HTC touch frozen on bootup

all i get is the telus boot screen and thats it. is there anyway to flash the rom onto it? or restart it some how?ive tried to take out the battery and restart it that way and still boot screen.

I think you can do a hard reset by holding the "power button", "end key", and pressing the reset "pinhole" at the same time.

have you tried getting into bootloader by pressing power/camera/reset?

when did this start happening?

The same thing happened to me today... Im frozen at the htc smart mobility boot up screen and nothing works!

if your phone was older and you tried to flash a GPS rom without installing the GPS radio then you would freeze up a the bootscreen
the remedy for that would be to install the 3.42 radio ROM

I think I have same problem.
Anyone have a link where I could find that & install instructions to make sure I don't screw up more?

This happened to me too. I ended up having to reflash it like everyone said.

My htc hd2 is stuck on the boot up screen,tried pressing the end key and the red reboot button at the same time but still no progress,still stuck.....what now? help please

@OP,
First things first, did you unlock the device before flashing? Also, are you sure that you have a Vogue and not an Elf/Elfin?
A quick way to get out of your issues would be to try to flash the phone back to stock. Put the device in bootloader mode and flash a stock rom for your device.

I tried to update my Shadow by the new wm6.1 rom.. the first time it went to 100% and restart with an error 270 : the image is corrupt . After, when I boot loader, it go to 2% and restart every time ( many) :
I'm stucked at bootloader mode and tried many roms but no one sucsess ... all of them reach 2% and then stopped.
even I tried the original one (Shadow_Software_Update_1.11.531.5.exe) from t-mobile official site but also same result.
so can any one help me and give me any solution to try?

I already tried to do this but...
* How can I upload sspl/uspl to my phone from bootloader because it's the only mode I can work my phone?
* when I tried to do USPL + RUU it go to 100% and then the phone restart and the RUU program says corrupted image...
then the phone stays in it's state (only can go to bootloader mode).
can I use MTTY program to flash sspl/uspl and USPL and then the new rom? if yes .. how I can do it?

Power off the phone
Press and hold the camera and voice keys
Insert the USB cable, Keep holding the camera and voice keys until you get the bootloader screen
Then flash an original ROM.

Stuck in "Smart Mobility" screen

Hello,
New owner of the HTC Touch HD, and love it!
But...
I was attempting to flash Dutty's WinMo 6.5 R4 ROM. I followed all the instructions, yet now I'm stuck.
Whever I boot the phone, it gets stuck on the black "Smart Mobility" screen. In the bottom left corner, it shows the following info:
R 1.14.25.24
G 52.64.25.34U
D 1.59. dutty
I've tried hard resets, and they don't do anything. I can't connect to Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync), so I can't re-flash any old ROMs.
Any help/advice? Have I bricked my phone?

did you flash the ROM without flashing your SPL to 1.56 (or using USPL)? from the power off position, hold the down-volume key, briefly press the power button and see if your device boots to the tri-color screen. from there, post the values that appear on that screen. if your device boots to the tri-color screen, then you can reflash a stock ROM from your laptop/PC.

How long does it stay on the black screen?
it usually takes awhile on first load up to 5 minutes sometimes longer
Can you get into Bootloader? (tricolour screen)
if you can you may have simply had a bad flash it does happen just reflash see what you get, but you need to be patient
You may want to post what steps you took so we can see if you missed something

Never mind, found it...

Not quite...
Well, I've gotten it back to the stock ROM. Unfortunately, I can't seem to flash to a custom ROM. I've tried everything in the Step-By-Step guide. It keeps giving me error message [260].
As much as I'd love WiMo 6.5, I'd rather enjoy using the device.
So I guess I'll stick with the stock ROM for now.
But thanks for the help on getting it working again!

if my memory is correct, that's a USB error and i believe i disabled USB sync in ActiveSync or WMDC to complete the flash process from my laptop. now, assuming you've Hard SPL'd your device with the 1.56 SPL, which is required for WM 6.5 ROM then you can still flash via the microSD card. in the ROM package you downloaded, you should see a file named BLACIMG.nbh or ruu_signed.nbh. (1) copy the file to a microSD (2) make sure the file is named BLACIMG.nbh (3) put the microSD card in your phone (4) boot your phone to the tri-color screen and you can flash a custom ROM.

My HD also gets stuck on that starting screen "smart mobility".
But i have the problem allways after a past restoring by sprite backup.
If i restore with "merge" the progs installed on the memory card will not start. Progs in ROM are ok.
If i restore with "replace" the HD and all progs on ROM and memory card are working properly. Fine! BUT on the next soft reset the HD will hang in the described starting screen and needs a hard reset of course followed by a new sprite restoring of an older backup file.
It sucks! And i'm not able to save new backups because on the backup process sprite will soft reset the HD.
I have still the original HTC ROM and radio ROM and my storage card is ok.
It must be a sprite problem, or better a problem of the registry modified by "replace"
Any hints?

Couldn't find a solution with sprite backup. But SPB backup works fine.

restoring a backup from one ROM to a different ROM is not advised, especially if you're flashing with custom ROMs. the backup could be overwriting/adding/modifying registry values that are critical to the new ROM. if you're wanting to quickly reinstall programs, etc., after a ROM flash consider using SHASAMI...

