I have searched and searched for a way to do this, and I finally figured out a
workaround.
Thanks go out to Koush and AVlev. They deserve all of the credit for developing the apps.
First I downloaded and installed Klaxon:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412669
I then moved the entire contents of \Program Files\Klaxon into the \windows folder. I copied Klaxon.exe to my pc desktop via activesync and renamed it to Clock.exe (explained later)
I changed the two install folders at HKLM\Software\Apps\Koushik Dutta Klaxon
from \Program Files\Klaxon to \Windows
I downloaded and installed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438406
As explained in the thread above, this changes the Clock.exe file in the Windows folder to Clock_sys.exe and replaces it with its own Clock.exe. Trick is that the Clock.exe can now be overwritten. I tried several different programs to overwrite this file (i.e. Total Commander) and couldn't.
AFTER INSTALLING THE ABOVE do not click on the clock or try to open it. Once it is opened it becomes a sys file agin and you won't be able to do squat with it (or atleast I couldn't on my ROM).
I then dragged the renamed Clock.exe file from my desktop into the \Windows folder via activesync, and soft reset.
Now when I click on the clock/alarms on the Now screen it brings up Klaxon.
Note: I tried to do this with G-Alarm and it wouldn't work. Clicking the clock in the now screen would bring G-Alarm up, and I could set alarms and change settings, but when an alarm would try to initiate the program would crash.
If someone who knows what they're doing could figure that out it'd be much appreciated.
EDIT: note#2- The standard WM clock settings become accessible from the programs menu after installing the second program
nice it works! ... but isn`t there an easy version?! because i can`t deinstall IPC clock!

I’m still a beginner with XDA, but starting to figure things out slowwwwwwly.
Couple of questions.
1. I’ve installed PocketZen (v3.5) and have managed to activate it. Whilst PocketZen is set up as the Today scene, how can I add custom applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Calendar etc) on the PocketZen desktop?
2. How can you apply the icons like the ones shown in the picture below? I’ve downloaded the following icon files but don’t know what to do with them :- Arjen.rar & Egypt123Icons1.rar
3. I’ve downloaded the ZenRingMode.exe file and copied into a folder called “Zen Ring Mode” within “\Program Files” folder on the XDA. I’ve managed to launch it by going in to File Exporer. Seems a bit tedious…..Is there a better way? However, once launched and you put the code in and click “Save Ring Mode”, how can you then utilise that sequence? What will the saved sequence be called? Surely not the code sequence you’ve just used????
:!: :?:
I will try to anwser your questions but I invit you to read the doc in the PocketZenPhone web site (see my signature below this post) All about custom icons ... is explained.
But to explain you directly PocketZenPhone is a today plugin it "only" allows you to switch between different phone mode.
To display shorcut I use TdLaunch.

This another plugin than PocketZenPhone. It is TdLaunch. Download it here . To add application using tdlaunch, install it then go to settings->today->items->tdlaunch->options->add

To apply icons for PocketZenPhone. Install PocketZenPhone, then open an explorer using ActiveSync and copy the incons extracted from the .rar you downloaded and copy then in Porgram files/PocketZenPhone.

ZenRingMode only allows you to test some custom Ring mode. you enter it , apply it and test when someone calls you. If the code is great you can post it on the PocketZenPhone thread on this forum.
Hope this help
Thank you very for such a fast response. Appreciate it. I’ve copied the jar files to \Program Files\PocketZenPhone as you suggested. However, nothing has happened. How do I activate new icons?

No unzip the files on your PC, then copy the pictures on your pocket.
Once done go to the PocketZenphone settings (settings->today->item->PocketZenPhone->options ...) . Exit and return to the today page ... that's it
OK. I’ve unzipped them using WinRAR and then copied them in a folder called Egypt123Icons on my PocketPC. Went into PocketZenphone settings (settings->today->item->PocketZenPhone->options ...) but could not find anything to change icons! Sorry to trouble you again but can you please help me out.
Copy them in the installation path ( \Program Files\PocketZenPhone for the english OS)
Then go to settings->today->pocketzenphone->options...
Got it at last...Thanks you....thank you very much for your patience.

No prob glad you have it working
Here's what happened...
There was an icon inside my games folder that didnt do anything. Clicking it just gave me an error (forgot the error already). I took the risk and deleted the icon. After a reset, my Games folder was showing up as an ordinary folder (no card icon below it).
Can anyone copy their Games folder and attach to this post??? Or maybe just give me the solution...
~ishtangli
maybe that's a glitch in the system files... why don't you just hard reset your phone? back up your contacts and calendar of course..
Attached is the file you have deleted. This file is the icon for the Games folder (it's actually a shortcut file). You can customize the icon of any folder by creating a file named "icon.lnk" with a content similar below:
1#ceshell.dll,-162
Using a 3rd party File Explorer (e.g. Resco), you will be able to see this file. Using the defaul File Explorer, you will only be able to see this file when you turn on "View All Files" option (tap and hold on any open area of the default File Explorer and this option will be shown on the context menu).
In my experience, this icon appears inside the Games folder when I go through Start -> Programs -> Games when the "View All Files" option is turned on. Try turning it off and this icon file disappears.
Have fun,
YajP
Marc,
It would take too long to restore all my applications and settings if i Hard Reset.
File didnt work. Placed it inside the Games folder and reset my device. Have you had experience restoring any of these icon files?
~ishtangli
Nope, didn't have such problem. I also deleted that icon.lnk in the Games folder before thinking that it was installed wrongfully by some of the 3rd party apps... to my surprise, the Games folder was reduced to an ordinary folder icon when I go to the Programs menu. So what I did was got that file from one of my colleagues, copied it to my device and tried to solve the issue of hiding that icon file. Below are the current screen shots from my pocket pc... hope it helps...
ishtangli, my ROM is still the stock one: 1.66 WWE... so am not sure if the functionality was changed in other ROM upgrades (1.72, WM2003SE) =)
that's a very possible suggestion! i think the functionality wouldnt change in other rom versions.. i'd say go with the RESCO solution
Maybe some kind soul could post their entire games folder...
~ishtangli
Here it is...
still didnt work. hmmm.... seems kinda simple but it just wont work. WM2003SE thing?!?! Whatever it is, im not hard resetting my device just to get some damn icon back. Thanks guys! If you find any solution, post it here aite...

