I have a Cadillac CTS that my Xperia x1a pairs too. The pairing works flawless but the bluetooth consistently turns off after a long time in the power saving mode or when it is in the charging mode. This should not occur since the Bluetooth is set to "on"...Any ideas if this is a bug or not...My bluetooth setting is set to never time out....

I use a2dp a lot with my car stereo.
Every day the phone connects to the car in handsfree mode and doesn't connect a2dp too.
so I've been running a2dp toggle each time I get in the car, and every time I complete a call (the phone disconnects at the end of calls, and reconnects only the phone part).
I've found an app that can search for devices at fixed intervals or when the device is woke up and if the selected device is discovered it will run a set app. This is an ok solution, but probably not too great for the battery.
The ideal solution would be to set the phone to always connect to a2dp on any devices it connects to, or an app that runs whenever a bluetooth connection is established (ie the handsfree connection) and would run a2dp toggle.
Does such an app exist?

BTMusic is one that helps a lot. http://maxmobilesoft.com/index.php/software/btmusic

I had the Note 3 and it interfaced very well with my 2013 Subaru Impreza stereo. The Note 4, however, will initially connect but after turning the stereo off, then back on, it will not auto reconnect. The same behavior happens when the car is turned off and on.
I must tap the stereo in the BT app to get it to reconnect and sometimes I have to turn on the phone "visibility" to get the connection to happen.
So, that means no BT phone unless I'm already listening to a BT source.
I think it is related to the newer BT stack and its low power modes.
Anyone else seen this BT behavior?
Yes, I am seeing similar behavior. My Bluetooth tends to disconnect at times, seemingly at random as well.
Also very frustrating is the fact that I can not just enter my car and have the Bluetooth auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth page and select my car from the list of devices manually. This seems primative. If there is a way to change this can someone please post it?
I've started using Tasker and it has saved my bacon. Works like a charm. I've even used it to automate turning on Slacker when I get in the car.... So, a work around...
I have no problem whatsoever while connecting to my Dodge Charger 2014 ..every time i get in the car the Note 4 auto connects... i have the viisbility timeout set to Never..
My Turbo 2 doesn't auto connect to the two BT audio devices I have (car stereo and motorola buds). It auto-connects to my Pebble fine, but I have to manually connect to the buds and the stereo each time I use them.
I can't seem to find a setting for making them autoconnect, but I could be missing something. Any tricks to get it to auto connect like my old Moto X would?
That happened to me with this phone and my car stereo. What I did to fix it (by accident) was wait until my car stereo was attempting to connect to the bluetooth and then turn the bluetooth on my phone off and then right back on. It connected right away and auto connects whenever I use my car stereo. Give it a shot.
I do know if u don't set as a trusted device it won't auto connect on mine.

I didn't expect that to work, but it did.
:good:
Noticed with Sync (Ford) it sometimes pauses and I have to turn BT off then on.
UPDATE: Turn off all the moto assist stuff, no more problems.
I have a N6P, rooted 6.0.1 with Xposed. I use MacroDroid to automate some processes. E.g. I have a macro that enables bluetooth whenever I leave the house and my phone disconnects from the home wifi network. In my car I use a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth voice kit. I want my phone to automatically connect to the kit whenever bluetooth on my phone is enabled and I start my engine (and the Parrot becomes powered). Whenever I switch on bluetooth manually and it is on for some time and I get into my car and start the engine, my phone connects to the Parrot without any problems.
I also have a macro which actions are that a sound is played and it vibrates whenever the phone connects to my Parrot. But whenever I leave my house, I can see that my bluetooth is enabled but when I get into my car and start the engine, I can hear the sound and feel the vibration of the MacroDroid macro, but the screen of the Parrot still shows the Parrot logo and not the name of my phone. So MacroDroid confirms that a connection has taken place (otherwise there wouldn't be any sound and vibration), but in fact the phone and Parrot are not connected. Going then into BT settings and trying to connect manually works in 50% of the cases.
I have also tried AutomateIT to get this working, but with the same outcome. And the app Bluetooth Auto Connect (to force the connection) didn't bring any luck either.
Because when enabling BT manually before I leave the house the connection succeeds and when using the macro it does not (neither in MacroDroid not in AutomateIT), I suspect that it may have something to do with the (short) time between the enabling of BT and the powering on of the Parrot, but I'm not sure.
Anyone any ideas?
I'm having problems during the initial pairing of any BT device. The phone finds no BT devices at all. Turning BT off/on doesn't work. Toggling airplane mode fixes the issue for the time being and allows pairing. It's only slightly annoying since once the device is paired, it connects without a problem.
Is anyone else facing this issue? The update from this week didn't fix the issue. The phone is stock.

No issues at all. Pairs perfectly with galaxy 2 watch, car stereo, headset and home speaker system..
Sent from my ONEPLUS 6T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I don't have the same issue, but I can't seem to be able to pair the device with my car. It connects to both of my Bluetooth headphones just fine. The car name shows up in my Bluetooth devices list under pairing mode, but when I click it, nothing happens. Let me know if anyone else is having a similar problem.
I'm having the exact same issue with two 6Ts, one from T-Mobile and the other directly from OnePlus. Both are up to date with regards to firmware.
Its almost like the Bluetooth stack is crashing sometime after booting or cycling airplane mode because it works for a little while and then stops.
Same issue here.
Doesn't see some devices.
Constantly re-asks if I will share my contacts with my car.
My pixel 2 didn't have these issues with the same devices, so I know it's just the op6t.
Had this issue. Glad there was a work around. What a pain in the neck.
Same having BT issues where it loses the pairing and I have to repair device.
BT Connection Drop
I am having the same problem of connectivity dropping and then getting reconnected all of a sudden. Can anyone tell me how to fix this for now? Also, any planned upgrades in future for the same?
People, I need help. I can't pair my oneplus 6t with any Bluetooth device. Whenever I try to pair it says: couldn't pair with XXX because of incorrect PIN or passkey. I tried every possible solution I found on the internet (reset Bluetooth, reset phone, reset network settings, wipe cache, etc) and no luck. All Bluetooth devices are functional and I am able to connect them to my Samsung phone, but no luck with oneplus 6t. I am running oxygenOs 9.0.13 and none of my Bluetooth devices has the pin code. Please help, this is really frustrating ?
