Ok.. I understand that I'ts the G-alarm that causes the problem.. But how do I solve it? It's reeeeally annoying.. Is it back to normal if I uninstall G-alarm? Any suggestions of good alarm-apps that doesn't cause this problem?
Mine's always done this and I only starting using G-Alarm a week ago. I think it's when Windows rebuilds the message queue. The only difference is that G-Alarm alters the time allowed for it from 15 seconds to 2 minutes to give it time to work properly.
To disable this go to regitry HKCU/Software/ageye/Galarm/ and turn midnight wakeup value to zero, work perfectly for me. It came from Ageye site. Hope it helps.

im just wondering after a while of not using my phone the backlight gets reverted all the way dim so i cant see anything on my phone. Luckily i have it on my today screen and i can see just enough to fix it. is there any way to fix that perm so it doesnt do that.
maybe see this thread - doesn't contain a solution, though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51415
I had a similar problem struggling with PocketZenPone and found following issue: There is a checkbox in the energy settings: switch on backlight by tapping on screen (i dont know the exact phrase because i have got a german ROM). Double check if it is checked. If not check it and your problems are gone. Post the result here please for the other guys.
Thanx.
well the thing is ive done that before and well it still reverts back to that setting after a while

Do you mean you have double checked that issue and recognized that the option is not checked although you have checked it.
Do you mean it is unchecked automatically? If so this is a crucial information for all.
I had the same problems some days ago,
Didnt work to check/uncheck softreset.
I went to registry and did it there, and now it works.
johnny which key did you go to
I´m so sorry, i dont remember.
But it was in hkcu\controlpanel\backlight
Try change backlightontap and batterytimeoutunchecked.
That sounds good.
I would revert them and softreset then change them the regular way again (if its not ok.)
So probably i did it at that time.
ok this is getting real annoying this didnt start happening til i upgraded to 2.21. Now everytime i go into standby it turns my back light to very dim and i gotta go and reput it back to bright is there a program that might be doing it.
i have wisbar, resco explorer, resco pocket radio, pocketbreeze, phm reg editor. installed any one else have any problems with those messing with the backlight
i also have memaid, pocketzenphone 6
nm i figured it out thank you all for yourhelp

any chance you can tell me how you did it cos mine keeps doing it
I know I know there are tons of topics about this
But here this out. I ve got the problem for about a week and hope some one can help me out.
After 30 secs my screen goes to dimmed-fase ( correctly as I setted )
And after 1 min. it suppose to auto turn it off but, it does try to by it only locks it down so the screen stays dimmed and doesnt go in standby ( total black screen and stuff )
Any one know what this might be?
Ive check the power settings and I have ticked the auto turn off after a ... minutes not used :S
So hope some one can help me out cause it drains my poor battery
sounds like a software issue, perhaps someone here knows the correct registry settings applicable to powersaving
I hope some one knows Cause I thought there were more folks that are looking for this
is it plug in for recharging? if yes, it's normal, during rechargind, it dimms out after 30 mins or so (please check both options, to dim out after 1-2 mins.)
Nope just normal use, so I sure hope some one knows the right registry setting to it
When plugged in USB and sync with PC, the Touch HD stays on with dimmed backlight. No matter how long the settings to turn off the backlight, the backlight still keep on its minimum level.
This is totally different with my Hermes, which the backlight can turn completely off after some time.

I noticed that happens even when using a bluetooth to sync. No matter cable or not, connected activesync keeps light on.
Arrggh? Does no one know the right registry key value to it ? its quit annoying
*bump*
Really no one knows anything about this
same problem for me
I use LumOS, are you using it too ?
I removed LumOS, and everything is good now
Do you have MobileMagic installed?
I did and it had 'Stay On' activated in its settings which meant it always stayed on!
Might be the case here too!

Even if my HD has no LumOS or Mobile Magic (from hard reset), the problem (backlight stays on during USB sync) still exist.
P.S. My previous X1 has the same behaviour...