Games Icon
Try this.
Download, unzip and copy the icon.lnk file within to the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games folder.
It is a shortcut to target the shell *.dll file that contains the icon that is displayed for the games folder: shellres.dll,-8229
So that must be the difference, the link to the icon file...
from
1#ceshell.dll,-162 (ROM1.66)
to
shellres.dll,-8229 (WM2003SE)...
Yeah

Hi. The standard File Explorer program on my unit has suddenly begun "spinning" continuously in the \Windows directory. If I kill the registry entry that holds the current dirctory, it works normally until I enter \Windows again. \Windows is accessible normally through Total Commander or ActiveSync.
Apparently something in the directory is upsetting Explorer. Any ideas on a way to fix this (I don't want to hard reset just to fix this)?
Additional info -- it appears that after quite a few minutes Explorer may finish with \Windows and display a result for an instant, but immediately exits.
Thanks.

Must be a bug with File Explorer. Could you dump a full directory list of your \Windows or try to remove your programs one-by-one, checking back every time after an uninstall to see whether the bug is still present? That'd be great for the entire PPC community (that is, finding the offending program)
This is the approach I've been taking. It's a bit tedious since whenever File Explorer gets into spinning mode in \Windows I have to soft boot to get out.
I've removed the last several programs that were installed. One of them itself caused the "infinite" spinning during the deinstallation process -- others deinstalled OK.
I've also removed some of the more recently created files in \Windows that I knew were safe to delete.
So far no change to File Explorer's behavior. It works fine except in \Windows. Total Commander still has no problems at all in \Windows, etc.
I could post the directory listing for \Windows, but it's rather long.
Just go on deinstalling - and it t doesn't work, try reinstalling everything after a hard reset
Just checked this on my Wizard (AKU3.2 bepe/KTamas ROM): FE works OK in \Windows
I know someone has the the instructions on the word "Sprint" to whatever we want it to be? Can you someone help me and anybody else out and post it please. Thanks in advance!
Can someone help me with this?
Does TF3D config or advanced config tool help you?
If it does i dont know what i need to edit or what needs to be done. I know theres an expert out there.
To change the Sprint Logo you see on the upper right of the hoem tab in TouchFlo3D, you need the following:
1 - Manila Editor from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414861
2 - The file "443d5315_manila" from your \WINDOWS\ folder on your device.
Once you have the file copied over (you can use ActiveSync if on XP, and browse to the \Windows folder on your Mobile device through My Computer - just make sure you're set to show all hidden files and system files and all that stuff - if using Vista, then it's best if you use TotalCommander on your device and copy that file to another location, such as My Documents on your device, then use My Computer and browse your phone and copy it to your desktop), start up Manila Editor and select the path containing that file.
You should see the one file show up in the list (happens to be "operator_logo.qtc").
Now, on the right side, you'll actually see the logo... 256wx64h - it's a transparent PNG, so, if you make a new graphic - make sure you create a transparent PNG... Then, in Manila Editor, click "Replace" and point it to the new graphic you've made. One complete, exit, and you'll now have to copy your new "443d5315_manila" back to the \WINDOWS folder on your phone...
If using ActiveSync and showing all hidden/system/operating system files, then you should be able to browse to the \WINDOWS folder on your mobile device via My Computer... Just drag the file, and overwrite the original.
If using Vista, then copy the file back to the My Documents folder on your device, and use Total Commander on the phone to copy it into the \WINDOWS folder on your device.
NOTE: If you're using Vista with UAC enabled, you will need to run Manila Editor as an Administrator.
Hopefully this information helps you out - I just did it a few days ago and the phone looks much nicer without that harsh yellow Sprint logo (I've put my work's logo, which, conveniently enough, matches the default blue/green theme, and looks great).
I really want to try this on my Diamond but I don;t have the 443d5315_manila in my Windows folder.
Is there somewhere I can get one? At the moment it just displays the default operator text but I want to add a logo.

This worked great. Replaced it with a pic I made.
I am currently using FingerSuite on my HTC Touch. There are two parts to the suite, one is for "menus" and the other for "pop-ups". To prevent running the program each time I had to soft reset my phone I copied the .exe file for the 'MsgBox' program (which provides a more finger friendly interface for errors that give pop-ups) and placed this in \Windows\StartUp. However, by placing the .exe file in the 'StartUp' folder the program doesn't seem to run. When a pop-up should appear (eg. for confirmation of deleting a file; Yes or No) the screen simply freezes. This, I understand, is because I should have placed the .lnk file in the 'StartUp' folder instead as it requires other files in the same folder which are missing in 'StartUp'. Unfortunately I am unaware of a way to disable FingerSuite once it is running and because of this I am unable to delete the file I have placed in the StartUp folder.
Sorry for the poor description of my problem.
Is there any way in which I can remove this file I have placed in the 'StartUp' folder? I don't want to have to hard reset my device but if there is no other way then I suppose I will have to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Alex
Nevermind, I managed to delete the file once I ran my device in Safe Mode.
