New Tytn Owner: some question

Hi everyone,
last week i got my new Tytn (italian version).
I'm not new in WM5 devices, my last device was a K-jam.
Now i can't remember some things that was very usefull with my K-jam, like:
1. where i can get the cab file that enables the BT icon in today(in the bottom)?
2. How i can use Mp3 as ringtone?
3. Where i can find the registry mods to enable the vibraton phone pad?
4. and also where i can get a freeware registry util?

google "phm regedit" or install the free taskmgr located on buzzdev.net. It has a very good registry editor plus a whole lot more functionality

i've downloaded the related .cab file, soft reset but nothing changed.
it doesn't work.
I also remeber that there is a third part software that also enable the vibratign pad, can someone remeber the name?

but i don't like the graphic of the pad. i'd like a plug-in for the existing pad or maybe something graphically better that the existing one.

BTW, did you check from the Today menu if that item was actually installed and is present, but not checked?

Very easy to do - slightly undocumented feature
Navigate into the \Application Data\Sounds\ folder on your phone and drop the MP3 there - it will then show up in your ringtone list
I tend to edit the mp3's down to about 30 seconds of the song I want and save them as mono and at a low bitrate so they don't take up a lot of space on the phone but you don't have to do this - just realize that if you put a bunch of MP3's on there, you'll fill up your internal storage pretty quickly if you don't, but if you just want one there it shouldn't be a big deal.

Convert it into .wav and put in the \windows directory

go to google and type in xda-developers "Settings+"when you write Settings+ he shows you Settings, if you put it in " " he only shows Settings+

Changing a file's "open with" program?

Hey all,
I can't find the right search string for this. If there is a thread, I'm sorry in advance. Does anyone know how to change the default program a file opens with? Opera 9.5beta stole my default browser so IE no longer works when I click .html , and documents to go stole my default office document extension so office mobile no longer opens anything by default. Is there a setting somewhere which lets you change this? Thanks.

You can use Schaps Advanced configuration tool to make these changes. You can change your default browser and file associations.

thanks for your prompt reply Is there any other way to do this? Advanced Config seems to conflict with some other stuff I have on my touch already, and I don't want to uninstall it. Is there any way to do this through registry?

Or if you want more options, try Total Commander CE it can also set file icon etc.

Resco Explorer 2008 problem?

i am using resco explore 2008 now.
but i encounter some problem which is some files in the Window folder i cant see from resco explorer where else i can see in from File Explorer? for example, some manila file in the Window Folder. what is wrong? any setting required?
same problem occurred no matter i installed the the resco on the device or memory card.. please help..

Menu/options/general. Then go to the browser tab and uncheck everything.

No problem at all. Another tip that you might want to know is that you can keep the alphabet scroll always on by unchecking the auto hide scroller enabled option (Menu/option/customize under the general tab), whille keeping the enable touch scrolling and letter navigation scroller options ticked.
I find having it on all the time useful. I can very quickly go to the file name that I want, similar to searching the contact database. Make sure that you sort by name though.

another question regarding mms setting, i cant receive mms now, i dint disable it on the HD Tweak, any setting i need to set in order to receive the mms?

Suggest you start a new thread for the mms question, and limit this thread to the Resco explorer problem.

Hi, i have another problem.

443d5315_manila. i am using Singapore telco, so i not sure whether you will have this manila file or not, it is the logo of the telco.

No, I don't have that manila file but I can see many other manila files. I don't see why this manila file has to be different from the other manila files though. If it is there, it should show up since the others with same file attributes are showing.

is there a way to edit a .mp3 file in WM? i haven't used WM in a while and i know that i have edited a.mp3 album name b4 i just forgot how to.

I would like to know this as well cause I'm trying to find a way to make ringtones.

I think maybe you two are talking about different things here:
zellbz, you want to edit the ID3 tags on the mp3's, so the correct info shows for album, artist, etc, right? If so, then THIS is the only one I've found. It's a playlist maker, but it also has the ability to edit ID3 v1.1 tags, can't do v2 yet.
jayvo, it sounds like you want to trim MP3's so you can use them that way, yes? If so you can try the attached cab...I know it works on the TP2 and many other recent HTC winmo phones, you're welcome to give it a try on your HD2
