Guys,
First of all thanks to all contributors on this site.
Now let me mention that i'm not artistic at all, hence i depend a lot on all the great skinners here to make my device look neat.
My question is : I'd like to have the Tab bar disappear from HTC Home if i only have 1 Tab. Actually let's just make it disappear. Is it possible? The reason is that i just want to use the Home screen as i use other softs for Weather, Launcher and Contacts. That would save quite a bit of space on today.
If anyody has done it or knows how to do it, please let me know.
Thanks
Matt
the closest thing ive found is pocket digital clock a couple threads below... or the batterystatus theme i use in my iStyle theme

Goto post #1 of that thread and download the zip file for the original theme and extract the htc files and overwrite them in your device. You should probably disable htc home plugin first then re-enable. You might have to soft-reset as well.
Hm...all it did was make it 1 tab, it did not make my tabs disappear
i suggest you check out UltimateLaunch, ditch htchome and use a small clock or something like RLToday. I chose to use RLToday for just a clock and messages notifier
I also would like to see this. I have been looking for this for a long time.
I'm interested also.
As Michaelr219 suggested above, search for "pocket digital clock". I've been using it for a few days and it works well. It takes up less space also.
I highly recommend using batterystatus theme:

There are lots to choose from and some look much better than HTC home.
yeh, batterystatus and it's themes are very cool & flexible!!
hello!
is there an app for pocket pc that displays a today plugin twice? I mean like having
two pocket msn plugins at a time on the SAME today screen??
please answer anybody
thank you...
Only know of SK Today Commander which allows you to configure multiple Today profiles, meaning you could have the same plugin on each of your Today profiles but you can only use one profile at a time. Same plugin on the same Today profile shown twice?? Nope, I don't think that's possible, but I may be wrong...

Could they be switch on events ?
Let's say one profile for portrait and another one for landscape, and it would switch auto. on rotation ? That would be very cool for themes

ok!! thanks for the replies,
one last question, if its not posible to activate
two plugins on the same today, then at least I could try changing the name of the today plugins, and installing another without overwritting,
Is it possible? how can I do it?
Have you tried Ultimatelaunch - I know you can put multiple plugins on one page; however, have not tried to put the same plugin twice.
I am gonna try this to see.
OK, I was successful in having the window's live search today plugin twice on the same page using UltimateLaunch. To do so you must create a new page with combination tabs - Just to add two today plugins. It worked for me.
Rod
Use Samsung Time. You can press and hold the clock to access the settings. You can choose your choice of 2 time zones. I have attached it for you.
You can display a plugin only once on a screen. Some launchers, like WAD, have a portrait and landscape view. Either way, even if you had the same plugin twice, it can only be configure once, so you would just have a duplicate.

As I mentioned earlier, I did have the exact same plugin working twice on the same page using Ultimatelaunch. I agree though, that they would both be configured exactly the same. I did not test using a different plugin on the same page twice, how it would react. I have one page in my ultimatelaunch setup displaying 2 different plugins and it works great; however, personally have no need to display the same plugin twice on the same page.
you're right I haven't thought that way,
they'll have the same configuration and it will be just a duplicate.
but I have an idea, I think if I could change the first plugin's name and install the second they will appear like diferent plugins and have separeted options
what do you think? is it possible, may be editing the registry.

Hey, that would be sweet. Might be worth a try. (Perhaps a new thread is warranted for this though?) Better do some reading first to see if this has already been done.
I've actually thought about this. I think it would be cool to have 2 rotating cubes of ultimate launch on the today screen. That would make ultimate launch the ultimate app for me!

I'm sure there is a lot more than changing the name. Plugins use .dll's for configuration.

Yeah, it's a good app, Infact - If you want to get some screenshots and/or a personal review see here:

please ask questions in the QUESTIONS thread next time.
I've been searching for days, and have read tons of stuff here over the past few days. Thanks to all the previous posters and those that can answer my questions below. I'm looking to replace HTC home on my XV6800 and have tried quite a few things. I won't bore you with the list or my thoughts on each, but I've basically settled on Homescreen ++ on top (clock, indicators, BT toggle) with UL on the bottom with tabs to hold spb diary, weather panel, app shortcuts, and fcontacts.
I am using Homescreen ++ UI 1.06.345 RC 2. Should all the the themes on this board work with this version? I realize they all refer to Battery Status, but should they work with this newer version, no? Is HS++ backward compatible with older themes? I find that most of the themes that I've tried do not work. Most buttons don't do what they should and the screens don't transition to other panels as shown in the screen shots. I understand that some of the app shortcuts won't work as I don't have all of the apps installed, but some of the ones I do have also don't work. I find it hard to believe that people have uploaded faulty themes as it's clear that a lot of work and pride goes into these things. I have to feel there is something I'm doing wrong.
What's the best way to debug these skins?
Would most of you recommend using UL to rotate and do tabs instead of trying to do all of that in HS++ itself? To me it looks like setting up the app shortcuts is easier in the UL.
For the record I am using the official Verizon ROM update, but I hope that does not make a difference.
Thanks,
John

Thanks

That's all I meant. They would know better and Ikarus (the developer) might be able to help. He's a great person and usually answers most all questions.
I ran HS++ with Floyd and Ravest themes in combination with Pocket Plus w/o any problems prior installing TF2D.
I ran HS++ with Floyd and Ravest themes in combination with Pocket Plus w/o any problems. You may have to tweak the one or the other line of the XML file but so far so good. Now I installed TF2D and I guess I'll never will go back.
But in general HS++ and themes is the way to go if you don't like/use SPB's mobile shell.
I'm suprised not to find a request for this when searching. I need to increase the number of quick links on the Sense home tab. I've just used my last one and need some more.
Can anyone help with this?
Edit: Probably worth mentioning - I've already got the 4x4 quicklinks mod installed. I'm ideally looking for another page, but 5x5 will do for now
With Max Manila 2.519202525 Ultimate you can have up to 20 quick links.

