New Tytn Owner: some question - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi everyone,
last week i got my new Tytn (italian version).
I'm not new in WM5 devices, my last device was a K-jam.
Now i can't remember some things that was very usefull with my K-jam, like:
1. where i can get the cab file that enables the BT icon in today(in the bottom)?
2. How i can use Mp3 as ringtone?
3. Where i can find the registry mods to enable the vibraton phone pad?
4. and also where i can get a freeware registry util?
Thanks everyone

well, I can answer a few for you:

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=241898&hl=

i've downloaded the related .cab file, soft reset but nothing changed.
it doesn't work.
I also remeber that there is a third part software that also enable the vibratign pad, can someone remeber the name?
thnaks

There's an application mentioned in the post I linked to above.
Check the first reply.
EDIT: Here it is... http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/d9.shtml

Yes, thanks for the link.
but i don't like the graphic of the pad. i'd like a plug-in for the existing pad or maybe something graphically better that the existing one.
thanks

Very easy to do - slightly undocumented feature
Navigate into the \Application Data\Sounds\ folder on your phone and drop the MP3 there - it will then show up in your ringtone list
I tend to edit the mp3's down to about 30 seconds of the song I want and save them as mono and at a low bitrate so they don't take up a lot of space on the phone but you don't have to do this - just realize that if you put a bunch of MP3's on there, you'll fill up your internal storage pretty quickly if you don't, but if you just want one there it shouldn't be a big deal.

yes i know this feature.... but how i can do it to use an MP3 as SMS allert?
thanks

Convert it into .wav and put in the \windows directory

"Phone Profiles" ring tones...

I wanted to use this Profile manager but it appears it does not like my mp3 ringtone plugin, so when seting up the profile it does not allow you to select them. I don't want to convert them to wave to save on space... does any one know of a way round this? Or even of a similar profile manager, I have search but am still in the dark.
link to app
Hi - I use the same app.
The only workaround is to place the mp3 in the \windows directory and they will show up on the list then.
Alternatively if you did not want all your mp3's in the \windows directory (will use up storage memory) you could create asx links to each mp3 (the mp3's could be stored on the storage card) rename the asx to wma or mp3 and place that in the \windows and it will work.
I am sure there is an imminent new release of this app with a fix to this.
If you want me to take you through the second way of sorting this out - I will.

Ok try what I said above, but often when you set region to united kingdom you cannot get day of the week displayed.
2 fixes
1. Change region to say new zealand and you will get day displayed (this might interfere with some other settings)
OR
2. Edit HKLM\nls\overides in the registry. and add dddd in front of format already present in SLDte
If you or anyone else is not up to registry editing I will post a cab that will make these changes for you.

Disable WM6 Startup Sound

I auto-soft reset my Touch at 2 am.
When the title screen for WM comes up that music wakes me up...
How do I disable the WM6 Startup Sound?
Thanks!
I found the culprit = PhoneOn.wav.
I tried deleting the Key for the .wav in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
but did not work.
I also tried to delete PhoneOn.wav with Total Commander but its protected from deletion in some way....aaaaargh!
Please help
I would like to no how to. I do the same thing.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation\Enabled
Set it to 0 for off, 1 for on.

Are the registry edits you making actually getting written? Are you powering off the device after making the edits or just soft resetting?
Verify that the changes are made after booting by reviewing the entries again.

Slim,
I rebooted and the entry is getting written. I then soft reset and that darn music is still playing -- are you on a Touch (Vogue)??
thanks
This worked for me
This is what I just did, seems to work fine.
1) Use Total Commander to search for the registry key which contains sound_on.
or browse to
\HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\FlightModeOnOff\Sound_on
2) Change the content of that key from "SoundOn.wav" to "silence.wav"
3) Done.
I now get a nice and quiet soft reset. I'm using the HTC Touch / Vogue.
Leon.
Sorry dude, I am using a Tilt. I pulled the reg keys from the ROM kitchen I use to build my ROM; however, I HATE the stupid startup animation and sound, so I never cook it in to my builds.
The calls for your startup animation must be somewhere else.
Try ibloo's solution...I will look around a bit and see if I can find out why those reg edits I suggested don't work for you.

FOR HTC PURE,
Here is how to replace the annoying AT&T startup noise with any sound file of your own choice:
Edit the registry at following location:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
Change StartupWav to any other wav files.
Remember..
When you are making changes to the registry...
-exit the registry editor
-give it a good 10 seconds or so, then hit the power button (to blank the screen). This allows the registry settings to bake/get applied.
-Then, do a soft reset.
Else.. if you do it too quick, the changes may not apply/stick.

