Hi... i brought my blackstone back to the shop and now its getting fixed.
What was happening: This afternoon my phone was vibrating in my pocket and i thought i'm getting a message. But nothing happens. Short time later my phone laid on the desk and it starts vibrating, not a short one a not ending vibration. I pick it up and it stops, i lay it down and it starts. I was wondering, whether the g-sensor is connected to the vibrator? So the vibration came and went.
I restarted and even hardreset my phone and nothing happened, same as before. Even when the phone was switched off, it sometimes was vibrating. Only removing the battery stopped it forever.
So now i'm going to ski and hope i'll get my phone back in a week.
Ciao
Rico
Oh dear, I'm so sorry, hope you get it fixed soon.
But I can't resist suggesting that some people might have paid good money for a phone that did that
Did you try a hard reset?
Latest HTC model: Touch Vibra ;-)
Hi Rico
As the other guy in the Swiss/German HD forum said where you posted the same question: What you got is the brandnew HTC Touch Vibra which had been expecially designed for women
Take it easy, man!
Same problem
Hi Rico, (nice name)
I had the same problem. Contacted HTC and they told me to send it in, So i Did.

Hi,
and another one...had the same problem, sent it to my vendor. Didn't get any response yet, but I'll let you know...
btw...unbelievable error, isn't it? Even when I switched off my phone it kept vibrating all the time...
Greets!
I had the same problem with mine after only a day, even when switched off it was vibrating. The only way to get it to stop was take the battery out.
After tearing it away from my wife I sent it back and they just sent me a new replacement.

Just to let you know that the Herald is officially toilet proof!!
Dropped mine in the toilet last week (while trying to put on a swimsuit). I removed the battery immediately and rinsed it again with clean water, and didn't put it under the sun to dry....
After 3-4 days i sent it to the local dealer and they told me it couldn't be fixed.
Got it back today, pressed the power button and everything is working perfectly (Wlan, phone, bluetooth etc..)
Herald 1 - Toilet 0
Cheers
hahaha too funny
That proves too that you are a really lucky guy!
Congrats to you and your swimming herald!
My friend had a similar experience. Dropped PPC-6700 in the toilet a few days after I sold it to him. Managed to get it working after a using a blowdryer, but there were many problems with the phone.
lol @ moullas
indeed you are very lucky! everything is still working??
everything still operational!
i think the red cancel call button may be dead, but i'll have to do a hard reset to confirm, because i remember it working just after recovering it, and i've installed a lot of stuff that may had something to do with this problem...

May be slightly OT, but a friend of mine poured an Irish Coffe on the keyboard of his laptop (dont ask ..). Initailly it was stone dead, after 1 day it actually booted, and after 3 days he were able to type on the keyboard. Now, after a month or so, everything works EXCEPT one of the keyboard keys. Oh well
Dont know where to start.
1. crashes all the time,
2. crashes when the battery is low, have to do a soft reset to regain functionality
3. the battery life is a joke. charge in the morning and by around 4pm i got to be cautious on what calls i take as it will die on me.
4. freaks out randomly when using opera. could it be my fingers are too big? lol
5. sms some times dont send. found the fix on the htc site, still not working.
feel like i made a terrible mistake getting this phone, why should i have to do hacks/fixes my self when i have never needed to on any othr fone before?
its trully a different fone culture using this, as i type this on the hd2 i have had to retype this at least 7 times. lol....
anyway the basic functions should be flawless, but they are not which worries considerably.
Seems like you got a bad piece which is unfortunate. I hope you can get it changed, because this is not how it's supposed to be.
I think I got a pretty decent piece. I never experienced any battery issues and neither the sms bug which I know many experienced on this forum. Also mine never crashes so I can just assume that you got a faulty piece.
As for the typing I can agree with you. However, if you tweak by decreasing the sensitivity (which actually I never experienced as a decrease in sensitivity, only as an enhancement while typing), that problem will be gone as well. It's not a difficult tweak, it can be easily done by installing BsB tweaks which can be found here in the forums.
Although I agree with you that one should not be forced to tweak this phone oneself, but I guess we'll have to live with it
thanks for your reply,
i will try the tweak, and see how it goes, i emailed vodafone to let them know. i forgot to let them know how slow the phone gets some times.
oh well, this is what i get ditching nokia!
try to see if you can exchange the phone. must be able to if you can show the phone crashes to vodafone and if you have the device not for too long they should exchange it for you as far as I know,..
Vodafone! are saying they have none in stock and cant replace it, would it be worth just flashing it with a different ROM since there is nothing they can do...