As stated above it is ill advised to perform a full restore after you have flashed to a different rom version as you'll be modifying registry settings which could make your phone not function correctly. Only use SPB Backup, Sprite & Rescop Backup for rstoring emails, contacts and nothing else.
If you are looking to restopre everything safely use SASHIMI

Searching for SD Card Tri Color Stuck

Symptoms:
I turn the power on.
Grey screen with searching for SD card comes on for half a second
Tri-color screen comes up with ONBL 1.27.0000 SPL 2.00.cmon F256
I cannot activesync but I can HardSPL and Rom update. I have tried several Roms with no success. I ran mtty and no success.
The odd part is if I take the battery out of the phone for a while sometimes it comes on but the volume settings freak out.
Any chance I have a damaged volume button so it is taking it to bootloader mode as if I have power and volume held down?

starge problem but i dont think that ur volume button is damaged cause u say that it boots if u wait
it might be some damaged data in ur flash in that part that controls what buttons do

What does your SD card contain? Are there any softwares or programs can cause problem as a conflict wih your device? Maybe you got a problem similar to me.Take your SD card out, install your device back to the original WM6.1, then up the HardSPL_v2(by Cmonex), then you can up the Rom you want.

I actually do not have any SD (microSD) card in it. I have two Touch Vivas and the broken one just does not behave like the working one. If I hold the red + green + power on the working one I get the factory reset screen. On the broken one it does not stop it from going tri-color. I have tried the reset button under the cover a hundred times.
The fact that it sometimes tries to boot into Windows (gos into the smart mobility screen) gives me hope but I am ready to dump the phone.

Try to get back to the old spl, if the same problem presists, then flash stock spl and flash the official rom from htc. I guess, and just i guess ur viva model number is deffer.

Hmm, i have the same problemen with my pharos, and the rom and SPL are the original, never flashed ones. When I hard reset, normal procedure happens, formatting, then winmo 6.0 is reinstalled, you get the screen calibration, customization, then it resets, and I'm back to the threecolor screen.. what should I do?

hmm.. then u should try switching to other official version or custom rom to fix that.

Thank you for your advice, from you say I guess you think the ROM i have now is 'broken' ? I've tried resetting it and reinstalling it several times, after the forth time I had a working phone again, but that was only until I turned it off. When I turn it back on: woosh, three color screen again. Somehow i have the feeling this might be more related to the physical memory being broken than the rom on the memory, or am I mistaken? Wouldn't the phone be unable to work if the Rom was really 'broken' ? I am just guessing here, I am going to try fixing it with a new rom this weekend, I am just trying to figure out if that is going to help or probably not

HTC HD2 starting and hard reset problem

After freezing my device I tried to open but not opened then I tried to make soft reset again it didnt open then I tried hard reset but the normal menu didnt come instead the menu which is attached appear and telling something serial but not doing hard set now I dont know what I must do Please help

Thats your bootloader.....
to do a hard reset its...
hold down volume up and volume down
tap and release power
keep holding both volume buttons down....
I think whats happening is that your only holding the volume down.
Try taking your battery cover off to get a better press and making sure that up and down are held, then tap the power button.........

Thanks for explanation but it is stilll not working and in addition today for solving this problem I tried to reinstall rom using cd card this case it is waiting at the (loading ) stage I dont know how can I solve this problem

Is it a tmous hd2 (green and red buttons?) or a "normal one"?
What happened to make it freeze crash?
Can you still get to bootloader? (the screen you posted above)
If you can then go to that screen and connect your phone via usb......
wait a few mins and let us know if the word "serial" at the bottom of the screen changes to "usb"........
If it does you should be able to flash a rom via your computer......

nothing only I have re install sprite and rim backups (whic I had before) it started normally and while working freezed I closed and not opened it is staying and wait at (HTC guietly brillant ) stage

try uninstalling actvesync from your pc...... then reinstalling it
would you be able to try and flash on someone elses pc?

My friend, if the phone starts at all you definitely should be able to do HARD RESET.
You are probably not doing well the hard reset. You cannot destroy bootloader with backup programs.
You should :
-hold pressed volume up and volume down buttons
-tap and release power button
-keep holding both volume buttons down for several more seconds until three color screen appears and shortly after that a message will appear on lite blue screen. Then release both volume buttons. Then press volume up button, usually it is necessary to press it once again. System restoring bar will begin to raise up to 100%. After that pres again volume up and system will restart.

By the way your initial rom is 1.66 but on the pictures is 1.48. So you did pictures after you flashed it. Also noted that you have flashed HSPL.
Suggest to download your initial original rom and install it from the memory card. Not sure but may be downgrade of the rom is not possible from 1.66 to 1.44.

Thanks to masters very much I reinstall active sync and then I flash rom and all my problems cancelled out )

I can get the bootloader but it keeps showing "serial" even after connecting it to to the computer.
the "usb" does not come and i cannot update the rom
currently i'm using hyperdroid GBX v11 which is working fine (just one problem that it shows blank screen after a call ends and no display till another call comes) please help

Hmmm......
Try, using another USB port or computer.
Reinstall activesync.
Have you tried flashing from SD card?

i have the same problem, and my information on the screen is
PB81120 SSB3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
any help? im hard rebooting cause idk the pasword and i cant get on the phone:crying::crying::crying:

If you are 100% sure your stock rom is correct. rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.NBH, put it on the root of your SD card, and boot into bootloader, it will flash.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOUR STOCK IS CORRECT POST HERE FIRST OR YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE,
better to look noob than to brick, there are too many versions of this phone to mess around here.