Hi Chemist
Found this one but what I really want is NO sound at all. How do I achieve that? Can I just remove the reference to the existing .WAV file or do I have to replace it with a .WAV that is empty, ie, no sound? If that is the case do you know where I can get hold of one or how I could make one?
Thanks in advance.

Here you go. Use this cab and it will give you no sound. For those that want to do it without a cab
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"StartupWav"="\\Windows\\none"

[REF] HTC Album - how to hide folders from

not many responses to this thread, so i don't know if anyone cares
but here is the solution, not too hard
1. on your phone fire up your favorite Registry Editor
2. go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
a. if Ignored key doesn't exist create it
3. create a new String Value and name it anything you like
example: igo
4. set the Data for the new value to the full path of the folder to be ignored
example: \Storage Card\iGO8
note: all sub-folders will be ignored as well
5. restart your phone
note: the folder and it's sub-folders will not show up in Album
now that i can carry thousands of my photos with me
i realize that HTC Album gets crowded with sub-folders/albums
most are sub-folders with my photos and i guess i have to live with that
but also some system and miscellaneous folders show up
simply put a lot of finger scrolling
is there a way to hide / ignore certain sub-folders from HTC Album?
bumping
because i'd like to know if this is possible
i figured if windows and program files are hidden from the list,
there has to be a way to hide other unwanted folders
I don't think there is a way on the HD without something like resco explorer but, on your PC change the folder or file attribute to hidden before transferring to your HD.
bumping the solution
Thanks, this is great tip
tagging this so I can find it after each reflash
If you just want to keep photos out of TF3D album (so it will still appear in albums if ytou launch HTC Album but not in the TF3D tab) and it's easier: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1789
yopu just pick a folder as your favorite.

Hi, great tip by the way. Managed to hide the images coming from gAlarm. Is it possible to have the same thing for Music? I dont want those sound files from a third party app to be included in the ALL music tab, my quick fix is to use a playlist Thanks.
Excellent tip mate, surprised you haven't had many other responses!!
You are the Man!!!
I have been looking for away to do this for ages.
Ahh cool. Can this be made into some kind of batch file, so when you flash it can be added right back in?
Actually, is there a way to ignore everything and add the folders you want to include?

after you populate it the way you like export the Registry KEY
import after flash,
or
convert to XML or CAB and install
these topics are covered better elsewhere in this forum,
search for "UC or user customization" or SASHIMI

Improvement of audio bluetooth quality

Hello all,
sorry for this post, but I am really unhappy. I did lot of research here and via Google too. Well known problem is poor bluetooth audio quality (I am using KOSS UR-40 and small SE headphones). I have new TP2 and high tones via BT are deformed (I can't stand that sound!!!)... I tried cab files from here but it doesn't work for me. (anyway - then TF3D didn't start + no improvement)
Some ideas? Please... I am very thankful for each help!!!
Some tips for regs? Some new drivers?
have you tried adding the DWORD "LineSpeed" with a value of 320 to HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV\ ?
U are clever!!! Thanks a lot!!!

modifying the registry / total commander
Hey j393567 ,
I found this by trial, if you use total commander & go to the directory as posted above. In Total Commander, there is an option to +add+ if you hold down / or double click on the +add+; then a new screen will pop up & ask you if you want to "Dword" . I just type in the "linespeed". Another screen will pop up & ask for a value, this is where I entered "320". This should save the new entry.
I am using a Sony/Ericsson HBH-DS205. Move up from a Fuze & now trying on the Tilt2
Im using a TP2 on verizon and cant seem to find the folder HKLM. Yes im a total noobster. Please help thank you!

Here is a cab for it.
Now for the " Learn to do it on my own" Part of the post. First thing you need is a mobile reg editor. I use Total commander, But there are others. Open total commander and click on Plug ins, you will see 3 folders HKCR, HKCU, and HKLM. Click on HKLM then go to software and click there, then WIDCOMM, then Plugin, Then AV, Now click on add, Type in Linespeed in the boxes below put a dot in Dword. Click ok. A box will pop up make the value 320 and click ok. Now reboot and your done.
Thank you very much Zelendel!!!!

I prefer not to use cabs though as i like to know exactly what i am doing when tweaking and would prefer not to decompile the cab to see exactly wtf is going on!
I take it that cab replaces the wav file all together?
If you didnt want to do this you can simply go to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation\StartupWav
and edit the name of the wav file in that key ( i added a character to its file name so it would be easy to change back if needed.)

Yeah, tell me about it! What's the point of putting a startup sound if it stutters? It makes the whole device look cheap right from its first powerup.
All my cab does is replace the wav file with a tiny silent one, therefore saving precious ROM space. It works fine for me, and I've not had any complaints so far.
Where is startup tone located?
Hi
Could someone tell me which folder the startup tone is located? I wanted to replace it with my own wav.
Thanks