Well I had it installed but I removed it later one cause I didnt liked it too much
But the problem still occurs so there most be a registry value that didnt change with the install :\ or something
I've looked up some registry value's but really dont know which one i've have to edit
or if I even have looked up the right one
BatteryTimeOut 30
BatteryTimeoutTemp 0
BatteryTimeoutUnchecked 0
Maybe some one that still has the function that the screen goes black after a while.
Can look up the registry value's ? here is the path I dont know if i'm looking at the right point:
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Backlight
Maybe some one is kind enough to list all of there value in this map ?
PS:
My problem is that my blacklight doesnt go fully to black and that's when using it normal. Not connected to anything or something .
It usualy goes to black after a XX amount of time. but that doesnt happen any more :\
Dang no one is offering his self up too look up those registery valves
Guys, the fix is simple. You must have turned on the Autolock feature using HD Tweak or Advanced Config.
If yes, just turn it off.
I have got the autolock function on, did it via HDtweak
Havent check it via Advanced config.
But I dont know what you mean with the last sentence?
Should I turn it on or off?
Edit:
Well dang you were right, i've turned off the autolock function.
And now the display does go to black.
But I find it strange that it worked nicely a few weeks ago and now the problem occurs
so any idea?
*bump*
still no one has found the solution?
wrong reply
Is there a way to stop the HD waking up at midnight?

Same question .. ^^
It's a normal thing or not ? Don't know if the HD does that before installing/uninstalling TFDetacher ..
well mine doesn't do this so it has to be a recent software you installed.
I have seen several people mention it on here before but not so sure anyone had a solution?
Only thing I have installed on mine is G-Alarm?
it's g-alarm thing and i dont see why it is a big deal to a lot of ppl. it's only like for one mins and then it goes back off.. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL PPL. i dont get it anyway sorry i am not helping but had to take this off my mind
its not our place here in the xda developers community to judge or criticize others needs or preferences, because we know not the circumstances by which they live their lives. our place is simply to lend a hand when we can so we an grow individually and as a community. getting something off ones chest is best accomplished with a baseball bat and a tree...

I gave it hot cocoa that didn't work... still woke up at midnight so I tried sleeping pills... same thing again dead on midnight it wakes up - the hot bath however definitely did the job; problem is that it hasn't woken up since
Sorry I couldn't resist!

again it's only for one min. dont you think you're throwing it a little out of proportion.. anyway i am used to bashing my head against a wall but i couldnt do it this time because of all the blood!!. this has been discussed before at least two times to the best of my recollection with no positive results so i am guessing you're going to have to take it with you inside the mattress
Of course it's not a big deal, it's just a " strange" things ..
It's maybe a feeling but i found that my battery drain faster after midnight
So, sometimes i do a soft reset at 00:01
I'll have to do some tests
This is the reason...

It's so that the notification queue can be rebuilt for the next day. It happens anyway in Windows Mobile but G-Alarm offers to extend the amount of time allowed for rebuilding as there's a known bug with the default setting that sometimes doesn't allow enough time for it to finish (15 seconds default and G-Alarm offers to alter it to 2 minutes iirc).
Its biiig problem with that midnight wake

well it actually is BIG problem for me as it is not just for one minute.... somehow when it wakes at midnight it stays on and does not want go sleep again, overriding the settings which i set for keeping backlight for 1 min., and obviously as a result i get drained battery in the morning which is so frustrating as i do not have time to charge it again...so for me that is A BIIIG PROBLEM...
is it the only solution to take off g-alarm?? kind of like it and got so used that really do not want to part with it
Thanks for the few who mentioned it seems to be G-Alarm.
inspireme87 - think you need to chill out my friend........... No, its not a BIG problem for me, I thougt I was just asking a simple question/query
On a few occasions I notice it's got "stuck" and not gone back to sleep as mentioned above so I have to press the power button to make it sleep.

