Thanks for the info. It's weird, that the file date still seems to be Jan. 7, 2009 (which is when people were having problems with it). However, I installed it just now and it worked fine.
Here is the link for other people.
Yes, can confirm! The new fix works fine. Release Date is the same, but filesize is different.
Works fine!

Do I need to uninstall the old version of this hotfix first? If so, which one is it? I've got three on the device:
BLA00241
BLA02889
BLA03337
Or can I just install the new version on top of the old hotfix?
Unistall Hotfix BLA03337 (slider fix) and the antifix(if you installed it), then download and install the new slider hotfix from htc support.

no, I overwrite the new one without unistalling the prev version.
it's BLA03337, if you want unistall it before use te new hotfix.
That's strange the UK got 4 fixes and when I look on the dutch site I only see 2
Is it still possible to download them ? even if there are english
Installed again and now the video caller icon appears again.
Thkx for the tip
Unfortunately, I unistalled the old hotfix (the one which messed up the videocall button) before installing the "new" hotfix, and now I cannot install it anymore: it says "please use the correct version". And BTW the text is still there... any ideas?
Does anybody still have the old version of the hotfix, such that I can try to reinstall it?
** EDIT:
I managed to get rid of the hotfix and have the video call button back thanks to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468608

How was this link found? The download does not exist in HTC when trying to find it from a number of routes. It always says the message "There are currently no software downloads available in this category."
Anyway, thanks for the link. My serial number worked and I have flashed the ROM. As has already been noted it looks the same as the one udk released recently.

Just a quick question about the new Rom Update.
I'm currently waiting for T-Mobile to release there version of the Rom update from version 1.43 to 1.66.
I can get a copy of the 1.66 official Rom Update from the HTC website (my mate has a HTC HD2 which is unbranded).
Could i update my Rom using the download? Would it cause any problems to the phone?
Many thanks.
any noticed anything different?
I have an Uk version on O2 but its not taking my serial... any ideas?
surely I don't have to wait the O2 customised rom?
Does this at all stop the sluggishness and freezing from time to time
O2 and VF both run locked ROMs - the S/Ns need to be cleared by O2/VF/HTC to allow download...
any workarounds? ;-D

For future reference, it tells you the max ROM version that you need the hotfixes for, on the page where you download them.
In this instance, there haven't been any that have had a ROM version higher than 1.66, so no - you don't need them

I haven't found anything noticeable except a lower screen sensitivity and some value added applications.
Before I update my ROM, I read this
"The update will take up to 30 minutes, DO NOT interrupt the update process, make/receive phone calls, disconnect the device from the PC, or press any buttons until the process has been completed."
And wondered how I can stop any incoming calls, messages, mails etc. Should I just put it into airplane mode or something?

I installed the HK hotfix and no harm has been done (i.e. it's better than the last one, which produced monster text in my SMS folders). I can send SMS messages; but then I could before as long I kept the inbox below ten messages.

It says ROM version less than 1.66.XX, so its safe to assume that people on 1.66 dont need it.
I am on 1.66 and have not experienced any problems as such..
Installing it for about 10 minutes now.. not finished yet!
If they wont release 1.66 for Germany, it´d be a bad joke.
Edit: to anyone who installed it: Does the Hotfix appear under Software at the settings?
My device restarted itself after 15 minutes of installation.. no idea if it worked
I'm downloading this as we speak...could anyone tell us if it's necessary for us to uninstall any of the previous two hotfixes? any separate differences (such as radio upgrade and what not that's not apparent from the hotfix "title"?). The last hotfix that was taken down took up a lot of memory, so worried that this will take even more.

No it doesnt show under remove programs and a reboot once finished is normal. It should be installed.
When I install this fix on a german ROM will the SMS Client be german then? The hotfix is not available form the german htc site...
can someone who applied the update please provide the build number of the

I installed the hotfix on Dutty's 1.3 ROM,
It last 2 minutes.
After softreset the SMS program is now 1.5 but It was already 1.5 on Dutty's ROM!
BUT when replying to a SMS to a contact with a large amount of received sms, it is almost instantly possible to reply (write)! The messages are loaded very very quickly!
could it be the same as the one that was pulled? it still says LEO8007 like the one before this