Thanks, but it's overkill. I have had that installed, and I just didn't like it.
I'm sure there'll be some way to extend it, without having to add all the other stuff that comes in that mod.
Would be nice to have someway of having a second page you could flip down to (a bit like the iphone has flip across...)

My thoughts exactly, but that sounds like a massive reworkinging to me. I think to get 5x5 would simply be a case of someone "in the know" modding the existing manila.
For the time being you can get 4X4. It's in the stickies.

The contact pics is still an issue, but since the people tab is the next tab along, I personally don't see the point in having contacts on the home page.
I don't know if the wallpaper issue still exists with the 4x4 cab on the stickied tweaks page, but I can confirm that if you use HDWall to get a background on all tabs, that definitely works.
HDWall
I like to have my girlfriends contact shortcut on the homescreen, so its kinda important to me...
I've seen a post with a 5x4 arrangement where contact pics work, but it has two different cabs, but no indication which works with the HD2.
Anyone?

Fair comment about the gf on the shortcut. Didn't think of that.

Awesome, thanks heaps for that.
EDIT: 20 shortcuts works, doesn't appear to affect any other homescreen UI, and contact images display properly. Good thing I tried it, turns out 16 shortcuts would have been woefully inadequate. Didn't realise quite how quickly I had accumulated apps...
Imagine...
HTC Sense with your own widgets.
HTC sense already includes the following:
Home, SMS, Mail, Weather, Twitter, Footprints, Settings, and more.
But what if they would finally made it possible to let us make our own widgets?
This would seriously beat the crap our every other phone!
We would have:
Radio, ebay, MusicID, Newspapers, webcam view, translator and alot more.
Or a simple "Applications" Tab, where we find another bar with more tabs for putting apps into "folders"(tabs).
Its real sad htc have not made a SDK, or other kind of function to create our own tabs.
I personally think HTC sense is the best UI out there. the best i have seen on any mobile phone, but lacks the ability to customize it ourselfs.
Is it possible to hack the Sense UI to make this possible? (if someone can do this im happy to donate about 20 dollars, and i think more people are)
If not, we should make a large email, or online voting system to anyways draw the attention of HTC as a large company.
And yes, i know the other UI's available for windows mobile. But HTC sense is just....quietly brilliant
it seems to be possible to add new bars to the sense / touch flo.
as you can see when you use the manila tv player!
i think people should just start designing their apps for it, and maybe some experienced dev. could give an short tut how to find what you need to fasten the development

Okay, I'll make it a simple choice for you then.
No, you cannot currently add your own tabs to the Sense UI. It may become possible in the future, but it is highly unlikely, and the most likely event is that you get 1 or 2 additions to the tabs, but not something that you specifically want.
If you want either your iPhone or customizable tabs on the HD2, stick with your iPhone.

Personally, I don't have any interest in this happening. Since I can have lots of apps running at the same time and flick between them with a couple of clicks, it's actually easier to do that than it would be to put everything on the Sense UI.
Also, the Start menu is always 1 simple button click away, and that has everything on the phone listed.
I just don't think that this is a big deal.
It is possible, there's just no SDK, so it is complicated. If you want an SDK, please turn to HTC.
Personally, I don't use Sense at all, so I would not want that people develop pages for Sense instead of real WM applications.
I use the WM Default interface and TaskFacade to switch between open programs, which is much more convenient than scrolling through HTC Sense tabs, at least for me.
And by the way, if you need a reason to switch to the HD2, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsQHRtUtW0c&feature=player_embedded
That alone is enough of a reason to switch.

well as i said i like the sense feel, theme and Gui the most of all things i have tried on all phones.
And im not talking about task switching here but improving htc sense by adding custom tabs.
i like the windows mobile default interface for task switching, but i will use HTC sense for launching a app, and watching the weather, twitter, newspapers, TV, and many stuff like that, if it was possible.
I found Max Manilla makes customizing the HTC sense possible a bit, but not completly. Il try contacting him but i think its gonna be hard to implent.
As I said, you can add your own tabs, there's just no SDK to make it easy.
Look at stuff like this:

It would be so great to have one page where all your programs were. Where you could organize them in folders and launch widgets from. We totally need to make this happen.
Oh wait, anyone ever hear of THE START MENU? It's faster than sliding to a Manila tab and has more functionality in one location.

And it doesnt fit with the design. Yes, i care about beauty and design.
Starting a program is definately not the same, as if the information you r lookin for was directly shown in a sense tab. Its not just the look but also the feeling, that it is somehow integrated in your home screen and you dont have to start a program for that (always hated the app-binded UI on iphone). But the major factor is, that sense-functionalities might be connected with each other (p.ex. calendar and home-tab, footprints and album), which has not been done too well yet .
In my opinion it would for example just be nice to have a newspaper-tab where you can slide through different newspapers (like the accounts in email-tab) with a little overview of whats inside today, tap to chose one and scroll through the articles, be notified if theres somethin you are interested in and so on...
But i also have to state, that i am already quite happy with sense as it is and that wishes like these might be too far away...
I hope many new tabs will be created in the future.
I just need one more tab that list current running programs. So i don't have to press any buttons.

meh thats where i want to use the normal windows tak switcher for.
I´d like a tab with applications, that includes another bar with more tabs for categories.
Here's your solution... sort of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616415
That creates a Manila tab where you can add any standard Windows Mobile today screen plugins (like RSS readers etc.).