Have you tried a hard reset?
Also MaskedMagi just posted that Vodafone DO have some replacement phones left: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5285586&postcount=184
Perhaps it would be worth calling them back.

Yep, just to clarify that was about 3 hours ago so fingers crossed I'll get the phone tomorrow, though with the incoming snow probably not
I'm hoping that it is actually a HD2 and not a HTC Touch HD 2 or something as people have been confused over the phone before, I'll definately check before giving back my old one!
Needless to say I hope the newer one is not in fact worse than the old one! Give them a ring if you want, but remember you have to be within the 28 day period to get a return/replacement.
The direct line for returns they gave me was: 08448540430
Called them back but it was to late, got to call back during normal working hours... they are playing the arse because i called after the 28 days, when in fact I originally called on the 30th December, 27 days from when i received the phone on the 3rd.
I am very much annoyed, if they werent on holiday, there systems were down, then if not that they put me through to 3 different depts to then have to email v-store to them then telling me I am actually meant to call another dept.
These guys cannot be serious!!!
If you make enough of a fuss and tell them your original call was within the 28 day period and that they have delayed you they might listen, just have to see how it goes. Good luck with them tomorrow, keep us posted on how it goes

Originally they did, and the lady was meant to call back. But when she did the phone crashed. So I called back on the land line and got someone else instead.
Then had to go through the whole process again!! Will call back tommorrow though!
Did a hard reset we will see how that goes in the mean time.

What a load of crap HTC products are. i am so f'in sure of this now. Never ever saw this happening to any other product of any other company!
I just got the same problem.! i had protector on, and took care of it well, note ven using it much from past month. But still it happened. Its called 'Norton Rings'. I just posted the same problem.
have you solved the problem? I sent an email to htc assistence and they
have suggested me to try to do an hard reset: can you tell me how you solved the question.
thank you

Actually its called Newton Rings and the only way to fix this is a repair, sorry. I had one with one with my Touch Diamond2 and bought a replacement touchscreen from ebay (hongkong) and repaired it myself.
One Touch2 is still waiting for his replacement (shipping takes a loooooooooooooong time...), but the disassembly is easy.
BTW, its a warranty issue, maybe that helps.
Early this morning, I unplugged my G2 from the outlet before leaving to work. The damn thing just shut off and won't turn on again...
I tried the power button, the optical pad button+power, took out the battery and back in multiple times, many times plugged in and not plugged in.
What a POS phone, I mean we get a 1.3gb usable space not the advertised 4gb, it also "corrects" itself with a hidden mirror OS so it's very difficult to root, plus the damn loose hinges and the screen ribbon exposed when the hinges are fully opened, the screen also has a very subtle yellow hue, plus reports of random reboots, market problem where google goggles won't install, live wallpapers crashing and freezing up, and finally the POS just dying on me when I need it for work.
If you have a G2 with no problems (yeah right) then congrats. I'm really considering withdrawing from the extended contract and going with the iFail.
Sorry for the rant, just a little pissed off and the customer service lady was a real *****.

Yup. Oh BTW. The e39 is also a POS.
You're not alone, man. Between this and the Vibrant headache, I fear my days with T-Mo are numbered. It was a fun decade, but it doesn't look as if they plan to change their course anytime soon.
Unless, of course, they want to start carrying the Desire HD?
We'll see what G2 #2 brings tomorrow. If it's more of the same problems, I will be a disappointed man.
This happened to me too. But I managed to power it back on after fiddling with removing the battery.
Yeah my g2 refused to turn on a couple of times now without taking out the battery and putting it back in.

