Internet connection weirdness - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I hope someone can help me with this. I recently reflashed my ROM (CRC 13.2 ROM) and now my internet connection is flaky...
Any time I start up Opera Mini, it works fine. Likewise, Device Update always connects as it should. Comm Manager shows I have an active data connection, but Pocket IE won't connect and neither will Skyfire. Most recently, clicking any link in an email message seems to create a reply email as opposed to opening the link in a browser. (All of the methods for making Opera Mini my default browser have failed, but until a few days ago, such links would open in PIE which would result in a blank page.)
I don't really care about Skyfire so much, but being unable to open email links is really not good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disregard
Disabling the MediaNet proxy (which previously resulted in no connection at all) seems to have fixed the problem.

Disregard the disregard!
Turns out turning off the MediaNet proxy fixed Skyfire, but PIE still won't work. Always displays a blank page.

Browsing with PIE

I'm very confused as to why I can't browse with PIE, Opera works fine, but if I try to browse in PIE (I want to use logmein ) It connects, then says locating for ~30 seconds or so, then gives me the following error : "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later"
I can browse perfectly well with opera, but can't resolve any page with PIE.
I'm on t-mobile in the UK and AFAIK all my settings are right, so why can't I use IE??

Is there any proxy setting in your PDA? As has been pointed out in many of my Pocket PC & Web browsing-related articles, Opera doesn't use the system-level proxy, while PIE / IEM does. This is why IEM doesn't work.
I have got the t-mobile proxy in my settings, but if I delete it I can't connect at all.
WHat settings should I have ??
bump.
Can anyone help?

Internet Explorer saves link instead of logging in

Hi
I've tried every setting imaginable on my Tytn running WM 6.1 Internet Explorer. I'm trying to login to my mobile banking site but everytime I get to the login screen and select the login link, the browser just gives me an option to save the link (Login.do) instead of routing me to the link.
The the browser does nothing further - it remains at the last page.
I've tried the same on desktop PC and the link works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
It seems my browser (PIE) was the problem - Microsoft should really include something better with WM.
I upgraded to Opera. Sorted now.

IE working, but not Opera Mini. (Tzones proxy)

Hey guys,
This morning every thing was working fine with my t-zones proxy connection. I could use Opera Mini. I let my son try to set-up an e-mail account, and when I got it back, there was no email and no more opera.
Opera cannot connect to the tzones proxy any longer and I'm wondering if there may have been a setting my son bumped when trying to adjust the email. The odd thing is IE still works fine and can connect.
Opera works fine when WiFi is enabled. I am using the Tmobile Wing (HTC Herald) with Touch-IT touched by vista ROM (which should not matter.)
Thanks for any incite
i read that you have to use esmertec jbed midlet to launch it
Edit: For some reason I was able before to just click the "O" shortcut to launch opera mini. Now I need to select the "e" java manager shortcut to launch it. It is now working correctly.. I just don't understand why this would happen, and why only for tmobile proxy - not for wifi..
Thanks for your response, but the program launches fine and has worked fine up until today.
There must be some TZones setting that was switched, but I don't understand how IE could still work if that was the case.
The problem lies only in Opera reaching the proxy.
IE can reach it fine, and Opera can reach internet through Wifi.
Opera for some odd, odd reason cannot reach the tzones proxy.
Any other suggestions? Thanks
When I try to access a site using Opera Mobile, everthing is fine. When I try using Opera Mini, I get this error message:
"Failed to connect to the Internet.
100
java.io.IOException: null
Click here to start the connection test."

IE is the only app that can connect to internet.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an AT&T tilt. I've had it for a year with no problems. Yesterday I tried opening Opera 9.5 and it just hung at connecting to media net. I tried a soft reset, I've tried removing the batteries and reinstalling opera. The problem still persists. I tried leaving it alone to connect to media net, and found google had loaded about an hour later. Unfortunately the browser was still non-responsive. After taking a look at other programs, I discovered, Internet Explorer is the only app that works. Even messaging doesn't, it hangs while trying to connect to download mail. I tried leaving it alone like I did for Opera an found it "logging on" about an hour later, but it was hung. I've also tried turning on WiFi, but Opera still cannot connect.
From what I can see, it looks like there's an issue connecting up to the network, however, I can't explain why IE can do it, but everything else can't. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions for troubleshooting this one?
Thanks in advance.
hi,
try this opera fix.
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=101958&st=430&p=749204&#entry749204
as for messager live .. good luck with that .. as far as I can see, the only solution is to do a hard reset and AVOID using the auto configurator in the email setup.
quote
" bad news for Windows live/ hotmail users is that they do not get the chance to select the network connection a windows live/hotmail account uses. On the very first part of the e-mail setup, as soon as you type in "[email protected], or [email protected]" , the account wizard completely takes over declaring that "settings found for hotmail.com". And even after you type in all your details you do not get to option to select the network connection to be used. (This is consequence of the fact that Microsoft Windows Mobile thinks it knows best how to configure microsoft based e-mail accounts for windows mobile.) The network connection that is automatically selected is called "The Internet". As you cannot select another network connection, you must edit "The Internet" connection so that it has the right settings for your particular mobile service provider. To do this"

But the strange thing is that I cannot find The Internet connection settings. So i cannot edit The Internet networking settings. Apparently, the end user is deem too stupid to know how to edit it correctly, so it's set automatically and hidden from view. Still investigating.

Can't Access Secure Sites Through T-Mobile

Hi,
Just bought my TD2, and overall happy with it... I started testing it out and noticed that the browser cannot access any secure sites (including but not limited to: ANY webmail like Yahoo or Gmail, school login, or internet banking site).
I am a T-Mobile UK contract user (Flext). When I first turned on the phone I let it automatically configure for internet use. For general browsing that worked fine, but wouldn't let me access the sites mentioned above.
I called T-Mobile and, though they tried to be helpful, never figured out the problem. I know this is not a general T-Mobile issue because I was able to access these sites on my older phone, and I know it's not a browser issue because when connected through Wi-Fi (to my home network) it's perfectly fine.
So - if anybody has had or heard of this issue before, please help! There must be SOME setting or option that I'm missing, that prevents me from accessing secure sites!
I have the standard ROM, which includes Opera 9.5 build 16277, and Internet Explorer (of indeterminate version). Both browsers have this issue, in different ways: Internet Explorer claims the website doesn't exist:
"Cannot find 'http://mail.google.com/mail/x/?source=mobileproducts&dc=gorganic'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
Opera 9.5 does one better and crashes: "We're Sorry... A problem has occurred with Opera9.exe"... followed by the option to send an error report to Microsoft.
As I said before it's NOT a browser problem because when connected to my home Wi-Fi network, both browsers work fine in secure sites.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wassim
The T-Mobile auto configuration puts an entry under Proxy Servers which you need to remove (go to "Settings, All Settings, Connections, Connections, T-Mobile Internet, Manage Existing Connections, Proxy Settings" and check "connect direct to the internet"). Your problems should now go away and Opera shouldn't crash any more (you may need to soft reset before this takes effect).
Thank you Pete... I can't believe it was that simple, but it worked! Funny thing is, I could have sworn that option was checked off previously. But I did it again, and soft reboot, and now I can access any site I damn well please!
I'll let the guys at T-Mobile know in case some other poor guy has the same issue.
Cheers,
Wassim
