacon...before i have a satellite fix, thats assisted GPS i think...
quick gps only has the trajectories of satellites in the "local" sky so the gps chip can get a fix quicker
Strange, nothing happens when I start TomTom.
Can you give me your settings in the register:
HKLM>Software>HTC>SUPL AGPS>
i checked but no such key
wat is the setting of your key?
Keysetting in HKLM>Software>HTC>SUPL AGPS> is:
(Default) (value not set)
EnableAGPS 1
EnableGPSSmartMode 1
GPSMode 2
NumberFixes 389AC9FF
QosAccuracy 32 (50)
QosPerformance 59 (89)
ServerIP 195.207.101.126
Serverport 1E6C (7788)
TimeBetweenFixes 1
When I first started with the Pharos there was no AGPS, also not in the registry the Supl AGPS. I found a registry-entry for the Pharos on this site and put it on the Pharos. When I start 'Advanced Config' from Schaft I can see under GPS that AGPS is enabled.
When I start TomTom 7.9 there's no start of GPRS. Also my GPRS monitor sees no action. So I presume AGPS is not working.
Maybe I need some dll drivers, I don't know. Can somebody help?
you have a confusing story
first you talk about GPS and then about GPRS
these are 2 different things
GPRS is your data connection (in case EDGE is not available)
GPS is global positioning system and i didnt know tomtom 7.9 was out, i use 6.
if you do a simple search on the phorum you can see that tomtom 7.9 causes a few problems i suugest you read that!
my advice would be to revert back to 6 .. works great on the pharos
Maybe I'm confused. I thought Assited-GPS uses GPRS to make contact with the gsm beacons and so make a faster fix with these beacons. Am I wrong about that?
The builtin GPS from the Pharos works fine but is not very fast with the first fix. I thought AGPS would help making a faster fix.
I already had TomTom 7.4 and know 7.9 (cracked version). Works fine on the Pharos. I will look for the problems with 7.9 on the forum.
Thanks
hmmm yeah makes sense we do need a server to relay the info... but ive looked it up
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGPS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_with_Assisted_GPS
our device is on the list... but i dont think i have a server setting... and my gps (tomtom) doesnt have to have a connection to the internet.
strange but fun to find out how it works...
TomTom does not use the AGPS function. Enable quickgps to do this before you use your navigation software (TomTom). It can automatically download the satellite info for you which is good for about 2 days. You can update through your cellular connection if you have data on your plan or through activesync. TomTom 7 will work without using the AGPS function but it will take longer to find a fix on the satellites. TomTom 7 is required if you want to use the internal gps receiver with TomTom. TomTom 6 does not work without some hacks.
I think that Google Maps do use the AGPS function. It is much faster to find the coordinates than fx TomTom and other GPS software i've tried, so i think that a program needs to be developed with use of the agps function if it uses it..

the fast "fix" that you see with google maps it's not a gps fix... it shows you the cell radio where you are hooked

Hi,
Look here ....
Dirk
I don't think that HP612 really has the AGPS function.
HP612 can't read cell id and get Google Map's "My Laoction/Position" info without GPS-on. Rilgsm.dll and/or Radio FW/hardware should have some problem.

Have a look at HP's document

This doesn't really clear things up for me: "However, it has a default GPS Utility called Assisted GPS"
The 900 series come with a GPS QK Position application, which downloads Ephemeris data. This looks more like assistance that could work:

Anyone have good experience with this app on the 600 with the Yevg001-ROM ?
i heard agps turn on automatically when you have gprs connection

I have never seen any data activity on WAN connections when the GPS is used. There are many forms of Assisted GPS and maybe HP mentions this feature just because the Qualcomm chipset has this ability.
The strange thing is that my GPS fixes faster since I've flashed back to the original ROM after briefly trying Yevg001 ROM (the one with TouchFlo). Could it just be the weather? Or does some driver (helper) became active again.
There are too many variables. It would be nice if HP just published some info on their implementation.

HSDPA Turns on when TomTom is activated?

Why is this? Im assuming HSDPA is requiring data which will be taking some of my monthly allocation?
I was under the assumption that using the GPS didnt cost? As the map is saved in the memory so nothing except my location has to be retrieved?
Any inputs appreciated, and sorry if this has been answered many times
It's because it uses assisted GPS.. which uses a combination of GPS and a data connection to somehow speed up locating you.
There's a way to turn off assisted GPS which will fix it..
Start.. Settings.. AGPS Settings.. then untick the box. GPS will still work as normal.. it just wont use the boosted AGPS mode
Hope this helps... sorry I don't know much about the theory behind the AGPS stuff!
Ah thanks - i read it didnt cost anything to use A-GPS but my data plan doesnt start til the 21st so best keep off it for now
Cheers for your help!

Internal GPS Touch 3G

Hello,
im using Tomtom Navigator v. 7.910 on my phone and have the problem that it takes very long to connect to the GPS satelites. But in some cases the phone connect very fast. Anybody is having the same problem? Is there a workaround that fixes the problem? Thanks in advance.
Regards
common
I am afraid, it is a common problem.
Some configratıons and especially some new Roms improve the reception..
Quick GPS!?
have you update your quick gps?
does TOMTOM support AGPS?
I have GPS.Tuner.v5.3c and I have the same issue...because it doesnt support AGPS!
You can use QuickGPS, it quickly downloads current satallite info and helps you to find them faster once you run gps programs.
hi guys
to add to the questions?
Does htc touch 3g inbuilt GPS have TMC fucntionality? Can A-gps be of any help here?
I am running Igo 8 on the unit and trying to get traffic info. Traffic data works with tomtom 7.4, but via data connection. wondering if i can get such service for free via igo8-tmc connection.