Sweet observation. You should stay away from both then.
I don't blame you. T-Mobile's customer service has been **** for me too. First they tell me I can exchange it at the store only to have the store tell me no, sorry you have to ship it back. Then they make me pay for shipping, too. As far as the G2 goes, it broke while in my pocket, so no thanks. Maybe they'll rework the hinges soon. Otherwise, I'm just gonna use this crappy ass G1 until the Desire HD comes around.
mines shut off this morning.. first, my on-screen Android Keyboard went missing.. so I shut it off, turned it back on. Then it asked me if I'd give access permission to Google App Engine?? Are they going to start monitoring my apps now?? Just asking? Don't know what that does.. anyways, so after that.. my G2 just sat there til I wen t to go check the time and my phone was off! tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't! So I took the battery out and rebooted. Its on now but this is the second time this week! And not to mention my hinges are starting to become an issue as well! Not cool! They need to bring the Desire HD over so I can replace my G2 with that!
Yeah it happen to my g2 as well. This phone is really not making my android experience any good. tmo need to address these issues ASAP, and i work for them!!! im going to check the "known issues" on the g2 when i get into work 2mrow and see wat is up with this.
i suggest you all who is having these issues to give tmo a call so they have enough calls from customers to generate a ticket with HTC and lvl3 techs to address these issues. Just because tmo is not on these forums and reading about customers issues.
my phone turned off yesterday and also this morning. idk if maybe me trying to snooze the alarm accidently turned it off so im putting my phone in a diff location tonight and checking tomorrow-- if its off tomorrow im calling tmo asap!
My G2 just shut off itself when I was replying to a text. I pulled the battery and reseated it and try turning on but it does not do anything. If I connect it to the charger, the orange charging led just flashes on and off. It's been 20 minutes and I have not been able to turn it back on.
OMG, the desire's symptom comes to G2
Mine as well.
Well my G2 just turned it self off as well today. It was unresponsive to the power button. Took battery out and re-installed and powered back on and has been working ever since but thats just not right.
Edit: Not sure if this is worth anything but this happened shortly after I put the market widget on my home. I've had Beautiful Widget running for a week so don't think that was the problem but not even sure if the market one caused it but thought it might be worth mentioning.
Mine has also soft reboot back to the G2 screen 2 or 3 times now. Dunno what's going on
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
I have had this happen twice. In fact, my phone is in that state now. I am going to the TMO store. However, if I decide to return the phone, it isn't for this issue alone. As a side note, I thought this had happened to me with the TMO phone I was playing with in store before I bought mine.
If you take the battery out, wait about 10seconds, and re-install it you will be able to power the phone back up. Anyway, this behavior could be due to either a bad part or a driver problem.
*UPDATE*
Sadly, after talking to the TMO rep at the store, I elected to return the phone rather than exchange. While they wouldn't say how many, they have gotten "several" phones back because of this. My hats off to the Seattle TMO store as they made the return non-hassle and because I was returning it due to a defect, I didn't have to pay the restocking fee.

Sound advice, especially regarding the e39.
Hey guys,
After another freeze, I was able to actually connect via ADB. The shell was working fine.
Anyways, I did a logcat, and I saw the attached code looping.

It just keeps looping on these audio logs.
Any thoughts?
Anyone else get logcats similar or different than this?

I had the same issue with my phones screen would just shut off and I would have to pull the battery out just to get it back on. I called tmobile and the answer I get is "that is not a known issue but def we will look into it". So all I did was go back to a tmobile store and trade it out for another one. Hopefully this won't happen again.

holy cow!! I think I just bricked my phone... I hope someone can help me.
Here's the situation. I was on the latest MIUI 1.6.17 demonSPEED v.1.2. Everything was awesome! Then today I went to my dentist and there was a sign that said that they are not in today and to call a number. I was about to call, then everything got stuck. I needed to call them, so I just did a flash in front of the dentist's office with the ROM I had on my SD card.
re-flashed v1.2 with no problem and I was about to select "reboot my phone", then I was like, oh i'll re-flash Swype as well... the swype zip got stuck for like 5 minutes during the flash (and I still needed to call the dentist). So I was like, ok I'll just pull off the battery and restart the flashing procedures...
That's when I put the battery back and the phone won't even boot up now. I'm now home (didn't even get to call my dentist yet after all that), and plugged in the charger and it won't even charge now (orange LED not turning on)... Can't even boot it in recovery. Phone is unresponsive to any buttons...
Does anyone know of any other way to even turn the phone on?
Geez, that was the Noobiest mistake ever!! All that because I had to make a call... WOw, I'm speechless thinking of my stupidity! I hope someone can help...
Thanks in advance guys!
Quite honestly dude i dont think you have much to hope for except to call tmo and tell them its broken. If its truly bricked even they cant confirm it since they cant turn it on. Only thing i think you could try is pluging it into your pc and trying to see if the pc recognizes it and lets you run adb commands or something similar. Hope this helps.

yup, the thing is that I'm not a T-Mobile customer anymore. I wonder how I'm even gonna get in contact with them to get a replacement. I remember from being their customer, that the first thing they ask you is your phone number with them. If you didn't have one, they just said they can't help you... Does that sound about right?

yeah man, that was the analysis of the customer service rep that was helping me. He thinks that the battery somehow is knocked out... That's why he's shipped out a battery. Just waiting for that to confirm that it's the battery or something else! If that doesn't solve it, I'll have to send it back to HTC for repairs. Probably won't be able to get a replacement with T-Mobile since I cancelled my account with them like 4 months ago already... but thanks for the input!