I have instaleld this on an italian 1.48 rom and got the new version of the sms application: will see how it works and if all is good won't upgrade to 1.66 for now
After installing the new 1.66 ROM, is it necesarry to install the peviously released hotfixe's, or are these already implemented in the newest ROM?
Already integrated.
Depending on your language, however, the latest SMS fix (of 24/01) has to be applied, too. If you are using a cooked rom with 1.66 base you'll also have to install the latest SMS hotfix.
Doesn't say it's for the UK WWE 1.66 ROM and it's not on the UK support page so not gonna bother unless it appears...I delete every SMS after reading anyway so never been an issue...
EDIT: OK, I lie it is there, didn't see it beneath the ROM update itself. Might give it a go, can't hurt can it?

If you are using the version they have in their support section, you as UK client don't need to apply it .
It is in the support page BUT if you click on the download button it goes back to the Support front end so guessing it's not needed as I've got the new ROM...

It normally states in the update which ROM it applies to. Which means that all of them (excluding the Valendar View) don't need to be applied to 1.66.
The only one which doesn't is the Calendar View update which says
"Note: This update is only applicable to all ROM Version" now I don't beleive this as they would surely apply it to a ROM.
Maybe someone else can help whith this one.

Yes, because the UK version has been released AFTER the SMS update, you are already good to go and fully updated. However, in other countries the ROM update came earlier and the new SMS fix is probably not in those yet.
Thanks for the help.
I'm on the Norwegian ROM, so i guess I'm ok then. (Sms update has been removed from HTC site after the ROM update came out.)

I second that. Send a mail to HTC yesterday to make sure the WWE rom update I was about to download already contained previous updates and they replied that it wasn't necessary to install them again. (It was in Dutch so that's why I'm not attaching the mail).

Greetings to you all...
I apologise ahead of time, my noobness is about to show through...
I will be getting my HD2 on the 3rd from Phones4U with a Vodafone contract and will be wanting to do the ROM update to 1.66. I am wondering about the following things:
1. Has this gone wrong for anyone and should it go wrong what is the fix?
2. Having never done this before and not wanting to get it wrong - does the downloaded update have all the tools I need to do the update? Or is there a specific piece of software I need from HTC?
3. Tried to follow this thread regarding the new SMS update and am not sure regarding the outcome - if I am on ROM 1.66 do I need to do the SMS update as well?
Thanks in advance for all willing to answer what are probably basic question - this is my first real smartphone and I am keen beyond belief but also do not want to mess it up...
P.S. Is there a manual in the box? (ROLL ON WEDNESDAY!)
Scott (In anticipation)
Double post - sorry!
Hi,
I got my HD2 from Dial-A-Phone (Phones4U) and it was an unlocked version so all updates from HTC are available. It'll likely come with the 1.48 ROM on it so first thing to check is whether this is correct. Go into Settings>About phone>Software version and it'll be in there.
Assuming yu are on 1.48 then go to the HTC UK support site and download the ROM update from the 25/01/2010. The other updates are rolled into this so you don't need them.
HTC UK Support - HD2
Now, charge up your phone and connect to your PC. If using Vista/Windows 7 it should recognise it being a Windows Phone and connect up using the Windows Mobile Device Center. Once done, make sure it says connected and then run the ROM file (which is an .exe file) and follow the instructions.
If, however, the phone is already on 1.66 then nothing more is needed!!
Excellent - really appreciate your feedback - I am, for once, wishing my weekend away so that Wednesday will get here quicker...

Turn phone off, Hold the Vol Down button and turn on the phone. This will put it into bootloader mode with multicolour screen.
Plug the phone into windows and the serial should change to usb on the phone, then run the rom.
Good luck

Wasn´t it meant to be pubished via Zune or online-update???
I thought windows phones should update itself with new updates.
I´m not sure if I shouldn´t better wait for an update via the official way.
It´s not that I flashed my HD2 hundred times without problems but I´m thinking if it wouldn´t be easier to update the "normal" way. Does anyone know whether the normal update style would backup settings and mails so that you don´t have to recreate everything on your own???

they CAN update the radio/spl by air but I think that will come from your operator .
so HTC makes an update and sent it to your operator , the operator is signing the update (vendor ID) and then or sent it to MS (I think for releasing it over Zune) or release it on the operator website/by air