http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/manual/limitations#AlarmBug
2. Windows alarm bug
Windows Mobile has on some devices a strange behaviour: Although an alarm is successfully added to the WM notification queue (it's like a scheduler) it doesn't go off.
Searching the web gave me following information:
At midnight WM rebuilds the notification queue, therefore it wakes up for about 15 seconds. If the notification queue is too big or the device too slow WM goes to sleep again before it could finish building the queue for the next day.
If you force WM too stay awake for a longer time, it should successfully build the queue on at least more devices.
If you start G-Alarm and it complains about the Windows alarm bug, you've got the default WM settings (15 seconds WakeUpTime). If you press "Yes" G-Alarm changes it to 120 seconds which should be enough.
Here are the registry values G-Alarm changes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ACResumingSuspendTimeout
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\BattResumingSuspendTimeout

I fully agree.
I was talking about things from my point of view/issues I have experienced. The times I have noticed it failing to go to sleep, I have still been awake so noticed the light still on in the room so luckily didn't find my battery was flat in the morning.
I will remove G-Alarm to make sure it's the problem and see what happens.

i did found solution, though u need registry editor in order to make it work... change the value of the string in HKCU\Software\ageye\G-Alarm\MidnightWakeUp from True to False. from now on you will not be bothered by waking of your toy and alarm will be working as normal... at least my does.

Thanks for the tip I will give it a try
Mind you most mornings now I am finding G-Alarm seems to hang/crash my phone? The first alarm goes off as expected, i press the snooze button then sometimes it will go off again and then hang.
The G-Alarm screen remains on phone, with the screen lit, and nothing responds, not even holding in the power button. I have to remove the battery.
So might just scrap it as it seems a bit "buggy".
I have same trouble and there is no G-Alarm app on my HD so I think I have problems with another app...
I already posted in the sticky but didn't get any answer.
My problem is one that occurs quite often how I see but still I don't find any solution.
The problem is that the screen of my HD doesn't show up anymore when it was in standby and I left it for some minutes. It's on because I can still change the loudness and I can feel the buzz of the buttons when touching one. It takes me some luck and time to bring it completly to life again by pressing over and over the ON/OFF button. When I bought it the problem occured very rare but now it's happening all the time when it is in standby.
I never did install any roms (because until now I have no idea what it is about ), the only things I have done so far:
Installed TomTom 7.450.9028 and these two registry edits:
under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\POP3 i renamed the mailtrns.dll to mailtrns2.dll (it's a fix for the email because my GMX account didn't work with POP3 on my phone) and the other was setting the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/GPSIntermediateDriver/Drivers/GPSOneDevice/PollIntervall, to get better GPS-Signal
Everything else is just original, like it was when I bought it some days ago.
Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to send it in?
I really like the phone and it's working perfect except to this point so I'd like to stick to it. Hope you have some advice,
THX in advance,

Have you tried going to Start > Settings > All Settings > System > Power > Advanced and making sure device isn't set to turn off after a period of time?
Thx for reply but doesn't that mean my phone will be always on? Or can I set it then manually (by pressing ON/OFF) in standby and turn on again without problems?

Yes to both, it will remain on unless you manually put it into standby by pressing on/off
Ok, I try it out now. Hope it works that it comes on out of standby without problems.

Just do a serch on hear fore " Keep wifi connection alive in standby " this fix fix works fine for me.
I have the same issue... not a huge problem, but annoying.
I found and looked at the thread mentioned. Sure enough, changing the registry entry mentioned in that thread does revert when phone is rebooted.
I didn't want to install yet another program just to solve this problem (ie. mortscript) so I did a little testing...
Try changing this registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
"SuspendOffDelayInterval"=dword:0
In my small amount of time testing it seems to work.
Resetting device doesn't effect the value.
Let's see how this setting goes over tomorrow.
